around the world the science and technology minister made the pledge while presenting a white paper on china's fight against covert 19 the document pushes back against critics who say beijing has been less than forthcoming with information about the virus let's get more now from sarah clarke she joins us live from hong kong sarah was there just talk us through what are the key elements of china's white paper. well as you mention this is the white paper on china's handling of the covert 19 crosses that describe it is the biggest public health emergency since the founding of the people's republic of china now the government said it took it very seriously and put in place the most rigorous measures it also said it's made some major strategic gains fighting the virus now it delivered a recovery rate of 94.3 percent in this white paper and it also documented a very detailed timeline of china's handling of the infections and its containment it said from light to december to mid january china immediately reported the
