chilean capital santiago. now protesters in thailand have ended their friday demonstration off the defying a government ban on gatherings for the 3rd day in a row. protest organizers urged the crowds to attend home and avoid more confrontations with riot police security forces used water cannon to break a barricade set up by demonstrators in the center of the capital bangkok but demonstrators are calling for the prime minister's resignation and reforms to the monarchy don't hide the reports from bangkok. face to face in bangkok anti-government protesters entire police got into a violent confrontation 3 months in the making. the mostly peaceful demonstrations started in july but for the 2nd date thousands ignored the risk of arrest under emergency decree issued the day before as promised in an announcement just after

the violence began taia 30 began using everything at their disposal to stop the protests including water cannon with burning agent laced with water the protesters are demanding a new constitution reform of the monarchy and the resignation of the cabinet including prime minister prayers general something he dismissed on friday as he explained the reasons for the emergency order i do look at that. as you are all aware of the situation the government must use the emergency decree we have to proceed because the situation has become violent with some things that had never happened before. the protests started like the other 2 peaceful protests earlier in the week its location was changed at the last minute to confuse the security forces they continued their call for the release of the top protest organizers who were arrested on thursday morning. but about an hour into it the police made their move after several barricades were taken down and police advanced on the protesters many tried to blend into the surrounding neighborhood. even though the leadership has officially called off the protest for the night riot police are clearing out the

here in france in coffee along santa ana reno a small town in the suburb northwest of paris when police approached a young man they say in in the street in a residential area not far from the school they say this young man had been acting suspiciously when they approached him he threatened them they say he had a knife in his hands he was armed and then they opened fire they shot him dead now when they then approached the attacker that have been shot dead they looked and about 200 meters away police say they saw the body of a man on the ground police say that body had been decapitated now what we understand is that the victim was in fact a professor of history a teacher of history i should say in a secondary school high school i think you'd say in france not far from the scene where he was killed police say that it was just last week that this teacher had

actually taken a bunch of students and he had been teaching them about freedom of expression freedom of speech should have been a class and what he had shown them during that class as part of it was the front of the charlie hebdo newspaper that had some cartoons of the prophet mohammed and what police are saying is that they believe the attack is linked to the fact that those teacher showed those cartoons now police have a little bit more information about the attack and he was born in 2002 seems only 18 years old he was actually born in moscow. well 2 weeks ago the french president said islam is in crisis he gave a speech about renewed efforts to push religion out of education and the public sector in france during the address he said islam is a religion that is in crisis all over the world today we're not just seeing this in our country our challenge is to fight against those who go off the rails in the

that is has to be special a political basis so what happened to the is something that was different you know he came to this crime slogan very quickly let's time once things were happening in rancho you know not the 1st part even after the 2 weeks ago when these people was that he was you know people you know were we were talking in like he didn't even talk about evil tweets about so something is happening around us tension but it's today it's something you need to understand is something very tense around that issue it has to be again treat. but here is president is out campaigning in states he won in 2016 donald trump is now in mcallen georgia where he's addressing supporters he has a rally in florida earlier where he also reached out to senior citizens. and democratic nominee joe biden is campaigning in detroit before that during another

campaign stop in michigan he spoke about health care and again attacked president trump president trump's handling of the pandemic only 3 weeks to go before election day huge numbers of voters have already made their choice more than $22000000.00 americans have cost early ballots. the large turnout is attributed at least in part to people wanting to people way from large crowds in the risk of coronavirus on november 3rd several states including battlegrounds let wisconsin michigan florida have a ready past 20 percent of their total 2016 vote the political data firm target early says so far more democratic party supporters of voting early while among republicans voting is down compared to this time in 2016 oh mike hanna joins us live from washington d.c. a mix of both trump and biden are back out on the campaign trail but the big story of course as you were saying there just the sheer numbers of people who are voting early tell us what's been happening like. oh daryn you
3:12 am
mentioned that figure there are more than 20000000 americans have already voted this is a record for this time in an election an all time record in fact certainly there may be may be related to the coronavirus a lot of people wanting to vote early to avoid voting in person but there may be another factor here as well and that simply is that more people are going to vote now the suit be a very significant thing indeed because experts contend that when you get a higher vote you tend to get more democrats coming out and voting then did before they point to the fact that those who support republicans particularly a republican like donald trump with an established base all of those in that base will go and vote in the past democrats so they've had the support have not necessarily had the support at the polls so to put it short of war votes would mean a greater likelihood of the democratic victory that's according to most political pundits so these indicators that we are seeing at this particular stage just 18

days before the election point very much towards the fact that joe biden is on a roll and continues rolling derren and mike last night we saw those rival town hall style events that replaced the presidential debate i mean how useful were they to voters and is it likely to give anyone a bump in the polls do you think. well that had surprisingly high viewership and here came another surprise daryn is that normally on events like this one would expect that president trump would receive more viewers because of his base and also because of what some may describe as his shock or entertainment value however in those in those discussions last night those town halls joe biden got some 1000000 more viewers than did donald trump in terms of those are courting to nielsen ratings which is the gold standard of television ratings within the united states that in itself is exceedingly significant and
3:14 am
terms of criticism of those town halls most critics contend that joe biden came across as a moderate sort full person he addressed policy issues throughout donald trump came off as what donald trump often comes off and probably he saw as angry he was bullying he was making outrageous comments like mass do not necessarily contradict coronavirus he refused to condemn extreme rightwing q a movement all these kind of issues come to the fore these are the points on which donald trump one in 2016 essentially a shock value which had not been seen before all indicators are that it's not working for him this particular time around all polls have joe biden a long way ahead and a very significant crack in the republican fortress in recent days the republicans are starting to turn against donald trump in greater number a significant republican ben sasse susi in a basket senator was reported as telling
3:15 am
a large number of constituents highly critical of president trump describing it as someone who kicks kisses dictators behind says he would put it he was said that trump was disgusting towards women this is a republican senator who kept quiet through the impeachment hearings against donald trump and shares these thoughts of some $17000.00 nebraskans we. told by his staff these are signs of republican party that is beginning to panic and clearly somebody like bin sense who's standing for election on november the 3rd is trying to cut any ties to donald trump that may be there in order to protect his own political future very significant development there are at our mike hanna live for us in washington d.c. mike thank you. lots more to come here and i'm just here including the u.k. prime minister warns the nation to prepare for a no deal brigs it. 10 scenes outside a south african court where 2 black men are accused of killing

french police say a teacher has been beheaded in a suburb of northwestern paris he said a teacher had earlier shown cartoons of the prophet mohammed to students president emanuel markhor has condemned what he called an islamist terrorist attack. the u.k. prime minister says it's time his country prepared to break away from the e.u. with no trade deal with the brags that transition period ending on january 1st boris johnson told brussels there's no point continuing negotiations unless it changes course e.u. leaders say they're willing to keep trying to bring reports from london. this was supposed to be the summit which signed off on a trade deal instead it has provoked some of the bleakest assessments yet of the prospects for agreement. should be assured the state of our talks is not that we are stumbling over the issue of fishing which is the tactical argument made by the british but we are stumbling over everything everything we see e.u.
3:20 am
leaders had proposed 2 more weeks of last ditch talks but warned that the u.k. had to make the necessary moves to make an agreement possible that went down very badly in london and given that they have refused to negotiate seriously for much of the last few months and given that this summit appears explicitly to rule out a canada style deal i've concluded that we should get ready for january the 1st with a range wounds that are more like australia's an australian style deal really means no deal at all crucially johnson stopped short of calling off the talks and closing the door altogether but in an off camera briefing to journalists his official spokesman was more stark as far as we're concerned he said the trade talks are over the hardball rhetoric from downing street is setting alarm bells ringing here in london's financial district the square mile financial services represent 167000000000 dollars to the u.k. economy that's around 7 percent of g.d.p.

a decade the japanese government has been trying to figure out what to do with more than a 1000000 tons of radioactive water from its fukushima nuclear plant local media are reporting that it will be gradually released into the sea well the plant was destroyed in an earthquake and tsunami in 2011 the utility company that runs for cosima has been storing contaminated water on site but it will run out of space next year the japanese fishing industry has urged the government not to release it south korea still has a ban on imported fish from the fukushima region. bernie is from greenpeace he says dumping at sea may be the cheapest option but it's also unnecessary. well the thing to understand is that the government in japan would have everyone believe that it's only one type of radioactivity so called city and it's in the water again that's also not true there are many different people who plights in the water including strontium 90 which is the bone sticking cancer causing isotope. that will be
