normalizing ties, the saudi arabia, we must not give the palestinians a veto over new peace treaties with arab states. russia says you kindly, and this also struck the headquarters of its blacks, the fleeting crimea or us democratic senator and his wife were charged with bribery and have the nicest proportions on far as my with the sport will have the latest from the rest, the world cup in from the snow are taking on argentina and a full d match and sent at all the action coming out later in the program. the when we begin in the occupied palestinian territories with yet another day, thousands of palestinians have been injured off to coming under his way. the file. it happened during demonstrations near the gauze of boulder. again,

state is right. the restrictions on palestinian workers from the deceased enclave is right, is also conducted as strikes in the area away from gauze on the israel is crippling . 16 year long blockade. prime minister benjamin netanyahu told the un general assembly as well as on the brink of a deal with saudi arabia, a direct and open message about the potential normalization agreement without any clear indication of an end to the occupation of palestinians. i've long sought to make peace with the palestinians, but i also believe that we must not give the palestinians a veto over new peace treaties with arab states. the palace digits could greatly benefit from a broader please. they should be part of that process, but they should not have a veto over the process. and i also believe that making piece was more arab states

would actually increase the prospect of making peace between israel and the palestinians. so the power steering is only 2 percent of the world in just a moment. we'll go to patrick calhane at the united nations 1st that's talk to them . the site is covering those protests knew that gaza is route for defense and human a. let's start with these right the as strikes. what prompted these right, the strikes and not totally fine. well, the air strikes that a targeted or bob, the 3 observation points belonging to how much israel says came in response to the incendiary balloons. that's where set towards israel by the protesters protesting long because the ease really. # border is uh now at least 2 people where uh, injured in those uh, air strikes and artillery shells on those uh military or on those observation uh

points. and its been a bloody day for palestinians with mold and 1st he pro testers. policy in protest is wound advise, ready, 5, take us through what prompted these demonstrations just to intensify again that the gallons of water? well, hello scenes here in gauze that will tell you that they have many reasons to protest at the borders. the process started earlier a week ago when the is really a jewish settlers start to approve bull king uh the uh, the palestinians as an upset compound the violence against the worshippers by the use really forces. and oxygen was the storming of these are the forces to the occupied with bank cities. and last but not least, the closure of the air is crossing,
9:05 pm
bending all the wordpress from gaza to cross to their work places and jobs to in the occupied west bank. and uh and uh, israel uh, not to forget the stifling is really located, that's the policy and because i have been living under, so these are so many reasons that the policy is hearing cause that have to make them angry to make the say that's protesting. along the borders is the only way to voice to the world, their frustration and or anger towards the ease really violations against them. all right, thanks so much. you're going to say that from gauze. busy let's continue this with kathy call haines. she's live at the united nations following a speech by then. you mean next in yahoo earlier today. and the events going on and gaza really don't help that presentation by, but then you mean nothing you know about how he can make
9:06 pm
a deal with the out of world with saudi arabia, while the occupation continues. right? the well, i think what's really going to matter here is not the reaction necessarily for at the united nations or even the hundreds of protesters your approach as students fees. i think what's going to matter is the re action and the error of capitals that have normalize relations with israel. he came here really, almost boasting about the fact that he was able to make a deal. the abrams, of course, with 4 countries to normalize relations, even though he didn't have to make peace with the palestinians, now just keep it in context. what's happening right now? according to the united nations, $200.00 pounds citizens have been killed this year. a thirty's riley's the year and report came up just yesterday that said is really subtle. violence has displaced over 1100 palestinians. think about all of the raids we're seeing from his really
9:07 pm
forces, again to settle or violence. and the continued attacks on tele, city and people. net. yeah. okay. it's probably minister, but benjamin netanyahu came to the united nations, say, see, we can normalize relations now with those not only with those, we have the possibly, with saudi arabia. and he really seemed to be down playing the plight of the palestinians. he said specifically, israel deserves the state of its own. and you heard him just there say, palestine makes up only 2 percent of the era world. so basically sending the message that he thinks he can continue on this path is very right when path, where they've just taken out the idea of a 2 state solution according to the guiding principles of his coalition. and he can still make peace. and one of the things you sort of do that was if the palestinians don't believe that the error world is against israel, he'll be much more likely to make concessions. all right, we'll leave it there. thanks so much patsy. call haines. joining us live from new york city is on the roof mine. he's
9:08 pm
a fellow at the middle east council on global affairs. good to have you with us. so i 1st question, does it look to you like indeed he may not to me. i was on the verge of a deal with savvy review. first of all, thanks for having me. i think despite what nothing yahoo says that an agreement is right around the corner. and there's definitely undeniable momentum behind this process. i think the path to get there is not simple or straightforward at all, all the major stakeholders to this. and there really are for including saudi arabian israel. there's also the united states, which is pushing for the agreement and the offering the concessions for it. and the palestinians who are also there, they all have shifting priorities. they all have a domestic political considerations. so, you know, america can't just deliver to the saudis. um, you know, security guarantees binding security guarantees or movement on the new killer file . you know, these railways can't just deliver to the palestinians,
9:09 pm
what the saudis may be asking for, or the government in israel would collapse easily because of the far right extreme is in the government. not to mention, not to mention nothing you know has on politics. and the, the saudis, you know, they might not be able to deliver to the us what the us, as seeking from them in terms of curbing their relationship with china. so there are a lot of moving parts here. i think finding that kind of formula that fits all these things together is exceedingly difficult and getting the parties there in the like, you know, in the window of time is going to be very difficult as well as when talking are thoughts coming in about people being injured, wounded by is very far in gaza, doesn't this on the school really the, the difficulty of the idea of savvy may be doing a deal while the occupation of palestinians continues. i think that's always been the difficult consideration. i mean, going back decades,
9:10 pm
of course, with the occupation in place and what's happened in palestine. i think, you know, these rarely is, and the americans and a few of the, our countries were able to bypass that in the kind of, as i tied to the moment a few years ago in 2020, with the trump presidency, with what was happening with the ron and maximum pressure and all that kind of stuff, but it's always been a consideration and i think that's kind of come back to bite to a to small extent, at least those countries that move forward with normalization, with israel, including the not their members, who in some sense of a felt very uncomfortable over the past few years, especially under this current is really government, which includes, you know, some of the most extreme elements of israeli society and their desire to really crush the palestinians. and so that's been difficult and it's going to be difficult . it's going to continue to be a problem and an obstacle in negotiations with the saudis. now those, i mean, the saudis won't go forward or find some kind of formula. but you know, this is not going anywhere. this file, no matter what small pigeons, the saudis are able to get if they decide to go through and deal with the
9:11 pm
palestinians. because you know, the palestinians will remain under occupation and a deepening a part time that the whole world is, recognize it. and you know, that's going to make it things, you know, chronic instability, chronic violence, chronic problems. that will always be a problem for those countries who have normalize relations with israel because the rest of the world sees that and the rest of their world, the publics do not support that. and then you mean nothing. yeah, i was also talking about his plan for re shaping the mid least. how much of that though? it can be impacted by the fragility of these really government and political scene right now. and the fact that we're not to fall from elections coming up in the us. sure, again, i think i mentioned this a little earlier. there are domestic political considerations for all the parties, but especially for these rallies. i mean, nothing out did not mention the constitutional self inflicted constitutional crisis
9:12 pm
that he's facing his own country. the protests, any protestors flew from tel aviv to new york, the protest in front of the un, their own prime minister. not to mention, obviously what's happening in, in washington. and this is a, you know, a domestic political consideration for the united states. i think there's a little bit of that element of, here's an achievement we can make in electoral politics, although i don't know how valuable that actually is. but certainly ahead of the elections, the ability for the united states to give the saudis what they want a laundry list of things because exceedingly difficult at about an election because, you know, particularly the democrats, many of them don't support the us government, giving concessions to saudi arabia so that becomes a heightened issue head of an election as well as you know, everything else that's going on. so it's, it's not straightforward and domestic politics will certainly complicate those things. all right, thank you so much. good to get your thoughts on that. i'm a rough mind, a tiny mall still ahead on the news out,

including lots needed international aid. the rise olivia's floods by that eastern region us president joe biden to have in the country's 1st addict on violence prevention office. at its full, the chinese city of one jo gets ready to host the 19th asian games record number of estimates is set to take cost. we'll have to build up later in the show, the russian says ukrainian missiles of targeted the headquarters of the black sea fleet and crime in the russian defense system, shot down 5 missiles during the attack and suffice the fall. but black smoke has been seen blowing from the base crime is rushing back to governor as civilians to remain in those and stay away from the city center until further notice. in recent weeks, ukraine has stepped off. it's a tax on russia's navy samples for all the reports from key if

and this will no doubt be something that you training and leaders both political and military will be seeing as a huge success and warnings from leaders here in t. that as long as the russians remain on the peninsula, these attacks will continue. they will carry on and a warning from an official on ukraine's national security council, giving the russians to ways out either to be willingly or to be forced out the same bus robbie, olga 0. and julia shuffles oliver has the reaction from las go now, according to the ministry of defense, the ukrainian armed forces launched a missile attack on the headquarters of the russian block, c fleets. in total, 5 missiles were shown done by defense systems. when military mind went missing, the headquarters building itself separate significant damage. while the civilian is the structure around it and the people on the streets were not homed, the police cold and old the territory around the headquarters. the debris from the

the 1st humanitarian aid since the seas by coming in on friday to meet you met with in co, out to 030. i spoke to marietta to be honest, the amount of goods resident time, the system to the office of the human rights defender of no going to cut off. she told me about the di humanitarian situation. the it is really dramatic on the ground and the most urgent issues are this human lives being impacted by this. we want to really talk, coupled with the consequences of the 9 months located. so why gauge and see here is that people are trying to find some shelter anywhere with which could be safe. and they are mostly without any foods, any special supplies, and any medication, whatever, whatever is that, that it's for the normal lives. so this humanitarian age, which why is that still the case of all these supplies to
9:20 pm
little have you not seen them or what's happening? cuz the other, the officials talked about 2 trucks loaded fully with all kinds of essentials. now at this moment, i cannot confirm that the humanitarian i was deliberate, but so far, the population of our talk has been suffering from most supply of everything that is needed for their life. so there has been no supplies of normal supplies, of anything that is needed for life or 9 months. so after the military attack, people are face even more deprivations and sufferings because of that, what is the situation now with electricity with phone services, internet. and so there is no electricity across the entire arts off for 3 days already. now there are only some, several places in the city which could provides some limited access to internet

where i am currently now. but this is a very rare thing to see. so one of the evening comes the entire a cd and our talk is in darkness. and people are deprived of any opportunity to cool to heat up their places their shelters because it is already called in arkansas. and so it's devastating it's, it's a kaos it's, it's a humanitarian disaster going on and before the eyes of the international community and no action is taken as us sentence above, menendez and his wife have been accused of accepting bribes to benefit egypt. the us attorney's office in manhattan size and then does indulged in a range of corrupt frank. this is including influencing foreign policy to help the egyptian government prosecute the same old and half a $1000000.00 in cash in gold bows were found in his home. menendez says the charges against them. a part of us may

a campaign on to jo castro joins us now live from washington dc. so how much of a set back is this 2 democrats in the senate? hey sammy, so that might be a question for further down the road in that. yes, menendez is up for re election next year. however, this is a pretty blue state state of new jersey. likely he'd be replaced with another democrat if he were not to be re elected all that set aside, though the facts in the allegations laid out in this indictment are quite startling in their far reach. because of course, menendez in his powerful position as chair of the senate foreign relations committee, he is very influential in determining us policy toward any for a nation, of course, including egypt, which is at the center of these allegations. the indictment says that through a friend of menendez, his wife, that there was a meeting set up between menendez and visiting egypt,
9:23 pm
sion officials and which went into shared non public insensitive government information, including the make up of embassy staff in cairo as well as the status of pending military aid to egypt. the indictment also has not only words but the photos of what investigators allegedly found in simon a mendez's home when they searched it. last year, they found bars of gold. they found nearly half a $1000000.00, stopped in envelopes. some of which was stuffed within a jacket that segment under his name on it. and the investigators say that some of these envelopes for the dna of another business associate that they say was part of this corrupt relationship. menendez has denied all of these allegations, saying that he did meet with constituents, but that was part of his regular duties as senator and without saying what, who he says that force is behind the scene or trying to silence his voice, claiming that they see him as an obstacle in their, in their, in their broader political goals,
9:24 pm
so unclear who he is targeting with that. but the prosecutor in this case was appointed by biting a fellow democrat. and that prosecutor has denied any sort of political influence in moving forward with these charges. all right, now he's been indicted. so is this wife? what happens next in the process? yeah, well the senate rules say that anyone who a spacing federal environment has to step down from their leadership position. so that means menendez does have to leave his chairmanship of the foreign affairs for relations committee. he also has a court date now set for september 27th. not only for him, but also for his wife. and also for those 3 business associates were named in the indictment. all right, thanks so much trying to jo castro that how far is these an east?

i don't think so. that will fix challenges coming up. now the kind of only rely on the new big countries, but how much, what do you think would be countries also sort of like provide, look at idea oriented and also bridge issues. there's going to be a spirit of all these groups activities in neighboring countries, which is going to create a very serious years of directions coming for these various. don't want to you, molly. so the june talk, it's in this stage, the funds such as g. s not when it comes to the internal security intra into conflicts with each. i'm books and you're thinking about ethnic groups. we may also raise up. and when you want to come for the monetary process, we can only hold that e. do you want us to keep the costs of what takes this company and then providing stuff, logistics. so these pictures of the same kind of receive your money. cheery on the

system. so what difference has the arrival of the russian wideman group troops made? in my opinion, i think it hasn't been much of anything that we know and read about how research has come up with the activities of water in the body. the active and they have the, the jump to the actual seat, you set up and coming to embody which we are afraid about. so there's nothing the park now i've done that. she would see it says the sex is when it comes to utah. it talk, relations embody itself, so i don't think they expect you to anything embody. all right, we'll leave it there. thanks so much for your analysis on that. this type fonts, it says its uh, humanitarian jersey to rescue people at risk of drowning it. see the head of the roman catholic churches in the french city of mos say he's urging nations to overcome what he calls. a paralysis, a fear about migrants. is comments come in,

the wake of an influx of migrants to your page shows where i last week. thousands of people arrived at a single day on the italian island of lum producer. harry falls at joins us from land, producer and harry posting using very strong language, which is fanaticism and so on. this puts him in somewhat opposition to many powerful forces in europe right now, which are opposed to migration and refugees. so yeah, that's right i'm, i'm not sure if he can still hear me. you just cut out. but so he did on the slide over to my say say that he hoped he would have the coverage to say what he wanted to say on the message that he gave has been a very strong one. he talks about cruelty about a terrible lack of humanity in the way that the migrants were being treated. and that this was something that, that had to change. uh that is a, obviously a pretty implicit,
9:44 pm
pretty explicit really criticism of the way that you repeat and leaders have been tackling the issue, judging maloney they tell them prime minister using the same issues here on line to do that last week. these thousands of people who really so just to show overwhelming the facilities on this very small island to really make the point that europe's needs to toughen up. it's much as she wants to see a european naval mission in the mediterranean. she wants to see the implementation of a deal with she has yet to stem the migrants, the people. so talking about the need to rescue people. well, that was one instead of just the officials here earlier on friday when that wasn't n g o rescue ships it off to take its 30 rescued people to the italian mainland. they would tell to go right up to the northern ports of ravenna, near venice. 3 days voyage away that will put them out of action for about a week. so the purpose saying that those kinds of preventions of rescues need to be stopped. all right, we'll leave it there. thanks so much. hi,

full set. now us present, joe biden is set to announce the establishment of the 1st ever office on gun violence prevention. it's been hailed as a when by gun safety advocates have been campaigning for it. for years, vice president campbell of harris will oversee the new office. it's part of the administration's efforts to tackle mass shootings on from on this. let's go over to kimberly how could is standing by for us in washington dc. so what exactly is this office and what pals will that have as well? what it is, is it is a gun violence really response to what the president says is something that congress has failed to do. and that is to put in place when he calls common sense gun laws, but really is something that he believes the public was, is that congress has not put in place. and so, given the fact that it is the congress that makes laws and that the white house cannot do,
9:46 pm
the president believes he's done as much as he can with in his powers and is going to continue to do so. and so this is a federal office that is addressing gun violence and that will be over seen as you point out by the vice president come la harris. and what it does is really addresses gun violence and really believes that this is more important than what isn't tried in the us constitution. and that is the right to bear arms or gun rights. specifically, this is something that is being addressed by the us president and really is taking into account his re election campaign in other words, but this is going to be something that is of a target for younger voters, something that the us president knows he needs. if he was to win the white house again, in order to gather those young voters, when he is looking ahead to winning re election. all right, thanks so much. kimberly how could that?
