6:00 pm
what's most important to me is talking to people understanding what they're going through here and i just we believe everyone has a story worth hearing. this is al-jazeera. it's just 11500 hours g.m.t. hello i'm come all santamaria welcome to the news hour from al-jazeera there is a possible breakthrough in the fight against covert 19 the us drugs giant pfizer says its vaccine candidate is 90 percent effective u.s. president elect joe biden's welcome to the vaccine success as he announces a task force to deal with the pandemic also in the news aiming to end a decade of chaos and bloodshed in libya u.n. backed talks have begun paving the way for
6:01 pm
a political transition and bolivia's former leader abel morales heads home from exile in argentina just days after his party swept back to power we will have a live update from one of science. to simply told you sport is less than the brim of age schools in stoppage time as a simulation state some of the telly and league while he goes to the don't call in show. the fight against covert 19 may have taken a significant step forward this monday the u.s. drugs make a fine vaccine candidate has proved to be more than 90 percent effective bringing some hope in a pandemic that's killed nearly 1300000 people all over the world now pfizer says it is on track to ask for permission to sell the vaccine before the end of the month but u.s. health regulators have. they'll need some time to review any potential vaccine the
6:02 pm
head of the world health organization's also been calling for scientific solutions and solidarity to end the pandemic that was what proved to be a largely virtual meeting of the w h o's decision making body something does really need to happen soon i mean the world is now more than 50000000 recorded cases and there is no sign of a slowdown we might be tired of 19 but it is not dying of us years preys on dorce in we can held by g.-d. preys on weaknesses to inequality division do you know we should yuki and we believe annoyance very pleased to welcome dr amy account of the news our hears with the u.k.'s n.h.s. the national health service and dr thank you for your time it sounds like great news 90 percent effective what can you actually make of that i mean this is coming
6:03 pm
from the drug makers so they will of course want to say it's as effective as it can possibly be. yes it is really welcome news 'd well what they've shared with us is that they looked at a sample size of course a 3 and a half 1000 people in a huff at the back seat half of the coal placebo which is just north of the toll really and then they looked at the thinnest $94.00 cases of all coronavirus and all that only 10 percent were the ones given the vaccine so that's why it's 90 percent effective so it is really really good they are very cautious in what they're saying the same information is needed they need to look at how long the miti last fall and whether actually it stops the spread of the virus as well as that because i'm not getting the virus so they are cautious with the intervention they are giving but is a significant step in the right direction and welcome news to clinicians might be you are seeing patients with criminal violence sure the one thing that sort of
6:04 pm
concerns me if i can put it that way is the commercial realities here pfizer is a company wants to make this but we're in this situation where something is needed everywhere it's not localized it's not limited what sort of cooperation could be expected. i think that's that's a wise thing to be concerned about pfizer is a commercially organization but there are several organizations that are working towards getting a vaccine so this is one of many that are in the space 3 trial process and yes this one is the one that's ahead of the game i think we have to keep an open mind when it comes to that level of concern everybody's key messages that we want to get out of this and then it won't come out a lot downs that are blighting the world trade the and if this is this is something that helps with that i think that is really important but it is important to say that no vaccine will be approved until all the date has been approved so so
6:05 pm
it's really important that it won't actually be given to the general court probably until we know for sure that it is safe can you remind our viewers and me as well about how vaccines really work i guess the what i'm trying to point is that a lot of people were thinking oh there's a vaccine that it's the silver bullet and and everything can go back to normal and i just feel it's not that simple. no it isn't that simple i suspect very strongly that it says people who will be eligible for the vaccine of those in the highest weeks various groups of those with co-morbidities or very elderly or front line workers vaccines working in different ways and this is a new type of vaccine that works the new way that normally vaccines that way when you are given a vaccine you will keep it in a weakened or dead called also the virus of the bacteria that causes annealed so 8 it doesn't make you ill but your body recognizes it as foreign and it mounts an immune response and should you then come across the real causes that illness
6:06 pm
because it's got memory cells in its immune system that will attack it straight away before you even realize you've had bowed now the way this new vaccine works according to pfizer is it's something called m.r. it's you know actually be injected with part of the virus that we can pull of the virus or dead bodies being injected with a part of the genetic code coronavirus and woman is treating your immune system to make antibodies to tear it so it will get rid of the corona virus in acute infection but also there is memory cells as well so it's slightly different but the overall effect is the same but like this and we know it's still not quite sure how long this immune for and this particular backs the will be given in to dose these 3 weeks ok just before and to get back to it what are things like november 2025 you in your 1st answer you talked about the fact you're still seeing patients coming
6:07 pm
through how bad is it i guess numbers wise for you for you and what you say. yet i'm here in the u.k. and we are seeing an increase number of patients a crowd of are some my time is divided between norm koger of cases of illnesses and that i spent all of that week seeing patients with crowbars type symptoms it's not dying down but we've just been we started a new lockdown here in the in the you. kase not as severe as the lockdown earlier in the year we're hoping that will bring the numbers down but but i am seeing people not. actually recruiting bars but now the long term effects of the virus and the place at the top in in what i do in the patients i see at the moment no signs of slowing down unfortunately this doctor may account you're a busy man so i really do appreciate you taking the time for us thank you well the vaccine success has been viewed positively all over the world see united states as well where we're going to have a look at market reaction. with us now from the new york stock exchange the futures
6:08 pm
i saw earlier were looking like about a 1500 point open what's it like now. yeah the market's been open for just about 40 minutes now and if the stock exchange was a volcano it just exploded this morning the s. and p. 500 up 3.7 percent the dow actually surpassed the futures and you just mentioned opened it over 1605 and a half percent these are both really a record breaking numbers that we're seeing on wall street all because of this news about pfizer without a doubt and what you're seeing here is very interesting what you're seeing is the stocks that are doing the best are the travel leisure and hospitality stocks those sectors and they're not only doing good they opened a great let me just give you a couple examples here carnival cruise line 39 percent jump southwest airlines
6:09 pm
a domestic carrier here in the u.s. 22 percent jump disney disney walt disney 14 percent and marriott to the hotel chain 21 percent these are all sectors that were hit very hard over the last year or so that are just seeing incredible jumps here at the opening bell just so you know they are in london earlier that zoom everyone's favorite video conferencing company was down 6 percent poor old and if we strip out what is what's actually happened in the last hour how was the market starting to respond anyway with the changes in the united states with the political changes coming in the united states . yeah it's the markets were a little unsure about a potential joe biden presidency quite frankly donald trump presidency has been very good to the markets but they were quite unsure about the biden presidency however what the markets were not wanting was that long extended election
6:10 pm
that it would go to the supreme court that could maybe drag on until december as some people were per cost per saying that could happen so the fact that essential e. camp the election was in that over the weekend over the weekend with with by being declared the winner. essential what that did is that had already given some momentum to the markets going into monday so the markets would have probably opened a higher this morning here in new york regardless but now that you have pfizer added into it and the vaccine added into it that just took expectations through the roof into it and that's why you're seeing the market so there are going to be issues with the buy and presidency of course the markets are worried about the senate control of the senate you know that's going to go of course to a runoff in georgia to see who has control of the senate the republicans or democrats the markets also want to are waiting to see about a potential bailout or or some sort of stimulus that we haven't had yet but bottom
6:11 pm
line is. take take this news with with the with the with the biden presidency looking like it's going to be coming up now in january and then also taking the pfizer news and that combined is what you're seeing has caused this incredible market reaction so thank you deborah louise under is that the new york stock exchange where if we check the big board right now stocks on the dow jones are up 4.3 percent over 1200 points that is a huge open on the news of the potential vaccine coming out of pfizer which they say is 90 percent effective. well president elect joe biden called that development of the covert 19 vaccine excellent news but warned americans to continue wearing their masks to keep social distancing as well at the same time the transition to a biden presidency is gathering pace and some priority decisions are already being
6:12 pm
made by his announced his task force to tackle the coronavirus pandemic co-chaired by dr david kessler who served in both the bush and clinton administrations on sunday biden visited a church cemetery where family members are buried including his late son donald trump still refusing to concede defeat and in fact escalating his legal case campaign says it's about to launch challenges in the states where he is disputing the counting of votes that some out playing golf world leaders including israel's benjamin netanyahu and saudi arabia have been some of also congratulated joe biden well former u.s. president and republican of course george w. bush sent his best wishes so that takes you through some of the updates we're going to be talking to at the white house in a moment we're starting there with mike hanna in joe biden's home town wilmington delaware hi mike let's talk 1st of all about the reaction from joe biden to the vaccine i mean it's the kind of news when you are coming into this job that he
6:13 pm
couldn't have hoped for more. indeed yes we may be hearing from joe biden in person in the next hour or so in the venue behind me here where he'll be holding a virtual meeting of his corona virus task force now he has released a statement saying that his health advisors told him about the pfizer vaccine in the course of the night which he has welcomed a congress in the team who developed that particular vaccine or in the process of doing it but and here's a very important but he quote the director of the c.d.c. robert revealed statement to a senate subcommittee back in september in which ridge field said firstly that he only expects a vaccine to be available in the 2nd or 3rd quarter 2022 but also biden quoting this statement for the foreseeable future a mosque remains a more potent weapon against the virus then the vaccine now this is very
6:14 pm
interesting because president trump was absolutely furious at redfield when the statement was made saying that the director of the c.d.c. was clearly confused by the response exactly the opposite reiterating and doubling down on that statement by the head of the c.d.c. saying we really welcomed the news about the vaccine but we have got to wait it will be months before were to be available to all americans even should the trials continue to be successful run in the interim says biden please wear that mask please wash your hands use following the science mike a quick word on transition which is the key word these days donald trump and we'll be talking to kimberly about was not conceding and so john joe biden presses on could this be the hurdles along the way though yes. the key phrase here is general services administration that is the body that will determine when the transition process formally begins that is the key but this is
6:15 pm
a subjective decision this nothing in the constitution that says when this decision is made and that is the lid to the left of the head of the general services administration emma murphy a political appointee and the democrats are already considering legal action to force her to make that declaration sooner rather than later ok so that's my kind of they're willing to delaware thank you for that mike. and now we move to the white house is kimberly how could hi kimberly what is donald trump up to today i'm going to say maybe not to go thing for a change and instead launching legal challenges. that is what we understand that the trump campaign will be launching a series of legal challenges so there is going to be a bit of pressure on the trump campaign to provide the evidence that says it has there has been widespread voting irregularity in a number of states now over the weekend we learned that there were an increasing number of cases according to the campaign of people voting who were just sees to or
6:16 pm
returning mail in ballots that were for people who had moved out of the state so this is going to be a challenge for the campaign at the same time critics arguing that the number of irregular ballots if you will certainly would not change the outcome of the u.s. election so this is something that we're watching very carefully in the midst of all of this as it comes to the schedule of the president we should point out that is there are no public events on donald trump schedule i believe this is the 4th day in the row 4 that that's the case it seems is really focusing on those legal challenges kimberly i mentioned about congratulations coming in for joe biden and that includes congratulations coming in from republicans most notably former president george w. bush how much of a of a blow to that is is that to the trumpet ministration. you know that there is a schism in the republican party now and george w.
6:17 pm
bush and also senator mitt romney are kind of see it is the old republicans not the party of trump there is a real division in terms of those that support the president those that do not they tend to be more middle of the road republicans versus some of the further right republicans in the party of trump that you have now so what you're seeing is is those on the sort of middle of the road saying look it's time to concede for the good of the country and then you have those like senator ted cruz and also lindsey graham in the u.s. senate who are saying trump should and can see that he has an obligation to the $70000000.00 plus americans who said that voted for him and they expect the president to fight they say that this is not yet an official lecture result and they want to see this court challenge just push through and you've got potentially 73 more days of this kimberly just so you know how good is our white house correspondent it's monday morning. yeah so we want to talk more about the
6:18 pm
transition of power now and we're going to do it through some models and scenarios which were actually created back in june something called a transition integrity project again doubt a series of possibilities as to what could happen in the election and the transition did so with a number of. former politicians governors campaign managers all providing their expert advice and a lot of those scenarios did not end too well very pleased to say we can speak to neil's gillman in los angeles who is co-founder of the transition integrity project president of the bergen institute thank you for your time i hope i know i did a very brief outline of what you did there but i hope i did it some sort of justice take me through the basics of the scenarios and why they all seem to point to things not going so well and in fact what is happening right now. right well in june of this year we ran a series of exercises that basically tried to game out what could possibly happen
6:19 pm
if we had a president who was unbounded by norms and unconstrained by his own party and what we concluded was that you know the results of the game were that absent decisive victory for joe biden the threat to the integrity of the electoral process itself and the transition to a new administration were potentially quite severe and indeed much of what the players in the games anticipated could happen have come to pass trump and his and his supporters i mean right wing media have projected a narrative that the election is being stolen and to contest the results through a variety of changes in the electoral process both at the state level and at the electoral college level did any of your scenarios extend beyond this political problems we see now into the idea of even some sort of civil unrest because there was a lot of concern in the days before the vote that things could get out of hand. yeah well what we found was in the games where the election results were very close both
6:20 pm
sides called their supporters into the streets with obviously great risk that there could be contests station violent contestation between competing groups of protesters and in fact you know what's actually happened is that the election is not all that close so republicans are claiming it's close but in fact it's not very close. you know there have been at least 10 elections in u.s. history that we're closer than this one including 201-629-7696 extension 8 so in fact what we have is a situation where i don't think that the trump team has a real viable path to winning this election but i'm not sure that even that's their goal at this point what they're trying to do is lay down a marker that the results are illegitimate so that they can continue to contest and fight the biden ministration into 2021 and beyond ok so let's. hear from now where we say legal action happens it's unsuccessful the $538.00 electors
6:21 pm
meet in december and everything goes according to the numbers as they are and joe biden is confirmed then was it don't trump still doesn't like it i think all bets are off right. well i mean i think you know i don't think he's actually going to physically resist leaving the white house you know if it comes to that i would be very surprised at some point he gets frog marched out of there by the secret service and told to you know get in his car and go back tomorrow a lot go wherever he wants to go but he's not going to be allowed to stand definitely and i don't think it'll come down to a physical confrontation i think what he wants to do is be able to have a basis to continue to activate the 70000000 people who voted for him and the many more people who are fans of his and continue to use them to continue his career as a political celebrity and i believe that he will continue to do that in a way that's quite on traditional right i mean if you think about the way in which most presidents conduct their post presidency they basically go off into the into the sunset trump i believe will be just as unconventional in his post presidency as
6:22 pm
he has been in his presidency and will continue to be in the spotlight criticize the existing administration perhaps even seek to run again in 2024 it's very possible now let's just quickly obviously you want to be accurate in your research and you'll scenarios when you did all this back in june was this one where you were kind of hoping i hope i'm not right. well obviously the reason why we ran the games was not merely to anticipate what could go wrong but to plan and to make sure that things that might go wrong would be mitigated and i think the one reason why i think it's gone reasonably well is because partly because of the work that members of the transition integrity project as well as many many others across the country have done you know secretaries of state both republicans and democrats have done a fantastic job of ensuring that the vote went according to plan on both in the run up mail in voting early voting and on election day november 3rd remarkably smooth very stories of destruction this is part of what's challenging for trump and his
6:23 pm
legal strategy to contest the results is there was a very few reported results of any irregularities you know if you have $100.00 irregularities that would be only one in a 1000000 votes was irregular you know 150000000 votes cast so you know that's not going to be decisive at all and so i think the prophylactic efforts that were made in the wake of the transition integrity project have been important for making sure that the worst did not come to pass. gilman is from the transition integrity project fascinating talking to you thank you for your time thank you very much. plenty of other news going on we're going to start with libya and a new round of talks getting underway in capitol 75 libyan representatives of various groups have been invited by the u.n. which is leading the discussions past month both sides announced a permanent cease fire which has largely held the talks are
6:24 pm
a way to set up the groundwork for possible elections well the president addressed the gathering saying peace in libya and the region relies on unity between all the billions. libya's unified nation some people talk of western and eastern libya but we tell them that libyans are one people this kind of rhetorical could lead to the division of libya's the tunisian people refuse this because they know that all libyans refuse it to us it's a danger on the region as a whole and as it could open the door to division in other neighboring nations more often clear harriet in his capital she says delegates are focused on producing a roadmap to hold national elections in libya. so what's happening in tunis is the 1st in paris a meeting of the libyan political dialogue for them these are talks brokered by the united nations and the u.n. has in fated 75 delegates from libya to take part but that number 75 doesn't
6:25 pm
actually have anything to do with libya the u.n. chose that number because this 75th anniversary this year of the signing of the u.n. charter so these 75 people are broadly representative of libya according to the acting u.n. special envoy stephanie williams and she's an american diplomat who's address the conference this morning in arabic seeing we are on the very edge of a new libya so what is the aim for this new libya well in a word it's elections these delegates are tough sgt with devising a road map that's the un's word essentially a blueprint for a specific set of mechanisms to allow elections to happen as soon as possible and these elections are to result in a single unified libyan government so fractured is libya that there are 2 rival administrations each claiming to be the legitimate one indeed in president case aid
6:26 pm
has called these talks historic by old measured measures and of caution against the splitting up of the country so the hope therefore is that these elections are the best means to address the crisis in the just mysie of the current institutions and the long period of transition and the cycle of violence that has accompanied it. now the leadership in ethiopia's north and to great regions says the area's been hit by at least 10 government airstrikes prime minister ordered the offensive against forces in the region 5 days ago accusing them of trying to break up the country that says the operation will end soon and those responsible will be brought to justice ivory coast the president has been officially reelected the constitutional court has endorsed the results of october's election after opposition members disputed ouattara running for a 3rd term more than 30 people were killed in the post-election violence. has more
6:27 pm
for us from. the reactions came even before the constitutional court passed its verdict there were incidents reported in your program we vary it to all neighborhoods of abidjan and we're also hearing about other incidents outside of the economic capital but for the time being things are calm on the streets of abidjan here right now the incidents. of the day was put down by the police when they fired tear gas to disperse a group of professors protestors opposition supporters in fact who are out on the streets similar incident is reported in your pool go in another section of your poem and then 21. governing party says it's one enough seats to form a government despite no official announcement from the election commission vote counting is still going on the national league for democracy party which is led by
6:28 pm
and son suchi won a landslide election victory 5 years ago and has more now from young. we were supposed to get some results earlier today was supposed to get the 1st such results around 12 new and more around for the unfortunately the union election commission hasn't released them yet i think there's been some issues going on that they knocked on their facebook page this morning that they've been. late last night in that they were at sort of the problem but we're still not hearing the officials out but the current is a post being done by individual parties and the n.l.b. national league for democracy the only party on some teachings party has announced that they feel they have enough seats to form a government you need a majority and holly she's they will be able to choose the president which is the most significant thing because it is the president the most powerful position in iraq that manages that chooses the ministries that forms the government so it is quite significant if it's true we all still waiting on the official results but all
6:29 pm
signs at the moment point to and i'll do you when i'm not just a win as we expected but a huge majority a landslide victory as we saw in 2015 the elders even saying they think they may have got more seats than they did in 2015 so quite significant. here's what's coming up for you on this news on the war of words between azerbaijan and armenia as thousands flee the disputed region of the bone i caught about. also one of the 7 wonders of the world reopens but under some strict coronavirus international stopped being closed for 8 months and sports teams were paid up following his father's footsteps and will hear from the driver who has just become the new champion of nascar. however whether it's looking
6:30 pm
a little disturbed across parts of the middle east at the moment we've got some rather more the way of cloud across northern areas of the rate you see how that class stretches from the black sea right down towards northern parts of saudi arabia basin pieces of cloud in for a possibility west the weather making its way across syria into iraq into iran fading over towards kuwait as well and you see how that just stretches way across the north of saudi arabia would you say catch a shower here could lead to some localized flooding a little bit of traffic disruptions certainly a possibility that rain a little more lively as we go on through wednesday that said of the cases that these over towards iran some heavy downpours coming through pushing right up to the southern shores of the caspian there a somewhat weather by the state may want to stay fine and dry here in doha temperatures a pleasant 30 degrees celsius lots of hazy sunshine and that's the case across a good part of the southern areas of the arabian peninsula wanted to show us into the southern end of the red sea plenty of showers across central parts of africa
6:31 pm
and they stretch their way quite nicely with towards the go bomb that was see some more heavy showers those short runs of course into tanzania into kenya heavy downpours across the eastern side of south africa over the next couple of days. my name is matthew castle i grew up jewish in america and i support the palestinian struggle against occupation when politics can pass and my mom saw me at a protest in chicago carrying a palestinian flag she told me i was no longer her son is it possible to be jewish and critical of zionism and. i do palestinian solidarity work against the most jewish thing i can do what about the treatment towards the palestinians and the occupation that an al-jazeera correspondent. held for over 3 years in an egyptian prison cell denied the right to a fair trial no charges have been brought against al jazeera correspondent my new
6:32 pm
saying his crime journalism. to demand more neutral links and voice solidarity with all detained journalists sign the petition. 3 o'clock news saying. lose. lose. on the news on here at al-jazeera and these are the top stories serious drugs make a pfizer says its covert 19 vaccine candidate has proven to be more than 90 percent effective and says it's on track to seek regulatory approval to sell the vaccine by the end of the month u.s.
6:33 pm
president elect joe biden said anstice transitional code 1919 meanwhile he says tackling the pandemic will be one of his 4 biggest priorities the u.s. continues to record record steady numbers of infections and peace talks taking place over libya $75.00 representatives from across the country have been invited to the united nations leading those discussions about such a course announced a permanent cease fire last month which has largely held. officials in the disputed region of going to now say the city of sure has been taken by the forces those claims which had initially been denied thousands of armenians are now fleeing the area a long line of traffic seen on the outskirts of the regional capitals to panic out as people try to escape the fighting so in a moment we'll get the latest from a summit in java had who is in the azerbaijan capital backer let's start though with hoda abdel-hamid in the armenian town of 7 mass exodus effectively. where are
6:34 pm
they all going. well it. started a couple of days ago you've seen this sort of wave of people evacuating from the panic now certainly with this announcement made by this book's person of nagorno-karabakh on his facebook page and that would cause more panic among the few are still left but i could do a moment now he said as you just said that shoe she was out of was lost that they had completely it was completely out of their control and he added that the as forces 'd were coming very close to stiffen like it that this i have to say is a complete turnaround from what was said earlier in the day when the message coming from both nagorno-karabakh annular of and was actually that the armenian forces
6:35 pm
were putting up a fight and were managing to push back forces specially south of shushi. it's a complete change of tone what is also quite surprising is that we haven't heard much from year of and the ministry of defense has been quite silent ever since the spokesman has made this statement on his facebook page and just minutes ago prime minister passionately and has also written on his facebook page but something very vague he said that the back to her shoes she is on going and if they would i mean it will never end this fight will keep on trying as much as it can on the ground so that quite a vague statement there from the prime minister it seems that he is under a lot of pressure because also a few minutes ago the main opposition group in parliament and some other opposition personalities outside of parliament have called for the prime minister to resign
6:36 pm
they put the blame of all what's happening at the moment to discuss tree on his. specifically so it seems that there's something going on. seems to have been lost whether the army inside is whether it is willing to admit it at the moment it doesn't seem the case whether they're preparing to have another fight maybe but they're certainly at a loss on the ground. but also has to plan a carrot thank you. who is in 7 armenia and now. in back of an update from your osama. welcome all we've been hearing these conflicting claims coming from the armenian sign but it has been adamant defiance and celebrations here in the azerbaijani county baku today the president came out and said that 23 more villages along the line of contact have been taken by as of a journey forces and his forces are fully in control of as it is known here in
6:37 pm
answer by john we've also heard from the ministry of defense releasing a video of azerbaijani flag on various buildings in inside that strategic mountain top town which overlooks the capital of that they're going to kind of buffer against about a kurd as it's known in armenia and one can the as it's known in azerbaijan you also heard from military sources saying that now the situation if you just look at the geography of the step on it could they have been able to they have been able to manage to block off at least 3 sides of the supply routes from the southeast and southwest and also from the north and only in the eastern corridor remains for the supply routes to come into this conflict in the capital of the can conflict the region so it is going to be difficult for the remaining armenian troops and the forces there to put up a fight so far they have held up the other by johnnie's have taken shushi they've
6:38 pm
taken these control to the carriers and therefore they. from there it runs trying to make sure that any remnants of fights and groups that are there are taken out before they move forward but it seems that now that the army. has conceded that issue she has fallen it is going to go into the favor of the forces who say they will not stop until the whole region which they see as an occupied territory is taken by some of injury but that update from baku thank you turkey's finance minister says he is resigning because of health reasons but out. is also the son in law of president egypt time when he made the announcement on his instagram account 2 days after the central bank governor was sacked turkey's currency the euro has lost 30 percent of its value against the u.s. dollar since the start of the year and of course the owners in istanbul in search of president accepts the resignation that will be a significant mood. for sure this resignation is going to be
6:39 pm
a game changer especially for president are gone and his ruling party decides to corner me because the polls the surveys show that the support for the rolling up party has been down to 33 percent where people accuse the bad economic management for this and it's not only the opposition or the investors accusing the government for bad economy management but it's also some circles within the our party and we have been hearing that a group of up party members were about to decided to resign and switch to other offshoot parties so just looking at today since the morning in the early morning tradings the turkish lira which lost 30 percent value against the american dollar has gained 1.7 percent against the american dollar just within the early trading which is seen as an investor optimism in turkey right now so what is next for

walk and he's in tbilisi. and it's not quite clear at this stage what happened who threw the 1st shot that say but. that the police that were gathered in large numbers right police used water cannon to disperse protesters the police saying that they were attempting to storm the building but the opposition stating that they were peaceful and that they had no intention of committing any violent acts but certainly a lot of anger and frustration at the way in which the situation seems to have been handled we've seen people who received injuries not clear from whether it was from water to the power of the water cannon or other things being thrown or or other things being involved but the reason the opposition did this march is that they wanted an ultimatum for the government to me which was for the resignation of the head of the central election commission and for new elections to be called well
