the president needs to do is frankly put his big boy pants on he needs to acknowledge the fact that he lost and he needs to congratulate the winner. and on resolved election the nation on edge 3 days after one of america's most divisive and knife edge presidential votes it appears that the democratic challenger joe biden is moving further ahead of president donald trump and battleground states which will decide the final outcome biden leads in pennsylvania nevada and in georgia so far is projected to have $164.00 electoral college votes trump has $214.00 and of course the number required is 270 the needs to win in only one of those undecided states to get across that finish line. his

magic white house correspondent can you help it who is in washington for us. in wilmington delaware joe biden's home state we have passed culhane standing by for us in philadelphia and then there's andy gallagher who bring us the latest on the state of georgia and heidi castro is among protest as the house white house will speak to all of them after this report from broadband. joe biden now leads donald trump in pennsylvania and georgia he also remains head in nevada and arizona as vote counting continues but democratic leaders were already saying he has one president elect biden has a strong mandate to lead and it will have a strong democratic house with him and many democrats in the senate this is not a life or death fight for the fate of our democracy as he says the soul of our

country the trump campaign launched a barrage of lawsuit seeking to halt vote counting or to toss out mail and absentee ballots tabulated after election day but the president's lawyers provided little if any evidence of fraud after full suited filled remarks at the white house thursday trump issued a slightly more tempered written statement on friday saying this is about the integrity of our entire election process we will pursue this process through every aspect of the law i will never give up fighting for you and our nation. trump asked the supreme court to intervene in pennsylvania and the city's mayor responded no i think what the president needs to do is frankly put his big boy pants on he so acknowledge the fact that he lost and he needs to congratulate the winner just as jimmy carter did just as george h.w. bush did and frankly just as al gore did and stop this and let us move forward as

a country that as attorney general called the trump campaign's voting fraud complaint in his state garbage multiple studies over the years have concluded that vote fraud in the u.s. is extraordinary rare in georgia biden's lead is so slim a recount is being planned as we are closing in on a final count we can begin to look toward our next steps with a margin that small there will be likely a recount in georgia pro trump demonstrators continued to protest around the country convinced that foul play was underway it raises the hair on the back of your neck where they're trying to plan where they're planning again they're going to they're going to steal this election. meanwhile biden supporters celebrated in the streets of several cities it's unclear whether biden will claim victory in his

speech scheduled for later friday but reportedly president trump has refused to even consider drafting a concession speech that's a sign that the legal battles over this election may stretch on for weeks robert oulds al jazeera los angeles. we'll begin with our white house correspondent kemi home kimberly by this time yesterday we've heard from donald trump it's been a lot quieter today so we know what the mood is like in the trump counted a. well they are feeling a little bit more positive about our court ruling that has just come down with respect to ballots in pennsylvania the feeling being that well they weren't able to stop the count which is what they desired they did allow or have the judge did in his order separate some ballots that were received after 8 pm on election day so this is a minor victory there is this feeling that this would not impact a large number of votes the votes still will be counted but they will be kept
5:06 am
separate still this is just a measure of what we're going to be seeing from the trump campaign for some time and that is a series of legal challenges that donald trump is hoping will allow him to reclaim the lead and take away the possibility of the presidency from joe biden now donald trump is also tweeting as we he often does when we don't even front the cameras and what he's been saying is really challenging this notion that joe biden is to become the president elect in fact although joe biden has not actually claimed he has won this election donald trump feels that he is making those assertions and he says on twitter that he could make that claim to in fact has made that claim so double talk taking issue with a lot of the sort of narrative that seems to be getting momentum in the united states that joe biden house what he needs to get that magic number in order to become president elect and this seems to be
5:07 am
a challenge for the trump campaign but at the same time they are still saying that they're pushing forward with these legal challenges and raising millions in order to do it so. many thanks to our white house correspondent kimberly. let's go to mike hanna is in biden's home stays to delaware and joins us from the city wilmington mike earlier tonight we thought we were going to hear from biden and then we thought we when going to hear from bob and now again we're hearing that he may speak even the not officially been any kind of result to clay what are you hearing. well precisely that has been going backwards and forwards initially there was a speech is scheduled regardless then we heard that mr biden would be waiting for a proper call on a major state such as pennsylvania before speaking and now we're hearing again that
5:08 am
joe biden will be speaking regardless of whether or not there is a major projection issued in coming hours but i think the way to leave it is on this is that once his convoy comes into the convention center on the road right next to me here then we'll know that he will be making a speech within the coming hours but i just want to pick up on the supreme court action that has just occurred the supreme court instructing the secretary of state in pennsylvania to separate the votes that were handed in after the close of the polls not to clarify this what actually happened is that the secretary of state did instruct election counters to separate these votes however the count can use now the republicans had brought the urgent interdict in the supreme court demanding as well that the count be stopped well the supreme court did not do that all the supreme court has done is essentially sent
5:09 am
a message to the pennsylvania secretary of state saying please is your instruction being followed let us know by 1 o'clock tomorrow so it's not in any way going to infect affect the count the count will continue these votes are being kept separate pending any form of future legal action so that is a situation where that particular issue the campaign here basically dismissing it and seeing it indeed as a victory for the biding campaign the fact that the republicans were denied their motion to stop the come to those words many thanks for that mike hanna speaking to us from delaware well we can get more now from patty call her. and who is in philadelphia where i believe the 100000 votes left to count can you tell us. it is just trickling now and i'm not quite sure what is going on but we do have
5:10 am
a slight up date for you last time i'm talking spoke with you there was joe biden was up by just under 20000 votes he's now up 521000 under 705 votes so slowly slowly incredibly slowly getting the results i'm not sure what exactly is happening in the rooms behind me and across the state of pennsylvania where they're counting these ballots i think it's also important to point out it's friday the election was tuesday they've been counting these ballots and it's just it's mind numbing repetitive work there in these rooms with masks on so you know it's it's getting pretty late here on a friday night in pennsylvania but what we do see and this is why the biden campaign is so enthusiastic about pennsylvania which of all of course if they win pennsylvania it's over there's really no path for president to get back into the white house and i think everyone expected that the votes would be counted faster and again they said the secretary of state said she was hoping they'd have them by
5:11 am
thursday 24 hours ago and then she said we definitely have them by friday of course that hasn't happened just yet so really we're just sitting here waiting for the votes to come in with 100000 still out there about 100000 it's looking less and less likely that we're going to have that answer that we wanted on friday likely going into the biden calculation i think everyone expected the vote would be in but now it doesn't look like that's going to happen i also want to pick up on something that both kimberly and mike talked about with the supreme court case and the fact that those votes were already pushed put aside we're not. votes that could actually change anything now what we're hearing is the numbers between 3 and 4000 and again we're talking if you look at let's say the math holds up joe biden continues to get the percentage he's been getting from these mail in ballots in these democratic places the lowest numbers in the 60 high sixty's to 80 percent so if you look at
5:12 am
let's say it is 100000 ballots that looks like he's going to add another 627-0000 votes so the $4000.00 votes that came in after election day it's not going to move the needle no matter what the supreme court does and say gee you're talking there about mood and it being friday people caylee tired but tomorrow saturday does that mean they keep counting on the weekend don't even know that. one of the things kind of making headlines today is a speech by the mayor. of pensacola philadelphia bring us up to date on what he had to say because that was quite interesting. i think as you heard rob's piece he basically told the president time to put your big boy pants on a very philadelphia language and big defeat there's frustration here and there's concern let me tell you why there was a text message that went out reported from the washington post to trump supporters saying it's time to come and rally at this convention center behind me in front of
5:13 am
it where the votes are being tallied and we haven't really seen that we saw a handful of trump supporters yesterday and there were a whole bunch more dozens and dozens of people protest say biden you know needs to be given a chance count the votes they were very much so celebratory so over torie so there is concern that there's a rally tomorrow with trump supporters that this could get ugly because right now they've been pretty much keeping the 2 sides separated but there's growing concern because it's something that has. 114 we've lost patty kahane who was there in philadelphia but we can move on we can get more on the race in georgia we can speak to our correspondent there and take atika who joins us live from miami in neighboring florida and what is the race looking like in georgia. well it's razor thin $4000.00 votes between these 2 candidates in the favor of
5:14 am
former vice president joe biden so what that means is georgia is heading towards a recount and there are 2 dates we need to keep in mind here november the 13th of november the 20th that's when the votes are certified by election officials and then state officials but this is really a state that should have even been playing a role in this election because it's been solidly republican for decades it's been since 1992 when democratic nominee bill clinton won there and ever since then it's been just a very red state so there is a reflection or a think of changing demographics and if we look at election day on tuesday which feels like a very long time ago trump 370000 or thereabouts vote lead over biden but are those mail in ballots came in from those democratic neighborhoods mostly around atlanta or in savannah that that lead was eaten away and sold your biden is now in the lead by $4000.00 but as one alexion official says that margin is less than the
5:15 am
population of a small high school in georgia so what officials are saying there now is that there will be a recount the dates i gave you are the days to watch but another thing to watch or 2 senatorial races in the state of georgia which are so tight they'll be run off as well in january now why they're important because they may decide who controls the senate for the next 4 years obviously the republicans if they lose the presidency want to keep hold of congress and those 2 races will be watched. very very closely because they were so once again razor thin so the counting is still continuing in georgia despite the fact we now know almost certainly there will be a recount and we have to watch for those dates november the 13th and november the 20th the votes may come in before then but this is a task these people have been working 24 hours a day ever since tuesday to go through all that again it is difficult but that's
5:16 am
democracy. giving us the latest on the numbers in georgia many thanks. let's go now to. the black lives plaza and washington d.c. . so what is happening where you are with his music. surely because ever since the election there have been groups of mostly biden supporters who have been gathered here not so much in protest more in a celebrate tori's here at best the music you're hearing there is actually people dancing waltzing in the streets they're all gathered here outside of the riot fences that now surround the white house these are of course put up after the summer black eyes matter protesting of course remember when president trump in that now infamous incident sent out military forces police forces to clear the crowd
5:17 am
injuring some folks before taking a photo op staged picture in front of that church well what a difference a few months have made because the anger that really resulted from that moment and of course disenchantment with coded with the way that the president has handled racial inequality in the united states well that has translated in an undeniable popular vote loss for president joe biden leading by more than 4000000 votes if you count the popular vote across the country of course though that is not what will determine who moves into the white house in a few months time but we see people here now biden supporters with their signs that are delivering notices say they want trump out and that they will simply not accept his declaration of victory which they see as illegitimate but i want to actually bring in one of our guests here this is a net stock and i know i know you have you voted for biden and you said hugh. you
5:18 am
wanted to be here tonight why was that some foreign to you well i want to come down here you know i've been following the news pretty closely on line and on my t.v. but this is a big monument to stay i thought i want to be here right in front of white house says history is taking place that has it's taking place but at a very slow pace right we're talking about these votes to kind of a struggling and are you at all feeling impatient with how long this is taking i mean i think everyone would love to have an answer sooner than later of course but honestly this is democracy i want every vote to be counted i want them to take their time and make sure that doing a good job no rush as far as i'm concerned if that means a good job is being done and every vote is being counted which is what really important to me and we know here and in other cities across the country there was concerns about security following the selection but i don't see any violence here are you surprised at all by how peaceful this is in this process is going despite of course all the contention surrounding these results you know i'm not surprised i
5:19 am
mean i feel like especially here in d.c. you know it's been peaceful protests and i think this is a great energy to come down here and and check it out but yeah i'm not surprised and it's been so peaceful and nice and it's been a really. beautiful weather so the big question though was if biden is declared the winner come january 20th what if trump makes good on his promise about not accepting defeat what if he refuses to leave the white house are you concerned about that yeah well i watched a lot of bill maher and he's always been very vocal about the fact that he's not going to leave you know that is a concern but i really have faith in the system and i think that democracy is going to prevail here and i think that i think his republican supporters you know if biden wins and he gets every vote counted and he is the victor i think they're going to support democracy and i think they're going. to leave and i think we are going to have eventually a peaceful transfer of power and i'm really excited to see that happen thank you so much and after sharing your thoughts and of course here just as across the country
5:20 am
we see. democracy in action in counting rooms we're also seeing other facet about democracy in action here mainly as these people peacefully await the results of this very contentious election. castra speaking to us there from the black lives matter plaza in washington d.c. many thanks. ok let's take a closer look at trump's legal efforts his campaign has filed suit in georgia michigan pennsylvania and the vada states where he's either lost all faces an extremely close race various suits in those states include allegations of late and invalid votes being tabulated and campaign observers being denied adequate access to the counting trump has failed to score any significant legal victory so far 2 cases in michigan and georgia have been dismissed for lack of evidence none of the complaints provides examples of trump's massive vote for claims let's bring in
5:21 am
lawyer brian darling he's a former senior communications director and star legal counsel for the republican senator rand paul he joins us from the in maryland so the president still remaining very defiant launching many of these legal challenges in various states some of which have already been dismissed we have another one being dismissed today in nevada. do any of his lawsuits have legs. well time will tell i think what's happening now is they're organizing their legal strategy i mean we're still in the middle of the count i mean these counts are still going on they haven't been completed there's a good chance that we know in georgia they're going to have a recount there may be other states where there are recounts so some of these allegations will not be litigated for a few weeks and you know one of the most important aspects of this is restoring confidence in the american people that the american people have in the electoral
5:22 am
process and are a good deal or republicans are looking at what's going on and in pennsylvania skeptically and so any investigation that's done that comes out either way will help restore confidence and in our electoral process and it's important that these lawsuits are taken seriously and if they have no merit they should be dismissed but if they do have merit let's have that out in the open and let the american people see how it all plays out well today we had for. a report with the republicans trying to raise up to $60000000.00 to fund north states what do you think this is all about. well look at what's going on and pennsylvania there's a case said went right up to the supreme court considering and looking at the issue of whether ballots that arrive after election day are valid or not and that's something that the courts should look at and in other states that is allowed not
5:23 am
every state allows ballots that are mailed on election day or before election day to be counted if they come after election day and i can tell you from personal experience in my state of massachusetts when i tried to vote in 2004 i mailed my ballot and got there one day late it was postmarked on election day it was not counted so it's not unusual for states to have a look at those ballots and only count the ballots that come in on election day and the big question is is there a federal will the federal courts take a hard look at that since 2nd guess the states that have made this decision there's been controversy in pennsylvania whether the courts or the legislature made that decision correctly and it's all going to be litigated in the courts which is great because that's where it needs to be litigated not in the media not with the talking heads like me or democrats trying to hash it out and declare somebody a victor now because we we as we know we have a long way to go feel the election still being counted we may have recounts and
5:24 am
we're going to have litigation so there's a long way to go before this is resolved in a way that just restores confidence that the american people can say that the election was fair and free it's interesting you say that this is about restoring faith in the democratic process and do you really believe that's what president trump is doing with the narrative he is and using. well the president is a fighter and he's digging in and fighting as hard as he can and i may not 100 percent agree with many of the arguments he's making you know declaring himself the victor and saying that he won all the legally cast votes we don't know i mean i don't know if that's true or not and i suspect that when this process is all played out many of the states are just going to say that there was a very close election and present trump lost but i do think it's a president's right to fight this he has a perfect the right as a president as a candidate for office to go into the courts litigate these matters and if they're
5:25 am
baseless they get thrown out if they have merit then they should go all the way up to the supreme court and what the supreme court decide many thanks for your thoughts brian dolling former senior communications director and stuff legal counsel for republican senator ron paul. let's take a look now at the latest on the coronavirus pandemic the u.s. has seen another record jump in infections 3 days after the presidential election more than 120000 cases when on stone say breaking the records that just the day before and countries also reported 1200 deaths things the virus taking the overall death toll 223-5000 the number of new daily cases in the u.s. has risen by 50000 in this than a week it's been a not the new record rise in infections and fronts for the 2nd straight day that
