a culture allies. ship should be a verb and when what that means is that you must be doing something in the 1st thing and i think people need to do white people do racism is a white problem is a white invention so they have to develop culture to be able to hold it and work through it and they're not doing that when they're doing is is doing performative stuff they are kneeling they are you know saying you know how can i help if i hit out one more time i'm lose my i'm losing. everything or if they're not they're not developing they're not developing culture they're coming up with strategy game win streak and strategy is britto in the face of culture the k.k.k. have a culture they have songs they have colors they have all of it different type of stuff what does it white ally have they don't have story they don't have the elders they don't have anything and so it's immediate the ally ship peace is

assuming it's coming from from the protesters and whether they. you know and putting the onus of the violence on and then when a lot of times you have outside agitators like sometimes it is and often many times it's the actual police presence that and their actions that can incite more violence and so you know when it comes to doing protests they have been very powerful in matter or los angeles when they. said he was not trying to pass that budget you know like i mean i was actually in a meeting and they were kind of in some denial and a few days later when they camped out when they went to his nice neighborhood and protested they got that you know they got $150000000.00 cut from the l.a.p.d. so protest work it does work. let me give you an example not

you guess but you audience an example of where maybe my ship has been incredibly powerful as a football player. and company doesn't play for a little while or. he gives up with a white ally he recommended how does he protest police brutality he says the stories of police burst he said we met was as what you know i appreciate your service think i expressed to him maybe there's a different way to demonstrate where you're showing more respect for those that lay down their lives for what that flag man stands for i suggested you know kneeling because people knew the pray that you know will kneel in front of your fallen brothers grave you know to show respect he said i think that would be a very powerful happening choosing not to sit on the bench this time but to take me the fact that he was willing to listen and go to with me versus sitting about that was jewish that's an important step that he's taken i think other people need to take a step or 2 and maybe listen to. yes i am going to move on to sort of practical things

like counting as a coconspirator as a depressant but everyone according to students and i had that. teacher i think from being in this conversation it's going to get was the so called our eyes and set would have choice about their destruction not als why do you want to be out. hundreds of leads. this is this is what i said earlier and this is who it was sister sister minister said earlier also yuki if you if all you have to do is declare that you're an ally right then bodies of culture are going to distrust that if you don't have a work if you are not being intimate with other white folks in your homes for the next 3 to 10 years figuring out what does it really mean to live in a loud ally ship to or merge do your then then then then bodies of culture and black people specifically are going to be like you know what we have to do what we

have to do i'm not concerned whether or not you are creating culture so you're not passing down the virus of white body supremacy in a virus of racialization your virus of racism down to your children and so for me the most important thing if you are really about that life and trying to be an eyelash then you're going to when you get off this phone rather than sinning get off this that this show reading sending us messages you will see in your people messages and say for the next 3 years we go star read sister finish this book we're going to star read and other people's books and then we're going to get together for the next 3 years no matter what we're going to get our reps in because the reality is there is a white folks have a remedial understanding of race because they are advantaged by race they have not had to understand it we have had to and. understand it in order to survive so when

a white person comes up to me and says something about race before to get anything out of their moms i've already left the conversation because i know that their i understand your race is not steeped in culture that they've developed so that's where they can use a start not in what you do not how much kitty cloth you have on not how many times you neal and the dirty way do who told who told brother collin to kneel that was not an ally that was a white dude an ally comes from something he comes from a culture that dude can't did not come from a white abolitionist culture that was better have been honed over decades or years he did not come from that show he's just he's a white dude who gave good advice. yeah i can i am and i think and are and ally ship so a lot of my work muslim and terrorism collaborative is one focusing you know because like when we muslim americans are the most racially diverse filip just

group and the country so our solidarity practice is right of predominately people of color community and that also extends you know like our work extends up outside of that and so these conversations have to be had because anti blackness is global right and also the anti blackness and people color spaces and and the kind of model minority myths that that that happen and certain communities are actually positioned as model minority to really undermine you know the kind of work and so so as we think about ally ship parade in solidarity or you know coconspirators like all of that becomes like very complicated as different groups are impacted by white supremacy and their own commitment to that work and so you know thinking about what does that mean and i agree it is about you know a commitment to that action like i mean if you think about alliances historically

it's like you have to abide by certain agreements to be in that alliance there is a shared common issue or cause or common enemy and so we're talking about white supremacy and if people can't mean that then you're not a matter lions like you're not allied with me you're not fighting white supremacy so if i was watching us and i was a known a black person i wouldn't be quite here but a good person and he quickly what to do 1st we found to be on a wall they said to him good day here on my twitter page i just want to show them to you because it's not just about white people being good friends to black people in the struggle you could be any color right brianna well it's an awesome got to 2 queens on a mission to spread truth love and awareness we've been talking about ideas they have a practical solution they have a document we can stop doing this will help you out we spent yet this is what they

tell us. well there that still needing to initiatives or having was challenging conversations in your circles and changing this movement to all aspects of life and whether that's work school or home it's no longer the wait the black community to continue carrying this on their own we need the voice is our ally so help us amplify this conversation. yeah and it's not just the white community who needs to learn how to become better allies as a south asian woman at my i have to recognize that my experience as a model minority is not the same level of oppression or discrimination faced by the black community and just because i'm a person of color does not automatically mean that i'm becoming a good active ally. a lot of the members of the model minority who participate in and celebrate black culture but sometimes going too far as to say the n word or other words that we justify by saying oh well it's ok because i'm brown

or actually very damaging and perpetuate racism was in our own spaces ringback. i mean he said he picked up he had you know when you ask the question of like what to do i'm thinking about right now and this moment is me as an organizer i've been organizing demonstrations for over 20 years now and what i have been seeing at a lot of these demonstrations are white people coming to the friends of like basically coming to the front and forming barriers between protesters of color and the police in an effort to minimize the violence that police or an act that we've seen that before we've seen that in places like pakistan in baltimore and in baton rouge years ago and it's an effective tactic because the police are are more reluctant to attack white people white bodies then you know they are people of color so that's one tactic that we've been seeing but the other thing that i want to i wanted to just make sure that we cover is that when you ask the question of why is this time different now it is because of covert 19 it is because and as i wrote in my book it's going to take people experiencing something like what black

people have been experiencing for centuries right loss of money loss of jobs housing in jeopardy adequate housing security right so people are now waiting in line to eat they don't have jobs tens of millions of people do not have jobs and they're starting to feel the weight of that and they don't have anything to do right now because they've been home cleaning up their physical freedoms have been restricted and so when when george white died right on camera which was only it may 25th because we cannot forget pre-op it's halloween and i'm out our marine moon died in march right as coach it was taking over the news some people asked like why wasn't about briana taylor aside from her being a woman and the messiah journey in that it's that george happened in may 25th after people have been cooped up for 2 and a half months and they've been without a comfort zone and i have mine and people are just like what the heck what is the government doing to us oh my god they're doing to us what they've been doing some black people for centuries we need to join

a come together so there's not not everybody that's out in the streets it's poor george lloyd and i know that. or using him almost as a martyr which we shouldn't do because he did not deserve to die but he's become a symbolic because it happened as a perfect storm of things coming together economic turmoil you know the system is showing itself to be what we've always known it's been and people are waking up and becoming activated right now so i'm talking sensible things right now for those of you that are going out to these demonstrations you're wearing your mask i appreciate that you are linking arms you're standing in front you are protecting black people but what we're seeing now is the police will even shoot shoot they're starting white men with pepper spray and mace and rubber bullets and that's how you know this is different because the white woman is the most precious commodity that white supremacy has so police are being let's have white women you know we are in a different space so we need to offer to be activated my instagram following more than doubled in a week because white people want to know what can i do you can start by listening

to folks like the people right here who have been doing this work for cade's and already have a lot of ideas we've been trying to get out and use your voice to amplify this but don't talk over us so come and tell us what we need to be doing listen and learn. sres mike i'm going to get you to respond to kareen she time and kareen ok it's almost as if kareen channeled let him in east was about to say to people who want to pull the flat life not a movement he she is this is what she told us and then resume you actually don't call myself an ally is that something that you are right apps instead i say that i'm practicing anti-racism and so that's an internal process where i am trying to be humble about is the 1st and most crucial thing to be humble and to be willing to learn from people of color who are the experts i constantly trying to do the best myself with my white fragility of right and sadness so that's the internal piece

and then the 2nd piece of practicing anti-racism is of course to dismantle white supremacy which exists in every institution in the united states up to and including the federal government yes and i learnt the a practice that she uses because in your therapy in your work you then each people from different communities how to practice could you give as. good friends you want to support that movement any single practice that they could start off with like begin as practiced then come together themselves get into a house themselves commit to doing it in bodied way for 3 years do what do what the white woman and my friend robin d'angelo races is that this is how when black people know it you're an ally. how would they know they would know by your practice and so what i would say practically is there white folks have to come

together they have to begin to create culture and practically i'm not one for tips i'm not going to give tips what i'm going to say is is that this if if if if why folks don't develop culture in people who the entitled blackness the black body is where america does its dirt and if people are not excavating that and working with it in dealing with the ugliness of it they move not staying with this movement we won't see them next year you'll cut off their blond dreadlocks and move out to a suburb and we'll never know that they were in the movement and so for me why folks gotta come together gotta study gotta read gotta right gotta get mad at each other gotta feel each other gotta go away from each other and come back in order to develop a somatic abolitionist anti white supremacist culture. mongery let me put this in your law so we actually you're on

a new chain mother let me put this to denise baker hi denise how do i remain vigilant against racism and not allow anyone to silence at the again that's a big ask mongering i know you can. be being vigilant against racism i mean when you can't be silent but there you are person of color or not black person of color you're a black person if you're white person speaking up against racism so i mean you do have i mean we do have our voices we have spaces where we can speak right and there may be consequences for that just like women when as as i tweet as i write as i text like there are consequences that i have or for whatever when i've spoken against injustice when i've spoken against racist islam phobic sexist policies it all you know it for those who benefit from that they may. feel like it's not even fragility i hate to use fragility because there's retribution and it's social

dominance right and so when there's things that do not have been and it's like you have to fortify your so and understand like what your your role is like each one of us is a leader in doing this work and so right now i mean you're seeing worldwide people speaking out against authoritarian regimes and we're seeing you know that authoritarianism coming in you know right now in the united states and that it is important that we be ever vigilant and that we refine our voices and that we seek to amplify our voices by synchronizing our voices with shared analysis about white supremacy and how white harms all of us. so that who is are important and i want to make sure that we don't we're not a time to if you're watching us and you want to be a good friend to people in the highest matter movement pushing you are not that you can do. any less than going to feminists to jens she will tell you what you should

be doing. raise her medicare have he will tell you he will give you practice and he will help you. there may be a fee involved but hey this is important always a. muslim are can this is not the result in my position it is extraordinary these not just here but even trying to ask are you can do it you can be good friends to people who are in the struggle save for me nice to you think it's the time to the kind of eyes pandemic modern what's the. want to do with that the one sentence that people should remember one sentence you've got to inspired by what would it be right now or all along in the streets because we are impacted by covert 19 and or seeing how it supremacy hurts us all so in being an ally understand how like how you're impacted circe your skin in the game and be

committed to solidarity practices and upbringing as high uprooting white supremacy within your own life that's a very long sentence but it was worth while retaining your one and. ok your declaration is not adequate and you have to build culture in you have to come together. and develop a culture shorn your children for your children because otherwise you're going to be passing down the trauma of racism to your child. i mean nice to take us out with your one sentence i know it's going to be one you're not going to pal a prairie in pedagogy up your press teaches us that it is not the responsibility of oppressed people to oppressors of the oppression of being an oppressor so it is up so those of you with triplets and those who benefit from white supremacy school levy yourselves and liberate yourselves from your oppressor status is not our top.
