the e.u. but now look at what the conservative party of prime minister boris johnson made of it in a twitter post actively campaign against. that misleading it it provoked anger and ridicule from some but the conservatives stood by their video does is actually right now what we are of concern about it's not the deep fakes it's what we will call it. fake so something that has been edited with a little bit of a video editing software doesn't have to be complicated but it's still changing the entire message after video and it is something that is performing where we were all on the line and has a tendency to go fibro. the labor party's now taken a well known image from boris johnson's 2016 bricks it campaign with a misleading claim about health spending on the side of a bus and twisted it to attack his new bricks it plan labor's opponents of attack very for making outlandish claims but they're not backing down either in the u.k.

political advertising on t.v. and radio is restricted to a very few tightly regulated slots for each party making the online arena story important twitter's decision to scrap political advertising can prevent misleading or downright fake content being shared meanwhile facebook has chosen not to block a misleading political post insisting it can't act as a censor since the 2016 bricks at referendum social media companies say they've got better at dealing with fake accounts and fake news but it took 3 spooked 2 years to show the world misleading referendum advertising like this different groups got different versions of each child's we don't know who got what or why i'm not kind of micro-targeting is going to be a big feature of this election campaign when you get a leaflet through your door by a political party it says on it it has to have by law

a name in an address on it to say who's responsible for that there's no such rule online and so when you see an online advert it's a lot harder for you to know who sent it to you and who's paying for it and those are really really important questions for transparency it's always the golden question how this actually swings election and really unknown how any form of support doesn't actually affects people's decisions to get out voting day but the worry here is that because it's very hard to scrutinise it could be having an impact that we are absolutely on the way so when britain elects a new parliament in a few weeks time one crucial factor could be the growing mountain of fake political content to the barber al jazeera london well let's get more on the u.k. election paul brennan is joining us live from london it's a few weeks away the bumpy start to the election campaign from both major parties. yes the election has a really caught fire yes and we were on the 3rd day of fishel campaigning and as

you heard in that game barber's piece that the conservative starts was hampered by the roué over the faking of stars interview with the breakfast television channel to be further labor's campaign hasn't really got off to a great start john mcdonald a shot of chancellor spoke on yesterday on thursday and he was talking about greater funding for public services but his message got lost somewhat in a row over whether labor was still had a problem with anti semitism now today friday all the main parties essentially move on to the national health service not really as a touchstone subject for the election here in the u.k. attention will move north of the border as we call it here in london up to scotland where the scottish national party launching their election campaign and they have a an eye catching proposal for a and a chest protection bill the theory behind it is that although health policy is

devolved to the scottish parliament the concern of the s.n.p. is that under a post brecht's its trade deal done by the london governments the n.h.s. and drugs policy and procurement and privatisation essentially of the of the n.h.s. could be possible and the scottish parliament would be unable to do anything about it what the s.n.p. are saying is that if we enshrined protections in law that would prevent that happening it's an interesting tactic by the s.n.p. who in the 2015 election were pretty much how it they lost a 3rd of the seats 2 years ago in the last general election after concentrating very much on the referendum independence referendum for scotland and their campaign for that so it's interesting to see them take a different tack and go mainly on public services to launch their campaign that said though boris johnson the prime minister is also launching health policies today he's been at a hospital in central england talking about a new n.h.s. visa which would enable. more overseas doctors and nurses to come more easily to

the u.k. even after bret's it by applying a kind of points based immigration system there's already proposals for a points based immigration system but this would be specific to staff who want to come into the national health service so all the main parties this today friday are focusing on the n.h.s. will be interesting to see which messages rise to the top which actually take hold and which grab the attention of the voters paula thank you for that for now that paul brennan live in london thank you. now brazil's top court has overturned a lot of acquiring convicted criminals to go to jail after losing their 1st appeal the court decided that a person can only be jailed after all of their appeals have been exhausted and the ruling means that for the president to louise and author nineveh silva and thousands of prisoners could be released nude ever sent to president april last year as part of a corruption investigation. facebook has revealed more details on how it plans to protect next year's u.s. election from foreign interference and misinformation measures include securing the
