as he spoke exclusively to edge 0 and figured as he'll feel how cool and read him in the cold concept of the upcoming government is that it will be at 2nd aquatic government made up of sudanese, qualified professionals with about with one half years are left out of the transitional period. the whole, the upcoming government, according to me, should focus on very specific issues, chiefly the completion of transition into a democracy. and it's related obligations like the convenience of the constitutional conference and holding the elections. you all know that the elections would require one full year at least, may drag on for one and a half years. i hope we can all agree on an independent government that can crites during the remaining time of the transitional period, where as government would lead the country until the scheduled elections go when assessing has developed on the part in new knowledge about this is

a key part of the political agreement we saw, you said, was that the prime minister should have the power and authority to full and independent technocratic government in absolute liberty and without any pressure. and this is what we sign the agreement fall. and then a concert is, has a model and then i would like to speak, frankly, i don't have any personal ambitions to remain a figurehead or to join a particular party or group or to gain higher popularity. i'm all driven by the responsibility placed on my shoulder. i am guided only by the ambitions and hopes of the 3rd and his people. therefore, i have made up my mind and science political agreement. although i know that many may disagree objective or rejected simply because the people's ambitions and aspirations were much higher than the moment. however, i signed it, and i read to read that i do not have any personal game. otherwise,
5:04 am
i wouldn't have accepted the office in the 1st place with all my challenges over the past 2 years. the issue of personal gain does not worry me at all. i believe the decision i made is correct and to the best interest of the people. that's why i went forward and signed the political agreement and you can watch the full interview with sedans, reinstated prime minister de la handed on talk to you. on monday, at $730.00 gmc, they have a morgan has more now on the days events from hard to a breakthrough incidence political crisis nearly a month after military takeover and did the solution of the transitional government on sunday, military leader general add them for their and for hon and the post prime minister of the lamp dog signed an agreement that paved the way for him took to be reinstated as a defer when i signed this political agreement, i was guided by a number of key principles. chiefly,
5:05 am
among them is to avoid further bloodshed. our people are prepared to sacrifice more, but every drop of blood pressures. the agreement comes after weeks of negotiations between the 2 sides, mediated by sudanese political figures. it's called for the release of political prisoners, including senior officials who were arrested on october 25th the day of the takeover. and in the days that followed, the agreement also lays out a plan to expand political participation in the transitional government. general hon who cited political divisions as the reason for his taking power, says the deal will lead to dialogue to end those divisions. re daughter i losolsi, we been living in crisis for a long time. and by signing this declaration, we were able to establish a real foundation for a transitional period. as envisioned, sudan has been governed by a power sharing agreement between the military and the political coalition, known as the forces of freedom and change since august 2019. but the months leading
5:06 am
to the recent military takeover, so tensions between the 2 sides, both accused each other of slow economic recovery and lack of judicial reforms. the agreement signed between ham dog and general hon may have reinstated him duke as prime minister. but it doesn't mean the end of the dance political crisis since the takeover. nearly a month ago, there have been processed nearly every day with people demanding an entirely civilian government and an enter the partnership between the military and civilians . sunday deal means the military remains as a governing partner, and that has angered many here. thousands protested near the presidential palace and heard soon before the signing of the deal. authorities responded by firing, tear gas and live ammunition in the air. at least, 40 protested, have been killed since the military took over and more than 200 injured the forces of freedom and change which nominated him duke as prime minister back in 2019 has distance itself from the deal. and analysts said they are questions about how much the military can be trusted. the last month has been
5:07 am
a total fiasco for the military. why? because they did what they did. and suddenly they had to do a 180 degrees return. that doesn't mean that the prime minister was suddenly that all over the land. but what it means is that there is a momentum, suddenly not in favor of the generals, but rather on the favor of the street. but as you said, we will see where will this take us because there are a number of dynamics at play here. there's the military, there's a street, there's the neighbors on the african union, and there's the international community for now. so dan takes a mother and foot in step in its transition. he will morgan al jazeera cartoon, a far right populous. jose antonio cast is leading in chillies. presidential election with 28 percent support of the 90 percent of the votes counted. he's facing a run off in december against most likely left when congressmen and former student protest leader gabriel boys. she's got 25 percent of the vote. both of them are

outside the traditional political parties. cast the dress, his supporters, he's already claimed victory made a fossil, but i got it. and i got to tell you we have made a 1st step so that hope becomes a reality. we've been walking along towards this step and it's the 1st one that's important. that will be opinion polls, but today the to lay in people have spoken and they've given us the majority to all of them to the simple and humble people who dare to vote to all those who came from hundreds of kilometers away just to vote. thank you. from the bottom of my heart, we're going to regain peace, order progress, and our liberty from to day on would. or daniel swan, la, is life force outside the campaign headquarters for jose antonio cast in santiago. so daniel, jupiter moved among his supporters there. but it's, it's far from clear what's going to happen in that run off in,

in december with the gabriel boyd's. oh, that's certainly the case. i mean, it's the few stragglers i hear as they're packing up the stage at the jose antonio cast headquarters, an open air rally he had when those results were coming in. but yes, it now is almost certain that it will be a him versus gabriella bought it. the leader, the candidates for the left wing coalition, the other 5 candidates in the race or drop out now the highest place, 3rd place candidates are franco, but he only got 13 percent of the vote. so it's now a case of what happens to those votes. the other 5 candidates, will they go to bought it or will they go to cash or so there was a turn out to something like 42 percent. not mean something like 8 and a half 1000000 gallons. didn't vote in these elections either disillusioned with politics and the politicians, or whatever other reason there may be. so it's now a case of whether they are likely to vote in december on december the 19th and that
5:10 am
2nd round. and if so, who they will vote for us to really a lot to play for. there were 2 and a half percentage points between the 2 main candidates. so radia a long way to go was a playful on the december. the 19th indeed. and what are we to make of all is daniel to outside a candidates, seemingly from, from opposite extremes of the political spectrum in chalet has this laid bed the tensions in the country? well, i think very much so certainly from the left wing. palmer's promising radical change, and then in many cases, a reaction to that radical change represented by jose antonio old cast, who was promising a good security. ah, and i made many of the are the values family values or that kind of thing. many of the things that were chalet and traditional to lands. oh dear. and turning to him, perhaps concerned about some of those radical changes that are being are being

talked about. all right, for the woman daniel shiloh swan la life was there in santiago, thanks. thing i latin america editor, lucy newman, says gabriel, boy, she is. supporters are still optimistic about the outcome. i'm a wi body just campaign headquarters where hundreds of his support, hers and advisors are here and they're all saying the same thing. they have a battle ahead of them, but they believe that they will win. as you see, new people are saying no more cast no more. right wing burridge will be the president of chile. no more going back to the nursing over and over again. and then, because it presents for them a future, a different future for this country of social political, any economic achieve that want to make to lead a far more equal society. but they know that they are confronting a very,
5:12 am
very important rival, a very strong rival, much stronger that they could have expected. and it's very uncertain right now. which way the about that did not go to either. one of the candidates will go in the 2nd round, so as of tomorrow, they say they will go out and fight for every single mode. it did not go to the body so that he can win in the 2nd round either way. it makes it very clear that chile is now a more divided country than it has been since 99 that oppose of closed in venezuela by millions of voted in regional and local elections. the main opposition is taking part for the 1st time in 4 years having boycotted previous elections. a 100 observers from the european union are monitoring the vote at 1000 polling stations. president nicholas, my daughter has been accused of electoral fraud in the past that i suppose in the capitol crackers she has. this report were here at the national electro council.
5:13 am
and this is the place where there was cause of these regional elections will be coming in this important election for venezuela because it's the 1st time in 4 years, separate opposition of this country decided to participate. and why is that? well, the opposition says that they have been given suddenly assurances by the government among them. the presence of witnesses at the polling stations also that now to members of the national electoral council are part of the opposition are also of course, the presence of the european union. this is the 1st time in 15 years that the european union president in an election in venezuela, their own servers have been deployed all across the country. they have been monitoring the result. they've been monitoring the campaign there in legal experts, human rights lawyers, among other things that are monitoring and serving this election has been in the middle of an enormous crisis and economic crisis course,
5:14 am
mostly by dropping the price of oil by your sanctions, among other things. and also our political crisis with thousands of people protesting on the streets, millions leaving the country escaping poverty. so in a way for many this elections are important because it's a step forward. the opposition participating in this process, a possibility, an opening away towards presidential elections in the future. and that's why the final report by the european union, is going to be monitored by the government of nicola, but also by the opposition of police. they, some people have died after a car drove into a crowd in the u. s. city of walker. sho, in wisconsin. more than 20 people including children taking the hospitals following the incident and happened while people were marching in the cities christmas parade . and s u, v. broke through barriers before driving through the parade route to the high speed . one person has been arrested a still head on edge as yet. we turn to

a special envoy to sedan and join me. i live now from washington. nice to be with us. so what do you make of this deal then to to reinstate the prime minister? clearly a lot of people on the streets in sudan are not satisfied with this or they feel that this is a deal with the with, with the military. um that doesn't so resolve their grievances. what's your take on this? well, it's true that the st. protesters have been taking a very maximum list of you ever since the, the military's coup d'etat, 3 weeks ago. they've been saying no negotiation with the military. no cooperation with the military, no compromise with the military. and of course this, this deal announced today does all 3 of those things. and it's a, it's a major compromise on the part of the prime minister and essentially validates what, what's been called bad behavior by this coo,
5:20 am
by acknowledging that the military was able to take this step, that the prime minister was able to change his position, agree to a set of terms imposed on him by the military and retake his job. and so i think that the pros, textures have every right to be concerned about what message this this sends to the country and to the prospects for the democratic transition. when it could be seen that the, the protests that we saw the we've been seeing there of lossy weeks is what forced um, the military into this a position a kind of a 180 if he will. so if protest continue, i could that further about put pressure on the military um to, to change the, the current situation. well, i think the interesting thing now is that the prime minister has essentially associated himself and aligned himself with the military. and so the protest movement up until now has been against the military. i suspect that going forward,
5:21 am
the protest movement could very well be against both the prime minister and the military, who they now see as essentially working in tandem and setting back the prospect of democratic transition in the country. so by, by aligning himself and making this deal, by the way, making the deal in secret with the military. not bringing in any of the protesters, not bringing in any of the political parties to be guarantors or signatories or even have any visibility on this deal. so it's ironic that this has been achieved in the most undemocratic form possible, and yet it's being held up as an important step on the road to a democratic transition. will the proof will it will. i mean, people say, you know that the proof will be in the pudding or so to speak. i it's, it's, it's going to be, um, i interesting to see how this does play out over the next few months. and whether the, the prime minister does make good on this promise to hold elections free and fair
5:22 am
elections within 18 months. yeah, i mean, i think that, you know, this is a very fluid situation. i think we have to recall though in 2019, when the military cleared out protesters in june of 2019 massacring hundreds of people in the streets. they realized at that time that they had overstepped and overplayed their hand. and they ended up negotiating a deal with the international community that saw this transitional government come in. i think, 2 years later, we're seeing the exact same thing. play out again. the military undertook this coo arrested the prime minister, and realised only afterwards that they had overplayed their hand. and if now tried to walk it back by allowing the prime minister to come back in. but we cannot be full by the fact the military has not changed. it is out there to defend itself, and the defendants interests, if it has brought the prime minister back now, it's to save itself and to prolong its time and power. i have fully expect them to
5:23 am
try to continue to undermine this democratic transition and undermine the role of the prime minister. the challenge now is that the prime minister seems to be working in tandem with them, and i think that's what got so many people. so concerned on the streets of cartoon to night. good talk to you, cameron hudson, preciate time. thank you. how to people kidnapped in haiti last month of been released. that's according to christian aid ministries. they were among 17 missionaries from the u. s. in canada, including 5 children, abducted close to the capitol photo prince 5 weeks ago. their names and current location of not been released, but they are apparently safe and in good health. fill a val is in washington. we have learned that to the hostages and haiti were released, we can tell you that they are in good spirits, that being careful, that is it. there are no names. there's no identity, there's no detail of nationalities. and in fact, they're saying that anybody on the ground who does have information, they want to keep that information quiet because obviously there are still
5:24 am
potentially 15 other people who are being held captive. now it's an interesting choice of words here because they have said that these captives have been released . they haven't used the word rescued or freed which implies that the campuses have voluntarily for whatever reason, let them go. and that could be for a number of reasons. it could be down to help grounds, it could be down to a ransom being paid officially. the line from the u. s. is that runs, it will not be paid, but we do know that there are other ways of money making the way to this group. if for example, that is what will happen now, australia has announced its biggest change to foreign travel restrictions is the start of the pandemic. some fully vaccinating students and work visa holders will be able to fly into the country for next month. australia may also welcome vaccinated citizens from south korea and japan. early this month, the countries to most popular states, new south wales and victoria opened their international borders to returning
