which we're expecting it will be the 5th vote on the versions of a resolution to try and extend permission for border aid to come in from turkey into syria now the big sticking point between the russians and the chinese on one side of most of the other security council members is whether to authorize as you say 2 border crossings or as russia and china want just the one border crossing now if the russian latest resolution doesn't pass as i'm being told by members of the security council seems likely then we're hearing that belgium and germany who've already had 2 resolutions versions of a resolution vetoed are coming up with another one and it looks like they may in that latest version make a big concession and that's on the number of border crossings that will allow aid in they will keep the one border crossing but the other one bubble salam they will

say they want to keep it for just for 3 months to wind it down so you could say that that is a compromise you could say the russians have won on that issue and this is just a face saving compromise of course it's not just what belgium and germany want there are others on the security council on the other side for example the u.s. france and the u.k. who might not support that compromise that's not entirely clear there are other members of the security council who might not. ported and also my understanding is that belgium and germany certainly won't include the language that russia's included about sanctions and about you know actual sanctions and how damaging they are to syria at a time of economic hardship so there is still a potential that russia and china won't support a compromise it's not clear either if we get to another resolution another vote
