1:02 pm
we stop this news out in pakistan where the section commission has disqualified former prime minister emron can from running for office. the commission says con is guilty of unlawfully selling state gifts received from heads of state and foreign dignitaries. cans aid says they will challenge the ruling of a case against the former leader was filed in august. will it speak now to come out harder? who's in the margin and swat valley? and obviously this is a hugely significant development canal. this again, given the fact that enron on the form of prime minister of august on one a landslide directory and by elections just recently, he is still come on for menda. busy support across the country. this particular case of gods is seen as controversial, given the fact that the legal fraternity,
1:03 pm
particularly the former prime minister, said the judge it up when you're typically motivated. that is of god's a caveat within the budget on the rules. because all the gifts received by the head of state or senior minister in by august on can be bought back initially. it was the rule that you had debate, brenda 5 percent of the price m. ron had raised that to 50 percent. and of course, the opposition saying that they were here today, your ladder keys. the legal team also thing that can not be disqualified by the election commission of august on which does not have the jurisdiction of a court appointed legal team of gotten immediately are going to go to the output court. the supreme court or the la di court, where they will challenge it, saying that the election commission does not have the mandate or disqualify anyone that did the jurisdiction of the court. and this of god just coming

a dime of great political instability within budget on because enron khan had threatened, did support. dad will march on islam abroad, late fees, or the gap is in order for his demands to be accepted. so a dramatic development indeed. and it is going to be a reaction the reaction of got the re did to party leaders. i've got really announced possibly projects across the country and it's supported that are also going to come out in large numbers to win durango. so indeed crucial development. but that also come from the election commission and the argument being that this is a political, ren delta de ruling opposition alliance has been trying to implicate them. and one case that if i order not that it is of god, the contempt of god gates in which he was clear, david had go. so i slapped debtors m charges against him. he was glad of dad also. but there was an expectation that the election commissioner, who am ron cons bar

d and m, ron hahn deform a prime minister phase age playing along to the gallery of the opposition that didn't go to read them. for indeed, huge developments. as far as focused on is concerned and this of god's will have grave implications for august on political instability is read. thank you very much . that's come out hot for us and swat felling on the head. tara is and also and columnist, she's in law and joins us now. thank you very much for being on this new. so we had the, the term, this is a traumatic development. can you just give us a sense of how significant this is? thank you so much for having me on your show. up on this one is that people are focused on our concern. this development is not significant or shopping at all on a, something like this would be expected in the process of what was happening. been around in the last few months since he was since he was asked. and which meant by anybody
1:06 pm
is on the c as a, as a, you know, civil cool. there was no real. there was no real justification given from what had what had happened. and why, why he was been why he was being thrown off his position. i mean, prime ministers do change everywhere. i remember you can just change another, another prime minister. that's not really a shocking thing, especially in pakistan. why? what is significant to understand is that this is what, what happens to any and every prime minister in pakistan since since inception of but i'm not, no prime minister has ever been allowed to finish finish. that made the 1st final yakobelli kind wasn't of either. i don't finish that or by, i mean i did a bit try to do like what happens a lot, but what happened? well, being a very prime minister is despite in my,
1:07 pm
on one peek at the other. now what happened in, in april was that a, this collision of opposition parties believed, but they were actually working on the assumption that they had that they had been propagating for the last, for the last in since 2018 and came into power that iran had not had not come in to follow on the basis of popular war. and rather he was, he was the establishment proxy for the stablish print net and that had enabled him on the emergence as a prime minister focused on as simplistic as it may sound. they actually believed that they said that is how it's going to be like a man is going to be out there. then they just take it a, make some speeches, he'll have some valleys then, and they'll keep on going whatever. what again,
1:08 pm
most analysts, what would happen then this new government would come in, not because in non con was a bad prime minister. and he should have been out there. but because they had to do certain things before the next election scheme and on getting rid of all the cases, broken option cases against them, getting them names of exit control list and electrical rules. nominated nominating the new chief of army staff in november, which is next month and so on and so forth. it was, everybody could see that. and that is why they're miscalculation about iran alleged unpopularity that nobody wanted for him. that focused on you did not. what claimant do you think backfired completely and like the gentleman was just saying that each case proposed their party was unpopular and nobody would support him after the backfire. that was a huge miscalculation. i don't know how they came to that conclusion. and then
1:09 pm
by there they tried to hook up and you're not. they tried to make as many cases against him as possible, but it was about if you have like a videos that would but that would incriminate in the public and a people would be, will be, scandal i. and then the, the terrorism gave them, there was but then there was a contempt of course is denver few weeks ago and it also started a blast. so he left for me campaign against him that iran. com whole i don't, i'm really glad that anybody said, look, you know? yeah, that was like, obviously really just the doesn't back assign. he keep pd he wanted, he wanted his gum li to we had replica of the re, acetone. medina, here with what she and sorry to interrupt you there. we've been watching a pictures of some of his realm that he's been holding over the previous months and

a spokesperson for candace, calling people to take to the streets to toppled this parliament. what do you think is going to happen from here? are we going to see a ground swell of clashes, of violence due? thank lie. i don't think so. i don't think b, b, b a by. you see clashes only and peaceful protest as i start from protesting. if i look at what happened in america a couple of years ago when the me to walk, been started and black lives matter movement, movement was seen and the but there, they had to go resonant simply because they were all peaceful movements. now, yes, people will be very angry, as i said, if you were to talk to somebody in barkus, died in march in rancor government was not very popular because of it if an army policies and because of their basically because of the inflation b, a diet of the nation so, so they often him on the char, on the allegation that,
1:11 pm
you know, he's here business governed by pakistan and, and b, but can't afford to even eat by 3 meters a day. and look at what has happened in pakistan in the last 2 months, everything and everything has worsened. and the fact that people have on it, i would say they, i'm expecting a phenomenon for us. those who, you know, those, those who grew up in the eighty's and those i was a child with a photo and then and then hand. and we will even as a child, i remember the hope that there would be by there would be a full of books who was to lead the 4th walker to leader this issue of classes that never happened. so what i'm saying is that i'm to lead to their expectations in ron con, has emma has probably a much as a national leader is that this is not that trig. he's the sole national need right
1:12 pm
now. he's the only damage representation in on, on provinces, and yes, if he's, if he's disqualified and if he's not allowed to run in the election, that will be by national, by nationwide pro. and they will only become violent if the other side is the government tries to law tries to, but you know, okay, we will not, it will be keeping a very close eye on. now what happens next? thank you so much for your time and you're inside. that's mere tara in law for us. thank you. well, the united kingdom is expected to have a new prime minister within a week. it's 3rd leader this year. let's after less trust resigned on thursday. she lost a just 44 days in the job, the shortest serving leader in british history, and do some reports from london. this cross was the prime minister of broken promises. she calls the new milltown of the markets, nearly all her own funded plans with tax cuts were reversed. now she's out the

shortest serving prime minister in u. k. history. i cannot deliver the mandate on which i was elected by the conservative party. i therefore slaten to his majesty the king to notify him the i am resigning as leader of the conservative party who's doing started last friday. she'd sector finance minister closet courting, but blaming him for getting it wrong had no effect on the markets. the pound wasn't recovering and the cost of government borrowing was still going up to say a nervous trust walked out on questioning on you're going to say, well, you primarily in came political, heavyweight jeremy hunt as new chancellor, trashing virtually all of the trust plans, saving billions of dollars and calming the markets, he cannot make credibility. ah, the next day she was confronted by opposition. labor leader. kiss darma. for the
1:14 pm
1st time she seemed to be defiant. i am a fighter and not 24 hours later she was told to quit know the conservative party is engulfed in leadership elections again. and those in charge say they'll have to be quick. i think we are deeply conscious all the imperative of the national interest or resolving this. clearly angry contenders include former chancellor richie sooner, but they're still anger in the party over his part in bringing down boys. johnson and johnson does look like trying to make a comeback. his ally say it will be in the national interest any more than the river house of commons may be a good unity candidates, but may not have enough experience to convince the party. and as the country is facing a change of prime minister for the 3rd time in 3 months, the opposition is calling for a general election. we can't have a revolving door of tails. we can't have another experiment at the top of the tory

party, but is an alternative, and that's a stable labor government. and the public are entitled to have their say, the conservative party is split, it's damage and it's still shaken by what's happened. the last thing it needs right now is a general election opinion polls show it would be decimated. andrew simmons alger 0 downing street. well for more on this pull race, joins us now from london. and, well, there's plenty of talk that boris johnson could be back. could he really well indeed, it would be an extraordinary come back in recall to time but may be wrong. no entirely unforeseen, even by maurice johnson himself. the headline on the front page of the some news pipe at the day. a bo joe, i'll be back kind of echoing his final words to parliament just 6 weeks or so ago
1:16 pm
when he left the office, when he told parliament, hast at lavell that baby at see you later, i have a quote from the at terminator to film, starring arnold schwartzenegger, not what we know so far. oh, appears to be the case is that johnson is flying back from a holiday in the caribbean. he's gathering support as he's gathering donors for a campaign run by the same saying that helped went in the 2019 general election. there's a, there's a whatsapp group around the back boris campaign. he seems to have around about 40 and pays in support of him. so far, it doesn't need to reach the threshold of a 100 m pays. if he's going to stand in this ballot. now there is a ongoing investigation into forest johnson. and about over allegations he lied to parliament over parties held during locked down. given his shots part of the past, that's unlikely it's puts him off and then even those who don't like him in his
1:17 pm
pods he and there are many of them, may be swayed by the fact that he does seem to be an electoral asset. he's got a sort of old, well, they aristocratic air about him, but with what used to be called the common touch. essentially he appeals to working class voters, even though he's one of the privileged ellen elite. and that helps him to break down the so called red wall of traditional labor seats in the 2019 general election . so the party will be divided over whether they want him. there will be a lot of soul searching in the coming days over whether they try to help or get johnson over this line over a 100 and peas and support them if his to go into the final ballot against possibly richie sooner or penny morton's. be fascinating. to see if he can reach that threshold. thank you very much. that is pulver is for us in london. let's take
1:18 pm
a closer look at trusses other possible replacements. first this richie soon ack, who lost to her in july as leadership contest. so neck was chancellor embarrass johnson's government and support her see him as a safe option. and he correctly forecasts the problems trust as economic policies would cause more. penny moreland is another contender. she's the leader of the house of commons and came 3rd in july's contest. she's a strong performer in parliament, but lacks experience and top ministerial roles. and so l abraham and could be a candidate. she resigned as home sick, a tree on wednesday. and then there's the man who succeeded her grant shapes he back soon. egg in the last leadership rice will. simon asherwood is a professor of politics and international studies at the open university. he joins us live from guilford in the u. k. thank you so much for being on the program. first of all, love reading through that list, who do you predict or is likely to take over? and i really, any of them suitable to become the next prime minister. why thing that's the, the,
1:19 pm
the major questions that none of them look like the, the magical kinds that he can produce, party unity and regain procedure amounts of ground. that's been lost in the opinion polls. so i think holds the people who are that richie. so not it does look like the leading candidates, i think he's been strengthened by looking more moderates than trust. and now his predictions about trust is economic policies. certainly being borne out by the experience that we've seen over the last month. but, you know, again, he's his reputation with party members. i think his still some wants precarious. you know, he was, seems have been one of the 1st to remove us johnson. so this stage, i think the party faces a very difficult choice and you know, none of the options look,
1:20 pm
particularly good evening russia. so knock is probably the least worst of the bunch . and what about barbara johnson? do you think he can really make it come back? do you think he'll be able to get the numbers while suddenly he's going to try? i think, you know, if he thinks that he can get through to the final balance. if can get through m p 's, then he will definitely go for it because i think he would rightly think that he's popular enough with party members to today. but so right of way back into number 10 . the problem though is the same piece. i think the memories are still very fresh, all this spring and summer of all the difficulties the scandals. the problems that johnson generated during his time as leader. and let's not forget, we had a record number of ministerial resignations, 50 or more to remove him from office. so i think those people are
1:21 pm
going to fight teeth and now it's a stockton. and indeed, that's one of the reasons we have this very high barrier steam candidate requiring a 100 m p 's to support you, is precisely to try and stop johnson even getting there in the 1st place. so whilst he's done well with some initial momentum and just you know, a small group of m p 's been very vocal about him. it's hard to see how he can broaden his supports enough to get through that 100 barrier. especially if there is an ongoing investigation against them. the conservatives are obviously going to do everything to ensure that that doesn't happen. but what chance do you give of their being a general election called anytime soon? i think the chances that remain very small, the party is doing so badly in the polls. you know, we, every day we seem to have a new paul that is a historic life that the party would be in. i like
1:22 pm
to ready by going to country at this stage, whoever needs them. so i think the new prime ministers don't come in. we'll seek to try and repair the damage of the trust administration and more general kind of belief in the governments. and you know, we're looking at at least 6 months, if not more, like a year or a year and a half before we get the poll. so as much as there is a lot of discontent and concern about the way the policy changes leaders and by extension changes. prime ministers, that's not going to be enough to force the party to return to voters because i think they fear what they will be told. okay, we'll have to leave it there. thank you so much. that is, simon, i sure would in the you k for us. thank you. ok. well, the us military train is from iran or in crimea,
1:23 pm
helping russian troops use iranian, made drones to an attack on ukraine. washington believes iranian trans hit, the capital cave and energy facilities across the country, around has not reacted to the latest us accusations, but denies the drones. iranian made, we can confirm that russian military personnel based in crimea have been piloted, piling, piloting, excuse me. around in you a using using and conduct kinetic strikes across your ukraine, including and strikes against unreason dates. we assess that iranian personnel running and military personnel were on the ground in crimea, and assisted russia in the us. opperation. russia has received dozens of these u. a b so far and will likely continue to receive additional shipments in the future or will speak to mohammed fall and moscow in a moment. but 1st let's go to him. huh. jim june. and keith and mohammed,
1:24 pm
what the reaction been there when it comes to any iranian involvement with these drones? well, time there was a statement that was issued earlier today by the general staff of the armed forces of ukraine. that statement read in part that the russian federation is transporting iranian instructors to prepare and train drone operators to utilize the show heed 136, and the roster. and those are the drones that are known more commonly these days as kamikaze, drones here in ukraine, against the ukrainian forces. it's interesting that this statement did not go into detail as far as where this is happening because there have been reports over the course of the past week in ukrainian media outlets. which have stated that there are, according to their sources, iranian instructors personnel in crimea,
1:25 pm
and that they are helping to train the russian forces to utilize those kamikaze drones against ukrainian targets throughout this country. this is all coming at a time when the ukrainian officials at all levels of government have been, have been echoing the fact that they are very concerned about all this. and they have been accusing very publicly iran of equipping russian fighters with these kamikaze drones. of course, we should mention that iran has repeatedly denied that they are helping russia in their efforts in ukraine or that they are delivering these drones to the russian forces. we have also heard in the past few days from the ukrainian foreign minister . he said that he was submitting a proposal to ukrainian president below the mercy lensky, to formally cut diplomatic ties with iran batch. as a result of these accusations from ukrainian officials that the iranians have been delivering these comma coffee drones to,
1:26 pm
to the russian federation. and i should mention that there have been numerous drone strikes over the course of the past week in many parts of this country. drone strikes that have been targeting critical infrastructure, especially power plants. and that's one of the reasons people are so concerned right now. because at a time with temperatures are dropping precipitously and winter is fast approaching . people are really worried that they are going to be without power. in fact, the government has said repeatedly, over the course of the past few days, that people should prepare themselves for perhaps ruling power outages and they are desperately asking people to try as best they can to conserve on the consumption of energy. all being said, though, tom, once again, the iranians have repeatedly denied that they are supplying the russians with any of these drones that are being utilized to attack facilities across ukraine. thanks very much, this mohammed jim june for us and keep from rolling this. we're going to speak to mohammed val and moscow, and mm hm. it has the kremlin spoken out about any of these accusations.
1:27 pm
tom, not today, not about these latest statements from the white house, but on tuesday, the company in spokesman demetrius best cause he commented on this, saying that we don't have information or specific information about these so called uranium drones being purchased by russia and used in the front line, this should be, this question should be addressed to the minister of defense, but he said he knows that russia is using its own weapons with its own norman clutches on those weapons. that by the way, these drones have a russian name when they meet to get on which in the rush language meas, flower interestingly are also on thursday, the spokeswoman of the ministry of foreign affairs maria. she also commented on this and she said these obligations and accusations about these in, in drones are basically, i knew drones are just conjectures,
1:28 pm
not based on any facts. and she said that they don't even deserve any response from russia. said these are things that have to do with the problem between iran and the west related to the nuclear file. these are precious. this are just precious from the west on iraq to to get concessions from from tehran about the nuclear file. and they don't have anything to do with rush. okay, thank you so much. this mohammed val and moscow for us. will it spring in hon, or shall, as to is director of security programs at the foreign policy council, ukrainian prism. she joins us live from brigitte in latvia. thank you so much for being on this news. our, now the us seems certain iran as involved as does ukraine around denies the drones of is so from what you've seen and heard, what do you think? no, definitely. they are iranian made. jones, the statement of the russian federation that because it is the russian name or need
1:29 pm
to, it is not iranian made. it is definitely absolutely childish, if not arrogant. are because if a boot at the mercer, they're so bad, it is a vulgar, it doesn't become vulgar. 8 is still merciless, made till the same as the weapons and considering how many of them over to be intercepted by the ukranian armed forces. it is very easily to check what is inside, where it is made. not speaking about the whole history before these, we know about the negotiations that have been taken between to iran and moscow about military supply. we know about delegation that been dear. they were not hiding about these, we know about the number of the military, our flights cargo flights traveling one months ago from or are you ran to russia. and there are plenty of other evidences, even just yesterday on the russian t v. this one of the, of the person involved with the russian military. ah, when he saw that he is the microphone switched. all he asked the anchors. please
1:30 pm
don't ask about these iranians rhonda. we all know from where they are, but we don't want to speak about these till all of this evidence is her coming and definite. and now it is like a game from the russian embassy. if police are that they are trying to show, like, please prove that it is us and that is that iranians, but that's like me, food that it is, russian armed forces are at afraid and territory. it appears that these drones are making a significant difference. we've seen massive impact on some of the power infrastructure for example. um do you think that they could change the dynamic of the war? no, in terms of the dynamic of the war for sure and not because as you are correct, you said they up to dominant to charging this via an infrastructure. so they are trying to bring the fear and terror to the civilians, not to the military on the grounds where the russians are a lot of the same opposition. are what we afraid. bad said now there were one way for mission coming that iran cam sale love the nice house to the russian federation
1:31 pm
. that is definitely much more dangerous. but in terms of the george the asthma, now we know that probably approximately to thousands of them came. few hundreds already be abused against who craves and with the each new od ukrainian, the air, it's fancy, is learning how to deal with that in some of the regions like, you know, my odessa, we always have suggested that 5 out of 7 i intercepted in some other regions, sir, the air defense is learning how to deal. they are problematic. that's with sure, both in terms of the power and some technical characteristics, but at the same time they are not so sophisticated not to find a d, a ways to counter that. okay, thank you so much a for your inside that is hon nationalist for us from reagan latvia. hello, you ladies holding another round of talks and brussels to solve an energy crisis driven by the war and ukraine. it's the 2nd summit and as many weak, one of the sticking points continues to be a cap on gas prices. but there could be
1:32 pm
a breakthrough with the financial times reporting the german chancellor has dropped his opposition to the proposal. the cost of energy has surged as europe tries to cut dependents on russian supplies, which on the holiday live for us from brussels and joe had met the had they made any progress and dealing with the energy crisis there today. germany, i think my cellphone dates opposition to a price cap and certainly hasn't dropped its opposition all together. they have resolved to carry on talking and probably to meet again in an emergency summit next month. it's classic e, you council summit stuff really many, many hours yesterday of 10 negotiation among the leaders hints of agreement hints of a possible deal. and then to a m, they came out with what they described as a deal. but of course, it was really just an agreement to keep on talking within agreed parameters,

trying to find ways to bring down the price of gas. now, 300 percent higher than it was at the beginning of the year before the war. and you trade and worries across the block of higher inflation and the threat of recession . so what are they talking about? what would they continue to be talking about with 2 particular mechanisms to try and contain the price of gas? a new mechanism for you, gas companies, is $1.00 to club together into a buyer's cartel or 27. in other words, acting as one, with all of that cloud to try and demand low prices on the energy market. it worked well for the e. u. in acquiring vaccines through the, during the pandemic that maybe looking to mirror something like that. and then the more contentious issue, the potential price cap, a temporary emergency priced cap on the benchmark. you gas trading hub, thats the dutch t s f. essentially your it would be agreeing simply not to trade gas above a certain price prompts in favor of that along with some southern european
