a couple of organizations only that can actually do this. which also means you can hedge. that means you're bringing probably a lot more intelligence than military to anticipate anything that might happen. and that might need to a much more secure system. hundreds of millions of cubic meters of gas, which were left in the pipelines has been pouring into the baltic sea. the main gas leaking from north stream into the ball to see if me saying this has a much larger impact on global warming down to c o. 2. if the guys it's burn, depending on how much of it is absorbed by sea water, and how much goes up in the air ex, let's say a to do as much damage to the climate as a c o 2 emissions of a middle large city like hills thank you for an entire year. just a few days before the leaks were detected, hundreds of germans held a rally, demanding that the government start operating northridge to like many and europe. germans are struggling to pay their energy bills. after russia got supplies in

a military curve in february 2021. 20 chang has been following developments in bangkok. we have seen charge upon charge, laid against her sentence upon sentence, piling up 23 years her. she's now supposed to serve in jail. some of those sentences carry with them hard labor sentences as well, which will be incredibly difficult for a 77 year old woman. at this stage with the sentences she's looking at shoes and she still has several still to come. she won't get out of jail until she's over a 100 years old. now, i think the, the issue here is, what is the military trying to do here? we've seen them piling up these charges against a clearly they want her out of the picture politically. they know very well that they hold elections as they have done in the past. she will, will win overwhelmingly again. and they want to take her away from that. if elections go ahead next year, as they promised they will, and there is

a for the military, a satisfactory result. they may allow her, some degree of freedom, perhaps house arrest of some sort. but clearly she will never be allowed to return to the political stage while the military in charge. and at this stage, these sentence are sentences are effectively a death sentence. i reckon ian has left a trail of distraction in southwest florida, knocking out power to 2000000 people and trapping many in flat homes. it's sort of strongest harkins to ever hit the united states. it's weakened to a category one stone by the us national higher. can seem to is warning of catastrophic flooding in land. no deaths have been reported, but about 20 people on missing. after birth carrying cuban migrant sank ne, florida. hydro castro has more on the impact of the hurricane. with wind speed topping 250 kilometers per hour. hurricane

this year. and north korean leader, of course, kim joan, a re affirmed recently that it's now enshrined in law that his country north korea is he says, a nuclear armed power. so as they seem very much committed to holding on to their nuclear arsenal, it's interesting that the last very senior us leadership visit to the dmc was back in 2019. that was president donald trump at the time when he famously shook hands with kim jong on a between the blue hot stepped across into the north and stepped back again. the fact that this is very much more of the old fashioned kind of us visit to the dmc, where basically the president or vice president looked into the north. and that said, i think it shows you at the way that relations have slipped back to how they were maybe 5 years ago. really appreciate that. and as always, rubbing bride line for us in. net packaging. south korea, thank you. still had to own al jazeera. ah,

11:19 am
yeah, emily, good morning. that's absolutely right. here in tampa, they really dogs the worst of hurricane and driving in this morning. we saw lots of parts of palm trees down on the ground, bent signs, things of that nature. but this area got out relatively unscathed for many people to the south of here, one to 2 hours from where i'm standing right now. it will be a day of assessing the damage and trying to figure out what's next. the storm roared ashore down south of tampa yesterday afternoon and brought with it extremely high winds. heading northwards of 20250 kilometers per hour and extremely high storm surge in places like naples in fort myers beach. people there are trying to figure out exactly what was damage, what's left, and where they go forward from there. as you mentioned, the storm is still hanging on as a category one, the hurricane. hurricane this morning, as it slowly makes its way eastward and towards the atlantic ocean. so places like

orlando in central florida are expecting anywhere from, from, you know, $20.00 to $30.00 inches of rain in the next several hours. and we're already seeing reports of flash flooding homes being inundated from such a deluge or brain. the governors of georgia, north carolina, south carolina and virginia have already declared states of emergency in their areas, and it's his patient of the heavy rain and tropical conditions that are coming their way. now, at this moment, as we emerge less than 24 hours after the storm hits the state of florida. at this point, there are no reported deaths from this system, but that certainly could change as we figure out exactly what was damaged and what's left behind. emily, here we are seeing some live pictures now of daytona beach, florida, and san a. looks like severe wings and rain there. chris, you mentioned you saw some of the damage on your way in to tampa bay. is there any
11:21 am
idea the extent of the damage elsewhere across florida, or is it too early to town? well, in some places they know because either people were hunkered down in their own places or we've seen video of some of those beaches that were hardest hit. where the storm surge came in, topping one in 2 story buildings. we have video of a fire department in naples, florida. that fire department actually was getting dated by flood waters and the firefighters had to try and salvage whatever equipment they can. so there is some sense of the damage in the places they did see that immediate storm surge during daylight hours, but we expect that people are going to discover a lot more damage as the sun starts to come out to that date. all right, well we really appreciate the update and be safe, crisp alone joining us live from tampa bank. thank. alright,

he is al jazeera weather presented jeff harrington and jeff, what more can we expect from harmony and, well, you know, 1st of all, emily, this was the 5th, is strongest storm ever to strike the mainland us. so it has dealt a devastating punch to southwest florida. let's talk about how exactly this happened. give you a play by play right now. so look at the, i mean landfall just to the south of tampa in cale costa on wednesday afternoon. and when it made that landfall, those winds were sustained at 250 kilometers per hour. had that been 250 to 253. that would have been a cat 5, but really 2 or 3 kilometer per hour when it's negligible, all of this was catastrophic. and we had about 5 meter high storm sewers. so when you get those winds, it literally picks up the ocean and shoves it further inland. so i wanted to give you an example. this is a storm search in action. this is time. lots video of about an hour. look at this road just under water and see some of the homes in the background there. that is
11:23 am
the 5 metre high storm search that we were dealing with. ok, let's talk about where it is right now. we've talked about how powerful the wind has been. the storm surge but rain also a concern is wall. so i think north of orlando, about half a meter of rain or half a years worth of rain over the next 24 hours in. we'll then move out to the atlantic. we can into a tropical storm, so that says we head toward friday, watch what happens over the course of the weekends of friday into saturday. moves back in land, probably tropical cyclone at this point long. that border with georgia and south carolina. but this is going to bring some torrential rain there as well. so emily, all of that to say that over the next little bit, all eyes on hurricane it has just been pure devastation. yeah, well we really appreciate you breaking down for us jeff harrington, just there is where the present to the living on it now. and a runs president abraham racy, says the death of masa and mania has saddened to every one but worn to chaos. won't

believe that a longer gen system would solve anything, even worse, he would create more problems. so, so the, the ultimate solution was under haitian people themselves to choose their own leader. rather than to have another put route of political meetings and political deals and back door meetings in order to put a longer transition that will sub absolutely nothing. and the people, not one that the people want to put, you know, a leg that when president and go to the polls. and, and of course they want to do that in peace and security. and this is why it's important that security be restored, that the gangs be put out of out of business and security in order be restored, gangsters, paradise rappa, cooley. i'm has died at the age of 15. her with money, obama got my pay and in my, in an agreement by connie and his legal name was.
