all right as we wait for the defense attorney eric nelson to reka menses cross-examination of the witness the 1st witness to take the trial just tell you what we've been seeing the past half hour or so and that is his cross-examination off jenna scurry or once again she's the 911 dispatcher who had alerted her police supervisor and may after she watched officers pin george floyd to the ground live on surveillance camera a little earlier on about an hour and a half or so ago the prosecution was questioning her and they asked her to watch that surveillance camera video of the arrest and at the time she had to explain what she saw and earlier on during the day with the opening statements the prosecutor one of the prosecutors jerry blackwell said that jenna scary of the 1st
10:01 pm
witness had done something quote she had never done in her career she called the police on the police and now we can get back to eric nelson a defense attorney and listen to what he has to say. to me in 11 seconds. here emasculate 3 from squad 330 it's called 2135 seconds. arrival time of. 2036. so he 2036 seconds in the us around is correct. and you missed didn't stay on the
10:02 pm
scene. you know he left. and they indicated that they went to $36.00 then park right. and they didn't go to $36.00 and park to the. events. that that's where i believe they were ok. so to your your belief they went to 36 and park because that's what they called up to correct correct. do you recall fire having trouble finding a mass at 36 yes. because they didn't go to 36 and park they went to 36 in chicago. or did i don't know i don't i actually don't know that's what i'm after those comments i did not know that spreading lanes ok so alternately there was some confusion between fire and mouse about where e.m.'s actually was and you heard back radio chatter. i heard i asked that question i met him which is reflected in
10:03 pm
there and they relayed the information that i had at 36 that park which was also added to that other than that you know their locations ok no ultimately. you said that you were watching this video. and you were still in you were still watching your rest of your work right correct us actively still working so you're look up for trouble seconds look down do your work look up look down from time to time throughout the course of this incident here. and so it's fair to say that your attention wasn't necessarily focused directly on the cameras and what you were seeing correct and you but it was concerning enough to you what you did see that you called sergeant pfluger of the minneapolis police department 30 percent right i was concerned. yes because of the time of the light that the
10:04 pm
incident had not changed. so you call. when you listen to your video or the audio of your call to sergeant router and you called sergeant lugar at. 830 and 44 seconds. is that the time of the call correct 203044 yes that's. so the front misspoke was at 830 and 44 seconds and in fact during the phone call you were you must have looked back at the camera and saw that they were all wrong correct because your like you said something to the effect of kuwait there. and. your time that you had. called into the the. met lamed. was at.
10:05 pm
831 in 12 seconds. that sound right to you from the mekon. then ultimately squad $330.00 indicated that they were going out to check on the status says he of the that's something that squad 3 3rd typed into the system. and that was at. 55 ok right now again you were concerned because of the length of the time that you saw this incident unfold right there and i think you said that at one point you thought maybe the camera had even frozen right because it seemed to be kind of prolonged and you can't hear anything on that video could you know you had no idea what officers were
10:06 pm
talking about amongst each other or what they were talking about with others who were present right yorkers and again you. you not being a minneapolis police officer are not familiar with the use of force requirements correct there are but you are aware that when uses of force are made or used. sometimes you'll hear dispatch officer call for a sergeant because they need someone to review or use of force right. and you have at the time you call officer plumer or sergeant kluger you haven't received any sort of a dispatch from squad 32330 or squad 30 hey we need a son to review the use of force your current now every single time the minneapolis police department uses force do they go through the dispatch process over using a radio well to get into the sergeant to report the use of force right now so you
10:07 pm
don't know whether someone called up sergeant lugar on a cell phone and said hey we need to go there and so because at 830 when you called sergeant lugar you had not yet. heard that dispatch right and sometimes when the use of force occurred incident occurs that call may be to the sergeant to review the use of force maybe fairly quick and sometimes i mean take a few minutes or a. chair and it just depends on the circumstances and the situation right. now you indicated that there were these t.v.'s there are more cameras within the city of minneapolis than 6 or 9 t.v.'s or 3 yes are the
10:08 pm
televisions like are they split screen where you can see 5 or 6 cameras at one time or. today is a one big t.v. with one big hit it is split screens and then you can go into. different. thinking back to when you watched the video here in court. you said that it was similar to the video that you had watched previous right yes. would you agree with me that the video that we just watched in court seemed to be moving very slowly. in terms of choppy pace pace. yes. so any incident that you
10:09 pm
10:10 pm
you know it should be. can we put. oh. there. was. this day one. so now when you watch this in video seems to be moving a little faster time correct. because these cameras actually transmit real time occurrences correct. when you said that you. first kind of took notice based on your estimate at 17 so i'm going to just.
10:11 pm
this is in 17 and 38 seconds. so this is in 17 in about 30 seconds and this is when you 1st sort of took notice of these cameras on this work. at the call center. there in terms of the pacing of this is this more consistent with real time yes. in one of the things you automatically told agent peterson was how you noticed how the squad car was rocking back and forth during the stroke. if you could just watch this and tell me when you start to see that. currently
10:12 pm
shaping. now mary jane. and by rocking back and forth the cars are actually going forward a little backwards and it's happening over and over and over right and it's happening happening pretty much consistently during the course of the interaction of the office. craig and that that back door is opening and closing on the officers right. now the other things that you notice when you look at this intersection this is a pretty busy intersection correct lots of cars coming by lots of people wandering about this was may 25th pretty nice spring day in the middle of. not long after being. cooped up inside here cracked.
10:13 pm
so now ultimately. you observe and in you saw these officers using force right or what you believe to be force but not at this crime. reporter or putting them in the school. yet in there with what you observed was a struggle between the officers and the person they were arresting. correct. and the struggle alternately resulted in that squad shaking knocking forth. correct. and when you ultimately called sergeant lugar you you said i don't know if this is a use of force or not right correct and sergeant lugar told you that it could be
10:14 pm
10:15 pm
discouraged if you follow up questions. i'm going to put 151 back up on the screen for you because i think in the questioning counsel had asked you about that lake i think was the term of yours i just want to clarify that 2 points. and i want to just clarify those times as well so if we go down to. the time of 203112 and if we could just expand that out so we can all see a little better please. i think counsel asked you about those 203112 that being the met coal. having looked at
10:16 pm
this and what time was your met call. the information that it was that why. 33 for the med com. that is our resource that we used radio or radio in the metro so we can. be quick and be able to get information back and board. so that 20330.20 what is the purpose of that entry right there what are you reflecting. i may ask ina. basically what is the reason why fire was added. i got out there and asked what it what do you need fire for. because there were no i dish no comments of saying why they were needed code. and so what you've typed in there by a mad cow. is and you sent out. yes yes is has to tell what the information that i got commas that you misspelled like of fire
10:17 pm
department for ph and condition as requested vocation apart 36 so that's the answer you got is that fire want that you must want to go cracked or so that was information received before 2033 o 2 but you're sent over at that time. current status that time of the time in body and in there. when you have referred to your word to use that day and. as channel one. how does that signify you're from other dispatchers. the other 2 other channels there's channel 2 which is in charge of the north side and their shame of 3 who has downtown in the 5th grade seems and then we have a relief dispatcher who is there to help us when the brakes are we need to get up
10:18 pm
for any given race. so when you're dispatching or channel one cycle citywide or just precinct work. just on those 2 precincts i have my own dedicated channel. having been questioned by opposing counsel. about your call as you sit here today have you changed your mind about the reasons why you called sergeant we here when you're doing now. you were asked about. the number of screens that you have. looking at all those and still being able to see what was going on in this call from the city camera. that's spent your work set up for about 7 years correct or something you do want to daily basis to keep track of all these moving parts yes.
10:19 pm
and that's video that's up there. on some you know work messages and put up the city cameras correct correct. but you don't control the. do you know who or what office controls that you can change sometimes the supervisors and are sent care can pull up cameras. where gates said sometimes we put them on near just to see what the weather is. especially if we have a permit whether if there are storms coming through we can see actually how severe they are when people are calling in sometimes they put them up for incidences we can see in you and those cameras can be taken away from us. to the fact that the base which is the precinct desk has control over them and can move them to where everything into a winning team so what you're saying is that those cameras where they're
10:20 pm
pointed and when they're available to you can be controlled by members of the police are crap. and in your 6 years by this date 7 years now it's rare it's a rare incident for somebody to put that incident to put an incident up on the screen like that. and nothing from there. really thinking that really mean anything. stephen called state's witness.
10:21 pm
10:22 pm
going to leave but. before we begin this and so we can close up the microphone. could you give us your full name spelling each of your name but not. at least i'm really that they can and i'm the oh and they are and i think i'm going to pull up the locals who really were perfect thank you this is lucia. thank you very much your honor in this way letter the key i'm going to give you is that when you speak you should be able to hear your own voice over the speakers race or just lean close enough to the microphone. to write. so 1st i'm going to ask you a few questions so we can get to know you better hold or you 2323 are you originally from minnesota. where religion or no i'm from there is. nothing i don't like. it. ok can
10:23 pm
you. thank you thank you you can even pretend you're yelling at me if you want to make your make your voice at the back of the room right ok so you said that you grew up in arizona is that right you know what part of. the whole state you're ok but when did you made your way over to minnesota. and we still in high school. did you attend any schools when you moved to the us so. where did you go to school. in it read when minnesota where else did you go. see all. what's the last grade you completed through high school. can you tell the
10:24 pm

10:25 pm

10:27 pm
it into a police officer her senior because she thought that it went on for so long she thought quote her screams had frozen. sound back now and feet they were listening intently showing being giving her evidence that i'm going to show you exhibit one if you can take a look at the screen it just this is the one from. you do you recognize when shown in exhibit one here. do you see this way were used were you know in the room if you are so. do you have something that looks like this in family. or we're going to do this is to see the process of the room speak we're.
