another wave of covert 19 cases. nigeria's president sent out a warning to protesters after another night of widespread unrest and violence during the push for his resignation. so that in just an hour's time u.s. president donald trump will meet democratic nominee joe biden for the final debate ahead of the elections on november the 3rd organizers in nashville in tennessee have made changes to the format same did avoiding a repeat of trump's interruptions during the 1st debate let's cross to our white house correspondent can we how can his outside weather debate will be taking place in nashville in tennessee and say kimberly there will be an audience of tens of millions it promises to be quite a show so we have trouble maybe a breakthrough and biden i guess just needs to keep it steady.
3:02 am
yeah that's exactly it trying to avoid any major mistakes is really the goal for joe biden in all of this and for donald trump's part what he's trying to do is provoke that so what we expect throughout the 90 minutes is that donald trump will be according to his campaign at least less aggressive than he was the other time still bringing up some of the more pointed issues but at the same time allowing the former vice president to expand on his answers hoping that he may make a mistake or trip up at least that is the strategy but really this is a chance for millions of americans who have not yet cast their ballots to look at both of these men on the same stage for the last time before november 3rd and make up their mind who they wish to support and for donald trump the big question will be will he be as aggressive as he was in the 1st presidential debate he wasn't reason the 1st presidential debate between donald trump and joe biden according to
3:03 am
many political analysts was a low point in the 2020 u.s. election because i wonder as you do it over as you are president sure things up the u.s. president we're heatedly interrupted his democratic rival and also the moderator chris you're there waiting there is now early and just 3 days later trump was in the hospital after testing positive for cope with 19 raising questions about whether or not he knew he was affected with the virus when he took to the debate stage trumps refusal to do a virtual debate led to the cancellation of the 2nd presidential match up instead both nominees participated in their own separate town halls at the same time and on the same night but now with the final debate set to take place in nashville there are questions about trump's tactics and whether he'll take an aggressor. stance as he did in the 1st debate. what. will
3:04 am
bowling well. and so i don't think it will last long. one notable change this time the campaigns agreed to an uninterrupted rule which means the microphone of the candidate who doesn't have the floor will be muted trump is unhappy about the change and has repeatedly attacked the debate commission and the next moderator as biased against him. earlier this week the trump campaign sent out a letter to the debate commission complaining it changed the focus of the debate from foreign policy adding more domestic issues like covert 19 and racial injustice meanwhile biden has spent the week at home without any public events analysts believe he has the most to lose by
3:05 am
a poor showing in the final presidential debate. and again your candidate. what you do or say. the wrong question in a way. it's the undecided voter habit that's often try to win over in a presidential debate but there are fewer undecided voters this year than in 2016 with early voting surging most have already made up their mind about who they want to win on election day those can you tell us more about the choice of topics in this debate and how the trump team not all but enthusiastic about. the bestial some of them. upon topics between the campaigns will include climate change national security race in america fighting covert 19 american families and
3:06 am
also readership but other than those 2 minutes where the mikes will be patted down allowing the other person to speak it's pretty pretty free flowing that means that the cabots can choose not to answer the question talk about pretty much anything they want and what we expect is that donald trump will get personal in fact we expect that he will likely attack joe biden and specifically his son hunter by having bringing up the allegation that well joe biden was vice president that you favored policies that later allowed his son to profit with respect to china and also your brain so the question becomes how will joe biden to handle these personal attacks he stumbled a little bit when they 1st met for the 1st presidential match up the question will become whether or not he's got a prepared answer and whether it satisfies those so-called undecided voters but
3:07 am
again voting is surging at last count more than 47000000 americans have already cast their ballots so the question becomes whether or not this will be enough even if there is some sort of gaffe which is what the trump campaign is hoping for weather really will move the needle in sort of a row joe biden's lead in both battleground states and national polls so that's what we watching very carefully for but of course given that last debate will also be watching very carefully to see how the moderator is able to make sure there's equal time between both joe biden the democratic presidential nominee and donald trump the u.s. president whether the president's going to follow the rules. of the motor it's going to bring her up those christian well could tell us more about her. happy. yeah well the accusations against kristen welker who i should point out is a friend of mine a colleague professionally at the white house and has been for many many years is
3:08 am
that she is partisan there are allegations that her family has given to democratic causes and as a result there has been an attack by not just the u.s. president but also why republicans who say that she is heartless of that she is biased that she will not be objective in terms of her line of questioning so the pressure is building on kristen but again i can tell you from experience she's top notch from everything that i've seen in terms of her handling in fact she's known as being one of the most professional and objective journalist in the white house press corps so i have no doubt that she's going to do a good job but put yourself in the line of fire both campaigns know that there is so much at stake with very little time for in the case of the truck campaign to gain ground and close the gap in the polls and for joe biden it's to kind of keep the status quo so we'll look for every tactic they can but attacking the moderator
3:09 am
may not be the best when in fact it could even backfire on the president's 3 major players in the tonight show in the moderator is a key one of them kimberly more day to thanks a lot. let's bring in bill schneider in washington he's a political analyst of course in the public policy professor at george mason university bill great to see that is there a sense perhaps there is in fact more pressure on joe biden that you know he's very capable getting things rolling in the interim will be needling him. oh yes trump well in the last debate between the 2 of them trump came across as a bully he wasn't just needling him he was beating him to a pulp every time he had a chance what i'm interested in seeing tonight is how in the world are they going to be able to mute president chomp this could be quite a phenomenon if this is a guy who doesn't take kindly to being pushed around right when he was just discussing their correspondent saying the microphones muted it does give the one who's speaking the chills and talk about whatever they wanted it need not be the
3:10 am
question at hand that's right us me the question you want to ask the question i want to answer that's the way debates have always worked and you going to see more that tonight joe biden wants to make sure this election is all about a referendum on donald trump and that's likely to be negative because most americans have decided for set quite some time that they don't like donald trump they and he confirmed that negative impression in the 1st debate when he came across really as a bully and he better put those bullying tactics aside tonight if he wants to win new friends and more support the problem is there are many undecided voters kimberly said that earlier there are very few of them and so there's not many people going to make a big difference it's mostly a question of making sure your people turn out to vote and the other side doesn't donald trump the idea is to make it not a referendum on himself which would be negative but to make it a choice between donald trump and joe biden and to make joe biden look unacceptable
3:11 am
to many voters who want to familiar with him so what would it be what would it take for donald trump to do in this debate for us to be say speak in say 3 hours time at the end of a debate say well actually you know he won it and perhaps he's not going to chose. most important thing is to try to expose joe biden as a person with his share and with a questionable past his business dealings with china and through his son in the ukraine whether there are some shady things in the past that can raise questions about joe biden to make biden look like what he really is a member of the washington establishment that's not a very popular image in america people don't like a bully but they also don't like members of the washington establishment and many candidates have one election jimmy carter ronald reagan running against the washington establishment and the trump team certainly had be ramping up their attacks on him to biden haven't they. oh yeah they have hunter biden of course is
3:12 am
not a candidate and none of that there's been no backup for anything that he's charged but he could have some interesting new charges tonight we don't know and we don't know whether they're going to be true or not they can be fact checkers immediately going crazy during the debate trying to say is trumped really telling the truth or not what do you make of the various things that are coming out of the national intelligence office john rockliffe and russia and iran and so forth trying to interfere with the presidential election do you think that's going to play a part in this. well it might a good question is it's not entirely clear how why they were interfering do they are they trying to get trump reelected because they think that's a bad image for the united states the interference of foreign countries is a very troubling thing and the fact that they can get hold of voting records which has now been demonstrated is deeply disturbing to many americans the question is does it make a difference in people's choice between trump and biden i'm not sure that is true
3:13 am
president trump loves to turn politics into thin joe biden is it a steady eddie nothing untoward which do you think of those approaches can win the night tonight. as an entertainer that's what he called himself when he went on television some years ago people find him in gauging they don't like him they don't admire him the big problem he has in this election is people don't think he has good character and that's been the center of biden's campaign that if you vote for donald trump you're voting for someone whose character is at least questionable if not downright bad and it did show up as a bully in the 1st debate he has to watch those tendencies he has to be very careful i don't think he'll win many friends but he has to keep himself from appearing too ugly and too mean spirited we've talked about how donald trump may attack joe biden what about the other way around what will be the main weapons in the in the biden. coronavirus coronavirus coronavirus he'll talk about it all the
3:14 am
time because that's what this election is about at least for democrats democrats are far more worried about it they're far more conscious of it the trump campaign has the trump himself as president has tended to be dismissive of the entire pandemic and that's been extraordinarily damaging to him the history books will forever record the 20 twentieth's action as the coronavirus election in american history and that's what joe biden hopes will get him a victory. finally build. their nervous about how their man is going to perform tonight because he does his own thing disney and they told me they've been trying to hold him back to restrain him. good luck with that i don't think they're going to be able to do that trump will do whatever he wants the question is does he realize that he comes across as bullying and somewhat ugly when he acts when he does whatever he wants which is to beat other people up and to show himself as sometimes cruel and not always truthful or honest or honest and voters don't like
3:15 am
that he has never had a pop public and a positive public image right there is trying to say that he has never had a positive public image since the day he was elected where he didn't even carry the popular vote in the united states he's got real problems with public opinion americans don't have a very favorable view of him and believe me biden is going to try to expose that even more in the debate tonight. this will but it's not going to be a average presidential debate as it will unfold to 45 minutes it will be starting something like that and we'll vote to getting your a dissection of it is in the coming days thanks very much indeed sure. and you can watch the final u.s. presidential debate in full right here and on to their as they say it about 45 minutes time that said who won g.m.t. on friday. one of the issues likely to come up at tonight's debate is the ideological makeup of the supreme court which at the moment has
3:16 am
a conservative majority joe biden was asked on the c.b.s. 60 minutes program whether he would pack the nation's top court with liberal judges if elected what i will do is put together a national commission a bipartisan commission of scholars constitutional scholars democrats republicans liberal conservative and i will ask them do over a 180 days come back to me with recommendations as to how to reform the court system because it's getting out of whack president trump supreme court nominee amy kenney barrett has moved a step closer to being confirmed the votes are $1210.00 no it's the nomination will be reported faber belleek to the floor with a unanimous vote yes the senate judiciary committee approved a nomination even though the democrats boycotted the ballots it will now go to a full senate vote and that will be on monday republicans hold a majority making its confirmation looks can fish it has more now from washington.
3:17 am
it was really symbolic it was saying to their supporters look we've tried everything we can and there is not much we can do here in fact the judiciary committee brought their own rules there's meant to be at least 2 members of the democratic minority on the committee when the vote they pushed it through $12.00 to 0 but the senate rules are normally enforceable it will go to the fool senate for a vote on monday the 1st steps in that will be on friday when they will start the movement the democrats again talking about parliamentary procedure and doing what they can to delay the vote perhaps even suggesting that the senate should adjourn till after the election that's not going to happen there is one your public and senator who said that she will not vote because it's too close to an election there is another who is likely to fall the same way but that still doesn't matter with 53 seats in the senate take those away you've still got 51 and it looks as if every
3:18 am
connie ballot by monday will be the next supreme court justice of the united states what is interesting is that this is taking this away from donald trump as an election issue he could have pushed this through till after the election so you've got to support me will get on the bench it's almost some would suggest and certainly to a couple of people i've been speaking to a suggestion that the republican senate doesn't quite believe that donald trump can win the presidential election so they're pushing through this nomination while they've still got the numbers on the president pushing with the nomination at this side of it. but i'm also led on these are including back for a 4th time name side hariri as prime minister as a country battles a political and economic crisis. and more than 20 people die in guinea is the opposition refuses to accept the election result.

remember when armenia was bombing and our house was hit my sister was 11 she was wounded and my brother was killed i remember all of this it's engraved in my memory when turtill got bombed i ran away with my 3 children i had lived through all of this always scared for them i already knew this sounds but they didn't. but these are different times for azerbaijan it now has a well equipped army so when solem i know by now the meanest son said he wanted to volunteer she gave him her blessing. because he got injured i told it's for the sake of color have to get our land back no matter the cost if i could join the fight right now. it's been 26 years since as a brit john was defeated by armenia but now its army is making territorial gains and there's a growing hope among many here that they will soon return to their last land. but.

3:53 am
of the presidential rival there's a lot of tension there's a lot of anticipation about how donald trump is going to present this and presenting his arguments and how he's going to craft that there's no question the trump administration more specifically his campaign have said what they hope will happen are 2 things number one they hope that the president will be more forceful when it comes to personal issues issues surrounding joe biden namely his son hunter biden and whether or not the former vice president favored policies well he was in office that later helped his son profit from both china and ukraine once he left office so that's the 1st thing we're going to watch for but then 2nd also going to watch to see just exactly how the president is going to conduct himself is he going to let. the answers breathe as we say will joe biden have an opportunity to speak
3:54 am
of it extensively like him potentially make a mistake that is what the trump campaign is hoping for now if none of that happens then donald trump's in trouble because he's trailing in battleground states and he's trailing in national polls so 6 in terms of double trouble he has a lot to lose in that respect you can't pull that off for joe biden if donald trump successful then joe biden has the most to lose because right now he's got a healthy lead and he just needs to maintain that so and we expect that on top of that that we will see from the president after to kind of rouse joe biden at a job by the president see what that might look like and make the argument that it's not something that would favor most americans thanksgiving. let me come to you know the the rules the way these rules have changed is just going through these very quickly say initially the 1st question i believe will go to president trump and he'll have the 1st 2 minutes of uninterrupted time then the vote for the vice
3:55 am
president biden will get the same question he'll have 2 minutes well on their interrupted time and then they'll get it hammer and tongs and i do think that's going to favor. i think it will favor joe biden the former vice president because he was barely able to get a word in edgewise in the 1st debate so i think that given longer periods of time to speak 2 minutes is a very long obviously but that's where as i understand it the microphones can be muted by the tech by the sound technicians not by the moderator kristen welker so i think it will benefit biden because i think he was most effective in the 1st debate when he would turn directly to the camera and speak to the american people so if he gets some uninterrupted time to do that he should be ok and i think it will actually hurt in the sense that he wants to be aggressive and he wants to be an interrupt her and that's how he came to washington and that's how he wants to go about this last debate but on the other hand the vast majority of people who
3:56 am
watched the 1st debate thought that the way to drop back to his antics were i don't losing cause your expertise is presidential studies how does this debate compared to previous ones that indeed this particular election compared to previous elections would you say. just about everything in the donald trump era it's unprecedented in this way we would rarely have had in the modern era 3 terrible crises facing the country and on top of that extreme polarization so we have obviously the coca crisis the economic collapse because of coven and the racial unrest in our cities and towns around the country so that's a problem on the other hand this is precedented in that you have someone like a jimmy carter in 1980 or you had george h.w. bush in 1902 trying to run for reelection with one or 2 crises they faced certainly
3:57 am
in both instances an economic set of problems recessions in the case of carter the iranian hostage crisis in 1980 so i think that this has all the earmarks of a possible one term presidency remains to be seen come november 3rd but i if i had to compare it to 2 other presidents and how they want about their debates i would pick 981902 and those 2 incumbents lost in kimberley in a sense that's where you could argue that the pressure is on joe biden because he has this this sizable need and what he's got to avoid is making a gaffe and he is very capable of making errors in the. yeah but he does have some vulnerabilities that i think are important to highlight number one voters of color have technically always flocked for the most part with the democratic candidate and what we're seeing in some polls particularly when it comes to men who are latino or african-american that they're not necessarily
3:58 am
gravitating to joe biden in the same way they seem to like donald trump sort of bravado in his bluster and his sort of forthright speaking if you could call it that so that's something that joe biden is going to have to try and address on the debate stage and the other thing that is going to have to happen in all of this on the part of double trump is that he's going to have to make an appeal for some of the demographics that he is not winning in specifically when it comes to suburban female voters who have not like donald trump's approach in washington he came as the disruptor but many it was particularly women in the suburbs are feeling that this is too much uncertainty at this time particularly with the pen demick and so the president's going to have to try and convince them to so as we know more than 47000000 americans 6 have already cast their ballot early voting it's trying to
3:59 am
convince those that have not yet cast their ballot to really go in favor of either candidate is going to watch that very carefully the other thing that we're going to have to watch very carefully is who or 6 what donald trump has kind of tried to 0 in on the past when it comes to joe biden that hasn't been particularly effective and so this is where joe biden is going to have to tread carefully as he has these sort of long expanded our answers that we expected to the questions he's going to have to try and kind of demonstrate this mental acuity because for many weeks donald trump was hammering on joe biden's age they're both advance they're both in their seventy's. it is joe biden that is all there right now 77 years old so 6 if he has any sort of slip up and he doesn't appear sharp this butt hurt him and so he needs to make the case to all americans that hey i can do this job for 4 more years even 8 more years if i were running for reelection so there is some vulnerability
4:00 am
there and we expect donald trump for his campaign they say that he's going to try to exploit that right let's take a look at the scene there at this stage there are natural in tennessee the president donald trump and his democratic rival joe biden just shortly to meet for the 2nd and final time at the belmont center in nashville it's going to be a 90 minute prime time meeting tens of millions of people watching to let the soul mate is a part of the 1st questions they say will go to president trump and then to joe biden and as we wait for him to come out bob or if i can come to you. as can be almost certainly has said that the focus will for joe biden to make him go on the defensive will be an attack on his son hunter biden how do you think he'll manage that. well you certainly should be prepared for it because the president tried to stick in his eye on the 1st debate mentioning
4:01 am
a son not so much on the ukrainian issue or the china issue are making money off of his father status but rather the fact that he is a recovering drug addict so certainly the way to get joe biden upset is to speak ill about either of his 2 sons or anyone in his family so i think joe biden will be ready for it and he certainly should be you would think under most circumstances that the way to respond to that would be to come back at the president about the issues related to his own family but my sense is joe biden does not want to do that and i think the way he should look at it is that what do most people care about 100 biden now if they watch fox news all the time and they're part of the super bass. the trout kept campaign and then they'll be excited about it but trump needs to move beyond that base in order to win this election and can believe in she is the the biden he kind of hunkered down preparing for this
4:02 am
debate with me over the past week and whereas trump himself is out on the campaign trail do you think that's going to work through biden's advantage is he missed out by not being on the campaign trail. we can see why the biden campaign did that i mean they've got everything to lose by some sort of down by the former vice president we should point out i read i covered joe biden when he was in the senate before it was vice president he does have a share of doubts and so we probably will see donald trump trying to get some of that temper that we know exists in joe biden out in public on the debate stage where he might make some mistakes but in terms of the strategy the fact that joe biden has been largely absent from the campaign trail. he's got a couple of things in his favor. he has one of the most charismatic campaigners campaigning on behalf of him right now and that is barack obama and so he has that
4:03 am
but it could look and make him look weak like he's not his own man and so this is a vulnerability that the trump campaign could 0 in on not just donald trump but the campaign itself in the days following that joe biden really is a carry over of the obama administration that he doesn't have any sort of original ideas so these are some of the things that we can expect and i do want to kind of the acco what our guest has been saying with regard to the issue of hunter biden because it is a strategy that could kind of backfire on donald trump you know it's dangerous territory for a number of reasons for donald trump to go after joe biden and his son hunter biden's business dealings for 2 reasons number one as as we've discussed here is that donald trump it may be the pandora's box he doesn't want to open given his own children and their dealings with china but the other issue is that there's an incredible personal story that joe biden has he has overcome tragedy on multiple
4:04 am
occasions not only the loss of his wife and child but also more recently his son beau biden to cancer and so there could be a lot of sympathy for joe biden so. we're just pulling out there because the debate is about to start this is the mortuary to the coast and welcome let's listen in for health and safety protocols designed by the commission's health security adviser the audience here in the hall has promised to remain silent no cheers booze or other interruptions except right now as we welcome to the stage former vice president joe biden and president donald j. trump. thank
4:05 am
you. and i do want to say a very good evening to both of you this debate will cover 6 major topics at the beginning of each section each candidate will have 2 minutes uninterrupted to answer my 1st question the debate commission will then turn on their microphone only when it is their turn to answer and the commission will turn it off exactly when the 2 minutes have expired after that both microphones were made on but on behalf of the voters i'm going to ask you to please speak one at a time the goal is for you to hear each other and for the american people to hear every word of what you both have to say and so with that if you're ready let's start and we will begin with the fight against the coronavirus president trump the 1st question is for you. the country is heading into a dangerous new feigns more than 40000 americans are in the hospital tonight with coded including record numbers here in tennessee and since the 2 of you last shared a stage 16000 americans have died from colvin so please be specific how would you
4:06 am
leave the country during this next stage of the coronavirus crisis 2 minutes uninterrupted so as you know 2200000 people modeled out were expected today we closed up the greatest economy in the world in order to fight this horrible disease that came from china it's a worldwide pandemic so all over the world you see the spikes in europe and many other places right now if you notice the mortality rate is down 85 percent the excess mortality rate is way down and much lower than almost any other country and we're fighting it and we're fighting it hard there is a spike there was a spike in florida and it's now gone there was a very big spike in texas it's now gone there was a very big spike in arizona it's now gone and there are some spikes in surges in other places they will soon be gone and we have a vaccine that's coming it's ready it's going to be announced within weeks and it's
4:07 am
going to be delivered we have operation work speed which is the military is going to distribute the vaccine i can tell you from personal experience i was in the hospital i had it and i got better and i will tell you that i had something that they gave me a therapeutic i guess they would call it some people could say it was a cure but i was in for a short period of time and i got better very fast or wouldn't be here tonight and now they say i'm immune whether it's 4 months or a lifetime nobody has been able to say that but i'm immune more and more people are getting better we have a problem that's a worldwide problem this is a worldwide problem but i've been congratulated by the heads of many countries on what we've. able to do with the if you take a look at what we've done in terms of goggles and masks and gallons and everything else and in particular ventilators we're now making ventilators all over the world thousands and thousands
4:08 am
a month distributing them all over the world it will go away and as i say we're rounding the turn where rounding the corner it's going away ok former vice president biden to you how would you leave the country out of this crisis you have 2 minutes uninterrupted 220000 americans dead you hear nothing else i say tonight to this anyone who is responsible for not taking control in fact not saying i'm i take no responsibility initially anyone is responsible for that many deaths should not remain as president of united states of america we're in a situation where there are a 1000 deaths a day now a 1000 deaths a day and there are over $70000.00 new cases per day. compared to what's going on in europe as the new england medical journal said they're starting from a very low rate we're starting from very high rate the expectation is we'll have
4:09 am
another $200000.00 americans dead be timed between now and the end of the year for just war these mass the president's own advisor told them we could save $100000.00 lives and we're in a circumstance where the president thus far and still has no plan no comprehensive plan what i would do is make sure we have everyone encouraged to wear a mask all the time i would make sure we move in the direction of rapid test and invested in rapid test and i would make sure that we set up national standards as to how to open up schools and open up businesses so they can be safe and give them the where with all the financial resources to be able to do that we're in a situation now where the new england medical journal one of the serious most serious journals in the in the whole world said for the 1st time ever that this is the way this president has responded this crisis has been absolutely tragic and so folks i will take care of this i will and this i will make sure we have
4:10 am
a plan president trump i'd like to follow up with you and your comments you talked about taking a therapeutic i assume you're referencing general you also said a vaccine will be coming within weeks this is that a guarantee is no it's not a guarantee but it will be by the end of the year but i think it has a good chance or to companies i think within a matter of weeks and it will be distributed very quickly to tell us which companies johnson and johnson is doing very well mode earners doing very well pfizer is doing very well and we have numerous others and then we also have others that we're working on very closely with other countries and particularly europe let me follow up with you because this is new information and you have said a vaccine is coming soon within weeks now your own officials say it could take well into 2021 at the earliest for enough americans to get vaccinated and. even then they say the country will be wearing masks and distancing into 2022 is your timeline realistic no i think my timeline is going to be more accurate i don't know that they're counting on the military the way i do but we have our generals lined
4:11 am
up one in particular that's the head of logistics and this is a very easy distribution for him he's ready to go as soon as we have the vaccine and we expect to have 100000000 viles as soon as we have the vaccine he's ready to go vice president biden your reaction and just 40 percent of americans say they would definitely agree to take a coronavirus vaccine if it was approved by the government what steps would you take to give americans confidence in a vaccine if it were approved make sure it's totally transparent have the scientists world see it know it look at it go through all the processes and by the way he still this is the same fellow told you this is going to end by easter last time is the same fellow who told you that don't worry we're going to end this by the summer we're about to go into a dark winter a dark winter and he has no clear plan and there's no prospect that there's going to be a vaccine available for the majority of american people before the middle of next year president from here reaction he says i have no plan to have
4:12 am
a dark winter and at all we're opening up our country we've learned and studied and understand the disease which we didn't at the beginning when i closed and banned china from coming in heavily in fact and then ultimately europe but china was in january months later he was saying i was in a phobic i did it too soon now he's saying oh i should've i should have you know moved quicker but he didn't move quicker he was months behind me many months behind me and frankly he ran the h one n one swine flu and it was a total disaster far less lethal but it was a total disaster had that had this kind of numbers $700000.00 people would be dead right now but who's a far less lethal disease look his own. the person who ran that for him who as you know was his chief of staff said it was catastrophic it was horrible we didn't know what we were doing now he comes up and tells us how to do
4:13 am
this well so everything that he said about the way every single move that he said we should make that's what we've done we've done all of it but he was way behind us vice president biden your thoughts are responses he is on a forward but not because he shut down access from china and he did it later after 40 countries already done that in addition to that when he did he made sure that we had 44 people that were in there in china trying to get their will on to determine what exactly this source was what the president say in january he said no he said this is the he's being transparent the president of china is very transparent we all my debt of gratitude we owe to we have to thank him and then what happened was we started talking about using the defense act to make sure we go out and get whatever is needed out there to protect people and again i go back to this he had nothing he did virtually nothing and then he gets out of the hospital and he talks about we're this is oh don't worry so all can be over soon. there's not another
4:14 am
serious scientist in the world thinks it's going to be over soon president your reaction is over soon i say we're learning to live with it we have no choice we can't lock ourselves up in a basement like joe does he has the he has the ability to lock himself up i don't know he's obviously made a lot of money someplace but he has this thing about living in a basement people can do that by the way as the president couldn't do that i'd love to put myself in the basement or in a beautiful room in the white house and go away 'd for a year and a half until it disappears i can't do that and every to every meeting i had every meeting i had and it made a lot of families including gold star families and military families every meeting i had and i had to meet them i had to it would be horrible to have canceled everything i said you know this is dangerous. and you catch it and you know i caught it i learned a lot i learned a lot great doctors great hospitals and now i recovered 99.9
4:15 am
of young people recover 99 percent of people recover we have to recover we can't close up our nation we have to open our school and we can't close up our nation or you're not going to have a nation and of course the c.d.c. has said young people can get sick with coverage like the one can pass it by president biden i want to talk broadly about strategy though you have to respond to that 30 seconds please we're going to have a question number one he says we're you know we're learning to live with it people are learning to die with it you folks who have an empty chair at the kitchen table this morning that man or wife going to bed tonight or reaching over to try to touch their out of habit where their wife or husband was is gone learning to live with it c'mon we're dying with you because he's never said he said it's dangerous when's the last time is it really dangerous still we dangerous you tell the people who's dangerous now what should they do about the danger and you say i take no responsibility let me talk about your kidney i take very i take full responsibility
4:16 am
it's not my fault that he came here it's china's fault and you know what it's not joe's fault that it came here either it's china's fault they kept it from going into the rest of china for the most part but they didn't keep it from coming out to the world including europe in ourselves as president by the fact is when we knew it was coming when it hit what happened with the the president say he said don't worry it's going to go away begun by easter don't worry the quorum whether don't worry maybe inject belief he said he was kidding when he said that a lot of people thought it was serious a whole range of things the president said even today he thinks we are in control we're about to lose 200000 more people. president look perhaps just to finish this i was kidding on that but just to finish this one eye closed he said i shouldn't have closed and that went on for months what nancy pelosi said the same thing she
4:17 am
was dancing in the streets and jotted down in san francisco but one eye closed he said this is a terrible thing it is then a phobic i think it called me racist even and because i was closing it to china now he says i should have closed it earlier it just joe it doesn't and i didn't say either of those things you certainly did. it i talked about design a phobia in a different context it wasn't about closing the border to chinese coming to the united states all right i want to talk about both of your different strategies to hand the thoughts i shouldn't of close the border let's that's obvious is that do you want to respond to that quickly vice president like ok let's talk about your different strategies toward dealing with this mr vice president you suggested you would support a new shutdowns of scientists recommended it what do you say to americans who are fearful that the cost of such down the impact on the economy the higher rates of hunger depression domestic and substance abuse outweighs the risk of exposure of virus when i would say is i'm going to shut down the virus not the country it's his
4:18 am
ineptitude because the bar across the country to have to shut down in large part why business is gone under why schools are closed why so many people of lost are living and why they're concerned those other concerns are real that's why he should have been instead of in a sand trap it was golf course he should have been negotiating with nancy pelosi and the rest of the democrats republicans about what to do about the acts they were passing for billions of dollars to make sure people had the capacity but you haven't ruled out more shutdowns oh no i've not shutting down late but there are look they need standard the standard is if you have a reproduction rate in a community that's above a certain level everybody says slow up more social this is see do not open bars and do not open gymnasiums do not. open to you get this under control under more control but when you do open give the people the capacity to be able to open and have the capacity to do it safely for example schools schools they need a lot of money to grow they need to deal with ventilation systems we need to deal
4:19 am
with smaller classes were teachers more pods and he's refused to support that money early stop to now let's talk about schools president and i think we have to respond if i might please and then i have a following here and i appreciate that look all he does is talk about shutdowns but forget about him his democrat governors cuomo in new york you look at what's going on in california you look at pennsylvania north carolina democrats democrats all they're shut down so tight and they're dying they're dying and he supports all these people all he talks about is shutdowns no we're not going to shut down and we have to open our schools and it's like as an example i have a young son he also tested positive by the time i spoke to the doctor the 2nd time he was finally just one away young people i guess it's their immune system let me follow up with the presidents of you've demanded schools open in person and insists they can do it safe but just yesterday boston became the latest city to move its public school system entirely online after
4:20 am
a coronavirus spike what is your message to parents who worry that sending their children to school will in danger not only their kids but also their teachers their families i want to open the schools the transmittal rate to the teachers is very small but i want to open the schools we have to open our country we're not going to have a country you can't do this we can't keep this country close this is a massive country with a massive economy people are losing their jobs they're committing suicide this depression alcohol drugs at a level that nobody has ever seen before this abuse tremendous abuse we have to open our country you know i've said it often the cure cannot be worse than the problem itself and that's what's happening and he wants to close down. and he'll close down the country if one person in our in our massive bureaucracy says we should close it down president biden you're definitely not true we ought to be able to walk and chew gum at the same time we ought to be able to safely open but would

need resources to open you need to be able to for example if you can open a business have social distance even the business you need to have if you have a restaurant in need to have plexiglass divider so people cannot infect one another you need to be in a position where you can take testing rapidly and know whether a person is in fact infected you need to be able to trace you need to be able to provide all the resources that are needed to do this and that is not inconsistent with saying that what we're going to make sure that we open safely and by the way all you teachers out there not that many of you are going to die so don't worry about it so don't worry about it come on president top let me follow up with you quickly though i will say this if you go and look at what's happened to new york it's a ghost town it's a ghost town and when you talk about plexiglas these are restaurants that have dying these of businesses with no money putting up plexiglas is unbelievably expensive and it's not the answer i mean you're going to sit there in
4:22 am
a cubicle wrapped around with plastic it's these a business is that dying joe you can't do that to people which is going to take a look at new york and what's happened to my wonderful city for free so many years i love that it was vibrant it's dying everyone's leaving new york take a look i swear the new york has done in terms of turning the curve down in terms of the number of people dying and i don't look at this in terms of the way he does blue states and red states they're all the united states and look at the states that are having such a spike in the coronavirus they're the red states they're the states in the midwest of the states in the upper midwest that's where the spike is occurring significantly but they're all americans all americans and what we have to do is say where. these masked number one make sure we get the help that the businesses need that has money's already been passed to do that it's been out there since the beginning of the summer and nothing's happened recent new york has lost more than
4:23 am
40000 people 11000 people in nursing or resident of what and i say strike take a look at what's happening in pennsylvania where they've had it close take a look at what's happening with your friend in michigan where her husband's the only one allowed to do anything it's been like a prison now it was just ruled unconstitutional take a look at north carolina they're having spikes and they've been closed and they're getting killed financially we can't let that happen joe you can't let that happen we have to open up and we understand the disease we have to protect our seniors we have to protect our elderly we have to protect especially our seniors with heart problems and diabetes problems and we will protect we have the best testing in the world by far that's why we have so many cases let me follow up with you before we move on to our next section president trump this week you called dr anthony 1000 the nation's best known infectious disease expert quote a disaster you described him and other medical experts as quote idiots if you're
4:24 am
not listening to them who are you listening to let me i'm listening to all of them including anthony i get along very well with their theory but. he did say don't wear masks he did say as you know this is not going to be a problem i think he's a democrat but that's ok he said this is not going to be a problem we're not going to have a problem at all when joe says that i said anthony found out she said and others and many others and i'm not knocking him a lot nobody you know look nobody knew what this thing was nobody knew where it was coming from what it was we've learned a lot but anthony said don't wear masks now he wants to wear masks and that he also said if you look back exact words he uses exact words this is no problem this is going to go away soon so he's allowed to make mistakes he happens to be a good person vice president biden your response quickly and then we're going to move on to the next x. our response is that you think about what the president knew in january didn't tell the american people he was told this was a serious fires to spread in the air and it was much worse then and much worse than
4:25 am
the flu he went on record and said to one of your colleagues recorded that in fact he knew how dangerous it was we didn't want to tell us didn't want to tell a speech didn't want us to panic he didn't want to marriage don't panic he panicked but i guess what in the meantime we find out in the new york times you have a day that in fact his folks went to wall street and said this is a really dangerous thing and a memo out of that meeting not from his or a ministration but from some of the brokers said sell short because we've got to get moving it's a dangerous problem this is america here thirty's that i have to respond and that we're going to survive and i don't know somebody want to well sort you know the one that takes all the money from wall street i don't take it i have you have raised a lot of money tremendous amounts of money and every time you raise money deals a major i could raise so much more money as president and as somebody that knows most of those people i could call the heads of wall street the heads of every company in america i would blow away every record but i don't want to do that
4:26 am
because it puts me in a bit position and then you bring up wall street you shouldn't be bringing up wall street because you have the. and that takes the money from wall street not me my dad i could blow away your records that like you wouldn't leave we don't need money we have plenty of money in fact we beat hillary clinton with a tiny fraction of the money that she was a gentleman we're going to on about average we're going to be rich in $43.00 all right we're going to move on to our next section which is national security and i do want to start with the security of our elections and some breaking news from overnight just last night top intelligence officials confirmed again that both russia and iran are working to influence the selection both countries have obtained u.s. voter registration information these officials say and iran sent intimidating messages to florida voters this question goes to you mr vice president what would you do to put an end to this threat you have 2 minutes uninterrupted i made it clear and i ask everyone else to take the pledge i made it clear that any country no matter who it is that interferes in american elections will pay a price that you will pay
4:27 am
a price and it's been overwhelmingly clear this election won't game get into the last one this election that russia has been involved china has been involved to some degree and now we learn that that. iran is involved they will pay a price if i'm elected they're interfering with american sovereignty that's what's going on right now they're interfering with american sovereignty and the best of my knowledge i don't think the president said anything to putin about it i don't think he's stuck into a lot i don't think he said a word i don't know why he hasn't said a word to putin about it and i don't know what he has recently said if anything to the right news my guess is he probably be more outspoken with regard to the iranians but the point is this folks we're in a situation where we have foreign company countries trying to interfere in the outcome of our election his old own national security adviser told him that what is happening with his buddy well known gushing well i will his buddy rudy giuliani
4:28 am
he's being used as a russian pawn he's being fed information that is russian. that is not true and then what happens nothing happens and then you find out that everything is going on here about russia is wanting to make sure that i do not get elected the next prez united states because they know i know them and they know me i don't understand why this president is unwilling to take on putin when he's actually paying bounties to kill american soldiers in afghanistan when he's engaged in activities that are trying to destabilize all of nato i don't know why he doesn't do it but as worth asking the question why isn't that being done any country interferes with the us will in fact a price because they're affecting our sovereignty president trump same question to you let me out let me ask you guys are going to have 2 minutes to respond for 2 elections in a row now there has been substantial interference from foreign adversaries what would you do in your next term to put an end to this to minute i don't know let me
4:29 am
respond to the 1st part as joe answered joe got 3 and a half 1000000 dollars from russia and it came through putin because he was very friendly with the former mayor of moscow and i was the mayor of moscow's wife and you've got 3 and a half $1000000.00 your family got 3 and a half $1000000.00 and you know someday you going to have to explain why did you get 3 to have i never got any money from where i don't get money from russia now about your thing last night i knew all about that and through john who is john ratliff who is fantastic d.n.a. he said the one thing that's common to both of them they both want you to lose because there has been nobody tougher to russia with between the sanctions nobody tougher than me and russia between the sanctions between all of what i've done with nato you know i've got the nato countries to put up an extra $130000000000.00 going to $420000000000.00 a year that stood against russia i sold while he was selling pillows and sheets i
4:30 am
sold the tank busters to ukraine there has been nobody tougher. russia than donald trump and i'll tell you they were so bad they took over the the submarine port you remember that very well during your term during you and barack obama they took over a big part of what should have been ukraine you handed to him but you were getting a lot of money from russia they were paying you a lot of money and they probably still are but now with what came out today it's even worse all of the e-mails the e-mails the horrible even of the kind of money that you were raking in you and your family and show you a vice president when some of this was happening and it should have never happened and i think you owe an explanation to the american people why is it somebody just had a news conference a little while ago who was essentially supposed to work with you and your family but what he said was damning and regardless of me i think you have to clean it up
4:31 am
and talk to the american people maybe you can do it right now. vice president biden you may respond and then i want to follow up on the election security i have not taken a penny from any foreign source ever in my life we learned that this president paid 50 times the tax in china has a secret bank account with china does business in china and in fact is talking about me taking money i have not taken a single penny from any country what so ever ever number one number 2 this is a president i released all of my tax returns 22 years go look at them 22 years of my tax return you have not released a single solitary year of your tax returns what are you hiding why are you unwilling to foreign countries are paying you a lot russia is paying you a lot china is paying a lot and you're hotels and all your businesses all around the country all around the world and china is building a new road to
4:32 am
a new. golf course you have overseas so what's going on here why don't release your tax return or stop talking about corruption president trump your response. i called my accountants underwrote it i'm going to release them as soon as we can i want to do it and it and show how successful have great this company is but much more important than that people are saying $750.00 i asked them a week ago i said what did i pay they said cyril you prepaid tens of millions of dollars i prepaid my tax tens over the last number of years tens of millions of dollars i prepaid because at some point they think it's an estimate they think i may have to pay tax so i already prepaid it nobody told me that you know but i tell you that only shammy and it wasn't written whenever they write this if they keep talking about $750.00 which i think is a filing fee but let me just tell you i prepaid millions and millions of dollars in taxes number one number 2 i don't make money from china you do i don't make money
4:33 am
from ukraine you do i don't make money from russia. you made 3 and a half $1000000.00 joe and your son gave you they even have a statement that we have to give 10 percent to the big man you're the big man i think i don't know maybe you know what you're the big man i think you sense that we have to give 10 percent to the big man joe what's that all about it's terrible hard gentlemen i want to ask you both some question i have out all of i'm going to i'm going to let you both respond very quickly you just said you spoke to your account of south potentially releasing your taxes did he tell you when you can release them do you as somebody is that your headline is when you're going to release i get married is worse than the tea party got treated because you had a lot of people in there for deep down in the us they treat me horribly we made a deal that was also adult until i decided to run for president i get treated very badly by the i.r.s. very unfairly but we had a deal done as soon as we're completed with the deal i want to release it but i
4:34 am
have paid millions and millions of dollars and it's worse than paying i paid in advance is called prepaying your taxes i paid it i want to ask you both about questions regarding your potential foreign entanglements and questions that have been raised to give you both a chance something is not about this more broadly respond very quickly and then i'll get to my question why did you he's been saying this for 4 years show us just show us stop playing around you've been saying for 4 years you can reduce your taxes nobody knows you mr president they do know is you're not paying your taxes or you're paying taxes that are so low when last time he said it what he paid he said i only pay that little because i'm smart i know how to game the system c'mon c'mon folks so president trump and then i want to get to 2 questions to both of you. i was put through a phony which aren't. for 3 years it started before i even got elected they spite of my campaign no president should ever have to go through what
4:35 am
i went through let me just say this molar and 18 angry democrats and f.b.i. agents all over the place spent $48000000.00 they went through everything i had including my tax returns and they found absolutely no collusion and nothing wrong $48000000.00 i guarantee if i spend $1000000.00 i knew joe i could find plenty wrong because very kind of things that you've done and that kind of money is that your family is taken i mean your brother made money in a rat me millions of dollars your other brother brother made a fortune and it's all through you joe and they say you get some of it and you do live very well you have houses all over the place you look very well all right gentlemen let me just ask some questions about all of this probably vice president biden there have been questions about the work your son has done in china and for ukrainian energy company when you were vice president in retrospect was anything about those relationships inappropriate or unethical not there was
4:36 am
a recall here's with you with regard to ukraine. we had this whole question about whether or not because he was on the board i later learned of a bruise not a company that somehow i don't something wrong yet every single solitary person when he was going through his impeachment testifying under oath who worked for him said i did my job if. i carried out u.s. policy not one single solitary thing was out of line not a single thing number one number 2 the guy who got in trouble in ukraine was this guy trying to bribe the ukrainian government to say something negative about me which they would not do and did not do because it never ever ever happened my son has not made money in terms of this thing about what he talking about china i have not had it the only guy made money from china is this guy is the only one nobody
4:37 am
else has made money from china not that i didn't do it let me let you in my question to you i could i just want one thing very good son didn't have a job for a long time was sadly no longer in the military service i won't get into that and he didn't have a job as soon as he became vice president but respond that the best local not the best reputation in the world i hear they paid him 183008 month listen to this 183 and they gave him a 3000000 dollar upfront payment right and he had no energy i'm going to let the vice president so i'd like to but really on that i just get to question to you a very go basis is that everybody investigated that no one said anything he did was wrong in ukraine ok president something for you since you took office you've never divested from your business you've personally promoted your properties abroad a report this week which was referenced does indicate that your company has a bank account in china so how can voters know that you don't have any foreign conflict of interest i have many bank accounts and they're all listed and they're
4:38 am
all over the place i mean i was a businessman doing business the bank again you're referring to which is everybody knows about. it is listed the bank again it was in 2013 that's what it was it was open to do it was closed in 2015 i believe and then i decided because i was going to do i was thinking about doing a deal in china like millions of other people i was thinking about it and i just cited i'm not going to do it didn't like it i just said not to do it had an account open and i closed it ok excuse me and then unlike him where his vice president and he does business i then decided to run for president after that that was before so i closed it before i even ran for president let alone became president big difference he is the vice president of the united states and his son his brother and his other brother are getting rich they're like a vacuum cleaner they're sucking on it that we sell the sake of we do you know it's sort of on i do want to ask you president biden about china let's talk about china
4:39 am
more broadly there have of course president trump has said that they should pay for not being fully transparent in regards to the coronavirus if you were president would you make china pay and please be specific what would that look like what i would make china do is play by the international rules not like he has done he has caused the deficit with china to go up not down with china up not down we are making sure that in order to do business in china you have to give all your intellectual property you have to get of have a partner in china is 51 percent we would not do that at all number one number 2 we're in a situation where china would have to play by the rules internationally as well when i met we she and when i was still vice president he said we're setting up paradine if occasions owns and in the south china sea you can fly through them i said we're going to fly through that we just flew b. $52.00 b. one bombers through it we're not going to pay attention they have to play by the
4:40 am
rules and what's he do he embraces guys like the thugs like. in north korea and and and the chinese president and putin and others and he pokes his finger that i've all of our friends all of our allies we make up only we're 25 percent 25 percent of the world's economy we need to be having the rest of our friends with us saying to china these are the rules you play by them or you're going to pay the price for not paying by them economically that's the way i will run it and that's what we did you know pulled we still tiresome a range of other things when we were president vice president all right let's talk about north korea let's we know have to respond to the ok very quickly i'm going to have i want to get i have dollars from john it's not it's a little bit big 10 minutes in office and being in air force 2 number one number 2 is a very strong e-mail talking about your family wanted to make $10000000.00 a year for introductions president time on china policy about what you know what
4:41 am
are you going to do what's the civically are you going to do to make china pay you've said your crystal is paying they're paying billions and billions of dollars i just gave $20.00 you said since i just gave $28000000000.00 to a farmers texas area i want to. it's what taxpayers' money is going on you know the taxpayers it's called china china the age of $28000000000.00 and you know they did to pay it you know they devalued their currency and they also paid up and you know got the money our farmers are great farmers because they would targeted you never judge them anything also i charge them 25 percent or dumped steel because they were killing our steel industry we were not going to have a steel in that k. and now we have a still ok vice president biden your response please our response is look this isn't about there's a reason why he's bringing up all this malarkey there's a reason for he don't want to talk about the the so the substantive issues it's not about his family and my family it's about your family and your family's hurting
4:42 am
badly if you're making less than if you're middle class family you're getting hurt badly right now you're sitting at the kitchen table this morning deciding well we can't get new tires or ball because we have to wait another month or so are we going to be able to pay the mortgage or who's going to tell or she can't go back to to community college there are the decisions you're making in the middle class families like i grew up in scranton and claymont they're in trouble we should be talking about your families but that's the last thing he wants to talk about i want to say i want to tell us how you were throwing a break i don't want to start until he's 10 seconds mr president said technical political statement let's get off this china thing and then he looks at the family around the table everything just a typical politician want to see the let's talk about article ok that's what got elected that let's talk let's get off the subject of china let's talk around sitting around the table or come on joe you could do but we're going to talk about north korea now president trump you've met with north korean leader kim jong un 3 times you've talked about your beautiful letters with him you've touted the fact
4:43 am
that there hasn't been a war or a long range missile test and yet north korea recently rolled out its biggest ever intercontinental ballistic missile and continues to develop its nuclear arsenal do you see that as a betrayal of the relationship or it's just 30 seconds here because we need to get on to the next. when i met with barack obama we sat in the white house right at the beginning had a great conversation was supposed to be 15 minutes and it was well over an hour he said the biggest problem we have with north is north korea he indicated we would be in a war with north korea guess what it would be a nuclear war and he does have plenty of nuclear capability in the meantime have a very good relationship with a different kind of a guy but he probably thinks the same thing about me we have a different kind of relationship we have a very good relationship and there's no war and you know about 2 months ago he broke into a certain area they said oh there's going to be trouble he said no they're not because he's not going to do that and i was right look instead of being in
4:44 am
a war where millions of people so you know it's 25 miles away millions and millions 32000000 people and sell millions of people would be ok right now president we don't have that authority and that a good thing i should you vice president biden to your north korea conducted for nuclear tests under the obama administration why do you think you would be able to rein in this persistent threat because i'd make it clear which we are making clear to china they had to be part of the deal because here's the route i made it clear as a spokesperson do straight and i went to china that they said why are you moving your missile defense up so close why are you moving more forces here why you continue to do. military maneuvers with south korea i said because north korea is a problem and we're going to continue to do it so we can control them we're going to make sure we can control them and make sure they can not hurt us and so if you want to do something about it step up and help if not it's going to continue what has he done he's legitimize north korea he's talked about his good buddy who's a thug
4:45 am
a thug and he talks about how we're better off and they are have much more capable missiles able to reach us territory much more easily than ever did before me follow up with you by president biden you've said you wouldn't meet with kim jong un without preconditions are there any conditions under which you would meet with him on the condition that he. would agree that he would be better drawing down his nuclear capacity to get that the korean peninsula should be nuclear free zone all right let's move on to american family and they try to play with him back and they tried to mate with him he wouldn't do it he didn't like. obama he didn't like and he wouldn't do it ok gotta have a sponsor that when we do it you know it's ok you know what north korea we're not no war we have a good relationship you know people of those that have a good relationship with the leaders of our country have a lot of hunting we have a lot of questions to get now drag on and we had a good relationship with hitler before he in fact invaded europe russia to europe come on because the reason why he would not meet with president obama is because
4:46 am
president obama said we're going to talk about denuclearization we're not going to legitimize you we're going to continue to push stronger and stronger sanctions on you that's why he would meet with us all right now to didn't want let's use i don't talk about american the i'm going to ask president on ok we ate there find me a mess north korea was a mess when in fact if i remember the 1st song with our emotions tonight there was a very dangerous period in my 1st 3 months before we sort of work things out a little bit ok there was a very good they left us a mess and obama would be i think the 1st to say it was the single biggest problem he thought that our country ok let's move on to american families and the economy one of the issues that's most important to them is health care as you both know today there was a key vote on a new supreme court justice a macone beret and health care is at the center of her confirmation fight over 20000000 americans get their health insurance through the affordable care act it's
4:47 am
headed to the supreme court and your administration mr president is advocating for the court to overturn it if the supreme court does overturn that law those 20000000 americans could lose their health insurance almost overnight so what would you do if those people have their health insurance taken away you have 2 minutes uninterrupted 1st of of already done something that nobody thought was possible through the legislature terminated the individual mandate that is the worst part of obamacare as we call it the individual mandate where you have to pay a fortune for the privilege of not having to pay for. bad health insurance i terminated it's gone now it's in court because obamacare is no good but then i made a decision run it as well as you can to my people great people run it as well as you can i could have gone the other route and made everybody very unhappy they ran it premiums are down everything's down here's the problem no matter how well you run it it's no good what we'd like to do is terminate it we have the individual
4:48 am
mandate i don't know that it's going to work if we don't win it we'll have to run it and we'll have obamacare but it will be better run but it no longer is obamacare because without the individual mandate it's much different preexisting conditions will always stay what i would like to do is a much better health care much better. what always protect people with preexisting so i'd like to terminate obamacare come up with a brand new beautiful health care the democrats will do it because they'll be tremendous pressure on them and we might even have the house by that time and i think we're going to win the house ok you'll see but i think we're going to win the house but come up with a better health care always protecting people with preexisting conditions and one thing very important we have 180000000 people out there that have great private health care far more than we're talking about with obamacare joe biden is going to terminate all of those policies these are people that love the health care people that have been successful middle income people been successful they have
4:49 am
$180000000.00 play it's $180000000.00 people families under what he wants to do which will basically be socialized medicine he won't even have a choice they want to terminate 180000000 plans we have done an incredible job of health care and we're going to do even better at. ok and i misidentified yes this is for your health care plan calls for building on obamacare so my question is what is your plan if the law is ruled unconstitutional by the supreme court you have 2 minutes uninterrupted what i'm going to do is pass obamacare with the public option become biden care the public option is an option that says that if you in fact do not have the wherewithal to be if you qualify for medicaid and you do not have the where with all the in your state to get medicaid you automatically are enroll providing competition for insurance companies that's what's going to happen secondly we're going to make sure we reduce the premiums and reduce drug prices by
4:50 am
making sure that there's competition that doesn't exist now by allowing medicare to negotiate drug prices with the insurance companies thirdly the idea that i want to eliminate private insurers the reason why i had such a fight for 20 candidates for the nomination was i. i support private insurance that's why i did not one single person with private insurance would lose their insurance under my plan nor did they under obamacare they did not lose their insurance unless they chose they wanted to go to something else lastly we're going to make sure we're in a situation that we practically protect preexisting there's no way you can protect preexisting conditions none 0 you can't do it in the ether he's been talking about this for a long time there is no he's never come up with a plan i guess we're going to get the preexisting condition plan the same time we get the infrastructure plan that we've been waiting for since 17181920 the fact i
4:51 am
still believe for a few more minutes i know you get anxious. the fact is that he's already cost the american people because of his terrible handling of a covert virus an economic spillover 10000000 people have lost their private insurance and he wants to take away 22000000 more people have an obamacare and over 110000000 people with preexisting conditions and all the people from covert are going to have preexisting conditions what are they going to do i have a follow up for you vice president biden it relates to something that president trump said he's accusing you of wanting socialized medicine what do you say to people who have concerns that your health care plan which includes a government insurance option takes the country one step closer to a health care system run entirely by the government what i say it's ridiculous it's like saying that you know we're the idea that the fact that there's a public option people can choose that makes it a socialist plan look the difference between the president i think health care is not a privilege it's
4:52 am
a right everyone should have the right to have affordable health care and i am very proud of my plan it's gotten indorsed by all of the major labor unions as well as as well as a whole range of other people who in fact are concerned in the medical field this is something that's going to save people's lives and this is going to give some people an opportunity and up. to need to have health care for their children how many of you whom are worried and rolling around in bed tonight wondering what in god's name are going to do if you get sick because you've lost your home insurance your your health insurance your company's going under we have to provide health insurance for people and affordable rate and that's what i do president tragedy he was there on for 47 years he didn't do it he was now there is vice president for 8 years and it's not like it was 25 years ago it was 3 in 3 quarters it was just a little while ago right less than 4 years ago he didn't do anything he didn't do it he wants socialized medicine and it's not that he wants it his vice president i
4:53 am
mean she is is more liberal than bernie sanders and once and even more bernie sanders once said the democrats won you're going to have socialized medicine just like you want to with fracking we're not going to have froch we're going to stop frac it we're going to stop fracking then he goes to pennsylvania if he gets a nomination will he get very lucky to get it and he goes to pennsylvania and he says oh we're going to have fracking and you never asked that question and by the way so far i respect very much the way you handle it this i have to the way that somebody should ask the question you can ask he goes for a year it will be have the right to have it we will have a number we have a number of topics now but that's you know we had a question we're going to get to the same thing with socialize i asked the resizing president your response for our response is people deserve to have affordable health care period period period period and the biden care proposal will in fact to provide for that affordable health care lower premiums what we're going to do is going to cost some money it's going to cost over 7 $150000000000.00 over 10 years to do it and they're going to have lower premiums you can buy into better plans the
4:54 am
cheaper plans to lower your premiums deal with uncertain and unexpected billing and have your drug prices drop significantly he keeps talking about it he hasn't done a thing for anybody on health care out of there is that one here actually and i want to talk about how much that public got our heads talking about socialized better. and when he and health care when he talks about a public option he's talking about destroying your medicare total destroyed and destroying in social security and this whole country will come down you know bernie sanders try to learn his state he tried it in his state his governor was a very liberal governor they want to make it work ok let's get wesley in my hospital back to work it doesn't work that i very confused guy he thinks he's running against somebody else he's running gets joe biden i beat all those other people because i disagreed with that joe biden he's running to get and the idea that we're in a situation where they're going to distort medicare this is the guy that the actuary medicare said if in fact there is so security if in fact he continues to
4:55 am
withhold his plan to withhold the tax on social security social security will be bankrupt in by 2023 with no way to make up for it this is the guy who's tried to cut medicare so doc don't i mean the idea that donald trump is lecturing me on social security and medicare come on he tried to get it out he tried to herd some have succeeded in the years ago and years ago go back and look at the records he tried to hurt social security years ago all right that but i didn't know that when they announced a president i didn't want to the next question he said we're not going to talk about a vomit elected if he's elected the stock market will crash ok let i guess i'm going to say i stand on matters very quickly book. the idea that the stock market is booming this is only measure of what's happening where i come from in scranton and claymont that people don't live off of the stock market just enough just in the
4:56 am
last 33 years during this crisis said the billionaire in this country made according to the wall street $700000000000.00 more $1.70 more dollars because that's his only measure what happens to the ordinary people out there what happens to them let's talk about our own going on here and also we're presenting move our own i want to qasr through the roof mark on amazon uk are through the roof all right he doesn't come from scranton that's like one of he lived there for a short period of time before he even knew i'm going to move on in the last question the people of pennsylvania i mean he's gone so my next question to you on the status of tonight more than 12000000 people are out of work and as of tonight 8000000 more americans have fallen into poverty and more families are going hungry every day those hit hardest are women and people of color they see washington fighting over a relief bill mr president why haven't you been able to get them the help they need 30 seconds here because nancy pelosi doesn't want to approve it i do hear the president i do but i still have to get unfortunate that's one of the reasons i
4:57 am
think we're going to take over the house because of her nancy pelosi doesn't want to approve anything because she'd love to have some victories on a date called november 3rd nancy pelosi does not want to approve it we are ready willing and able to do something don't forget we've already approved 3 plans and it's gone through including the democrats in all fairness this one she doesn't want it's near the election because she thinks it helps her politically i think it hurts her politically it was a vice president of the republican leader in the united states senate said he can't pass it he will not be able to pass it he does not have republican votes why did he talking to his republican friends let me follow up with you vice president you made it i you know you can rebut me you let me out of place president by the question you are the leader of the democratic party why have you not pushed the democrats to get it. for the american people i haven't they have for sure look they passed this act all the way back in the beginning of the summer this is like it's not new it's been out there this hero's actors have been sitting there and look at what's
4:58 am
happening when i had was in charge of the recovery act with $800000000000.00 i was able to get $145000000000.00 to local communities that have to balance their budgets the states have to balance the budgets and then have to fire fire to have to fire firefighters teachers 1st responders law enforcement officers so they could keep their cities and counties running he will not support that they have not done a thing for them and mitch mcconnell said let them go bankrupt let him go bankrupt come on what's the matter will that was passed in the house was a bailout of badly run high crime democrat well run by democrats cities and states it was a way of getting a lot of money billions and billions of dollars to this case it was also a way of getting a lot of money from our people's pockets to people that come into our country illegally how we were going to take care of everything for them and what that does
4:59 am
and i'd love to do that i'd love to help them but what that does everybody all over the world will start pouring into our country we can't do it this was a way of taking care of them this was a way of spending on things that had nothing to do with covert as to your question but it was really a big bailout for a badly run democrat cities and state all right i want to i get elected i'm not going to i'm running as a proud democrat going to be an american president i don't see red states and blue states what i see is american united states and folks every single state out there finds themself in trouble they're going to start laying off for the red or blue cops firefighters 1st responders because teachers because they have to balance their budget and the founders were smart they allowed the federal government to deficit spend to compensate for the united states of america i want to talk about the minimum wage 10. and mr vice president we are talking a lot about struggling small businesses and business owners these days do you think this is the right time to ask them to raise the minimum wage of course support of
5:00 am
15 dollars at a minimum are due because i think one of the things we're going to have to do is we're going to have to bail them out too we should be bailing them out now those small businesses you got one in 6 of them going under they're not going to be able to make it back they passed the price package that allows us to be able to call p.p.p. money supposed to go to help them do everything from organize how they can deal with their business is being open safely to schools how they can make classrooms smaller how they can hire more teachers how they can put ventilation systems in they need to help the businesses as well as the schools need the help but this is because these guys will not help them is not giving them any of the money we're going to move on to immigration is a very but i want to say we have yakked our small businesses by raising the minimum wage that's not helping i think it should be a state alabama is different than new york new york is different from vermont every state is different it should be a stadium abusive very has to help it's very important we have to help our small
5:01 am
business you know how do you helping your small businesses when you're forcing wages what's going to happen and what's been proven to happen is when you do that these small businesses fire many of their employees that are generally you are going to what are raising the federal minimum wage to $15.00 a hour you said recently you would consider raising the federal minimum wage to what i have right now a lot of still think and i would consider it to an extent but it is not really like what i wrote in a 2nd administration but not to a level that's going to put all these businesses out of business it should be a state up should look every in different places i know different places they're all different in some places $15.00 is not so bad in other places other states $15.00 up in a residence out saying of course one size president 2 jobs one job. below poverty people make in $678.00 an hour these 1st responders were all clapped for as they come down the street because they've allowed us to make it what's happening
5:02 am
they deserve a minimum wage of 15 dollars and you being below that put you below the poverty level and there is no evidence that when you raise the minimum wage businesses go out of business that is simply not true we're going to talk about immigration we're going to talk about immigration now gentlemen and we're going to talk about families but in this context mr president your administration separated children from their parents at the border at least 4000 kids you've since reversed or 0 tolerance policy but the united states can't locate the parents of more than 500 children so how will these families ever be reunited children are brought here by coyote's and lots of bad people cartels and they're brought here and they used to use them to get into our country we now have as strong a border as we've ever had were over 400 miles of brand new wall you see the numbers and we let people in but they have to come in legally and they come in through metro you read a nightly news tell you about their family just say this to pre-build cages you
5:03 am
know they used to say i built the cages and then they had a picture in a certain newspaper there was a picture of these horrible cages and they said look at these cages president trump built them and then it was determined they were built in 2014 that was him do you think we'll have to reunite the kids yes we're going on a very what we're trying very hard but a lot of these kids come out without the parents they come over through cartels and through coyotes and through gangs vice president biden let me bring you into this conversation quick response in another question to you is 500 plus kids came with parents they separated them at the border to make it a disincentive to come to begin with. been a real tough were really strong and guess what they cannot is that coyote's didn't bring them over their parents were with them they got separated from their parents and it makes a lot of stock in violates every notion of who we are as a nation let me ask you if i was to nice they did it we change the policy your
5:04 am
response is that i we did not they sent the great ages they who built the cage let's just talk about what will the cages to talk about we're talking about what happened parents were ripped their kids were ripped from their arms and separated and now they cannot find over 500 sets of those parents and those kids are alone no where to go no where to go it's criminal it's criminal let me address it as it is they went back to review and i reporters everything if they are so well taken care of there in facilities that was so tween some of the guy visits united but just ask one question who built the cages i'd love you to ask of that who built the cage let me ask about your immigration policy mr vice president the obama administration did fail to deliver immigration reform which had been a key promise during the administration that also presided over record deportations as well as family detentions at the border before changing course so why should voters trust you with an immigration overhaul now because it made
5:05 am
a mistake made to it took too long to get it right took too long to get it right i'll be president of states not vice president states and the fact is i've made it very clear within 100 days i'm going to send to united states congress a pathway to citizenship for over 11000000 undocumented people and all of those so-called dreamers those docket kids they're going to be immediately certified again to be able to stay in this country and put on a path to citizenship the idea that they are being sent home by this guy and they want to do that is they go to a country they've never seen before i can imagine your. 5 years old your parents are taking across the rio grande river and it's this and it's illegal and you say oh no mom leave me here i'm not going to go it's they better hear my neighbor man model said over $20000.00 more 1st responders out there taking care of people during this crisis we owe them we owe them
5:06 am
a present still he had 8 years to do what he said he was going to do and i've changed to do without having a specific we got rid of catch and release we got rid of a lot of horrible things that they put in and that they lived with but he had 8 years he was vice president he did nothing except build cages to keep children in vice president writing a response we catch and release you know he's talking about there if in fact you had a family came across they're arrested they in fact were given a day to show up for their hearing they were released and guess what they showed up for a hearing this the 1st president has to united states america this anybody seeking asylum has to do it in another country that's never happened before in america that's never happened before in america you come to the united states and you make your case that i seek asylum based on the following on the following premise why i deserve an american law there said unit squalor on the other side of the river.
5:07 am
president trying to respond on horseback and that will be just shows that he has no understanding of immigration of the laws catch and release is a disaster a murderer would come and a rapist would come in a very bad person would come in we would take their name we have to release them into our country and then you say they come back less than one percent of the people come back we have to send to try south and border patrol out to find them we would say come back in 2 years 3 years we're going to give you a court case you did perry mason we're going to give you a court case when you say they come back they don't come back joe they never come back only the really i hate to say this but those with the lowest i.q. they might come back a president of the letter again vice president biden a chance to respond and then we're going to move on to the i don't know that charge you vice president biden your response no lawyers told you simply not true what
5:08 am
you're good at they don't come back check it out all right let's move it we don't have to worry about it actually terminated it would have to worry about that is right on to the next year actually $125.00 kids not know we're garage neighbor going to be in lost or all right let's talk about our next section which is race in america and i want to talk about the way black and brown americans experience race in this country part of that experience is something called the talk it happens we're guard less of class and income parents who feel they have no choice but to prepare their children for the chance that they could be targeted including by the police for no reason other than the color of their skin mr vice president in the next 2 minutes i want you to speak directly to these families do you understand why these parents fear for their children or do or do you know my daughter is a social worker and she saw she's really written a lot about the issues and had her graduate degree from universal principle and
5:09 am
social and you know. one of the reasons why and it of working on the side of wilmington delaware inches 90 percent african-american was to learn more about what was going on what i didn't i never had to tell my daughter if she's pulled over make sure she puts for us a traffic stop put both hands on top of the wheel and don't reach for the glove box because someone may shoot you but a black parent no matter how wealthy or how poor they are has to teach their child when you're walking down a street don't have a hoodie on when you go across the street making sure that you in fact if you get pulled over just yes or no sir hands on top of the wheel because you are in fact a victim whether you're a 1st and making 300000 child of 300000 dollars a year person or someone who is on food stamps the fact of the matter is there is institutional racism in america and we have always said we've never lived up to it
5:10 am
that we hold these truths to be self-evident all men and women are created equal guess what we have never ever lived up to put it we've always constantly been moving the needle further and further to inclusion not exclusion this is the 1st president to come along and says that's the end of that we're not going to do that anymore we have to provide for economic opportunity better education better health care better access to schooling better access to opportunity to borrow money to start businesses all the things we can do and i've laid out a clear plan as to how to do those things just to give people a shot it's about accumulating the ability to have wealth as well as it is to be free from violence. president trump same question to you and let me remind you of the question i would like you to speak directly to these families do you understand why these parents fear for their children yes i do and again he's been in government 47 years he never did a thing except in 1994 when he did such harm to the black community and they were
5:11 am
called and he called them super predators and he said that he said it super predators and they kept never live that down 1994 you crime bill the super predators nobody has done more for the black community than donald trump and if you look with the exception of abraham lincoln the possible exception of but the exception of abraham lincoln nobody has done what i've done in criminal justice reform obama and joe didn't do it i don't even think they tried because they had no chance at doing it they might have wanted to do it but if you had to see the arms i had to twist to get that done it was not a pretty picture and everybody knows it including some very liberal people that cried in my office they cried in the oval office 2 weeks later they're out saying gee we have to defeat him criminal justice reform prison reform opportunity zones
5:12 am
with tim a great senator from south carolina he came in with this incredible idea for opportunity zones it's one of the most successful programs people don't talk about it tremendous investment is being made biggest beneficiary the black and hispanic communities and then historically black colleges and universities have to 3 years of coming to the office i love some of those guys they were great they came into the office and they said i said what do you do it after 3 years i said why do you keep coming back because we have no funding i said you don't have to come back every year we have to come back because president obama would never give them long term funding and i did 10 year long term funding and i gave them more money than they asked for because they said i think you need more and i said the only bad part about this is i may never see you again because i get very friendly with them and they like me and i like them but i saved. colleges and universities and we're going to talk about both of your records but your response to that by star sponsor that
5:13 am
is i never ever said what your cues may have seen the fact of the matter is in 2000 though after the crime bill event and in the law for a while this is a guy who said the problem with the crime bill there's not enough people in jail there's not enough people in jail and go on my website get the quote the date when he said it not enough people he talked about marauding gangs young gangs and the people who are going to maraud our cities this is a guy who went to central park 55 innocent black kids he continued to push for making sure that they got the death penalty none of them were none of them were guilty of what the crime of the crimes they were suggested look and talk about he granted he did in fact that 20 people he commuted 20 people sentences we commute over a 1000 people sentences over 1000 the very law he's talking about is a law that in fact initiated by barack obama and secondly we're in
5:14 am
a situation here where we the federal prison system was reduced by $38000.00 people under our ministration and one of these things we should be doing there should be no no minimum mandatories in the law that's why i'm offering $20000000000.00 to states to change their state laws to eliminate minamata tori's and set up drug courts no one should be going to deal because they have a drug problem they should be going to rehabilitation not to jail we should fundamentally change the system and that's what i'm going to do but why didn't he do it 4 years ago why didn't you do that 4 years ago even less than that why do you lie and you are vice president you keep talking about all these things you're going to do and you're going to do this but you were there just a short time ago and you guys did nothing we did our joe i ran because of you i ran because of barack obama because you did a poor job if i thought you did a good job i would have never. i would never run iran because if you look at it you know you're a politician i read because of you our vice president biden your response to that
5:15 am
and then i do have some questions for both of you i tell you what i hope he does a look at me because what's happening here is you know who i am you know who he is you know his character you know my character you know reputations for honor in telling the truth. i am anxious to have this race i am anxious to see this take place i am the character of the country is on the ballot our characters on the ballot look at as closely let me ask them follows me please respond to those that have cellphones true about russia ukraine china other countries iraq if this is true then he's a corrupt politician so don't give me the stuff about how you're this innocent baby you know they're calling it a corrupt politician nobody had a drop i want to stay on the issue of race we're talking about legacy from hill president trying nobody's talking about race right now and i do want to stay on the issue of race president on how does respond to that because look very clear are 50
5:16 am
former national intelligence folks who said that what this he's accusing me of is a russian plan and they have said that this is has all the care for 5 former heads of the cia both parties say what he's saying is a bunch of garbage nobody believes it except his and his good friend rudy giuliani you mean the laptop is another russia russia russia hoax and you got exactly what does this tell you exactly what is aware he's going all right up is russia yes i mean i should i want to stay on the issue of right you have to be kidding here we go again with the russia we're going to continue on the issue of race mr president leaves described the black lives matter movement as a symbol of hate you've shared a video of a man chanting white power to millions of your supporters you've said that black professional athletes exercising their 1st amendment rights should be fired what do you say to americans who say that kind of language from a president is contributing to a climate of hate and racial strife where you have those in the 1st time i ever
5:17 am
heard of black lives matter they were chanting pigs in a blanket talking about police pigs pigs talking about our police pigs in a blanket for i am like bacon i said that's a horrible thing and they were marching down the street and that was my 1st glimpse of black. matter i thought it was a terrible thing as far as my relationships with all people i think i have great relationships with all people i am the least racist person in this room what do you say to americans who are concerned by that rhetoric i don't either i mean i don't know what to say i got criminal justice reform done in prison reform an opportunity zones i took care of black colleges and universities i don't know what to say they can say anything i mean they can say anything it's a very it's breaks me said because i am i am the least racist person i can't even see the audience because it's so dark but i don't care who's in the audience i'm
5:18 am
the least racist person in this room ok vice president biden let me ask you very quickly and then i have a follow up question for you abraham lincoln here is one of the most racist presidents we've had in modern history he pours fuel on every single free system fire every single one started off his campaign coming down the escalator saying he's going to rid of those mexican rapist he's banned muslims because they're muslims he has moved around and made everything worse across the board he says to them about the poor borders last time we were on stage here he said i told him to stand down and stand ready come on this guy is a dog whistle about as big as a fork or president i'm going to give you 10 seconds to respond and i have made a reference to abraham lincoln where did that command i mean you said you had one where did it no no i said not since abraham lincoln has anybody done what i've done for the black community and i'm sorry to say i'm abraham lincoln i said not
5:19 am
since abraham lincoln has anybody done what i've done for the black community now you have done nothing other than the crime bill which put. that tens of thousands of black men mostly in jail all right and i mean you know why not let me say are you married hikers. i look at what's happening with the voting rate though let me add it was never that i treated them about a very badly this is a take a look at what's happening out there nice president biden let me give you a chance to respond within this context crime bills that you supported in the eighty's and ninety's contributed to the incarceration of tens of thousands of young black men who had small amounts of drugs in their possession their sons their brothers their fathers their uncles whose families are still to this day some of them suffering the consequences so speak to those families why should they vote for you one of the things is that in the eighty's we passed 100 percent all 100 senators voted for a bill on drugs and how to deal with drugs it was a mistake i have been trying to change
5:20 am
a sense and particularly the portion on cocaine that's why i've been arguing that in fact we should not send anyone to jail for a pure drug offense they should be going into treatment across the board that's what we should be spending money and that's why set up drug courts which are never funded by our republican friends they should not be going to jail for a drug or an alcohol problem they should be going into treatment treatment that's what we've been trying to do that's what i'm going to get done because i think maybe the american people have now seen that in fact it was a mistake to pass those laws related to drugs but they were not in the crime bill but why didn't he get it done see it's all talk no action with these politicians why didn't he get it done that's what i'm going to do when i become president you were vice president along with obama as your president your leader for 8 years why didn't you get it done yet 8 years to get it done now you're saying you're going to
5:21 am
get it done because you're all talk and no action jake got a lot of it on we release 30 that i think i 38000 prisoners left from here got out and 38000 prisoners were released from federal prison we have there were over a 1000 people who were given clemency we have fact we're the ones that put in the leisure. and saying we could look at pattern and practice of police departments and what they were doing how they were conducting themselves i could go on but we began the process we began the process we lost an election that's why i'm running to win back that election and change is terrible policy let us ask that what is it i want questions why didn't you do it in the 8 years a short time ago why didn't you do it you just said i'm going to do that i'm going to do this you put $10.00 thousands of mostly black young men in prison and now you're saying you're going to get you're going to do that why didn't you get it and yet 8 years with obama you know i joke because you're all tall and no action right
5:22 am
vice president right now that we're going to move on to the next section where the republican congress. to answer well you know you got to talk them into it you're so right you're going to talk them into it we're going to move on to our next sex like i did with criminal justice reform i had talked democrats into a gentleman your dear that we're running out of dime so we've got to get on to climate change things you both have very different visions on climate change president trump you say that environmental regulations have hurt jobs in the energy sector vice president biden you have said you see addressing climate change as an opportunity to create new jobs for each of you how would you both combat climate change and support job growth at the same time starting with the president trying you have 2 minutes uninterrupted so we have the trillion trees program we have so many different programs i do love the environment but what i want is that clean is crystal clear water that cleanest air we have the best lowest number in carbon
5:23 am
emissions which is a big standard that i notice obama goes with all the time not joe i haven't heard joe used the term because i'm not sure he knows what it represents or means but i have heard obama use it and we have the best carbon emission numbers that we've had in their 85 years under this administration we are working so well with industry but we here's what we can't do look at china how filthy it is look at russia look at india it's filthy the air is filthy the paris accord i took us out because we were going to have to spend trillions of dollars and we were treated very unfairly when they put us in there they did us a great disservice they were going to take away our businesses i will not sacrifice tens of millions of jobs thousands and thousands of companies because of the paris accord it was so unfair china doesn't kick in until 2030 russia goes back to a low standard and we kicked in right away it would have been it would have been it
5:24 am
would have destroyed our businesses so he wrote. we have done an incredible job environmentally we have the cleanest air the cleanest water and the best carbon emission standards that we've seen in many many years vice president why have it destroyed our industries vice president biden 2 minutes to you uninterrupted. climate change climate warming and global warming is the next essential threat to humanity we have a moral obligation to do with it and we're told by all the leading scientists in the world we don't have much time we're going to pass the point of no return with the next 8 to 10 years 4 more years of this man eliminating all the regulations that were put in biased to clean up the climate to clean up to limit the the limit of emissions will put us in a position where we're going to be in real trouble here's what we have a great opportunity i was able to get both all the environmental organizations as
5:25 am
well as labor the people worried about jobs to support my climate plan because what it does it will create millions of new good paying jobs we're going to invest in for example 500-050-2500 extension 00 charging stations on our highways so that we can own the electric car market in the future in the meantime china is doing that we're going to be in a position where we're going to see to it that we're going to take 4000000 existing 1000000000 buildings and 2000000 existing homes and retrofit them so they don't leak as much energy saving hundreds of millions of barrels of oil in the process and creating significant number of jobs and by the way the whole idea of what this is all going to do it's going to create millions of jobs and it's going to clean the environment our health and our jobs are at stake that's what's happening and what right now by the way wall street firms indicated that my plan my my plan will
5:26 am
in fact create $18600000.00 jobs $7000000.00 more than he is this from wall street and i'll create one trillion dollars more in economic growth than his proposal does not on climate just on the economy a president from care about and said very strongly $6500.00 would. we take it away from families under his plan that his plan is an economic disaster if you look at what he wants to do you know the if you look at his place resident who aren't you know developed it a o c plus 3 they know nothing about the climate i mean she's got a good line of stuff but she knows nothing about the climate and they're all hopping through hoops for a a c. plus 3 look. the real playing course $100.00 trillion dollars if we had the best year in the history of our country for 100 years we would not even come close to a number like that when he says buildings they want to take buildings down because
5:27 am
they want to make bigger windows into smaller windows is far as they're concerned if you had no window it would be a lovely thing this is the craziest plan that anybody has ever seen and this wasn't done by smart people this wasn't done by anybody frankly i don't even know how it could be good they want to spend 100 trillion dollars that's their real number he's trying to say it was 6 it's $100.00 trillion dollars they want to knock down buildings and build new buildings with little tiny small windows media and many other things and many other things may have the vice president and we're running out of time and we have a lot more to buy since roy are there until let's hear from the vice president i have a number more question i don't know where he comes from our complaint with his numbers were in $100.00 trillion dollars give me a break this plan was and this is planned indorsed for every major every major environmental group and every labor group labor because they know the future of
5:28 am
lies the future lies and must be unable to breathe and they know there are good jobs in getting to sit there and by the way the fastest growing industry in america are is is is the electric the sees me a solar energy and wind he thinks wind causes cancer windmills is the fastest growing jobs and they pay good prevailing wages $4550.00 an hour we can grow and we can be cleaner if we go the route i propose president turns me on and then i have we are all energy independent for the 1st time we don't need all of these countries that we had to fight war over because we needed their energy we are energy independent i know more about wind than you do to extremely expensive kills all the by. it's very intermittent it's got a lot of problems and they happen to make the windmills in both germany and china and the fumes coming up if you're a believer in carbon emission the fumes coming up to make make these massive
5:29 am
windmills is more than anything that we're talking about with natural gas which is very clean one of the thing find me solar so that i love solar but solar doesn't quite have it yet it's not powerful and yet to to really run our big beautiful factories that we need to compete with the world so fault it's all a pipe dream but you know what we'll do we're going to have the greatest economy in the world but if you want to kill the economy get rid of oil industry you want to and what about fracking our ally me now when he has let me allow the vice president i. oppose fracking you said it i tape i did show the terry put it on your website put it on it on the website the fact of the matter is you're lying would you allow banning fracking i do rule up any fracking because the answer we need we need other industries to transition to get to ultimately a complete 00 emissions by 2025 where i will do with fracking over time is make
5:30 am
sure that we can capture the emissions from the fracking capture their emissions from gas we can do that and we can do that by investing money into any who is to transition to that i have one more question in this particular let me have you is against rack and he said it i will show that you tomorrow. against fracking until he got the nomination went to pennsylvania then he said but you know what pennsylvania he'll be against it very soon because his party is totally against fracking on federal land i said no fracking or oil on is not at all let me ask this question in this section and then i want to move on to our final section president some people of color are much more likely to live near oil refineries and chemical plants in texas their families who were. the plants near them are making them sick they were going to stray ssion has rolled back regulations on these kinds of facilities why should these families give you another 4 years in office the families that we're talking about are employed heavily and they're making
5:31 am
a lot of money more money than they've ever made if you look at the kind of numbers that we produce for hispanic or black for asian it's 9 times greater the percentage gain that it was under in 3 years that it was under 8 years of the 2 of them to put it nicely 9 times more now. somebody lives i have not heard the numbers of this to test the statistics that you're saying but they're making a tremendous amount of money economically we saved it and i saved it again a number of months ago when oil was crashing because of the pandemic when i saved it we got say what you want about relationship we got saudi arabia mexico and russia to cut back way back we saved our oil industry and now it's very vibrant to go rightly but he has very inexpensive gasoline rebuys the president biden your response and then we're going to have a final question for both of you my response is that those people live on what they
5:32 am
call fence lines he don't understand this they live near chemical plants that in fact pollute chemical plants and oil plants and refineries that pollute i used to live near that when i was growing up in claymont delaware and all the moral refineries and marcus hook and the delaware river than there is any place including the news today at the time when my mom get in the car and one of the in our 1st frost to drive me to school turn of the winch were deliberate oil slick in the window that's why so many people in my state were dying and getting cancer the fact is those frontline communities it's not matter what you're paying them it matters how you keep them safe what do you do and you impose restrictions on the pollutions that is coming out of those fence line communities ok i have one final when i close the auto industry fall would you close there are other way adler transition from their own industry yes oh i was trying to shape it it is a big statement that because i would stop why would you do that because the oil industry pollutes significantly i say here's the deal but that's what makes it well
5:33 am
if you let me finish the statement we can as it has to be replaced by renewable energy over time over time and i'd stop giving to the oil industry i'd stop giving them federal subsidies you won't get federal subsidies to the gas and shoot me to the to solar and wind why we give it to oil industry we actually do all right just so. and went where that was a very big statement in terms of business that's the biggest ok because you know exactly what i'm saying is you is going to destroy the early industry who you remember that texas with ok member of that pennsylvania oklahoma president by let me give you 10 seconds and i have to get to the final question vice president biden it takes everything out of context but the point is struck we have to move toward a net 0 emissions the 1st place to do that by the year 2035 years in energy production by 2050 total all right once you know you're trying to do it now we're
5:34 am
finished with it you're going to get started our final question we have got to wrap joined by our sykora to make china abide by what they agreed to the right of course of the ground gentleman and this 1st question does go to you president trump imagine this is your inauguration day what will you say in your address who america to americans who did not vote for you know each have one minute starting with you we have to make a country totally successful as it was prior to the plague coming in from china now we're rebuilding it and we're doing record numbers 11400000 jobs have a short period of time etc but i will tell you go back before the plague came in just before i was getting calls from people that were not normally people who would call me they wanted to get together we had the best black unemployment numbers in the history of our country hispanic women asian people with the plumbers with no diplomas mit graduates number one in the class everybody had the best numbers and
5:35 am
you know what the other side wanted to get together they wanted to unify success is going to bring us together we're on the road to success but i'm cutting taxes and he wants to raise everybody's taxes and he wants to put new regulations are never think he will kill it if he gets in you will have a depression the likes of which you've never seen you're for a one case will go to hell and it will be a very very sad day for this. tree all right vice president biden same question to you what will you say during your inaugural address to americans who did not vote for you i will say i'm an american president to represent all of you whether you voted for me or against me and i'm going to make sure that you're represented i'm going to give you hope we're going to move we're going to choose science over fiction we're going to choose hope over fear we're going to choose to move forward because we have enormous opportunities a normal stop or 200 years to make things better we can grow this economy we can deal with the systemic racism and the same time we can make sure that our economy
5:36 am
is being run and moved and motivated by clean energy creating millions of new jobs and that's the fact that's what we're going to do and i'm going to say as i said to begin to eat what is on the ballot here is the character of this country decency honor respect treating people with dignity making sure that everyone has an even chance and i'm going to make sure you get that you haven't get it the last 4 years all right i want to thank you both for a very robust hour to have a fantastic debate really appreciate it president tribe former vice president joe biden thank you to belmont university for hosting us tonight and most importantly thank you to those watching tonight election day is november 3rd don't forget to vote thank you everyone and have a great night thank. god that is the mother is the person welcome to start wrapping up the 2nd presidential debate to the final time to come back to believe before the
5:37 am
actual votes on november the 3rd was set for this contentious debate in the 1st one that we saw. relatively restrained in comparison slightly built up into a more fractious debate that said trump listen to his advisors didn't interrupt quite as frequently came out fairly strong putting the joe biden on but foot in the . one of jill biden was coming out to congratulate him on his performance had some typical moments plenty of them vaccine is coming it's china's fold greatest presidents and abraham lincoln for black people and so forth so with 12 days to go let's see who got the most out of that one of the. we're going to look at some of the topics being discussed and we're going to bring in the director of presidential studies at the university of virginia is milliseconds a brother pretty she's in charlottesville virginia also back because our white
5:38 am
house correspondent can be how can it can be brought out so the building where the debates been taking place and can be if i could start with you just quickly from both of you in fact will be just your general overview of how you thought things were and then we'll listen to some of the one or 2 of the comments that were made throughout and then get your comments to me 1st general sense of the whole thing. now i think the american people want in terms of finally getting a clear picture about sort of the closing arguments of both candidates this was just slips down to debate well for the moderator didn't excellent job of keeping both candidates to time even getting a shout out a phrase from donald trump at one moment which is rare particularly for members of the media so i think that there is some applause made for her as well that she was able to keep these men on topic on an issue and under control in terms of who may have won this i think that. joe biden has probably come out ahead in that
5:39 am
he didn't make any major fumble that could turn into an 11th hour commercial campaign commercial and embarrass himself he did stumble a few times he did point struggle a little bit with those accusations of mental acuity forgetting a few names but nothing major that would really play well in an attack that if you will now in terms of donald trump he really tried hard. repeatedly to bring up the issue 8 of the foreign entanglements that joe biden may have how not it didn't seem to come off as well as his campaign would have hoped in fact it did at one point kind of blow back on the president in terms of his own foreign business dealings so that seems to be a fail on the part of the president terms of his strategy but overall neither man had a huge moment that appears to be something that is going to haunt them in the final days of this campaign but at the same time doesn't appear either man really made
5:40 am
any gains when it comes to trying to attract the demographic that seems to be pulling away from them and that is for donald trump suburban women he didn't seem to make any concrete arguments that would convince them to perhaps sway their vote his direction and with respect to joe biden he had a little trouble answering some of the questions regarding some of his past policies in government with respect to voters of color namely the 1994 crime bill that disproportionately locked up african-american men and other people of color and so while he defended it and said that it was a mistake he also didn't have a very good answer for why he hasn't corrected it before now particularly given his lengthy career in congress and also 8 years in the white house. just briefly if you would the presidential studies at the university of virginia millicent as it were what was your take on it. i thought both men did what they had to do again no
5:41 am
major gaffes donald trump perhaps should have come a bit more often i thought he was pretty smooth and his performance and his cameraman said biden had a few minor stumbles but i think that did what they had to do but i would say if it comes to being a draw and i went i would score it as a draw it's not going to savor trump because he's behind very simply all right barbara thanks very much ok well the 1st topic to no surprise was the coronavirus pundit make-a as if it's not what the kind of it's had to say about what it will be by the end of the year but i think it has a good chance or 2 companies i think within a matter of weeks and it will be distributed very quickly to tell us which companies johnson and johnson is doing very well mode earners doing very well pfizer is doing very well and we have numerous others then we also have others that we're working on very closely with other countries and particularly europe let me follow up with you because this is new information you have said a vaccine is coming soon within weeks now your own officials say it could take well
5:42 am
into 2021 at the earliest for enough americans to get vaccinated and even then they say the country will be wearing masks and distance and into 2022 is your timeline realistic do i think my timeline is going to be more accurate i don't know that they're counting on the military the way i do but we have our generals lined up one in particular that's the head of logistics and this is a very easy distribution for him he's ready to go as soon as we have the vaccine and we expect to have 100000000 viles as soon as we have the vaccine he's ready to go 220000 americans did you hear nothing else i say tonight to this anyone who's responsible for not taking control in fact not saying i'm i take no responsibility initially anyone who's responsible for that many deaths should not remain as president of the united states of america it's a bummer perry festival and joe biden's words that that was the stick up moment for
5:43 am
me in that particular particular segment of the conversation anybody responsible 70 deaths should not remain as president what do you think. yes that was a powerful moment certainly for the former vice president i think if you view these debates as a boxing match and each set of questions as a round that i would say that round went to vice president biden because of the way he expressed it but just starting out with 220000 americans dead and in the case of trying making a case about vaccines and we know that the american people by and large the majority do not trust him and his word on vaccines so i think actually to buy it and position was was just perfectly stated at that point right and. the subject biden was strong as well when he said that he looks at blue states and red states referring to donald trump or talk about the united states.
5:44 am
can you still hear me. oh paul if he's there i thought that was a follow up get a i can hear you i apologize i thought that was a follow up our guest you know what a good respectfully disagree with both of you with regard to this segment i thought bit donald trump held his own at least in have even had a few zingers if you will with respect to the issue of how they handled the pandemic donald trump came out very strong and said look at we're going to have to learn to live with that we don't all have the luxury of hiding in our basement like joe does another words he appealed to working class americans who have had to go out and risk their lives almost for trade joe biden is someone to lead us having the luxury of being able to pick and choose when he leaves and i think that could play well with donald trump's base and actually also reach out potentially to working class americans we know disproportionately again it's been communities of color that have had to go out and work and have not been able to have the work from
5:45 am
home type of jobs * that tend to be the higher wage scale so that's one point. and the other point that i think is with regard to that is the double trouble really spoke to something that a lot of americans are dealing with right now and that is depression suicides drug dependency as a result of being locked up so essentially he made the argument that the cure can't be worse than the virus itself and i think that will also resonate with americans so i think depending on where you stand you could make the argument the both men handled that portion out of good debate fairly well and it was important they do so because it really set the tone for the rest of the debate given the fact that it came somewhat early in the questioning right and 72 sides of the argument or it will joe biden has accused of being one of the most racist presidents in history let's listen to. he pours fuel on every single free system fire
5:46 am
every single one started off his campaign coming down the escalator saying to rid of those mexican rapist he's banned muslims because they're muslims he has moved around and made everything worse across the board he says to them about the poor borders last time we were on stage here he said i told him to stand down and stand ready come on this guy's a dog whistle because a fork or. the 1st time i ever heard of black lives matter they were chanting pigs in a blanket talking about police pigs pigs talking about are police pigs in a blanket for i am like bacon i said that's a horrible thing and they were marching down the street and that was my 1st glimpse of black lives matter i thought it was a terrible thing as far as my relationships with all people i think i have great relationships with people i am the least racist person in this room yeah.
5:47 am
we've heard from donald trump before isn't it and he then went on to talk about how he's been the greatest president for black people perhaps since they were family. yeah i don't know why personally donald trump continues to repeat that because it never has played well i mean just to give you context i think most of our international viewers know that abraham lincoln is one of the most revered presidents in the united states he has monumental statue of him on the washington mall and this is really a man that is well respected whether you're democrat or republican for what he did in the early years of the united states what he did for communities of color with the males the patient and so for donald trump to make that claim that he has done as much if not more than abraham lincoln is really not endearing him to many americans because it's kind of
5:48 am
a pedestal for which most americans cannot stand on at the same time you know donald trump did prior to cope with 19 here in the united states did build on it and put in place policies that have helped tremendously communities of color particularly when it came to unemployment when it came to getting better wage jobs and so he's trying to tout that it is a success one that at times it appears he has not been. given enough credit for but at the same time those lingering accusations that he speaks out of both sides of his mouth when it comes to communities of color that you heard there in the sound bite that he talked about the things he's done for the community but he also doesn't seem to grasp some of the concerns coming from that community as well as those communities as well given the fact that there are ads proportionate number of communities or rather individual the color that are arrested by white police officers that prior to most people having
5:49 am
a video camera on their cell phone these things were not reported were not investigated now all that has changed the light has been shown on but it appears that a president who seems to be you know him is in his mid seventy's just doesn't really have a grasp 8 of the situation and how it is hurting those communities in ways that can't be repaired with economics alone right what were your thoughts about how president trump's words would resonates with the communities of color. i don't i can't see very well again yes maybe the unemployment rate was low before the code but here are the play from china as he calls it so that you can argue with with that but things have obviously not been going well in employment for african-americans in this country certainly since the cold epidemic hit so that's one issue and for the president to tell these tall tales that he's the least racist
5:50 am
person in that room 200 or so people and that he's the greatest president for african american since abraham lincoln i do wonder why president biden didn't say could we talk a little bit about a fellow democrat lyndon johnson and the civil rights act of $64.00 on the voting rights act of $65.00 i do wish he would bring those things up but it was also one of those unfortunate misspeaks for vice president biden he mentioned the poor boys that's a sandwich in the united states and stead of the proud boys but i think most people in the communities of color know that there is systemic racism in the united states and they they won't be persuaded most of them by the president's words tonight all right well obamacare has been a big target for the trump administration then joe biden says that millions will be robbed of the health care if trump stays in power. he's already cost the american people because of terrible handling of a provirus an economic spillover 10000000 people have lost their private insurance and he wants to take away 22000000 more people who have an honorable macare and
5:51 am
over 110000000 people with preexisting conditions and all the people from covert are going to have preexisting conditions what are they going to do. i'd like to terminate obamacare come up with a brand new beautiful health care the democrats will do it because they'll be tremendous pressure on them and we might even have the house by that time and i think we're going to win the house ok you'll see but i think we're going to win the house but come up with a better health care always protecting people with preexisting conditions and one thing very important we have 180000000 people out there that have great private health care far more than we're talking about with obamacare joe biden is going to terminate all of those policies. now you can believe health care very very important issue. one of the strategies that observed donald trump trying to do there is something that he has done in different forms and fashions on the campaign trail as well and
5:52 am
that is trying to portray joe biden as reflective. and representative of the war further left her with some would say extreme left. section of the democratic party you heard him talk about his running mate there kamel harris as well kind of portraying her as being radical or radical leftist so what he did in this segment is he essentially tried to scare americans saying look if they get in they're going to take away the health care that you really like that millions of americans do have and they're going to push through and expand obamacare it's not just going to be roughly 30000000 that have it it will be for all americans and the government's going to take control of what this is is he's trying to make the case that they're going to transform the united states into a socialist nation and this country is a country with a capital is backbone and that gets a lot of americans nervous that's why it's been so difficult to push forward health
5:53 am
care reforms a congress that in the white house for many many years even decades so you heard joe biden kind of fighting back there saying look at. you know how the public option as he called her having the government in control of some aspects of health care what makes that socialist he said there would be an option but other people still be able to keep their health care he tried to kind of pivot on that and really downplay the accusations by the president it was a difficult moment for joe biden because this is one of the major concerns from some americans those that the united states is moving further left in and that makes many voters nervous right barbara difficult. well it can really points out as soon as someone says the s word and by that we mean socialism it's a little bit like in the 1950 s. in this country calling someone a communist or their policies communistic i guess that does scare americans except for the fact that that is what republicans and conservatives called social security
5:54 am
in the 1930 s. when it passed under franklin roosevelt and that is what republicans and conservatives call what came to be known as medicare when it passed in 1965 also under lyndon johnson so i do again wish sometimes that joe biden and democrats would look back a little bit in history and say who would give up their social security benefits now who would give up their medicare now remember republicans and conservatives call that socialism and the other thing about the president saying oh yes we're going to have a he uses that strange term beautiful beautiful health care plan he has been saying that for 4 years and there has not been repeal and replacement by his plan of obamacare and with his supreme court nomination of amy coming bare and it's very clear that within a few months it's possible that all of the obamacare will be overturned by the supreme court or i went to court to be always has been in terms proud as opposed to in the until a caveat of course that set things on that front they also discussed the economy at
5:55 am
some length that is what kind of it said. i want to open the schools we have to open a country we're not going to have a country you can't do this we can't keep this country close there's a massive country with a massive economy people are losing their jobs they're committing suicide there's depression alcohol drugs at a level that nobody's ever seen before there's abuse tremendous abuse we have to open our country you know i've said it often the cure cannot be worse than the problem itself. we are to be able to walk and chew gum at the same time we ought to be able to safely open but would need resources to open you need to be able to for example if you can open a business have social distance even the business you need to have if you have a restaurant you need to have plexiglass divider so people cannot infect one another you need to be in a position where you can take testing rapidly and know whether a person is in fact infected you need to be able to trace you need to be able to
5:56 am
provide all the resources that are needed to do this. so your thoughts on this will . yeah this is one where you can really see how cold it has been politicized in the united states think both men laid out the argument and this is why it's a nation divided there are millions who haven't been touched by cope with the believe that these are draconian restrictions on the other hand you have joe biden making the case that there is a need to contain the virus but many of the proposals many americans view as too costly. and barbara so the economy. the case for all the votes is going to be coming out and then millions of what are your thoughts about how this woman. right well it is the case that should donald trump lose his reelection bid and certainly the economy will will be part of the reason because of its collapse because of the corona virus and yet as kimberly said
5:57 am
we are very much a divided and polarized country between those who want to be more careful where masks shut down parts the economy when necessary and those on the conservative and trump side who believe that that hurts the economy and yet we see these hot spots around the country and i think joe biden was talking for a moderate approach based on what's happening in different parts of the country not one size fits all policy. our guys do appreciate that thanks very much indeed that is barbara perry in charlottesville in virginia in a cold so i can read how it's white house correspondent right there outside the debate to belmont university thank you very much indeed for that is it for the final presidential debate that's taking place in and nashville in tennessee 12 days to go to the election has donald trump done enough to sway voters to vote for him had to get him back as the incumbent president to have another term or will it be joe biden at $78.00 he would be the oldest 1st time president so he's
