6:03 pm
the earthquake jumped at the indonesian capital around a 100 kilometers from the epi center. evacuation orders were issued for thousands of people in jakarta, central business district. witnesses report seeing some high rise buildings swing for several minutes and no one. mm. i got somebody aguilar, it was so strong as if someone had pushed me indonesia is prone to natural disasters. it sits on the ring of fire and uncle volcanoes and full lines. in the pacific basin authorities are urging people to remain vigilant for possible aftershocks. jessica washington out 0 chicata. well, it's find out more about why the sooth quite caused so much damage. denny humans, the earthquake research program leader at indonesia is national research and innovation agency. he is in wisc java. thank you so much for joining us on this news. our now obviously we know you can't predict earthquakes, but was there any warning at all? was there any recent seismic activity that lodge earthquake was eminence?
6:04 pm
no, not in the other. okay, so not the else. yeah. i love a quick around the major, but i'm not mia, her gender. and had there been any activity on this particular felt line? yeah. did occur on the fall. it has not been math before. it's nothing major. it has to be now. it's about the amount of the ball but bottom line that it's ok was only can kill him his day. can you explain why that makes an earthquake more severe yeah. occurred on every hour and i think
6:05 pm
a lot of stuff and also some less like that be good. might be better costs also a lot more houses and also we also go to this car on the roads, europe with java. what did it feel like? well i know about the americans away from the big, big, big i didn't, he didn't feel it at all. yeah. my people getting by noon about those from b as big as they say that they can still feel good about doing that. there's a way i did it. can you just explain
6:06 pm
a little bit about the infrastructure and the buildings in that region? are they built it all to be resilient to with quite some in the much seismic strengthening no model of the houses. it hasn't yet to receive the best cream. so it's a goodly, most often a thing. that's why the law damage to the houses. but also the hotline. it's very close today populated ira i think it is been saw him on his bike one say ok. thank you. so much food for that. any others? any hillman from the earthquake research program leda at indonesia, national research and innovation agency. thank you. thank you for tick. he is president says he is considering launching a ground military operation in northern syria. it comes off to several rockets
6:07 pm
struck the district of commie and southern turkey. 3 people were killed including a child. no one has claimed responsibility anchor. it blames the kurdish y p g fighters of the attack and ticket comes a day after it launched is strikes in northern syria and iraq. the turkish defense ministry says it was targeting kurdish armed groups. that anchor holds responsible for a bomb attack and is stan bull earlier this month. and we'll planes attacked bases of the out mold, could astound work as party, or the p k, k, and y, p g fight is will lead spring in wrestle certain as it took us through the current escalation. can you just give us a bit of an idea of why this is happening now and in the escalation here? well, it's just less than 8 months to the election and it's according to the pause is going to be an act neck race between the government and the opposition. and definitely it's a golden time for many of the groups or so that like to see
6:08 pm
a kind of instability in the country. so a did the turkey's operation, a gas y, p g, particularly dates back to 2016 in 2016 right of that. the crew attempt in turkey. we have seen that turkey are conducted a massive military cushion into our syria, which was called operation. you feed a shield and it cleared the ice is presence or cause it alongside a turkish border down to it live. it was the 1st massive military incursion. and then in 2018, the olive branch was olive, or present olive branch was conducted by turkish army. but this time against y p g, around afrin, which was one of the strong hold off y p g and is historically occurred. the city over there and turkish forces, backed by the, by the city rebels or the city and a free army. they took over control of a fin. however, they could not manage to get in touch referred, which was one of the aim of that had the operation. and then in 2019,
6:09 pm
the toured military incursion of self turkey has happened. a close to rustling which we can see over there. and it was a huge source of huge tension between the usa and tricky because by that time you are see had a strong military presence over there. but damn deer, the air there, the trump administration decided to withdrew his forces from the area to lead the turkish army to get in debt. otherwise, it was made before the 1st time in history that there was a possibility of a direct engagement between arm, though confrontation between church and the. yeah. do you ass seeds on forces? now? turkey is aiming by this because the prisoner law said that they probably are going to conduct another land which is in your precious interest area. and they're aiming to take over at 10 of the fat and member to these areas are quite important for y, p g because they are,
6:10 pm
these are being lost strongholds at the eastern or if you freight, but for turkey also, if they can manage to the quote all over terrified and members, it means that clearing the whole y, p g forces at the east, off you, you for it. and that is a strategic goal for turkey. so now this is, this is simply what's happening on the, on the ground. however, in membership, there are presence off the russian forces as well, even though is not significant and american forces as well alongside the y p g. so that could probably increase attention between the 2 largest nato allies, turkey and your ass missile. so to thank you very much for breaking that down for us. we'll iran has launched more strikes against kurdish opposition. groups in northern iraq to run accuses them of stocking unrest and iran were protests are ongoing after the death of mercer and many in police custody. it's the 2nd such attack in week the number of casualties is unknown.

was human rights watches urging the home nations of children unlawfully held in syrian detention camps to bring them home and give them a new chance at life. more than 20000 foreign miners from 60 countries, the cat children of isolate suspects are being held with their mothers in to camps . human rights watch says the conditions as so bad. they may amounts to torture. a report by the organization found that most of the 1500 children have been welcome back to their home countries and are doing well despite their ordeals. without being able to re integrate with their peers and excel at school, but many a traumatized and need psychological support, which are bigger is the director of children's rights advocacy at human rights watch. she is live with us in new york now
6:12 pm
quickly. so joe, for those lucky enough to get out the children like enough to get out, it seems like they can reintegrate relative relatively successfully. what do you think the key is to making sure that happens? yes, over the last year we have research the experiences of about a 100 children that have been repatriated from the camps and ne, syria to 7 countries across western europe and central asia. and we have found that despite the suffering in the camps, many of these children do remarkably well. they're in school summer at the top of their class. they're making friends, they're engaging in typical childhood activities like football cycling, and going to the zoo. and i think some of the keys to success are countries that have multi disciplinary teams of educators, social workers, psychologist to provide children with support. and children do best when they're
6:13 pm
with a family environment. so for example, if they've been able to stay with their mother who's been repatriated with them or if they're with extended family. so in many countries, for example, there are grandparents that are eager and willing to care for children and really do their best to help these children thrive. many countries have been reluctant to accept the return of these children. there are thousands and thousands of children in the camps, but over the last 3 years, governments have only accepted back 1500. there are some countries that are good examples. so, so for example, finland, germany, central asian countries like was becca stan, kazakhstan, russia, the united states have accepted many or even most of their nationals. and we've also seen an acceleration in repatriation recently by australia, france,
6:14 pm
and the netherlands. but there are other countries that have dozens, or even hundreds of children still in the camps that need to be repatriated as soon as possible. can we just broken sir? your cables? can we just talk about the children that are still in those camps? you know, i think there are 25000 still there's what, what is the hope to actually getting them out? yeah. so our, our figures are that there are about $40000.00 foreign nationals, mostly women and children in the camps. this is al hole and raj, the majority are from iraq. but there are approximately 10000 women and children from 60 other countries that are remaining in the camps. on the conditions in the camps are deteriorating by the day. hundreds of children have died from preventable diseases, from malnutrition, from hypothermia. violence has been escalating,
6:15 pm
as isis has become more active. isis is targeting children for recruitment in the camps. and it's our firm belief that the greatest danger is not bringing these children home. it's leaving them in the camps where they faced these life threatening conditions. they're missing out ye on years of education. there's no formal education in the camps. and, you know, the, the dangers are great. so you know, our, our evidence is that many of these children are doing well and countries really need to accelerate their repeat creations and allowing children to come back home. and you spoke of some countries such as finland that are doing a good job in a number of countries clearly. and what is the biggest barrier, what, what's stopping these countries from, from and from doing more, as a logistics thing, as a political it's largely political. many politicians
6:16 pm
believe that accepting their nationals back as a security risk in their home country. and for example, canada has dozens of children who remain in the camps. the u. k also has at least 30 children in the camps. they've accepted only tan back so far. um, but as i said, are you know, our experience is that many of these children are doing well if you can remove them from the camp environment, put them in a loving family home in their home country. you know, really what they want to do is they just want to go to school and play and, you know, have a good family life and, and make friends like many other children. yeah, thank you so much for your time into and you're inside. that's job. big f at the director of children's rights advocacy at human rights watch. thank you. thank you . but there's plenty more a hit on this news hour, including china reports the 1st deaths from covered 19 and 6 months.
6:17 pm
ah, well, it's good to today's action from the world cup and england have just recorded a big win over iran and the opening game of their group. english school 3 goes in the 1st half to take control of culture stadium and added 3 more after the break. it's just finished 6 to the pool. brennan has been watching that game with many fan sir. no doubt, very excited in london or a pool. england could have wished for a bit of start her for the stoneman could they? i mean, why did you use paper in the this week? run the data for the computer case manager a is pretty impressive with traditional

a pretty impressive now we're going to speak to some plans here immediately because this wasn't just a sporting event that was a political overtones. a couple of people read a know you're wearing in england. i keep on going to be honest, a why i'm living in the community. i need to tell you, i have to respect people. i talked about iran's performance today, but it was terrible. i was the reason it gives me a,

the year i bought, i think, i think every team has like a child. obviously they're a favorite for sale, argentina, england, germany, netherland, spain. we'll see what happens, but you know, under dogs can when i'm just happy that indian they got that players on they want to talk to down the road about my pay card football and i'm happy for they've. i would as much as i'm happy to see us play and iran. i'm happy that we won a together i. i didn't thank you so much for looks like the celebrations will continue long into the night. thank you. will cynical play the netherlands light her own without this

6:25 pm
and unconstitutional. last year, summa was sentenced to 15 months for refusing to testify before a corruption inquiry. the 80 year old was released on medical parole after serving 2 months for me to mila reports from johannesburg. the supreme court of appeal has made it clear that former prisoner jacob zoom was released on medical parole was unlawful. there remains a number of questions around exactly what happens next. the supreme court has also said that while it has said to that medical parole is unlawful, it is up to correctional services. the commissioner specifically to determine whether or not the time that the former president spent out of prison on that medical role count towards his sentence. so it's not clear whether not the former president will immediately return to prison. and also they all chances that he does have a number of a legal options on hand in terms of trying to challenge that latest judgment,
6:26 pm
that latest order by the supreme court of appeal one option is that he may be able to go to the constitutional court and if that's the case, he would have up to 2 months potentially, to try and challenge that. our latest judgment a, by the courts indic him back to prison. not one of the issues that is concerning is that when he was released from prison on medical parole, it was our by the former commissioner who is known to be an ally of the former president and are reportedly went against the advice of the medical parole board or the parole board specifically and unilaterally essentially decided that the former president should be released. but also the point that has been noted is that the former president himself didn't request that miracle parole. so he may use that in his arguments in terms of having to return to prison and ho and holding correctional services, specifically accountable for the error it made in releasing him. they are
6:27 pm
a number of illegal issues at hand. a number of contradictory information that has come out in terms of what may happen next. so certainly it's not clear when and if all, for how long the former president may have to return to prison. the china is battling a surgeon covered 19 infections. it's reported 3 deaths the 1st and 6 months. a 5 day lockdown has been imposed and parts of is wrong. jo. a city of 19000000 people schools are being shot across beijing. was still a head on al jazeera. we will have all the world's cup news. i'm an e, richie, and live at all. well, come to the studio here on 1000 waterfront. we'll have all the reaction for you shortly. falling aden lynn's big when of iran. ah.

hello, i'm. i'm b. richardson. welcome to algae terrace. well, cut studio on dough halls of water from the action. well underway on day 2 of the tournament now. and the last off our england might have very strong style to that account back to the 6 to victory harbor iran action on the way african highest rank themes, technical open that so much against the netherlands, but will the absence of saturday morning that chances that game gets under way shortly, will be live at alpha mama stadium for the late fift ahead of kickoff. and wales will make their 1st wealth cover parents in 64 years. but can they pull a win out of that giant bucket? have against the usa? ah, joining me the shoot over to show we have jamie slat and one or anger. we'll get our thoughts very shortly. but let's get to the action from the opening game of the day, england against iran in great be finished just a few minutes ago. let's take
6:32 pm
a look at some of the goals england in dominant form because seca, i'm getting a bit too, but it was such a bellingham with the 1st goal he thought and from corner the cliff stating during 14 minutes, if 1st of injury on harry came provided an assist for rahim sterling to make it 3 now in the 2nd half 2nd, double this tale, the english went full ahead, a ran pulled a callback for a strike that he cher amy storing that one. marcus rochefort came on as a sub and scored within seconds to make it 5 on henry kane. with another assistant, jack greenish completed the scoring for england, iran's to re me did double his tally with a penalty later on. but he finished seeks to well on the ground for is it the caliph international stadium is sir peter stem? it's pizza, i guess being and fans can't quite believe what they've seen down there. while it
6:33 pm
was a wonderful occasion, if you're in england fan, danny. and as you can imagine, at the final whistle that old famous, or perhaps over used song, sweet carolina was making it a voice heard and making its appearance here at the ground, 6 to an emphatic victory for england. and they will be thinking of themselves as world cap containers as they should have done. anyway, coming into the tournament, england are always one of the teams that gets spoken of as being there all there about just a warning though, for those fans who might just be feeding a little bit more optimistic. there is a history of teens winning big and not actually going on to win the tournament. argentina put 6 post serbia and montenegro as they were known in 2006 and portugal beat north korea by so going 7 goals in 2010 and it didn't really get much better for them from that point onwards. pizza, your thoughts on a ran they were they were fancy to do well in this group, but sadly,
6:34 pm
looks off the pace in this gang. they really did. and you know what, andy, in many cases, football is about timing and spaces on it. and the english players, they all look as if they just had so much more time on the ball compared to li, iranians. they created space so much easier than what the iranians were able to do . the iranians were, were found out in many cases as well as obviously, as i told by the school line. and that, you know, it's funny that we were saying earlier in the day that within asian football, iran is one of the bigger teams. it's one of the power houses in terms of continental football, but in terms of the global stage, they haven't really been able to translate that success. so winning the asian cup is one thing. being successful in the asian cup is one thing. but being able to do it at the world cup is another thing. and right now iran are certainly staring down the barrel pizza. thank you for now or let's bring in jamie, i meaning i'm came in to this woke up with my wins in 6 games. i think we're all
6:35 pm
quite surprised by just how well they perform today. yeah. and it was a comfortable guin. i don't know if we can jump into many conclusions because of florida. there were some misfortune for iran, for that injury of the goalkeeper at the very beginning and not it when he is he at some point for england. but of course it gives sir, got it. so wait some time and peace of mind which is very important in a woke up. i would like to highlight to bellingham. he was one of my favorites to with the golden boy of this 3rd tournament. and probably if there wasn't a player called gabby, he would have been the youngest player for of, for these. so last season. and now i would like to highlight maybe that we might be talking about when talking to about the 3 layers in this tournament, is that maybe a play in november. and not that the end of the season where most of the players pay our debt, toughest, a leak in the world, a premier league, it would be a good for them. so yeah, i think i had the feeling they have improved in the fair elizabeth after that the
6:36 pm
15 it rest. and now of course they, they present the credentials to the one of the candidates to win this book up yet. and so some of the young players doing well, giving them a lot of confidence in front of go. when we saw before the game kicks off, see iran st. choosing not to sing their national anthem. everything that's going on off the pitch around that scene. did that seem to affect them today? do you think? it seemed like it did it seem like, did they, they were more focus at the beginning of the match in that. then in being able to establish themselves in terms of a style, a play again under carlos gators for, for another regime you see them. i've always been conserved, always being very aware of what they need to do. this time you can see that you saw very flat team, you saw a team that really was instead of defensively secure, was dropping back in an apprehensive manner. and that allowed england to really exploit a lot of spaces. and it also allowed england to truly establish the potential that they have. now does it mean that you can start using those famous 3 words that
6:37 pm
england fans used to always chant all the time? oh, it's a good start. let's start there. but again, when you start seeing this iran side, it is a big disappointment. yeah. i'm just going to pick up on that. obviously in teams always come in to tournaments with expectations weighing heavily on the shoulders. they have reached the semi finals, the font, the euros as well. realistically, all they title content his head, he thank they have everything to the but the past, the does say what it we have seen of them in the last big tournaments. but if you look at the players, it's an excellent squat. if you look at the counter, they come from the, the league they, they come from this, the most powerful as i was mentioning, anna, if you look at the rest of the coach of that leak at the premier league, they have the best coaches off the world so these players that they should be that
6:38 pm
the best thing you have there, but what you're like, you're gonna globe. a lot of that. i've gotten a lot of for coaches and so this play yard, so i think they should be weak whenever would them it maybe into our favorite top 3 contenders. but they should be i think thank you for now. chem will kick off fast approaching of our summer stadium will be live there in just a moment. for 1st, let's learn more about the fixture that's coming up with samantha johnson. ok, strip yourselves in. we're likely to be in for a rollercoaster. ride senegal against benevolence. what's so amazing about that, you my ask, well, it's where a tropi winning african team take on the inheritors of total football. hi i'm samantha johnson. this is wealth cup one o one. so total football is a fay. oh wow. that it was in the 19 seventy's, the dutch were very, very good at it. the idea is that any play except the goalkeeper comes what roles with another while playing in the same style. their opponents wouldn't have to do
6:39 pm
with playing where of course times change and so do tactics but the ghost of total for whole lives on, in the modern game. now, you know, so the netherlands will go into this one with a load of history and a bucket full of respect travelers that come close, but it actually won a world cup. this is the team that could come to might change that and they'll be relying on best man, skipper virgil been to height. his extraordinary talents was developed in the very ordinary town of greater lane, something called cage football, 5 aside, but in a cage anyhow, he is now so good that lino messy describes him as complete and magnificent high praise. indeed, senegal might be slightly down in the rankings less, but they've got all and can win finals most recently, the african nations. this time, however, they'll have to do it without the talisman assario manet. his else with the leg injury, his latex. it is a crushing blow to celebrate chance for another hint at the spirits of the side comes in the enormous shape of edward mandy. i mean,
6:40 pm
he's 7 years ago. he was on the verge of quitting. he was actually visiting job centers. something told him to put the football rejection letters in the band and keep on working on his game. he's now the gold keeper for senegal ads, the english premier league side chelsea, you see heating giver and neither do senegal. as i say, even if you're not into football that much, it's going to be quite a game. ah, let's go live now to the stadium where we can join a gemini shadow further. sonic over to serve and evelyn's gemma atmosphere. building out of kick off. i'm sure, but how will cynical get on without the store, man, sorry, i am on a well, and it has to be quite sure. no, we have all been asking the build up to this game, particularly from a set of go perspective has been about the loss of the saudi emani, their star man, all time a leading goal scorer, the man who got them to this tournament,
6:41 pm
his at winning penalty in the qualifies against egypt did the same thing in the africa cup of nations, vinyl as well to win them at that tournament. but despite the loss of manet, the fans here i spoke to you before the match was still feeling pretty bullish about that chance is here to night. ah, it will be for of course. so the pick go much, but what we believe in the cynical deal reduce a guyana golly. bali the guys will dog ridge m. o. we are sad that our money is not coming today. all of us are sad, but we're gonna women to all read going to have it today. either monday amendment, but i'm sure to night the boy will give to 100 percent do in the skin. it's all the players whose did, but we have more to play with it. going to be just fine. oh really? it was just like say as you had that cynical fans that remaining up some mistake, it really has been a great atmosphere. and the last few hours i've been here, we've been entertained by a band. and i also spike to some netherlands fans as well. they're
6:42 pm
a little bit more coy about their chances in the told, with their very positive getting out the great make no mistake when i ask them if they think they can win. i mean they've been hurt 3 times before, haven't they lost 3 final site? they're kind of keeping their expectations and check. now if i can just draw your attention to you, my left here, a worrying site, the ticket resolution point, as you can see, quite a big a q has built here. these fans are not able to get into the stadium at the moment. the fif ticketing app. the bar code is not appearing on the app and say, these fans have been shoving that bar code on the fee for e mouth that has not been allowing them 3 the turnstiles. say these fans as it stands, been not going to make it in time. so kick off this really is something that fees are willing to iron out as the tournament progresses. yeah, thank you for updates i, jenna, last time that gets resolved very quickly for all the fans here in cat. so we can go live now to nicholas sac keys, and it is again show in senegal,
6:43 pm
when many of the teams play is originate from and step, fasten in a very colorful street in the netherlands for his 1st. let's go to nick. i'm one of the front there, make all of that seems woke up chance is almost now without saudi our morning. well up until last week, when the announcement was made that said your money was not going to join the team, there was a level of excitement about this full camp cut and confidence about how this team was going to play. and of course, all of that, the mood has damping. of the use that money, the local boy here for people in the region of camels is not playing. i remember there are 6 other players who are originally from the gun show. i mean the actually in the neighborhood of jetta was the forward for a, as monica who's gonna be the port in the national squad. and, and you can see there's a level of excitement around the team because the team is not just side you money. all of the players are evolving in the premiership in the french league and the
6:44 pm
italian li there are top players of their own right. and there's a feeling that this team to go beyond any other african teams have it done before. you can see behind me for just a few minutes before the game. people have put out speaker so that they can follow the game in this neighbourhood. the government has announced that schools will be shut down, and government officials and businesses are closing now so that everybody in senegal can watch this game. andy, thank you so much. now let's go over to a step fashion whose live an orange street in the hague steps. hello sir. first of all, what is this street all about? and how are the funds failing ahead of the match? well this is orange street in the hague, and this is where it's going to happen. just a few men. few minutes from now to match is about to start. but the party is
6:45 pm
already gearing up here, and i'll give you a bit of sense of what is orange green is all about because you see a lot of orange here inside. but most of the orange you can actually see outside here in the street. they have decorated 4 weeks. some people actually have for taken leave from work for a couple of weeks to make sure that the whole street was going to be completely decorated in orange. you can see what they put up a 38 kilometers of flax have been put up here, lots of signs and is a huge optimism here on the dog chide that they can win this game tonight from senegal, i've asked people around here and they said, well, it's going to be for nail or 3 nail. so it is some over confidence here. i have to say about his game and of course it has to do with the fact that the audio money it's not playing. but from the dutch eye, there's no memphis to pie, and that's of course a top score. so in a way this may be some equality here. we have to see and wait, what's gonna come from this game,
6:46 pm
but there's definitely more orange fever. and now in the netherlands than there was in the last couple of weeks and month there was a lot of debate and controversy about is a world cup and katara about the labor rights. but there is now more interest to watch the game. i can see last night, more than 2000000 people watched the opening game and then madeline. so yeah, you can say that the netherlands is definitely gearing up for this world cup. now. good to hear. thank you so much, sher steps and a lot of confidence there for him, from dutch fans. apparently, let's start with he han festival. this sir. this cynical team. it's going to have to prove that it's about more than just saudi romana is now. it's going to be a collective effort. it has to be a collective effort. remember the other day i was talking about coaching, how important is for this work up? well, synagogue is one of the main examples of that with our new c, c. and his experience and his wisdom in terms of, of football. now, again, you said your mom is going to be mrs. far statistics as far as the intangibles when
6:47 pm
you start bringing other players like sorry, for example, he's going to have to step up. every ones are going to have to contribute a little bit more in order to have a successful campaign at jamie, your thoughts on the, on the cynical no team from africa is made it through to the semi finals and was at a well kind of with so much optimism about his team, a little bit deflated now after, after what happened to mon i but do you think they can still step up with this sir? tournaments, ah, yeah, they could do a for me, the netherlands out there that the toughest team to the top at the same group a but so we will see how he goes to they for me, even though there is no side there. money, air synagogue is the toughest opponent, and they have, of course, argument sat, the netherlands though, even though they missed the rush, her a woke up, i think there half enough arguments to, to be a favorites. in this, the met a startling thought. one of the best defenders in the world laker ever to your van dyke and frankie that young he is enjoying a momentum and then memphis that by in the photo lining giving equality in the
6:48 pm
final 3rd blur say pace, and let's not forget about the coach. leave on guy, he can became the 2nd oldest coach if he makes do they put their finals? and he knows what to though in this kind of tournament. so for me are favorites in this world, but of course, and who will have their chances on what he may can of her, of the dutch chances and, and louis van holl having last one run of the wilka. i concur with with, with german in terms of that, but you also have and there is no brit who's making his debut today. yeah. you also, our, on the attack is basically how the formation changed a little bit. then you of on the attack to players in and johnson and berg vine, who are going to be very key in terms of trying to attack that very solid synagogue defense. but also in group or yesterday of course kat. so getting off to that, not particularly great start against ecuador, is there a way back in to the tournament, sir? for catherine? you think after what you saw yesterday, jemma? it's gonna be tough, because if they had fresher, i think they still have more. i mean, at least i think they meet the score a goal that would be by now. and the 1st thing good to achieve in this woke up,
6:49 pm
but that when you started at losing at your home country, and it wasn't good enough that that game they didn't show that much m i t t without seeing a lot of nerd. so i think there was a lot of air pressure there, but of course, let's not rule them out. they will have 2 more games, and i'm sure they will try to prove they are better than what we saw against ecuador. let sir, let's say from a man who never fails to make headlines at a major tournament. christiane ronald are talking today saying his full outs with manchester united. want to have an impact on the portugal squad or this world cup. rinaldo and his teammates have been training ahead of her bear open against garner in it. see the interview, of course, on the eve of the tournaments he claimed he'd been betrayed and was being forced out to united the club or exploring legal options to terminate. rinaldo contract the members eagle timing, a simple timing in my life. the best timing is always my timing from your side. it
6:50 pm
is obviously easy to give your opinions and right things. sometimes truce. sometimes most of them lies with a timing for me is my timing thing with on. i don't have to worry about what others think about. i am totally convinced this won't have any influence on the selection . listen care. every player manager, president and caitlin. they all know who i am i, what i think they've known me since i was 11 years old. they won't be influenced by what people write or say i speak when i want was pretty much that the summary there . one, i mean, what did you make of what renella, how to say, said i, i'm not just making any new discoveries when i say that he has a very strong personality. am i? i don't, i don't i am. but it's doubling down on what he said. the other day in the interview, it's doubling down and saying, well this is my oasis, this is where i feel free is that because of manchester united, i feel like i am no longer the person i can be now is he the player that he wants was no, is either the person that he always will be. yes, i met like i said,
6:51 pm
i am by the making any new discovery. but it's a moment for him to truly express what he really feels in. it's making people uncomfortable, rightly roughly, i don't know. it's a chimera. i mean he the timing of that interview was, was pretty interesting, wasn't it? it seems to have put a full stop on his career united. and what can you offer to this tournament since this portugal team? do you think realistically? okay, let sir respect. christiana le renee lucas allege on the his, the law professional football player. and even though he's at the end of his career, he still has the luck to offered. so let's wait what he can offer and about the timing. it's true, he can as, as big as what he wants is a free man to do that. but please don't ask the journalist that what you can ask and you what you cannot ask to that your teammates. because of course, if you say so many strong things so many headlined, they are going to ask your colleagues about you. of course you know that it's so a we'll see. but the, i think it's to learn a little bit the fuck is in, in football. if there is and, and not to lot of for talking about other stuff,
6:52 pm
i could end up with a little more air gasoline in the fire. and when it ceased quite interesting, because, you know, lena may seem rinaldo that similar stages of their career in our anal as a couple of years older. but it seems with messy. he's kind of adapted into the sort of elder statesman role quite happily the arch and seen it seem is sort of built to suits him. where is this a real sort of fight against the dying of the light from rinaldo? there isn't there and do you think it is affecting the portugal team to some extent? i mean, there's been a lot of speculation, whether it has or it has it. at the end of the day here, players a blue fernandez come out and say no, it isn't my relationship with ronald as well, especially after the video that came out where it looked like he was kind of giving him the cold shoulder in many other players amongst them, but it's not true or at least it's been said that it's not true. and or is it helping? maybe it's galvanizing, but we don't know from the, from the doors inside of that dressing room. how that is being looked at. if we really want to delve into it,
6:53 pm
we're gonna have to see how they perform over and how he ends up missing it. one thing for sure, if there is one coach that might not have him, if he was the coach of portugal, wayne rooney wouldn't happen. one is know that for sure. that's what we've heard, said jim, it, i mean porch girls, scott, outside of ranaldo is. it's one of the strongest to the, the, the tournament is now j. m. it is it, it's her talent at 13 meg with a lot of quality players at guar, seeing our portuguese steams a going through in her knockouts, that just of the champions league, her, some of them us pain of us are bright. so yet that is a talent the generation there. question mark is, how is it gonna perform? and the 2nd question is fernando sandra's to will be strong enough to decide to maybe get a son or not in the start or sitting him on the bed at some point. and that's what we have to see portugal the gone or coming up pretty soon or before that of course whales want to make their 1st world cup apparent since 1958 they take on the u. s. i little lights are on the last on wales played at the will cut,
6:54 pm
they were beaten one nail by brazil in the quarter finals. the gulf skirt that they at sea nigeria. you might have heard of cold, polite, it's something that is history in our country. it's schools are gonna get us stop to watch our games. kids are going to miss school, fortunately for them. and so it's, it's just one of those moments. there is a massive piece of history in our country. something that we've all wanted for a long time. and, and like i said to her, to be the team that was to get over the line and, and do that for our country is incredible on them. we know we have this formulation back home the united states, 1st his whales coming up one, what do we make of this year sites? he made an hugely impressive in qualifying where they they weren't hugely impressive. but at times you saw them very inhibited in. there's been a great deal of criticism, a on the shoulders of greg burn halter and, and what she hasn't been able to do to really release the tower that steam has keep
6:55 pm
in mind. also a lot of the players that we've mentioned that they played at the very highest levels in european football at the very best clubs. but it hasn't translated in at the u. s. national team level, especially in recent weeks. we've seen the form of a christian pulls, we haven't seen western mckinney at his best just to give you a couple of examples. those are players that really need to step up for the united states to your rain has kind of been the exception. he's been playing well, but again we have to see what heat this team is able to do when the big lights are on yet a young team, isn't it? a general center garrath by all somebody you watch the close quarters in spain for, for many years. i mean, he always so nice funny place that sir seems to have base. he organized his club football to make sure he's playing well for wales to snack lee. i mean, he made it clear to, especially ral margarita and supporters and declared that his priorities, square 1st whales, the national team, golf and then a hurry out of making a dinner. not very funny way for irrelevant at the air is funny. sorry,
6:56 pm
cold time. it's 64 years later, they have nothing to lose. what can got it, bail are offered, this is the big question marker, his being a subsidy that ela galaxy, of course, is plainer and molest, so can, has a quite a good knowledge of the arrival. so later today, but tom, a, we'll see, i mean, he was one of the most talented players in european effort. but once this was a long time ago, had they had without jo, elena, keep peace in the squat. but it might be interesting a game. yeah. on what if he made his move on to the m a last summer we were expecting to sort of see a sort of late blooming sort of career with some good golf courses nearby. and i lay in that little a good mood fan, but he's barely featured, has he? but he seems to manage to get himself fit for wales as nice as well. yes and good. yes. and i agree with the 2nd point as well, but he didn't have a tremendous oh, for tremendous time in our lay this past season. but he came in at the right time.
6:57 pm
he scores the equalizer in the 120 plus minute of the analyst got final fairly. i see you end up seeing him become that player that well, the reason why they bring him in the reason why they're bring georgia coline amongst many others is exactly that. he comes in in scores and big games, and he did that a great deal at rel, madrid when he was called upon a course member, a couple of champions league matches that he had where he ends up being a major contributor. he did that in m a less now. will he be able to do that with wales? that's going to be the big question mark. yeah, and just therm. we're just coming up to the end of the show. now just some 1st impressions now ever for the opening day of the tournament, now seeing fans at the or the fan festival. what if, what have you made of her? the overall impression that cats us might on the well so far jemma. and i think it's like a very joyful, learn gold cup. every one is making a big effort to find support. 30 even journalists that we feel very welcome 1st in
