reveals, top electro quote has voted to bob on the presidential able's narrow from running the office until the 2013 and protests in iraq over the beginning of the koran and by man protected by police in sweden. the welcome to the program. we begin in france way, a french president, a manual, and the crown has held a 2nd crisis meeting with ministers as he faces mounting pressure it to declare a state of emergency. that's after a 3rd consecutive night of fun and protest triggered by the shooting of a teenager by police. always 900 people have been arrested sofa and the crown has stopped shows of cooling for a state of emergency. because of the 2 nights we've just had, it's a situation that absolutely unacceptable. nothing can justify violence, especially when it consists of attacking public buildings,
8:02 pm
town holes and police stations in schools. nothing justifies have a to the address to spread beyond paris and its suburbs. public building shops and vehicles have been targeted from little in the north to my say in the south vehicles will set on fire from leon in the aisd to, to lose simple doe in the west buttons also spread to brussels in neighboring belgium. where a doesn't demonstrate is what to change them. that's bringing poll brennan, who joins us from the powers sub of, of known to pull. it's just past 7 pm where you are and more police are being deployed. so another non of violence is expected. i think it's highly likely given the evidence of what we've seen over the past 3 nights and certainly the way the tension is starting to ramp up a little bit here. and on ted, it's been a quite a hot sunshine the, this area here where there was vandalism,
8:03 pm
and the bank just over to my left was set on fire 24 hours ago. it seemed quiet during the day, but now it's just, there's an edge to it. now the kids on motor bikes have been patrolling this present and yet is just get the sense that's something cuz it is ramping up. certainly the violence that we saw across paris in places like we've already valley and all that also shut them a uh, shopping center is now being seen in daylights as well. uh, the is a couple of shopping miles down to the south of the city of paris in places like cuts a uh was the t a where the people dressed in black, much like that, seen i use just passes on this on the screw, to store them through the shopping mouth uh, grabbing stuff as they went to secure the jobs, both help us to prevent them. they're just moving to quick. i'm place no, i have to be seen. and the police eventually arrived on the scene,
8:04 pm
but frontier likes it, effectively, do anything. so there is a defensive, another nights of unpredictable fluid, potentially violence action in store and pull more news today. there's been an apology from the police officer responsible for the side or shooting through. he's lawyer, has that had any impact and it's, it's not, i'm not seeing any evidence that that's having an impact. there's a couple of reasons for that. first of all, i just say it came through the lawyer because a police officer himself, the suspect is a homicide. suspect, being held in prison in central powers at the moment, on the apology, came through the lawyer on a general co pay of mtv, which is not a channel that is well regarded, particularly in places like this in on to so uh, the mazda. busy uh now m, the boy that was shots. um a said the okay. and she doesn't believe that the whole police force is racist. but certainly she thinks the brakes play the pos and that's particular

a police officer pulling the trigger on the united nations in geneva as also chipped in today saying that the roof. but basically, this is an opportunity for friends to start to tackle what your employees has a problem with racist behavior among french police offices, un reminding of the world that there was a report on in december of last year talking about a real disproportionate use of id checks and stuff checks against people of a sudden background. people who are black people are up and reminding but the actually this scenario, the situation with us 3 nights and potentially going on 4 or 5 nights is an opportunity to actually start to look at this problem. within the police ranks. all right, well we'll cross back to throughout the evening. thanks to the uptake po brennan in non to moving on now. and the un security council has voted to end its pace, keeping mission in molly. the draft resolution received 15 votes in favor. molly accuses the pace capers are fueling tensions,

and wants them to leave thousands of you and troops have been that for decades. diplomatic. it is a james phase has been following the vote closely from the united nations. of the timeline in the resolution is that they should have a plan to withdraw all of the peacekeepers. by the end of this year, by the 31st of december, the reverse stages in the resolution of the timeline and then type as a document to read you re produced by the u. n. so i could show an attorney to terrace full the security council with more details on the withdrawal and drill down plan. and the security council wants to see that by august the 15th. but as a say, the plan to get everyone out of by the end of the year, in terms of all of the peacekeepers and most of the what they do, the heavy equipment that they use and dispensing that basis. that would then be a phase off to the end of the cold, the liquidation phase, when the u. n. sells off the remaining equipment and other assets, but basically it's over the municipal emission uh in terms of its current form of

the well, yes. so for our present tables and out of just gave an interview, of course, claiming that he's innocent saying that this decision was a step in his back. so he, he, of course, that that means this decision means that he won't be able to run for office until 2030. does that mean that it's the end for him though he can still appeal to the supreme court, although it's highly improbable that it will overturn the decision of making him eligible, which was by 5 votes in favor of his in eligibility. and to against monica, even though it's an i e. ben, it's likely both in our will still continue to dominate politics, isn't it? well, yes, he is. as a matter of fact, i has already started campaigning for the 2024 municipal elections.

8:12 pm
and as long as it's cost the objection split the publish and some gary and governments have put so it was pretty simple. they didn't believe that the deal in looks in the truck at 3 weeks ago where a financial value is placed on the lives of people teams to be a regular migrants arriving in the you. they don't believe that that is the way ahead of who is present. it is said he believes that europe's quote is on the site . what it shows is that they're all countries who really don't agree with this attitude. these are the migration and it shows also how difficult it is for the youth to get consent to a position to run, which everybody can agree. certainly, that's how it spends out here. but that deal is most imperiled by the fact that the payment was arrived. when it came out as they are process. thank you. morehead on al jazeera, including us supreme court blocks president joy biden's plan to cancel $430000000000.00

welcome back to what you know to 0. i'm emily. i'm going to use a reminder about top stories. the sound, french president menu on the phone is held across as meeting with ministers up to 3 nights of rights treated by the killing of a teenager by a police officer. the crown has stopped shows of declaring a state of the measurements. the judges have larger to ban brazil's former president john and both scenarios from public office majority and the like to try being. busy rude boston are abused. his panel when he questioned brazil's election system and the un security council has voted to and its pays keeping mission in molly, it will withdraw its forces by the end of the year, molly or chooses to pace. cape is a fueling tensions and wants them to link in another blower to president joy bind in the us supreme court has just rejected his plans to cancel the $430000000000.00 of student loan debt from our list to let speak to. she have

returns the she have talk us through the details of this particular court ruling and what it means for students with that. the question was whether the heroes act of 2003, which gives the education of 2nd 3. the ability to waive student up payments in the event of an emergency except as a public was a clickable for a programs abiding. announce to, to forget $400000000.00. i look forward to put in dollars a student that's for those adding less than $125000.00 a year. they would get up to $20000.00 of that so. so given that would affect some 40000000 bar was the cause of the majority of the court said no, he did not have that authority under the heroes acts we've just to the present bible should be speaking within the hour to address this totally young verses of every key to is re election campaign. this is a key campaign promise. i'm in the loss of extra already young versions that he
8:17 pm
didn't do, but keep a lot of other promises on environment and, and equitable developments and so on. so we're being told that he's going to be saying that he's not downsizing yet, but it was interesting just talking to some student leaders as an young youth leaders that thing we don't want us to be a campaign or shooting of extra we want and we enjoy that sure. now there are other options we can 1st, there do be the higher education act, divide in 65, which are all good, but you should have used in the past space. if he doesn't do anything, before repayments, begin, and october. you'll be hearing from best buy site and then, and now the supreme court decision is limited to l g b t q plus protections with the ruling in favor of a web designer. what's the background of this case? a fascinating case, web designer in colorado and she says she wants to expand a business to include marriage websites. however, she's that they've angelica per student. she says she doesn't believe in same sex marriage or colorado has a little not allowing discrimination, but goods and businesses and services. or she would have to have to have funds who
8:18 pm
would want, for example, accept uh, 21, a website, a celebration of same sex marriage. she doesn't believe in same sex marriage. she says her 1st amendment, freedom of speech rights, constitutionally protected rights, have been a big effect to them because she's effectively being co left to say something that she does not believe in. once again, that conservative authority, 63 agreed with her. but of course it hasn't, nobody's ramifications and defense stuff to so they might well said, well, this clearly makes eligibility 2 thirds already a 2nd class citizen. so i have the 2nd person from the state of the us or something, goods and services, but is also the debate of how far can this guy, what is expressive activities, like what like websites? does that also mean that someone can say, well, my religious beliefs, me, i don't believe in him in the interracial marriage or jewish marriage on so what other services could be effective? this is going to have legislation following it would appear in the us to go yes. certainly those rooms, occasions will be vast. thank you so much for the update she had pretends he still
8:19 pm
on his story. and joining us live from washington, dc. is melanie sloane, she's an attorney with expertise and government ethics and a full month federal prosecutor. melanie, thanks so much for being on the program. we've seen the supreme court make 3 controversial decisions in the past couple of days. first, the student loans as we had from she had. then they've stopped the family of action used to allocate school admissions. and now we have the latest decision on l, g, b, t, q plus rights. it seems that conservative certainly have the momentum at the moment . don't thing a hey, absolutely do it is quite a radical shift in american jurisprudence and it will have a huge impact on americans everywhere. and in addition, it further when's a problems to their legitimacy of the court, which has already been the popularity of the court has already been going down. it previously was, we were in a place where people didn't have confidence in both the white house and congress,
8:20 pm
but the court always had, was in good repute. and now it's really going to take a further meeting. melanie, despite the courts and limited federal elected pallet, they're making biden's life particularly difficult. what will be the ramifications of these raising decisions specifically for minority groups? i think it remains to be seen. i mean, with affirmative action, the university decision right away, we'll see a decrease in admissions of black and hispanic students to schools. they're also talking about new challenges to racial preferences at high schools. so there will be new uh, new lawsuits about that. and we will probably see decreases in students attending those kind of schools. these are the major decisions. but the one thing that, that i think that does going based biden's favor here is we're going to be going into an election season. and these kinds of cases are going to galvanize liberals
8:21 pm
and progressives and get them to the polls. and it will be less galvanizing for conservatives who feel like they're getting what they want from the court. and what other issues, if any, should we be watching closely with this particular makeup of the court? i mean, now there are issues such as gun control and, and climate change likely to be impacted. i believe the court has just decided it is going to take up a new case regarding gun control that has previously prohibited people who have been convicted of domestic violence offences from having guns. and now they're going to reconsider that. that seems like that will inevitably, we already have such a huge problem with gun deaths in america and allowing people with domestic violence convictions to potentially have greater access to weapons. seems like a recipe for disaster. but the court has also been a pure a stun gun rights, just like it is on this 1st amendment issue. what action can president barton taken all of this? what? what can he do in terms of regaining some of that control?
8:22 pm
well, i think on the student get issue, he will be back before congress pushing them to relieve student debt. and it will put congress in difficult position. congress hasn't wanted to do that, but that will be a uh, important political issue going into the 2024 election. so i'm sure that's the 1st thing he'll do. i'm not sure what he can do about the formative action decision. i think we will see college and university scrambling to find new ways to ensure that their classes are indeed diverse. and just as roberts hinted, that there was still a way to do that. we'll see people using their personal as a, in a more creative way to include more information about their race. because just as roberts students at universities had an interest in having diverse classes. so i think we'll see people scrambling on that side and on the issue of the l g b t. case with the website. i think that is a really scary decision in america because it does allow both l g b,
8:23 pm
t 2 people to be treated as 2nd class citizens. it will be okay to discriminate against them as long as you claim its on religious grounds. and then as the report are stated earlier, it's hard to see exactly where that line is drawn. if somebody says their religious belief is what prevents, allows them to discriminate against anybody. it's hard to see how this court wouldn't allow that. and indeed, we really appreciate your insights. thanks so much. melanie sloan and attorney with expertise in government ethics, thank you for everyone. not to pack us down, which is set to get a $3000000000.00 buyout from the international monetary fund. the country is on the brink of default and his shows on foreign cash reserves. inflation is storing and the value of the roof. he has promised it. it means pakistan is struggling to afford imports. months of political turmoil has limited foreign investments. come out, honda has more from his lemma that and what is being held as a breakthrough by the focus on your daughter to the international monetary fund and
