the parker has been gauging from the public reaction to the new budget. he sent this report on the town of graves and it is by any stretch of the imagination, a huge economic gamble on the one hand slashing people's taxes. on the other massively ramping up borrowing, but will it all mean, let's people hope that everybody in the united kingdom will have a little bit more money in their pockets to spend on bolstering the economy. or will it simply mean as the opposition maintain, that the rich will get much much richer? the plans include cutting, national insurance corporation tax a tax on buying property, spending tens of billions of dollars on showing up the energy sector so that people's bills that go through the roof. and also controversially on lifting a cap on bank as bonuses. i mean, the town of graves and about 30 kilometers or so from london is neither particularly rich nor particularly deprive, but it could be doing much, much better as got a huge concentration of independent businesses. many of these owners are looking for the economic space to breathe. hopefully it will help because, you know,

this was dominique was bill no one. and now it was an increase of around 600 per cent into b. c. economists say it's unsustainable. a lot of italy diarrhea was throwing bare laura for italy. this coming winter will be the toughest, yet the storm of the energy crisis hit us at the end of 2021. and then with the war with ukraine, things have become far more complicated than is, italy is worse off than other e u countries. as we rely more on imported energy and meaning, it is more vulnerable to the fluctuations of a gas and electricity markets. i wonder why misha? ah, and yet somehow, while walking around, you don't feel how bad things are. the streets here in the city center of naples are busy tourism is booming, is very difficult to find a hotel room, but this isn't indicative of the real economic crisis that is unfolding here, affecting small family run businesses which make up around 90 percent of companies here in italy, which basically means it's affecting everyone at the morning market. the answer is

9:34 pm
i think this is really just showing us what we already know, but it is validating to understand that this is something systemic. and i am excited by the idea that we're starting to consider some of the linguistic implications of discrimination on medicine platforms and tell us why it's important . what are the ramifications of this sort of censorship? well, more palestinians are forced to be in the position of being civilian journalists as the scale of the occupation and palestine is crushing more and more people and more and more parts of their daily life. being able to access platforms where they can broadcast, that kind of news becomes more important than this is the case for people who are living under occupation all over the world. whether it's in, you know, parts of india, whether it's, you know, whatever it is, wherever people are in a position where they don't have access to the same recourse of telling their stories of putting information out about the kinds of abuses they're experiencing. social media is exponentially more important for them. and so what this means to me is that companies like meta are obligated to take this responsibility that they
9:35 pm
have extremely seriously. and i think the most important thing that we can take away from this report today is that it was delayed for a long time. this report was delayed, it was supposed to come out. and the 1st quarter of this year, i believe 6 groups coalition of human rights groups wrote a letter that condemns the delay. and so it really shows that matter has continued to drag its feed and to not make this a priority. when it comes to the responsibility they have in being able to give a platform to people who need to, you know, show what's happening to them. the report, it didn't exactly accuse meta of deliberate bias. did it? it said that staff did not properly understand different cultures. do you agree with that? right, so i think the term the use was unintentional bias and what you know, it's difficult to say what intention is in this case because meta is incredibly non transparent about the nature of its content moderation system. this is the system
9:36 pm
of human and algorithmic actors. that's responsible for flocking and deleting posts that end up getting taken down. and we simply don't know enough about how they work to really know whether this was an intentional or unintentional, technically. but what i would say, and what many palestinian activists in journalists and human rights groups have said repeatedly, is that you know, at some point if you're making the active choice as meta is being such an enormous company with so many resources not to invest and really taking the seriously not just an arabic language to systemically discriminated, and you know, translated in really poor ways over time in other languages as well. that shows where your priorities are. and that shows that you're intending to not take something seriously and attending not to make investments and things that really impacts people's lives and safety. so to me that is intentional. in some ways. do you think that facebook and instagram met to the parents' coverage? is that going to take the steps to try to ensure that this doesn't keep happening?
9:37 pm
you know, i really hope that they do are, you know, independent reviews that have gone on for years. the facebook supreme court, as it's called, the oversight board, has repeatedly called for steps to be taken in this arena. but again, i think the issue is that what continues to happen as a pattern is, but meta will sort of admit, you know, that they did something wrong or that they made some sort of systemic error kind of after the fact when the point is that when the speech is taking place. it needs to be there at the moment that it's taking place because this is a really crucial moment for activists people experiencing human rights abuses. need to be able to, in the moment, show the world what's happening and they need to be able to, for safety and survival reasons, communicate with other people with other activists, with other journalists. and so i do think that facebook, you know, i hope that they continue to take steps, but i hope that next time they, you know, kind of do it before, you know, these can take place lies a candle, really good speak to,
