previous day but more martin about the 1st let's go to northern italy where doctors are struggling to contain the virus as catherine stansell reports. the lombardy region of northern italy is in lockdown as more cases of the covert 19 coronavirus are confirmed could donya is effectively a ghost town after at least 3 people there tested positive for the virus the sudden spread has led local authorities to take swift action urging businesses schools and churches in several towns to close their doors several train stations are closed and tens of thousands of italians have been told to stay home as a precaution if. there is a high level of panic now wearing a mask is the right thing to do but i think there is too much paranoia plays now and if you treat is going too far that's an attack you put on a woman that if there is a lot of panic the situation mari's us all we can do is wait and see what happens
3:03 am
doctors suspect a hospital near cafe have helped spread the virus and they're trying to limit the outbreak. to meet this. we are working to identify the people who came into direct contact with those who are confirmed to have the virus these tests we've done so far appear to show 3 more cases of the coronavirus the corona virus has spread to 8 countries in europe including germany france and the u.k. catherine stansell al-jazeera samina kausar franco is an italian journalist in venice there wall of the affected regions that she says there are fears about how the outbreak will affect the local economy. what we're seeing here in venice is people out in the street for carnival but effectively in the town where there has been one dead person invent it the situation is very different and the same goes for the towns that you were mentioning that are in a lockdown many streets are empty as you heard on the report before i mean there
3:04 am
will be no sunday masses there will be no sunday soccer matches public gatherings demonstrations i've just not going to be allowed to be held and the authorities have told the residents as southwest of milan to stay indoors and so we're talking at least $50000.00 residents who are basically staying at home at this stage that the governor of the venator region has even suggested suspending all carnival events which of course this is a very big month pro-con of all events here in venice and there are the governor along that he has also asked for counter measures and is very concerned about the economy and has asked the prime minister to deal with this because he feels there may be repercussions on the economy with people not going to work well in iran 2 cities are on lockdown little thought he is the border trains and buses
3:05 am
to be cleaned daily of the bugs into probably explains what other measures the government is taking. the government has been announcing some measures to deal with this virus now we know that all cultural events concerts including film screenings have been canceled from tomorrow in the cities of iraq the schools are closed for a week the religious schools in calm where the health ministry thinks that this virus started from again closed tomorrow now on state t.v. they have been showing videos on how to wear the face masks properly and how people can wash their hands properly now iraq has also suspended flights between the 2 countries iran has closed its land borders between the 2 countries and that's only been only open for a week after they have been closed for 4 months because of insecurity in the protests that were taking pace in iraq iran doesn't think it was safe for the pilgrims to travel but now again those borders are closed we know that kuwait are
3:06 am
suspended flights between the 2 countries now there is concern out on the streets of that ron we saw people wearing masks we saw people questioning the government's account and also asking how many people actually affected they don't really trust the government and partly due to when that ukrainian airline over shutdown the government spent 3 days deny again people are suspicious but yes the schools are closed the cemeteries are closed concerts film screenings everything has been closed now to stop large numbers of people congregating. there is to decide which democrat will take hold the u.s. president all trying to develop a selection has resumed in nevada the same story vers population could reveal which candidate appeals to voters amongst minority communities all turns of thousands of people participated in early voting suggesting a record turnout is expected well senator bernie sanders is going into the nevada caucus on saturday with
3:07 am
a slight momentum after his win in new hampshire democrats are meeting in schools libraries and casinos to show their support for a particular candidate the harder the. it's the 1st state in the west of the u.s. to hold the caucus on the 1st with a sizable hispanic population the a 3rd of its residents identify as a spy they call it tino and winning here will help hispanic voters in states like california and texas on super tuesday next month democrats will have 7 options but one name that won't deal but it's just michael bloomberg his campaign didn't file in time to participate in the caucus let's cross over to rob reynolds who's in las vegas nevada and those results just slowly trickling in what source of results are we seeing at the moment well it's still too close to call so hale only about 10 percent of the total reallocated caucus votes are in but everything is looking like this is going to be a very good night for bernie sanders he is leading well ahead of his
3:08 am
nearest rival former vice president joe biden sanders maintained a very strong organization here in nevada helped by a small army of young and enthusiastic volunteers and so confident was he sanders that is of victory in nevada that he actually skipped the victory parties here he's in texas where he's held several rallies texas of course is one of the many delegate rich states that will hold their primaries on super tuesday in early march here is what senator bernie sanders had to say in remarks to one of those rallies. we can win the texas primary we can win the democratic nomination we can defeat donald trump.
3:09 am
and we can transform this country looks good thank you the old and of course in going into those super tuesday contests a victory in nevada will give bernie sanders some momentum as for his and nearest rival former vice president joe biden he's in 2nd place currently i'm in again many votes to remain to be counted he's hoping to do well in the south carolina primary which happens in a week's time and as for the other candidates well they're going to have to try to hang on somehow until super tuesday but then they will face not only the sanders momentum but the vast amount of money that mike bloomberg the former mayor in new york and billionaire is pouring into those states so he'll for the moment trump thanks very much and of course we'll join you through the day of course to see how those results pan out let's cross over to las vegas as well anyway because amy klobuchar who is also one of the candidates there is speaking now let's hear what
3:10 am
she has to say the people in the middle the people that are tired mud slinging and the name calling we'll have a place to call home this november and that has been our mission from the beginning so if you're working 2 jobs but still struggling to choose between medicine and rent you have a home with me if you're frightened for your kids' safety and sick of n.r.a. lobbyist blocking gun violence. then you have a home with me if you're trying to raise a family and tired of corporate titans lining their pockets. while you are selling the holes in yours you have a home with me and if you think it is shameful that an american can be stopped and profiled because of the color of his skin if you're sick of
3:11 am
a president that sees diversity as a weakness rather than our country's great strength then you have a home with me. which other one of the candidates. fighting you might say for public support in las vegas certainly fighting talk there let's bring in michael fauntroy he's the acting director of the ronald walker's walter's leadership and public policy center at howard university joins us again on the program good to have you with us again amy club which are speaking there obviously bernie sanders also fighting the good fight this is a very important state really to make your mark in before you move on to the carolinas to texas to california. absolutely indeed if you can make the case. and have a strong showing a better then you really can make the case around the country that you can reach
3:12 am
a very wide ranging kinds of voters because nevada is much closer to the wider range of americans and a particular state or new hampshire and so for bernie sanders that this appears to line up to be a really good day for him because there's still a lot of people who have doubts about his national ability and he can make the case now i think going forward that he has the strongest case there when the nomination now of course was still very early in all of this even after next week in south carolina only 4 percent of all of the democratic convention delegates will have been allocated but bernie sanders at this point looks to have the momentum in terms of the margin of victory that any one candidate needs or the gene between candidates in caucuses like nevada how important is that at the moment in terms of the democratic caucus nationally deciding who they're going to vote for who they
3:13 am
think could rival and fight the good fight against double trump. well in the matter i'm not sure that there is a particular number that indicative of it of anything but as we go deeper into the caucus. of the primary calendar there may well be a margin of error that speaks more toward who has the best option going forward than than it might otherwise. be the case what i will say though is for someone like joe biden the vice president out of state if he's not able to show or have a strong showing here in the next week in south carolina and beyond then for him margin of defeat if you will the margin of victory will tell a lot really big story because he is somebody who has all of the name recognition he has all of the endorsements and if he can translate that into significant support going forward there's going to be difficult for him to continue it is going
3:14 am
to be difficult to continue some of the candidates could we see some of them drop out from this. from nevada's race or will lay old do you think continue to south carolina next week i don't see anyone dropping out after nevada i'd be surprised if there were more than 2 more than one maybe but after south carolina i think we'll have a good sense of who the top 4 candidates are if you will and from that point on certainly super tuesday i think will be dispositive texas and california are the 2 largest states in the country in terms of democratic delegates will have cast ballots and we will know at this point who is the real front runner and if there is anyone else who has a chance to challenge the person going for a free ticket good to get your insights michael thanks so much for joining us michael fauntroy the in washington d.c. . well still ahead here

al-jazeera falls to keep hospital locations a secret we need the doctors in syria who fear being targeted by strikes in the bowels of europe's largest airline faces a storm of criticism to making comments about muslim travelers stay with us here on al-jazeera. hello again welcome back to international weather forecast we're here across japan we are watching one system make its exit into the pacific we're still going to be left with some snow potentially over here across the western part of japan we call the sea effect snow when the the wind pushes across the sea of japan picks of the moisture and then dumps it over here on that western shore particularly the higher elevations for tokyo though it is going to be a better day with the temperature of about 16 degrees here in shanghai i do expect
3:16 am
those temperatures to start coming up as we go towards the beginning of the week it's going to be a nice day here on sunday with 15 degrees but on monday clouds are all again $21.00 degrees above average for this time of year and rain coming into the forecast by the time we do get towards tuesday well here across indonesia we did see some flooding that cost slush flooding and it was deadly down here across parts of java we are still going to be seeing those afternoon showers rumble as we go towards sunday here but up towards the north in men it is going to be a warm day at about $35.00 degrees and for bangkok we do expect to see about $36.00 as we go towards monday and for n.d.i. we're still watching for very heavy rain across much of the north we do expect to see that rain starting to get a little bit heavier as we go towards monday it is going to be a rainy day with a temperature of 29 degrees for you. we will maintain the finest fighting force the world has ever known united states

army was so reliant on the private sector i would call the dependency we have a mismatch between the way we. are to be here and the reality of the 21st century in africa here in the bay legal for 11 now to how many of the questions that you're sending out you should be chancellor just like their child soldiers reloaded on al-jazeera. all. of them like you're watching al-jazeera with me so robin a reminder of our top stories italy is seeing a surge in corona virus cases in the country's north almost 80 people are confirmed

to have been infected to have died from the virus several towns are in lockdown in the love body and the neato provinces china has reported increasing you quote a virus infections of the epicenter of the outbreak and here a province $630.00 more cases are confirmed on saturday from almost $370.00 the previous day $96.00 more deaths were also reported and the race to decide which democrat will take hold president trump and november's election has resumed in the voter the state's diverse population will test which candidates appeals to voters amongst the minority communities. south sudan's rival leaders have formed a unity government declaring an end to a civil war that's killed more than 400000 people. of the former rebel right commish are has been sworn in as president salva kiir is deputy is the 3rd time there trying to form a coalition the walls in this nation descended into conflict in 2032 years after

3:20 am
are still a lot of outstanding issues the most prominent being the issues of security arrangements but they say that after the swearing in and after the formation of the transitional government and appointment of cabinet ministers then they will tackle those issues so people on the street and countrywide are looking to the government to solve the issue of the economies that i was facing high inflation as a result of the years of conflict in the country there's also the issue of the humanitarian crisis more than half of the country so 1000000 population are in need of food aid to survive so these are the things or rather the challenges that this transitional government will have to tackle in the coming 3 years before they go on to elections the number one guarantee has to be basically the goodwill of the 2 sides but if you're looking at what kind of pressure. transitional government have just been for an end will have to be spending to make sure that they implement the deal that has been a theme that we can look at what happened over the past 2 weeks that led to this government being formed on the 22nd of february which was the final deadline that
3:21 am
was had by the working parties you've seen the u.s. imposing sanctions within the e.u. imposing sanctions loss of harsh words language coming from regional and international partners saying that if no transitional government is formed if the peace is not abided by if the details of the agreement that has been signed is not implemented then there will be no support for this government. doctors in syria's italie province are keeping the cation of the hospital secret fearing they may be targeted by government forces 70 hospitals have closed. a few field hospitals as well as still operating despite shortages of staff and supplies reports from the turkey syria border. and have both worked in hospitals that were bombed in rebel held areas their paths converge here at an underground clinic they want kept secret the u.n. accuses syrian government forces and their russian allies of deliberately targeting
