a private plane of production crash, a lot of them. now russian mercenaries belonging to the wagner group has been active in west africa and recent years. in fact, progression released his latest video, reportedly from molly. i'll just here, as nicholas hawk has more on their reactions from dot com. i spoke to officials from the central african republic for the back. the group has been active for a number of years at key allies to the government there to fight off the arm groups . they say they are in morning. there is rolling information on local news about his death, also the same feeling in these year where there was a qu recently. and where am i? the supporters of the crew were waving russian flags that were hoping for the intervention of vag. are they also greatly disappointed with the announcement of his desk? and last but not least, is molly, where there are up to 2000 wagner fighters, active working with the 1000000 miller children to. and that's where a precaution made his last video address,
7:06 am
saying that he was there to free africans from the tax of arm groups linked to al qaeda. and i so i knew was calling on the russian fighters to join his call. he was there just a day ago meeting with at the monument i teach in to see me going to now with his dad. the question is, who are they going to be able to speak to? it is a said back for the countries that have used the wagner group as an ally and the value group has also been key for russia to extend its influence on the african continent. but there was a sigh of relief in paris or in washington dc where they saw the extension of the vaca group in africa as a threat. nicholas hawk algae 0. the car, or the alternate or other top story republicans helping to be their party's not many in the next us presidential election have held their 1st debate. 8 candid is qualified

debate of the 2024 season began as a verbal wrong. and it just continued that way. now, going into this debate, it seemed to many people like the guy with the target on his back would have been florida governor rhonda santa advanced because he is a distant 2nd to trump in those polls about 40 points behind. but what really played out today was that there was a newcomer who a found best, a newcomer, a little reminiscent of the 2016 campaign who kept countering the other candidates on point after point. and they went after him time and time again. and that was back from his swami, who is a biotech entrepreneur 38 years old and he disagreed with the others on a trunk to be supported on many issues on the war and crane. she said was unnecessary and issue after issue when it came to climate change. he was an hour,
7:09 am
right. denial. he said it was a hoax. and from there rhonda sanders got a word in edgewise, fear in their former vice president mike pens defended his administration. he defended what he did on january 6th, 2021. when he refused to help trump overturn that election and he got support from a number of other candidates. some of them were critical of trump. here's what a couple of them had to say. mike pence stood for the constitution and he deserves not rushing right. he deserves our fax as americans for putting his oath of office and the constitution of the united states before posted all political and unfair pressure. and the argument that we need to have in this party before we can move on to the issues that ron talked about,
7:10 am
is we have to dispense with the person who said that we need to suspend the constitution to put forward his political career. mike pride said no, pretty deserves credit for i do think the vice president pens did the right thing and i do think that we need to give him credit for that. but what i will also tell you is, well, i mean when it comes to whether president trump should serve or not, i trust the american people let them both, let them decide what they will tell you with it. it is time for a new generational. conservative leader, we have to look at the fact that 3 quarters of americans don't want a re match between trump and bind, and we have to face the fact that trump is the most disliked politician in america . we can when a general election that way. so those 2 candidates, informa, arkansas, governor, asia, hutchinson, more critical of trump. they were often food as they said,
7:11 am
those things. why many of the other candidates were largely silent and there's good reason for that. and that's because trump has such a large support in that maggot base of the republican party and over 50 percent support in most polos from republicans. the other, you didn't want to take him on for fear that that maggot base would turn against them, as they often did in the room, as they booed while he was talking. so they have a catch 22 there where they are trying to gain points on trump without directly criticizing. and kimberly, how much though is donald trump's electability an issue? and to that, and given his advanced stage, given jo bivens advanced age. and really that was a bit of a target was it is the fact that the president is older and, and his policies to that was a big theme in this evening's debate as well, wasn't it? of the bench right now? the question was asked whether there should be a mental fitness in
7:12 am
a physical fitness test. the president, most of the candidates seem not to agree that there should be one, like 10 said there shouldn't be one to the voters with this side. and that was a broad side against the current president, joe biden, of course is you know, well, but it also implicitly is critical of trump. and that's where of effect from swami jumped in again and said that there should be a new generation of leaders in the republican party. and trump didn't necessarily get a full voice criticism from several of those candidates. but he also wasn't getting a whole lot of support either. i think they were taking advantage of the fact that he wasn't there. so the analyst, i talked to afterwards that he could benefit aid from showing up at this event by defending himself. because the, the criticisms were direct in some cases, but other times as in the case of his age and his indictments, they were implicit. kimberly, all right, john, 100 and to our new service,
7:13 am
the highlights from that republican debate. thank you so much appreciate that. we're going to continue on this jason. albert is a republican strategist and attorney. he joins us live from maryville, tennessee. let's pick up on that point that john 100 and was talking about there. the some of the candidates raised the electability issue of donald trump. it was raised by those candidates saying that that's why they need to be made the can to that. what do you make of that? didn't they make that case to the american public? a hi. kimberly, thanks for having me on. on, denied. i don't know if they made the case per se tonight, but as the case has been made every day and the media is what the population united states does not want. every poll says they want other options outside of joe biden . and donald trump's and the only candidate, well, i guess don't have one on that stage. the only candid running for present a republican party that the is out performed by joe biden is donald trump. so it's
7:14 am
true that if he is republican nominates, not only will republicans lose the white house elections, they will also lose down ballots and will have a harder time regaining this uh and some of the quite possibly lose the house again and state legislatures across the country. we know that when it comes to younger voters, that a lot of them in the united states, according to polls have said that some of their concerns that the republicans seem to have an edge when it comes to abortion issues. when it comes to l. g, b, t q issues. and these are going to be a challenge for republicans. how much were the candid, is able to address that in this debate? that i think the abortionist use of the public and party has to come to terms with i think that's a number of the governors have the right answer of letting the states decide that's really what this experiment is about. in our, in our countries, we're 50 independent laboratories of democracy like thomas jefferson said, and what the, the, the decision of to return roby white to the states is just that. so let's allow
7:15 am
states to determine how the, how they decide abortion it'll eventually work is way back up into the federal legislature and congress. but right now is the time to be collaborative amongst the states. but the states decide for themselves and look, it takes time, right? like anything that is the candidates were convincing. when it came to that, who do you think may have the strongest case and stood out on that issue? and i think the person who always turns out the most of the issue of lights is, is my pets. i think the other tenants just chose not to address it as strongly as he did, but that's who he's always been and he's gonna be, he's always going to be mike pence. and when it comes to this debate over all the fact that donald trump wasn't there, and the fact that you know within 24 hours, his mug shot is going to be splattered across american television screens is the fear that all of this, the oxygen that was generated from this debate is simply going to be moved. once that mug shot is on splattered across american newspapers. i think that's an
7:16 am
excellent question. look, i think that benefit is probably the most because he also had a terrible night and, and was really taken to task by nikki haley when, what's gonna be the most memorable moment of debate and what's to be played over and over again in the morning. so the sooner that donald trump mug shot comes up on television tomorrow, the better will be for direct around his mom if he wants his campaign to continue. all right, jason, ever republicans strategies attorney from maryville, tennessee? thanks for joining us here. now 20. that's all right, we're going to continue with our own steve clements host of the bottom line here and als, is there a weekly us politics show? so so founding editor at large of digital media platform seminar, he joins us some a for robbery, joins us live from new york. steve gray just talked to you as always we always have fun. hi. kimberly. yeah. talk to me a little bit about who's political futures on shaky ground right now, who got oxygen from this debate. and all of them are on shaky ground that we saw on stage the night. donald trump,
7:17 am
in my view one because he didn't need to be there and he knew he didn't need to be there. he did loom large in the questions that were asked others and. and while they tried not to mention his name, you know, it's sort of like that eminem song, you know, when he said, hey, if i'm not there, you're still gonna be talking about me. and so i think donald trump did not get any knock out blow, or even a definitive kind of opposition for most of the candidates up there and even those that, that challenge him like nikki haley over inflation or press christy over january 6 . but we're not able to distance themselves. does that make lee across a lot of other issues? and so, you know, donald trump did wells, and i, even though he was not there, that promise swami is sort of of being, um, they all went after him and, you know, the rules and debate is, you know, the more they come after the climber you the more they fear you, and so the fact is, is a bright, energetic, if not well informed,
7:18 am
you know, rising star and the republican party had a lot of energy and he didn't mimic so many of donald trump's views. that in a way he came out quite well. i'm those that are, you know, in trouble, right? like me it looks like uh, rhonda sanders might be in trouble and maybe also tim scott, a well i a randa santis. clearly, i think there were expectations for hire that he was going to play more and have more of a definitive, you know, sound bites and various things he looked to meet tonight. i mean, it was kind of odd given, you know, other behaviors we've seen, tim scott didn't really take any one he sort of floated on. but you know, i think tim scott, you know, sees himself playing a long game right now and didn't see this the moment. do you know, differentiate himself in that market? so i don't know, but 8 hutchinson, you know, didn't hurt. yeah. burn. uh, excuse me, the north carolina upstate north dakota governor uh burnham, i apologize for mispronouncing his name. he was,
7:19 am
he was sort of out of it as well. so there are a couple of them that i think that we will not see in future debates. but at the end of the day, and this is the question i asked our last analyst is any of this going to matter? was donald trump's mug shot makes headlines? do you know? i think it matters because in a way, i kind of liked this debate because you saw the differences and shades of gray between the candidates give a lot of republicans and a lot of other americans watching this. and so they see there are differences on ukraine. they see there's a difference between 6 week bands and abortion in 15 week bands on abortion, or whether there ought to be a federal prohibition on abortion at all versus states, right. the here differences, the view on ukraine doing that, then it educate tional and, and i think it's large pretty healthy when it comes to picking the next president united states. this is bill so early. i don't think this debate really mattered. we didn't see that much separation in the field, and donald trump is still just way way, way,
7:20 am
way out ahead or we just hope that the american voters are paying attention and listening. all right. uh steve clemens, it's always it's great to talk to you soon to be okay. thanks. kimberly a site to take a short break, but still head on al jazeera india and make space history becoming the 1st country to land a spacecraft on the moon's south pole. stay with us, the peddler. they will have a look at africa in the name of the 1st to the middle east. and despite the rising heat, we have seen some unusual stormy weather sweep into the south west of saudi arabia . stormy conditions with lightning strikes effecting places like mecca. the good news is that has eased things of quite the down, but the heat continues to build 41 degrees celsius the on thursday,
7:21 am
we'll see that replicated. so the east of this in a rock as well as q 8, we could touch 51 degrees celsius thursday into friday launch the dry and hot picture for much of the region. a slight wind could kick up some dust as we goes into friday, around some of the gulf of states, but temperature is picking up. and that should mean that the humidity will ease. there's not much in the way of rain here and that's similar across the central band of africa. less rain than we normally see for this time. if you had just some thunderstorms rushing across nigeria into southern parts of nature. much wyatt for the north shot was coming in full morocco, but we'll see a return of the heat engine is the a tune is seeing $37.00 degrees celsius on friday, and the heat continues to be the story down the cool southern parts of africa. but things are looking much cooler in cape town. on friday. the

looking at live pictures right there. and we, what we can tell you is that there is a plan to release the tree to of water from the plant. this is the water that had been used to cool the reactors following the earthquake that occurred in march of 2011 and the subsequent. so nami, that occurred, leading to the fact that there was a, that disaster, the of the, a super shaven nuclear power plant at one that was so significant, the one that we've not seen since the 1986 tr noble disaster. and this was something that was as significant in that this was a nuclear disaster that was of enormous proportion. this was leading to a need to have this water cooling the coils in japan. this has allowed this water to treat it. it is something that has been held in these containers for some time.
7:25 am
the water now we are told by the un agency, safe enough to be released, but opposed by a large number of countries as well as japanese fisherman. and today, now you're looking at the live pictures that water being released as we speak. so this is something that has been planned, but again, great opposition by a large number of countries in the region as well. donald trump's advisor has surrendered to authorities in georgia, rudy giuliani, trump and 17 others are accused or fried to overturn the results of the 2020 us presidential election in the states. i'll de 0 is alan fischer reports for us from atlanta. a man who made his political name chasing the bosses of organized crime that's photographed and fingerprinted in a georgia county jail. rudy giuliani was one of donald trump's top live tenants. a

he'll plead not guilty to charges. he was at the center of abroad criminal conspiracy to try to change the result of the election. and it was here in an online interview on wednesday evening. he again criticized the legal case against them. the people say it's a fraud. the people see it like this horrible district attorney from justice a little while ago from essentially, atlanta is fulton county. and she said basically, i don't have any right to challenge an election, but basically they're showing me and they're saying you don't have any right to challenge and of your challenge of the election. we're going to indict you and put you in jail protest. there's and supporters have started together at the courthouse and the deal both pushing their own points of view. i don't know, donald trump and get a fair trial in atlanta. i mean, he had uh only 23 percent of the fulton county that voted for him. i mean, i would like to see him. i would like to see it moved to a different uh,

i guess to be in new york ever. so he can get there tomorrow. donald trump is expected here in georgia on thursday evening. some suggest the reason for the late arrival is to avoid traffic in new jersey and here in georgia. but the more cynical suggest is because donald trump wants to hit prime time television in the united states. all the fisher, i'll just eat a adelanto. finally, india has become the 1st country to successfully land a craft near the moon, south pole, private, a surrender body called it an historic day. barbara and gopher reports to the pools at mission control, the southern indian city have been to the people applauding as india is 10 grand 3 manda successfully touch down and doing the south pole in the may.
