out. all right, and he will become the 1st former us president or sitting president to be criminally, charged and arraigned. what kind of impact is that likely or expected to have on his re election campaign? well, of course, this president is under multiple investigations. this could only be the 1st other charges that could be filed against him. the president has really tried to get out in front of these charges and use it to his advantage. he used to rally his base describing this as a witch hunt. in fact, he's raised more than $5000000.00. and the last several days since news of this indictment began to go public, he's actually raised more than $5000000.00. and according to a spokesperson, 16000 people have signed up to volunteer for his campaign. as a result,

she went on after the war to become president without apparently these allegations getting in, in his way. yes. so this isn't the 1st problem of this trial. and the reason why it took 2 decades to, to begin this trial is given in the report which is a basis of his trial dis, council of europe report published 1st in 2010, and then approved in 2011 by a 3 senator. and this report urban re summarizes ample alleged evidence of the war crimes. and also the violent methods by which the former kayla leaders later use their military power to gain political and economic power and consume. there is in this report, summarizes this evidence and says that the impunity of these people is explained by the elimination and intimidation of witnesses on one hand. and by the fact that

western powers decided not to act upon the evidence over handling, he says, overwhelming evidence of the war. crimes of these are guerrilla leaders. this is what the report says. and the report is, in fact, the basis for this trial. so there is a, there is also, there are also some political choices made by western bowers, those who were in charge of the reconstruction of casa off to the war. no, and we've had the staff of the trial to day want to make of the 1st day what you make of the presentation by the prosecution. well i, i didn't follow it very closely. i, i, i had to look at the, i mean, at the charges or i even, you know, i, i don't really have views of the details of the charges. what i can say i have no idea where the data is. his go accused are guilty or innocent. what i can say that
6:23 pm
we have had a few trials before on, on, on the, on the cost of, of side of the war in the hague, in the un tribunal in the hague. and those trials ultimately acquitted the defendants, but the trust acquitted them only because there were no sufficient links between the accused and some war crimes which were approved. so we know that some war crimes have been committed. and now it will be a question of seeing whether these war crimes can also be linked to dash in his current use. but i, i think, i mean, i know that in kosovo, the trial, i mean few people i had about this trial. and i also think that few people really believe that the k a is entirely innocent walk right now. let, let's not go into the question of who committed more crimes where there is, i think, by now, little doubt as a question of historical research that also the kaylee has committed some war
6:24 pm
crimes. now whether that, what the effect of that is or on, on the reasons for which the k to cobb arms on the basis for independence because it is, is entirely different matter. but the mere fact in some crimes have been committed is i think, well established. all right, how easy will it be though? to pin you said it's been well researched well established, but in a legal context to pin specific crimes on specific figures. how easy is not going to be what i said, why are we no, i'm not a criminal lawyer. i don't know the details of this case. i suppose it will be very difficult for 1st of all because the trial begins 24 years after the fact. so even if there are still witnesses around, you know, that memory might be faulty. so he will be a problem. and we will see,
6:25 pm
we will see if the prosecution has, you know, these court has been established defacto for this very trial and began to day on the, the, the indicted took maybe 2 years to, to write down the back little more. so, you know, probably there is something behind it, but, you know, we, i, i keep an entirely open mind. okay, thank you so much for your analysis on that. thank you. i'm a care fast. those military's denied responsibility for killing several boys that a base near the town of walk lawyer, a warning to our viewers now you may find some of the images to be distressful. a video posted on social media shows men dressed in military uniforms walking among 7 bodies. the story was initially reported in french media. 2 french reporters were expelled from beginner, facile on sunday. rights groups of accused soldiers of widespread abuses against

east as we go into thursday, bringing some of those severe weather conditions to the u. s. east coast by the end of the week are joining me now is harold brook sees a senior research scientist at the national oceanic and atmospheric administration . joins us from norman, oklahoma. good to have you ever so 1st of all, why have we seen the storms so intense this year? well, essentially when the ingredients come together, this is the kind of thing that happens and we've had a very active pattern. it's been warm in the, in the southern part of the u. s. and one of the things that typically at this time of year, right, limit storm formation is the cold front go all the way through the gulf of mexico and cool the gulf waters. and that hasn't happened. and so anytime we get a weather system, a walk that comes in the conditions are right for tornadoes. is it then just trying to piece together you're saying, is it possible, say at all that this is related to climate change, or is that too much of
6:38 pm
a stretch? but that's at least a little bit of a stretch. the, the fact that the gulf is, is warm. it's a little bit warmer than it, than it has been historically. and a little bit of that is from is from climate change. but this is the time of year when every once in a while we get a very active pattern anyway, and we've known back for over a century these kinds of things happened this time of year. and it may be related to climate change, but it's really hard to go that far down that road. all right, we've got a lot of technology available now. why is it still so difficult to try and predict the path of these tornadoes are going to take? well we're, we're actually pretty good at making the forecast, at least in terms of the generally area say like the central part of the us, or the se, in the us several days in advance. now when it comes down to predicting wherever the individual storm is going to make it radio, that's typically 15 to 30 minutes in advance. and the biggest limitations of,
6:39 pm
of that are really just where exactly will a storm form. because many times these storms pretty straight, it's fairly early in their lifetimes. and so predicting the beginning of a storm. and then the ingredients that go into making the, that actually make a particular storm periodic. some of the things that go on our capital, a very small scales within the storm, and that just makes it hard. but we're, we're actually a whole lot better than we were say 50 years ago doing this. why? what about location? the time that these storms hit, things like that, determine the intensity. well, there's not a whole lot to do with the time of day or the, or the location that will affect the intensity. as far as we can tell, with some real, it's small exceptions that produce weak tornadoes. in very particular condition, if you can get a tornado, we can be strong. let. that's true. any place on the planet that if you can get a tornado, we can be a very strong tornado. what does happen, though?
6:40 pm
that makes a big difference in terms of location and timing has to do with the impacts of the storm. the southeastern united states has, has more poverty than, than much of the rest of the country. but it also has a lot higher population density. and more of the tornadoes occur after dark. and that makes them extremely difficult to deal with. it's a lot easier to warn people, you know, in the late afternoon, early evening when the, when the sun still out and get people to respond then. but in the southeast we have a combination of not a real good timing for tornadoes, but also a lot of vulnerable population. all right, thanks so much for your thoughts on that. how brooks funerals have been held in the palestinian city of nablus for 2 men killed by israeli forces and raids in the occupied west bank. the palestinian health ministry says the men were from a refugee camp west of numberless 90 for palestinians have been killed by israeli
