shows on the consumption of these. i'll just see the inside story. all right, for more on all this i'm joined by our guests in brussels. is julian who is a european union affairs analyst and 2 and this is thought that we call them this and former director of the 2 nation institute of strategic studies. and also in brussels, is you asked me that creamy a north africa research analyst at the brussels international center. yes. mean focuses onto nation politics and transitional movements in the amount of a warm welcome to you all. and thanks so much for joining us today on inside story thought. let me start with you today. at present. i saw you. it is hoping to get this $1000000000.00 you bailout for the struggling economy into nature. the you wants to stem the flow of migrants to europe so easily what we're seeing here adage, essence migrants basically being used as part. it's a yes or no,
8:36 pm
actually yes, it's like, you know, in international relations the don't know, don't know, equation is happening here. i mean, i say there's no doubt using the immigration court as part of the old bargain with regards to micro financial assistance to, to use yeah, to the jews and need a lot of financial assistance. the budget deficit is really increasing. so the president knows very well that he needs to finish the system as the i am as agreement has been bought because he's not in agreement with some of the uh, the forms that are proposing this stuff level of the month of october 15th last year. so he's trying to really go, she, i am a financial assistance and with that, she wants to have more by accident financing. and yes, you use the immigration quite by the same time. most of you will be unit is doing the same. as you opinion,
8:37 pm
a is trying for yours now to pressure north african countries including me is you have to have a different do you with regards to immigration. uh, we're not exactly sure of the details of this. um, new deals. we're still waiting for the memorandum to be fine, the boss of the published by the end of this month. but to read, you know, the them, you'll be meeting that's happened about 24 hours before the business will be there's the twenty's. yeah. i was basically pushing for more speed, the process when it comes to immigration and support. so i'd say company to be part of the page and then that might be too easy. so we're gonna have to wait for the team to be seeing the thing, but certainly what's happening is done on the, on both sides, not only from a side side. so i, i want to get back to the i m f, a proposal a shortly with you. but before that i, i just want to talk more about the migrants and the stance towards them when it
8:38 pm
comes to the chinese government. because the president present side went to sparks ahead of this meeting with you officials. he said that any solution to the mediterranean migrant crisis should not come at the expense of his country. and he, he basically use a lot of humanitarian caring language when it came to the plight of the migrant. and the reason i'm bringing this up is because this is quite a contrast to what we heard from chi side a few months back. this was in february when he accused migrants of bringing violence and crime to, to nature. he also said that people arriving from sub saharan africa post a threat to his country's demographic make up. so the fact that we've seen such a shift in tone from the president at a time when the president is making this agreement with the e. u doesn't that also contribute to a cynical attitude toward all of this. and again, to the idea that migrants are being used as political ponce as well. actually, the fact is that he's, it's not the 1st time uses this human and we were mentally kidding language. he
8:39 pm
kept saying that for months now, actually the statement, the business, the statement that was referring basically to to get a replacement theory. that statement was annual. that's not the feat quinn's language. that's the case i would use use frequent language was just like it did the specs visit just the day before you will be in need of visited your needs. yes . was what he uses to, to say for, for so many minutes, all along the problem with that, it's not the different tones between that. but as this statement that happens in february are pretty much it actually. and the is you mainly getting language is between this course and practice. there is no doubt in my mind that a site that is partly a 10. he's a, he's a, he uses this course sometimes to a c or
8:40 pm
a high to way some of the practice we gonna have to with the, we are breaking into our regular programming to bring you these live pictures of donald trump's motorcade heading to the federal court house in downtown miami, from his golf house in doral, florida, where he had been spending the nights, remarkable pictures as you are seeing what is a historic 1st in the united states. donald trump being the 1st former president to face federal criminal charges. he of course, does face criminal charges already as of a few weeks ago, but that is at a state level. we're talking now about a completely different case. the federal indictment that was on sealed a few days ago, reviewing $37.00 charges against donald trump. what does this case about? this is about donald trump's handling of sensitive documents, classified military information that allegedly revealed the information
8:41 pm
on the us nuclear capabilities, as well as nuclear and military capabilities of foreign countries. well, remarkable pictures. as you see these not quite live just shot moments ago, you see the highway heading to downtown miami completely blocked off. as the 45th president of the united states makes his way downtown. now, normally from the road to the federal courthouse, it would be a roughly 30 minute drive. we don't know how long this is going to take to the drive here believes to be dotted with groups of supporters, either pro trump or empty trump supporters in about 20 minutes or so. we are expecting donald trump to reach his destination at the parking lot outside the federal court house. so this is what we think is going to happen as you watch these
8:42 pm
live pictures of donald trump's motorcade. we do not expect to see donald trump as he leaves his car once he gets there. we do expect that he is going to be driving into a parking lot. there is a tunnel that heads from the parking lot to the federal courthouse and it is expected no guarantees here, but it is expected that the former president will be taking that tunnel and therefore that he will not be seen on camera. however, as we just mentioned, this is a 1st now let's show you the google map of where the former president is expected. he is expected in court in about 17 minutes. and this is the map of the central miami smell. elsa 0 is correspondence. allen's fisher has been covering this and has been in miami, seeing the build up of their, i say,
8:43 pm
pension excitement outside the courthouse. ellen, if you can hear me, can you paint a picture for us of what you've seen outside the court house and what the former president might see as well when he arrives i think you'll, you'll see certainly the streets lined with supporters that are hundreds here, not the sizes, but the police were planning for you. remember the police chief yesterday said that they were prepared for crowds of anywhere between $550000.00. there's maybe, maybe the most i thought was in here that are pro trump and they will be lighting the street. many of them i've had the result in the move and i'm moving towards the entrance that they think that is motorcade will take there's certainly been loaded in the protest and support of donald trump. many of them subject elliptical prosecution. and they of course are saying that if the election was to model, it doesn't matter about the documents case, they would vote for donald trump with
8:44 pm
a couple of them even saying that if he's convicted, they will still vote for donald trump to be president. now would you say he'll be brought here to this court house? he'll be taken at through an underground cottage and then up to the floor where people are normally processed. they're been arguments that donald trump's prosecution shows that there's a 2 tier legal system. well, that is to a degree and that the president won't be photographed, that's something that wouldn't normally happen over the years. but if you're competing in court, you would have your photograph taken. so for donald trump, they're going to use a previous photo. we are told that he is still likely to have his fingerprints taken electronically. is you know, the doing a glass screen? no, none of the messy inc. that was used in the past. and then he will go into court where he will hear details of the $57.00 charges against them. now when he landed at darrell, on monday, he spent a lot of time talking with his legal team. the argument was about who would
8:45 pm
accompany them in court. what they would be seeing a possibly he's been still looking for lawyers to represent a number of companies have been approached and turned it down. now there's a couple of reasons for that. one, he, he's doing to, to make things difficult for his legal team and, and some advice they've been cold and witnesses and the cases against him is also be known to stare his legal firm. i'm in that he doesn't always pay the bills and so people are wary of getting involved with, with donald trump, but he does have a team that will be with them in the court. it's expected they will make arguments that they should be throwing out because it is a selective prosecution that he is being charged for something that others have been guilty of. and the only reason that he's been charged that he's donald trump, it's unlikely that the judge will entertain those arguments instead will probably set a date for legal law. give it's to be had a separate occasion. donald trump is expected to plead not guilty if he says anything, a tool that he's not expected to surrender his passport,
8:46 pm
which again would be a normal thing for many people. but they're suggesting that everyone tends to know where he is. and so they should be able to get him and of course, throughout his entire time in court, he will be accompanied by this detail. they will not leave his side. and that is another reason why he will not behind cough, which would sometimes often you happen to people who are cold in front of a federal court to answer criminal charges, which of course is the position donald trump finds himself and twice impeached. and in a couple of hours, he will be twice indicted. the the 2nd type on bunch more serious federal charges which if convicted of all of then we could end up spending the rest of his life in prison to twice impeach, twice. and i did all kinds of history being made. alan fisher. thank you very much . stand by and as you can see, this door of yours communications, a little patchy with miami, both from the helicopter shot of the donald trump motorcade making its way to the
8:47 pm
federal court house and occasionally with alan. so do be patient with us on that. we can go to john henry, now else is yours, correspondent who's been speaking with trump supporters outside the court house. i wonder what it's like where we're seeing the live pictures, john of the smoke motorcade which is headed towards you. i wonder how supporters are experiencing. i suppose this moment, are they watching it on their phones? do they know the trump is headed their way? they do know they've been passing around by word of malice and some of them watching tv on their phones. but they know, and that's why you can see them all gathered in. there's one central spot outside the courthouse and it's see of pro trump sleggs. and if we go down here just a little farther and get a look at the individuals in the crowd, it is almost entirely a pro trump crowd. 7 you hear chance, many of which i will not be able to repeat on air. and there are cars driving by
8:48 pm
with images is donald trump, i'm here now. you see people standing we want from so this is a crowd of runs for president to see them. mind you, he probably will not see them on his way and, and that's because there is an underground entrance to this court house, which almost certainly the secret service will lead him down. as he goes to that arrangement for the enthusiasm here is mostly pro trump crowd. although we have seen people dressed in jail clothes. apparently there depiction of what he would be wearing after this is all over. that's going to be a long processing for now. these proud, these are largely the support of the 45th president john, i'm wondering whether perhaps um, you could, if you could help us speak with some of the trump supporters that you were interacting with earlier today. i see them behind you. i know they're usually pretty vocal. i wonder whether perhaps you could approach some of them and ask them
8:49 pm
a few questions for us. bear with me, let's do it sir. are you as a border of the original or live now? would you like to answer a couple questions now? all right. let's find someone in a, in a minute. yeah. we're, we're doing a television interview right now. we're looking for jump supporters. i'm just going to guess you want to know. i did take one to your wi fi here. yeah. let me tell you something. let me tell you something. have you ever noticed like any of these immigrants voting provided? no. why immigrants always bending for like a trump. why, why? what do you think? because the coming from the country is like a one. that's why i like to buy all these like, uh, associated comedies country. they run away from them. they don't want to have that thing, but we're here their own back here, right now, this is their new won't,
8:50 pm
this is our new. will we the one that and why are you here, ma'am? just a poor trump. i voted for him. i worked for him back in the eighty's. the man doesn't have a races phone in his body. how far did you come to be here? oh no, i live in miami. i live here, but i used to live in new york. i moved here. and when i worked in new york, i worked for mtv and true and wanted to buy some of my merchandise for 10 to sponsoring. i work for another 3 years. i've never seen so many women in executive positions in 1983 is i did it from. so let me ask you again. what about the charges? i mean, the charges are pretty seriously related. you need hit documents and nobody ever single president been doing the same why the other person has never been charged. why, why, how conflict latrice has never been charged with clinton's being the prosecutor say this is different because they say when they asked by it and he turned them over and from here. all right. and what prosecutors who they were,
8:51 pm
they weren't for the same thing, like the statement running the visual. so you definitely think this is a political problem. whoever travels where would travel outside united states knows what's going on inside the united states. these country belongs to bed. early 19th nowadays are corporate. oh, this company's money is a private. these country doesn't belong to its people more. there's no more read the people. i want to thank you for giving us your, your view. we appreciate it one more team. less than one was or try to prosecute or a rest your political opponent. you know that you have been out of a, you know, you know, did you become an interval country as a president? trump also talked about locking up hillary clinton. hillary, my country, all my culture for 3 months. nobody, nobody responsible for that, right. what day would it be the leave you a supervisor really elaborate the why?
8:52 pm
because their own agenda advocates the democrat everywhere. everywhere around the vehicle in the last 50 years. whatever, try to bring democracy right to this bill. we really appreciate talking to back again. by this evening the opposite to month. wait a little more stored. all right, thank you again my friend. so that's news to the view people here, it's almost universal when you talk to people here in the land, they're not on 100 percent of the fact that they use it. so usually adjustments department is working for joe biden and not for in defending just the view of the people out here should be pointed out that people who come out here are largely people have come out to city residents. but he didn't even we in miami, he lost it by about 7 percentage points,
8:53 pm
even though we won the state of florida. so this is a selective crowd, but very representative of gauge. is it for president trump? a john look. thank you very much that we can't couldn't ask for more alive, honest and unfiltered. look at this crowd at this part of the crowd, but that's what you would expect outside the courthouse as the president's at. we're watching these live pictures, john, by the way, as you speak. and as you were speaking to those supporters in the motorcade, now it appears to have reached downtown miami or no, i can't tell you from, from where i'm standing. and from where the camera is and the angle that we have, i can't tell us. so the us president has left his vehicle or not, but certainly the motorcade has stopped. we're seeing now we're seeing what appears to be law enforcement walking around the motorcade. so it does appear that they are very close indeed either to the court house itself or to the parking lot. allen, just run us, run us through what you were telling us just
8:54 pm
a moment ago that we are probably not going to see alan. uh, the, the president's walk out, he's probably not going to actually be in view of the cameras, although as i say this, and let me, let me put this to john actually as i say this, john, i don't know if you could hear me. we were not expecting until right now to see donald trump as he makes his way into port. yes, it was. we didn't know whether that was going to happen in new york. we didn't see a lot of president trump. we know, as a said earlier that there is an underground entrance to this court, but it was, you know, the donald trump. i'd like to get for a moment. donald, this may be part of this effort just to show that kind of fearless defiance that he has been showing all along. the secret service aren't advising him to do this
8:55 pm
because their number one job is to make sure that wow, this is a proud that is largely great from pictures and never know who is going to be hanging out around here. they've been the presidents in the past run into negative incidents in public places like this. but my guess is if we're seeing donald trump right now, because he wants to be see you make very good points. so we're not and just to be clear because you probably can't see what i'm seeing, but we're not, we don't see him right now. we just see that the motorcade has stopped. clearly he is in the vicinity. he's in, he's downtown. he's in miami downtown near the courthouse, but i couldn't tell you from this angle exactly where and exactly how far from the federal courthouse or whether we actually will see him in view of the cameras in the, in the coming moments or not. john, there's, there's so many angles to this story that we're going to unpack over the next hour and frankly, over the next few days. but of course the nature one is how this is impacting the
8:56 pm
countries politics. because this is happening at the heart of an election. cecily donald trump, of course, is campaigning for the republican nomination. he wants to run again for president, and he's the front runner. what's your assessment of how this could impact his campaign? it's extraordinary. if you listen to trump himself, he says this whole numbers is internal numbers taken by his people have gone out since these happen. and we've got a reason to believe that because in the past, when trump is gotten into trouble, his fan base has rallied around him and he's been sending out multiple fundraising emails every day since his indictment happened. and there were a forward series. fundraising is drying up some why he's always had a very powerful fundraising machine. but events like this tend to galvanize those supporters who keep money, how it is defiance in support of drugs. and it looks like he may be experiencing
8:57 pm
that right now. the latest phone number showing him actually gaining on rhonda sanchez, his mirror as rival for the republican presidential nomination. these entities somewhere between 19 and 21 percent or so depending on the polls, trump is as high as 60 percent in many polls over 50 percent, meaning you could win out right, the republican nomination if it were taken. now, based on those polos now back election is more than a year away. there's a long time between now and then he's been indicted twice. and there are other potential criminal consequences for him to face in georgia and elsewhere. and some of that may eventually start to drag on him, but right now it doesn't seem to be hurting him at all. right, john, thank you so much for all of that. please standby, i want to go back to alan fish. and now i was just arizona and fisher who's also outside the courthouse. ellen, i'm a quick court perhaps on the timing of this. do we have any sense of how long this
8:58 pm
trial might take? because of course, that becomes very politically sensitive. as we get closer to the presidential election of the well, this court is known for processing cases very quickly in the us. trials tend to take sadly over 9 months and sometimes more than a year. but here this is nor locally as the rocket docket court, the docket being who's on the docket with what charges. so they are hoping and the believe that they could possibly set a date for this in about 6 months time. now that would be very quick by american standards. it would also not suit donald trump very much either because he would like to string this out. because of course, if he goes to trial, he's convicted, then he ends up in jail. and it's difficult to conduct an election campaign, and there's no telling how many people might lead face campaign and leave the
8:59 pm
supporting of his campaign. if they realize that he's not going to be able to be in a boat. and campaigning the way that you would normally, you would also like to delete it so that he could perhaps when the election and give them self a party and free himself from prison. or if he doesn't get the nomination, then perhaps someone like one desantis would when both the nomination and beat joe biden. and then he has promised to part and donald trump's on tapes and donald trump's interest to string this out. so the idea that this is going to be, how did the rocket doki court is not good news for donald trump? he's making, as we obviously here. and there are still lots of people around. in fact, when they thought he was going to come into the interest, but you can see, you know, camera. now, lots of people run over in that direction in the hope of getting a glimpse of donald trump and add right to me about the time when he was in the hospital at the walter reed hospital when he contract a corporate. and he went for that short call right on people run forever. we are
9:00 pm
hoping to get close to the road and hoping to get a glimpse of donald trump. that is the the sort of tool he has orders. supporters who are here certainly that hundreds, perhaps not doing now around a 1000. as for the court itself, we're not expecting him to be in there for very long, perhaps just as long, but his legal team to argue that this case should be thrown out. and so now it's immediately, he is accompanied by the man who is this valley, who's also facing charges of conspiracy that according to the charges when he was asked by the f b i, if he'd move the documents, he said no one had no idea how they managed to end up in a box and i, they have video footage, they see of him actually moving those documents. and suddenly certainly some people have wondered why he would put himself in such a legal jeopardy of facing dozens of years in jail to support donald trump. in what .
