whether or not it's the u.s. president is fit to be released from hospital where he is currently recovering from covert 19 his chief of staff says they're optimistic about his prospects trump courted controversy on sunday with a surprise drive by hundreds of his supporters. currently gaffers and son it's the hospice room where the from our white house correspondent can be home she's watching developments from outside the mall to read the whole script so i'm kimberly we're waiting for news on president trump. who use that kelly mcinerney has tested positive just announced to the seriousness of the situation for this administration does it not. and that could have something to do with the delay with the press conference that we thought would be imminent here at walter reed medical center where the president continues to recuperate following
7:03 pm
the diagnosis of covert 19 we do know that the latest determination from his doctors has yet to be made on whether he can return to the white house something we know that he has been pressing for us as recently as sunday even though the day prior he had a very high fever at times were choir and supplemental oxygen the upbeat mood that the president has projecting on twitter also acted by some of his doctors but again that final determination still unclear we did expect that there would be some news by now given the fact that the white house travel pool was set up here north of washington d.c. to the state of maryland for this update but since then well they have been standing in front of the lectern nobody has come forward to give that update as you point out though the delay may be because of the news that has broken in just the last hour about the white house press secretary haley machinating the latest in the president's inner circle to test positive for covert 19 and why this is so
7:04 pm
disturbing is given the fact that she was massless briefing members of the media and moving in amongst members of the staff at the white house as recently as yesterday now she has issued a statement saying that she had no reason to believe that she would test positive that she had no knowledge of that only testing paul. that of today after previously testing negative she says now that she will work for mostly but the prior to that she was active at the white house in order to provide the most current information about the president's condition to the american people and the world kimberly hold there we are so we sing for that from the u.s. president but it seems that seemed really are quite keen to get him are you supposed to get the show back on the road because as we wait for this news the clock is ticking let's not forget there is an election that's going to be happening . in 29 days time.
7:05 pm
absolutely 29 days and counting and guess who is in active campaign mode the president's rival democratic presidential nominee joe biden and where is he on monday here in the united states florida a coveted battleground state that most agree you cannot win the white house without winning florida add to that campaigning on his behalf in michigan is senator bernie sanders himself running for the presidential nominee candidacy at one point as well in michigan another coveted battleground state so the president is watching all of this very carefully eager to get on the campaign trail himself that's why he is encouraging his supporters many that you can hear behind me he's also been on twitter a spate of morning tweets outlining his platform and we should point out as we bring up joe biden that their husbands of discussion and concerned about his testing positive for coke at 19 whether that could potentially happen given the
7:06 pm
fact that we believe the president was at least asymptomatic but potentially contagious at that last presidential debate asked if he would be comfortable facing off on the 15th in miami for a 2nd presidential debate joe biden has spoken in just the last few moments saying yes he would he if in fact the science says that the distances are ok and that he. be safe to do so he says he has no reservations but again so far he has tested negative and continues to wear a mask in public something that donald trump signed and till very recently quite small these questions could all be minutes depending on the updates from the health professionals relieve you there. to hear from them and we will of course combat's you camberley a soon as there is an update but for now i thank you very much indeed more breaking news for you the sar police in kurdistan have used tear gas and stun grenades to disperse protesters in bishkek they are angry early results in sunday's

parliamentary election which predicts the pro-government parties are set to take $107.00 ice of $120.00 seats serious charles stratford's is in bishkek. security forces of all into the square. what's the sense of all. the people of the of the citizens of the. the the poor the locals the axis of. the government seems of the bus station. to see. you receive. it pretty soon. as a crackdown on this but just. what was charles reporting just a short time ago we do you know i have him by phone and he joins us now on the line
7:08 pm
charles very dramatic scenes we saw there have things come to an asshole by now. by any stretch of the imagination have they come down where about a kilometer away from the square now i can still hear the sound stun grenades albums going off there's still a lot of pig actually in the air we're understanding. fighting which we described as fighting image streets around the square between security forces and protesters as if you're sure the video is not about $12000.00 started gathering and they gathered in huge numbers throughout the day. for a rerun of the elections a sense of increasing unity amongst the opposition parties calling for unity. for that for a rerun a lot of anger a lot a lot of the prostration seemingly some of the opposition leaders describing the.
7:09 pm
the election as being the dirtiest in kyrgyzstan history most people we spoke to said that they had never seen crowds they never seen a demonstration or have not seen is as big a demonstration is that since the revolution that overthrew president in 2010. it seems as if the government certainly not taking any chances whatsoever and it moved in with very swiftly and with great force you know it was it was only literally minutes before the security forces moved in that we again and. all the protesters shouting for the president to step down interestingly enough we've seen the security forces moving in a the square and hiding. setting out there in a wooded area on the outskirts of the square was before. the court pushed
7:10 pm
them to move in reports and the media evidence we saw things streamed live. protesters trying to climb again occurring rocks at the corner of the president's building which is just on the side of the square so very dramatic scene and a very short story that the government cannot take up to to listen to these protests that evolves despite what you see even. huge numbers turning out we were seeing video evidence as were of convoys one of the better description of people being called in from the countryside to a car. in the protests yes. some very dramatic scenes and worrying scenes where the democratic progress of this country and certainly is charles we'll leave it there for now i stay safe and thank you very much for bringing us the update there on the breaking news coming out of kurdistan.
7:11 pm
now fighting between azerbaijani and armenian forces is intensifying as the conflicts and his 2nd week the capital of going to kind of species region at the center of the violence is under renewed spam bartman it's facing is moving closer to major cities and remains fierce along the line of control both sides accuse each other of targeting civilians seen of course has more from being gay in azerbaijan. the cities adjacent to now go north korea have been under attack today as well again as our bridge on officials condemned those attacks and the quds army and side we know that but in the attack in buried the city killed 2 civilians today and there are many wounded a hospital being hospitalized the concept is going this way but the iranian side
7:12 pm
also accusing for azhar bridge on 4 continues the shelling there is a bench the civilian areas but how the 100 things are going to evolve between the 2 neighbors is still unknown because because the tension this is still high and despite international calls both sides seem to be committed to do whatever they have planned over now go in a car about but many are many are concerned that this conflict is going to go beyond the gold record of our front line to war between armenian azhar bridge and i have to say that despite the intensive fight ongoing in the frontlines of logo in a corner of our now the cities are being shelled or hit by missiles which will be probably rising more concerns as we will be hearing more civilians being killed as long as these attacks continue from both sides against each other. bartered
7:13 pm
smith is following the latest developments from greece in armenia. well is an indication i think of the pressure the no go on o'connor about is that armenian president nicole passion has this evening hold on those recently demobilized a young man from the army to come back to fight these are young men who've done the 2 years obligatory military service and they cannot be forced to come back but the meaning the prime minister is asking them to come back his own son to finish military service earlier in the summer has come back to join the fight but what's happening is that all ethnic armenians all going to join the fight and to go in a car bomb this is not the armenian military or the country of amina fighting us or by john this is the enclave of nagorno-karabakh which is ethnically now meenie and medians coming to join the fight and they're clearly under pressure that the prime minister is having to ask young men to come back to the fight he already called up
7:14 pm
when the fighting started on the 27th old man to an $80.52 had already done their military service many years which for them were in the reserves he's asked them to come back to fight so clearly there was a lot of demand for men on the grounds to fight and we know that in the main town of nagorno-karabakh stepan aka today that has been relentless bombardment coming from the azerbaijan side the city the town was hit on sunday with that during that bombardment and it was a very intensive and i'm told today by people on the ground that it has been more intensive still i don't feel structure is being targeted particularly electricity transmission stations we saw all those being targeted so yes and there are casualties of people been wounded and 500 people killed as far as we know from sunday's bomb bomb. still to come on al-jazeera. the u.k.
7:15 pm
government managed to miss 16 fantasy cases of covert 19 jeter a technical error the latest on 4 lights plus the record amounts of land already burned in california fire chiefs warned that the worst is yet to come. we have a new tropical system making its way towards tapan at the moment big massive cloud here and that's going to not just win a general northwesterly direction over the next few days now and probably take around 4 or 5 days before it does actually make landfall and i suspect it will be somewhere close to q.c. but a great deal of uncertainty on that at the moment whatever we do expect though we do expect see some wetter weather gradually coming to that eastern side of japan as
7:16 pm
we go on through wednesday and eventually that will fade a fair bit of wet weather across southern parts of japan through the remainder of this week most of that it is fine and dry warm sunshine in seoul around 21 celsius similar conditions to into beijing central piles of china to a little quiet a few of showers as we go through the next day or 7 fine and try to down towards the south of the country find a dry across northern parts of india and more than which was the northwest into where pakistan we still have the circulation just around the by a big old spilling in some very heavy rain up towards west bengal into bangladesh into that western side of me and ma still seeing a quite a few showers up the western gas for the time being that become fewer and further between as we go through the next few days. on counting the cost tensions in the south china sea over shrinking fish stocks as

corona virus she has just announced her diagnosis the weekend she gave several press briefings with aides wearing a mask. right police in kurdistan capital have to spare a spur testers angered at the early results of sunday's parliamentary election testers were stopped from storming the parliament in bishkek. it's predicted it's the pro-government parties all women all but 13 of the $120.00 parliamentary seats . and the biggest city in the going to care about is under the new compartments azerbaijan's says armenian forces are intensifying attacks continue to cities both sides accuse each other of targeting civilians. now this year's nansen refugee awards has gone to a colombian activist for her work with victims of child trafficking the un refugee agency hailed meyer in paris for going to extraordinary lengths to rescue child victims of sexual abuse press is an educator who has spent more than 20 years
7:19 pm
helping child trafficking victims many of them refugees u.n.h.c.r. stance and refugee awards honors outstanding service to people who have been forcibly displaced or for more on this we're joined by the 2 leaders associates protection officer at the u.n. refugee agency is office in rio have her in colombia thank you so much for speaking to us who would of course have been speaking to the prize winner but unfortunately she doesn't under just speak english rather but it is it's interesting because we don't often hear about this prize we often hear about the nobel peace prize but this fund rewards people who've had a really big impact on those that they help just tell us a bit more about this year's winner and why it was so important for her to win this award. thank you very much this award i think recognizes
7:20 pm
the exceptional people who helped displaced who who held the displaced and this award i think is even more important because global figures show that children tend to be about 50 percent of those displaced with their families and this award reiterate the importance of child protection the importance of you know aiming out and targeting our programs towards children the winner is an exceptional person she has worked for over 20 years with children that are survivors of sexual exploitation and abuse and trafficking and they recently opened a shelter here in iraq where here at this is about 2 years ago when we initiated or began the office and this is been important because the numbers are increasing especially due to the pandemic and coleridge in the lockdowns as well the the sexual exploitation against children has increased and so it's important to
7:21 pm
spotlight that because there's very little understanding in terms of the dynamic in this area that were an absolute even before a court came onto the scene child trafficking was an enormous problem. in that she's she's she's rescued some 22000 children from sexual exploitation over the course of that long career just how big a problem is child trafficking and sexual exploitation in the latin american region and why is it such a massive problem. i think it's invisible crime so to speak i think it's very difficult to text and i detect and i think also in the process of prosecuting these crimes it's very often how can i say the wording and how you detect it and how you can prove that that an individual or
7:22 pm
a child was trafficked across the border because obviously there's a cultural aspect in that appalled. a family would say all please help me with my child and my daughter to take her across to this place and it's a neighbor it's a friend and more often sometimes it's family members and so i think it's also the invisible notes of this crime which makes it difficult to detect and it's almost in some ways normalized. refugees are among the most vulnerable people in the world it's even more important for children they have even your defenses just how important is the work that these organizations are doing and do you think there really is a need for for governments to do more to help protect these children because it is as you see ahead in crime is it not. yes i do think that there definitely
7:23 pm
needs to be more awareness i think refugees and migrants in in in there in the majority tend to be undocumented and so this obviously aids this crime i think it's important to put systems in place to be able to detect them swiftly to be able to respond in protecting the survivors of this crime and also to raise awareness i think there's still much to be done is my end there when i say or foundation are doing a lot to combat this but i think it's something that they cannot do alone and i think they need our support to continue doing this work that they are doing absolutely is indeed a very worthy winner thank you so much for coming on al-jazeera to talk about this incredible work and this fantastic prize to shine to the joining us from the u.n. refugee agency in rio her colombia. and another of wars was also unknowns for
7:24 pm
contributions to the greater good the nobel prize for medicine this year's prize winner are the scientists who discovered they have it so see virus where the work of americans harvey alter and charles rice and britain michael horton was honored says in stockholm the prize is especially significant this year as the world's grapples with the corona virus pandemic. the world health organization says around a 10th of the world's population may have been infected with corona virus in the majority of people worldwide remain at risk the comments come as the number of confirmed cases globally past 35000000 the director general is calling for global unity to defeat the virus. i will never be tired of calling
7:25 pm
for solidarity finger pointing will not prevent a single infection apportioning blame will not save a single life what saves lives is national unity and global solidarity everyone must play their part from the individual decisions we make to protect ourselves and others to the discussions we will have this week on behalf of the people we serve almost 16 thousands coronavirus cases in england's have gone unreported for a week after a technical error it means there's been a delay in efforts see trace the contacts of those who've been infected nice's led to more pressure on prime minister boris johnson who's been widely criticized for his handling of the pandemic nauseam barbour has more from london this was all
7:26 pm
affecting cases in england and the government agency known as public health england has admitted responsibility for what they're calling a technical glitch now 15 well nearly 16000 cases when unpublished in the daily reports that the government puts out for over a week. the problem was we believe that for some files containing positive results the files were too large for the software which is used to transfer data to the central n.h.s. test and trace system which then goes on to tell people to self isolate and to try to trace their close contacts and let them know so this saw over the weekend figures like on saturday cases daily cases being reported of nearly 13000 and then on sunday 23000 a huge search but this was
7:27 pm
a result of those missing cases starting to be added to the daily figures because they hadn't gone in when they should have done last week so now they have gone into the count if you like the problem is we don't we don't know exactly how many people out there there are who still need to be contacted the prime minister boris johnson says all the people who tested positive were contacted on time within the normal timeframe. afghan for the afghan president is in qatar for a bilateral meeting with leaders puts will not meet taliban officials as shaft carney's says it comes as peace talks aimed at meeting a cease fire in the country are underway in doha but the afghan governments and the taliban have so far made little progress. at least 50 homes have been destroyed by a wildfire in new zealand's fight to say it's
7:28 pm
a miracle no one was hurt it's the fire swept through a remote village on the scythe islands the place toss it in a forest and strong winds fanned the flames towards the village. wildfires is still burning in california and setting new records for the amounts of land scorched probe reynolds reports from the center of this. wildfires have beseeched california since august when thousands of lightning strikes ignited tinder dry forest and brush scorching hot weather low humidity and high winds turned small places into monsters burning hundreds of homes and consuming 4 percent of the entire land area in the state a total of 8155 fires have burned to date hundreds of homes have been destroyed and at least 31 people have died it's never happened before in recorded history a largest record we have before this for an annual burn was 1500000 it
7:29 pm
it can't be understated but we're getting an unprecedented number of acres burned across the state and unfortunately we are just getting into some of the most critical fire months in california the somber record was reported in a tweet from cal fire the state's fire fighting agency. nearly 17000 firefighters are trying to contain 2 dozen active fires. officials say the so-called glass fire burning in northern california is famous wine country is now their top priority it has incinerated vineyards and wineries and forced thousands to evacuate including the entire town of kalak stoga 110 kilometers north of san francisco the climate in california has term. much drier over the years making trees and brush more likely to burn our research also shows
7:30 pm
that as global warming continues in the coming decades we can expect to see further intensification of these extreme wildfire weather conditions the primary reason is the very strong effect that the warming has on the dryness of the vegetation with 2 more months before the fire season ends it looks like california is headed for more destruction robert oulds al-jazeera los angeles. this is al-jazeera and these are the headlines when it has press secretary kelly mcinerney as the latest member of president donald trump's inner circle to test positive for corona virus she just announced her diagnosis over the weekend she gave several press briefings with a it's wearing a mask so so.
