situation indeed quite gain and really interesting that the approach has sudden taking place in places other than the horn. now you mentioned the many challenges that he's facing, but his arrest, the attempt to arrest him is over failing to show up to court in one particular case. isn't it, kamala, can you explain what that is? a yes, that particular case. but gains do what they're locally known and that door shakana, that door shakana stage drip, bordner g. every dime, a foreign head to a stage comes to budget on or if the budget donny head go state goal would feed. that is steve expensive. give. did that then put another bond there, j which are known as the total con emron cottonwood. the accused of digging one of the watchers from that ga khana. although he made a rule that it would be that he raised the price on it to 50 percent of the value of the goods. and he had bought a watch which was presented by

let's get more on this. we're joined now by adding a new political analyst and columnist for the dawn news website. and she's joining us on skype from islam abad. thank you very much for your time. so we believe breaking up a gathering of con, support as we saw last week, banning large gatherings didn't deter people from congregating outside. mister cons . holland, today is the government action against him on con, doing anything to the, to support or is it infect bolstering, is i think the government is so by hast so using this in a way to or so keep for iran. ha, who is obviously a very popular deter at the rule from focusing on the election to match because he's constantly as your correspondence just pointed out, he is constantly being ordered to look a video scores and there's a bit he's gone stone or is it s so what do you know, the boards are issuing arrest water and so do us some extent of fossa. you know,
6:09 pm
the government does a one to it is team. they do want to be able to do toward his movement, but it is on. so we of trying to keep him distracted and this is not the 1st time this tactic has been used. if you look at pakistan history, you will see this what diamond again, that is dying and there is no loggerheads on, you know, on, on the, on a trash also with the establishment that are not so cases against him. and the idea also is to keep them betting busy with their or to bed and says, which then available for other activities. so does that give us an idea then of what you make of the charges against? and ron con, he and legal experts said this frivolous. do you agree? i suppose it will be said in a way that does, you know, especially in buxton. again, this is the history that when you do have such charges against oak wanted to go,

lee does i do certain diamond? they're good. he owes a d all. what we wanted to keep motivated, he says, and human if there is some student, the fact that they have been initiated is due to politics. and whenever they do, and it is also due to the body rather than the medi took the case itself. and it's not just a political cases, or rather legal cases, that politicians and pakistan i used to facing it con, has survived an assassination attempt on his life. and he keeps wanting that there was a threat to his life. and this is a country that's also no stranger to political leaders being killed. is he being provided adequate security? this is a difficult question of it because it's a very subjective view of what security can be or should be as you yourself said, that you know, pakistan as a political history is, will a club by lent events and need be sent to you at least in our political memory
6:11 pm
across, be busy with totally an assassination or die, and on harm himself has also been targeted once and you still claims that he has and recovered from that a death. so, you know, a security is a difficulty to provide a focus on to any one or any institution a, as you can see, we're constantly witnessing a dentist who died in these days. and then all of the see, this is also question of how do you provide security, who are political leader that i'm going to put in often election when his, you know, his schedule is perhaps full of interaction with the people that election can be focused on tend to be in very, you know, the kind of environment in which the day please security is not that easy to ensure . no, and of course he saying that he's not actually being allowed to hold any election

there are enemies on those views. help explain why protests by tens of thousands of georgians for the government to scrap a foreign agent law that was viewed as being modeled and one in russia where it's been used to crack down on dissent. anti russian, graffiti is everywhere and typically see the interior ministry says 112 russians are here. glad reason can arrived 12 months ago and was worried about how he'd be accepted. my friends and i was a little bit nor was coming to this process because i do even need to be here is our war or georgia. but when the u. s. can locals they have full support on the russian helping them. and i think it's amazing that this stuff is united people. the russian influx has made georgia, one of the fastest growing economies in the world, but opposition parties, a calling for a visa regime for russians. echoing the suspicions many georgians feel towards the

6:20 pm
and it sounds like the message from the white house that people's money is safe, is working when it comes to stock market game. it appears that way they are watching the markets as they opened here in the united states very closely and they're doing quite well. frankly, they're all on the green s and p, the tao. the nasdaq all gaining about $1.00 to $1.00 and a half to 2 percent or so. that's good news for the white house. and quite frankly, for a lot of people have been watching this closely. what they were trying to do was prevent panic. that is what the white house did not want to happen. they did not want people rushing to their banks to withdraw money because that could have led to a wider banking crisis, whiter one that we already have in the united states right now. so based on the market reactions so far on tuesday, it appears that that policy by the white house and speaking out aggressively over the last 24 hours trying to contain this to the 2 banks that have been shut down,
6:21 pm
appears to be working. but it doesn't necessarily point to necessarily long term stability just within the last hour or so. to give you an idea, moody's, the rating agency downgraded the u. s. banking system from stable to negative. and in a report said the rapid, rapidly deteriorating operating environment in their words, was the cause for the downgrade. so certainly there's a sigh of relief that the market seem to be doing very well on tuesday, but also the medium to long term outlook is still very delicate and any sigh of relief with the latest inflation against gay. one of the reasons for silicon valley bank collapse has to do with interest rates hikes, having a negative impact on the bonds that the bank held in the latest inflation figures show it's coming down. is it too early to tell us that would have an impact on interest rate hikes? yeah, it's complicated in a word, but the bottom line is,
6:22 pm
is that the inflation rate in the u. s. has slowly and steadily been coming down. the latest numbers show it's about 6 percent. now that's good news when compared to where it was this time last year where it was 9 percent. and then it was creeping in about the $8.00 to $8.00 and a half percent all through last summer. so compared to last year, the interest rate now at 6 percent, the inflation rate, excuse me, is pretty good. however, where should it have been, where should it be? historically? that's about $1.00 to $1.00 and a half percent. so if you look at it historically, where it should be, it's still way above where it should be. so that leaves the federal reserve at the very tough decision. do they raise interest rates to help cool inflation even more or do they leave it alone? and don't do that, that's the real question that they'll face as they make that decision next week. because we know is it, if the federal reserve it does raise interest rates while it might help put the
6:23 pm
brakes on inflation. there are certainly other negative impacts to the economy. and of course, as the u. s. economy goes, so goes some of the global economy as well, at least in some degree. so that's why people are watching this so closely. that is gabriel and he's on the joining us with the latest live in new york. thank you. gave well it's bring an under sentence. he's joining us live from london in london and europe fairing better than the asian market center. yes. will you call? it says money or do in that stock market or cautious optimism now, on the footsie indexes up one percent as just over one percent. german is dax indexes gain 2 percent after its drop of free percent on monday. and the pen european stalks, $600.00, is are up 1.6 percent. the banking center, the banking sector up to point 8 percent. so this is partly reaction
6:24 pm
to what we're impressive. inflation figures that were that regarded us from the u. s. but also a regaining of some confidence, although there is a real fear that the banking system in the u. s. isn't the same as many parts of europe, the big banks in your state banks and so on. and there is a real concern about the situation. i wouldn't call it contagion, but if you look at the asian markets closing at really bad rates there 7 percent down on the topics share index in japan and was the situation everyone looking to the markets there for improvement. but overall, there is a return of some level of confidence, certainly not any real fear of 2008 or mood or
6:25 pm
when there was an almighty a bank crash. but this is a situation where the largest or bank a blender in the us since that 2008 crash, the silicon valley bank went down and no one is underestimating what possible implications that might have further down the road. and he thank you very much, that is that anderson and for the latest live in london, thank you to the lobby. now the country has declared a state of disaster. after tropical cyclone freddie had it for a 2nd time in less than 3 weeks. at least 190 people had been killed in the disaster. the troy gate and b reports. they dig to find survivors buried under the mud, but hopes of finding people alive or fading fast. dozens of missing from this village in malawi, after tropical storm freddy, tall through it would have i would have heard of some of it. i'm helping to find the victims. i know there are more bodies that are still buried so far between 20

6:28 pm
people in need because of blocks of damaged roads. well, let's get more on this. we're joined by doctor parts, particularly as the secretary general of the society of medical doctors of malawi, and he's joining us live from bland, bland, ty in malawi. very good to have you with us. tell us about the situation facing people with cholera and medical professionals treating them. and what is, as we mentioned, the worst color outbreak in malawi is history. thank you very much for having me this afternoon over here. indeed, the cycling has ripped through malawi, a very devastating man. as the figures of actually mentioned earlier, we have over 60000 people effected more than 20000, displaced by depths and hundreds of people missing. and this comes in actually one of the worst possible times the country has been trying to fight across with the, the pandemic. more likely epidemic of color that we've actually had. we've had
6:29 pm
numerous responses to cross color, but with the current cycle that's being ravaging through the country. we're actually very, very scared that this might actually, you know, devastate old measures that we've put across to try and ample with color. there are a lot of casualties and a lot of people that are either missing or dead and majorly. a lot of people have been internally displaced. and this is where we feel like the huge target of color eggs are going to be starting off at the situation. does malawi have the intervening fluids, the antibiotics it needs to treat patients? did it have these resources before the cycling head? so in terms of the availability of the resources, there are resources that are available. however, the problem is not trying to get the treatment to the people. currently, the problem is actually trying to get that logistical support to the people. we have areas that have been cut off by floods. we have areas that we're not able to
6:30 pm
get people evacuated out, either through air, rescues, or even boat rescues through the through the floods itself. there are emergencies that are in different areas where it's absolutely impossible to reach. so even if we do have the resources to treat color, i'm this particular situation. it's very difficult to get them the resources where they particularly are and that's what's causing a huge challenge for not only the health sector, but also the rescue teams that have been started and initiated by dogma. and so what does belong and the medical fraternity need to make sure that the resources that you do have, i'm guessing to the people who need it? what see the situation currently is very dire. i mean, there's hundreds of casualties and hospitals, especially in the southern region, are being completely overwhelmed with an influx of casualties that's coming in different areas in different forms. and we're not only looking at casualties
6:31 pm
related to the floods. we're also looking at other various health conditions, for example of traffic conditions. we're looking at other patients with heart attacks. we're still coming. we have a regular program that needs to be assisted and worked on. and we also have this new casual be program that's come through. so trying to strike a balance between the 2 is, is actually, what's the challenge over here? we had instances with programs have tried to transfer health care workers from one program and tried to redirect them to the other, where the casualties are for us to be able to assist with the overwhelming numbers . so it's not just the fact about the medical or the financial resources. it's also the fact that we need the human capacity. and this is what, as the society of medical doctors we're trying to do, we're trying to ensure that we get as many health care workers as possible within the different districts across the country to try and assist either in voluntary methods or within their programs respectively. to ensure that we can try to reduce the burden that are being faced by the teams are currently on ground and who are
6:32 pm
totally devastated with the overwhelming effects. and when you talk about the need for, you know, for human resources, let's say for medical professionals, are you getting the international assistance that could help in this regard? what currently on ground we do have teams, for example, we have the m s of teams. we have w h o n u and coordinating the responses. however, we can never say that this number of people are sufficient or this is enough. we do not need more. every form of assistance that can come in will always be more than helpful. i must be grateful to the medical fraternity of malawi for them. you know, despite being either on leave or working in the private sectors have voluntarily shown themselves over to try and assist with as much as they can, whether in person or with whatever resources they have available themselves. so we definitely do need the assistance and any form of assistance is syntactic for us because it will only assist us. mitigate this, this issue dr. path patel,
