to the is rarely miller. so we're going to go to the box is life for us in tel aviv we all waiting for the us defense secretary lloyd austin to speak for them and clearly uh you have gone through and making it very plain that they are lying on us support and as far as he's concerned, but us as firmly behind israel and this yeah, and that's coming from very much support from it as a benjamin netanyahu said yesterday, comparing come us to isis. talking about the support that they allege from us has been receiving from the reigning government. that 2nd, that croft arriving, he said, will likely also contain further munitions. the bus that cross arriving focused on a century posting capabilities of israel high in the system. we know the us special operations team the already working with some of the is right accounts, thoughts on both intelligence and planning strategy, planning for a potential grounding cause and and other operations on going inside gaza. really
2:31 pm
interesting to hear what lloyd austin will have to say when it comes to the, the tire and stuff. but the united states is already tried to put in place very soon off of those attacks began on saturday, present, abide and ordering. at least 6 us naval vessels to these, the mediterranean, including an ad across the carrier, and many guided missile cruises and destroyers, along with thousands of different across that have been re basing full of ad bases in the region part of an f. but they made very clear the americans to try and to, to both non state and state actors. that would be groups like, cuz the government's like iran and that was from interfering in this car in crisis site blinking. and by then previously saying they had one, what are those considering that kind of interference starting prob, let me just while we're waiting for load austin to speak any maybe speaking fairly soon, fight. i think he lloyd austin has begun the speaking. now let's listen to lloyd austin. we'll come back, he's almost touch. but it's good to see you again in person. and it's good to be
2:32 pm
back in israel. even during such terrible days as the us secretary of defense, i am here in person to make something crystal clear. america support for israel is our own client. and i extend my deepest condolences to the as rarely people for those killed or wounded in this terrible slaughter by how much i'm also here and solid. there already with all the families still living, the waking nightmare of not knowing the fate of their loved ones. and we will continue to coordinate closely with israel to help secure the release of the innocent men, women and children in the clutches of a marsh including american citizens. now, israel is
2:33 pm
a small country, a place where everybody knows everybody. and in times of trial, the intimacy of your society deepens the intimacy of your grief. but that's not a weakness. it is a profound strength. and then times of testing is really is know what to do. over this awful week, we've seen is rarely, hotels and homes. taking those and we've had to flee. we've seen long lineups to donate blood. we've seen what's apt explode with messages as people race to support neighbors in english and protect perhaps because i'm a retired general. i was especially moved by the story of a retired general name. no,
2:34 pm
i'm table is son called him on saturday from his home near guys what to say that i'm off terrorist that storm there, commodes and were closing at and retired general jumped into his car and tell of eve and race toward the comrades all linked up with other fighters and rescued his son, his daughter in law, and his grand daughters. and when the general arrived at their house, one of his granddaughter has just said grand pause here. these are rays of hope in a terrible week. and then times likely is sometimes the best set of, of the best thing that a friend can do is just to show up and to get to work. now there's, there's no time for neutrality, or for false equivalence or for excuses for the inexcusable.
2:35 pm
there is never any justification for terrorism, and that's especially true if it is rampage by home, osh, and anyone who wants lasting peace and security for this region must come down and isolate how much us does not speak for the palestinian people or their legitimate hopes for dignity, security and statehood, and peace alongside israel. as a former commander of central command, the deliberate cruelty of ha marsh, vividly reminds me of isis. blood thirsty, fanatical, and fateful. and like isis moss has nothing to offer. but zealotry
2:36 pm
bigotry. in death. the world has just witnessed a great evil, but deadliest attacks, punctual villians, and the history of the state of israel and the bloody yesterday in jewish history since the end of the holocaust. so make no mistake. united states will make sure that israel has what it needs to defend itself, us and israel has a right to protect its people. you know, and there are many phone calls this week. president biden has told prime minister netanyahu that the united states would also respond swiftly and decisively to such a man massive terrorist assault. and the president also underscored that democracy is like ours are stronger and more secure when we
2:37 pm
uphold the laws of war. turbo should like her marsh, deliberately target civilians. but democracies don't. this is a time for resolve and not revenge. for purpose and not panic. and for security and not surrender. at present it binds direction, we have moved urgently to respond to this crisis and to send, send a strong message of the church. but us as gerald or forward carrier strike, group goes now in the region lead by the largest aircraft carrier in the world. we bought man and us fighter aircraft squadrons and them, at least in the us department of defense, stands fully ready to deploy additional assets if necessary.
2:38 pm
it's proven by and have said for any country, for any group or anyone thinking about trying to take advantage of this atrocity to try to widen the conflict. dr. still more blood, we have just one, we're don't the world is watching. and so. busy are we and we aren't going anywhere. we will remain in close contact with our valued partners across the region. and security assistance from the department of defense is already rapidly flowing into israel. that includes munitions in air, defense capabilities and other equipment and resources. it also includes more interceptors for aaron, don't to save is really is life is really large. and we will continue to assure
2:39 pm
that israel has what it needs to keep itself secure. now how mos attacked at a time of global challenge. but the united states is the most powerful country in the world. and we remain fully able to project power and uphold our commitments and direct resources to multiple theaters. so we will stand with israel even as we stand with you pray, that it stays kind of walk and chew gum at the same time. and us to get security assistance to israel will flow in at the speed of war. and is this harrowing week drawing to a close and ash about draws near? we stand together and we stand strong. united states has
2:40 pm
gabriel's back, and that is not negotiable. and it never will be. and after this terrible week, i wish you and all the people of israel shut up, shut on. thank you for me starting with the question, starting with along the channel 13 thank you. i missed the secretary and your presence in days or mediterranean clearly projects power. but so these where i'd be at that from the noise from his blind 11 on, would you be willing to exercise your force and join to fighting? so i ordered additional access to the region to bolster deterrence. and again, the message that we would send to any country or group thinking to take advantage of this situation and why and why in the conflict don't i won't
2:41 pm
speculate on, on anything that could happen in the future. i will just tell you so clearly that the united states will continue to support israel's right to defend itself. please have a question to the defense minister a. so balance the bought the basically not the simple i've got so i'm at the law. so let me even focus on us. there's a face to actually into, to my mom as voters into hall as bill. i know my stomach a very low single by mouth. let's vision. so they who i'm only staying based on what i've come. i've seen what's it i'm not the most that that you don't know if i'm i made sure there is a whole threats. i would never be there on the whole our boulders. and we will be ready and will show the like, why through the for that they all, it's monday the meet matt siler abc.
2:42 pm
thank you both for doing this. secretary austin, us administration is told, is real to avoid causing civilian casualties and to uphold what you called just now . the laws of war. given how, how most fights deliberately launching operations from dense to 1000000000 areas. how could is real permanently and the terrorist threat posed by him aust, without inevitably risking many civilian lives. and as we watched the civilian death, toll and gauze arise, well is real conduct sits counter attacks and perhaps a ground invasion. do you believe the moral culpability for those palestinian desk belongs to israel? a moss or both? i'll leave it to israel to uh to talk about its potential plans and its approach to conducting operations. man, i'll just to say again that israel has a right to defend himself and we will support israel's right to defend itself. we
2:43 pm
will continue to flow in security of suspense. and i've worked with this really forces over the years over many years. as you know, i or uniform for 41 years in my experience and working with these really forces as they are professional their discipline and they are focused on the right things. and so i expect that to going forward. they will continue to exhibit that same degree of professionalism that we've seen in the past. but, you know, met, we've seen this before. the international community for isis, who is, in some cases was a, was embedded, a deeply in built up areas in the international coalition. fought valiantly in protected civilians and created carters for humanitarian, the movement even in the midst of a, of a pretty significant fight. so again,
2:44 pm
this is a professional force. it is well lead and i have every expectation that it will be just thank you for mr. to lot, have you seen evidence that a ron was directly involved in planning or executing the recent attack on your country or any signs that either wrong or it's proxies or seeking to exploit the situation? and if you do come to see signs of an imminent attack on his real, are you in favor of pre emptive strikes you're on is by law and from us is one access and access of even every thing is directed. generally from your on the permission is given by your on the money is supplied by your on hand the, the ideas all shaped in the wrong. therefore,
2:45 pm
it doesn't matter if de gable didn't give it permission. but the idea is then i you on an idea as to that actions future actions of idea if i were to the state confidential for good reasons. thank you today. mind my saw the secretary. thank you for this. um house, um for an a for a termite lookout said that we know that egypt had warned israel 3 days prior to that event like something like this could happen. we don't know how we missed it. we don't know how israel missed it. so can you tell us what really the us knew before this, that, that what i can tell you is that if we had known or if we know of a pending attack against an ally, we would clearly inform that ally. but what we're focused on now. so i'm on is
2:46 pm
we're focused on making sure that israel has what it needs to defend the sovereign territory and protective citizens and administer. and i spent a good bit of time talking today about what those requirements are and what we need to do to urgently meet those needs. this out to the opposite family. so i'm not sure dealing with any on their last year about the it's a name, it's much them i know thomas can go look at the hold for me on the floor, the sun over some and on the, on the face i and i, michigan, come this okay, so i showed him that's ma'am, i am kind of rush straight across the hook instead of derrick. good, i mean, do you need any other chicago though? i'm not so fog. no fuck, i saw a mode cuz they didn't as model it scale. it died in the and those are both those, all the money government that clearly almost got recording you know,
2:47 pm
how made so she has a buck and shell massage. we only side correlate in the sun's rays member could be and for the time being to follow the instructions. and so i'd see the big 3 and do the feed time as, as i said before, this is the decision that we will achieve the big 3 and we will be at how much question from thompson. very thanks for doing this with the secretary. as you just stated, you were involved in the major effort to stop and eradicate isis when you talk to the minister and others, and that experience courses through you. what kind of a lessons learned? do you feel or might be helpful in this case? especially doing with that whole urban situation that you just referred to, the proposed the vacuum ration of civilians from gaza. those kind of challenges.
2:48 pm
what kind of ideas and thoughts that you have that you can share please? well, thanks tom. i will tell you that encountering isis, i felt as if we were staring evil in the it was truly evil. and what we seen from a moss. it takes that evil to another level. and so that's the 1st thing that we need to do. we need to remember and they can consider there are a number of things that, that we talked about today that you know, there are some lessons learned that we will be more than happy to share with our or allies here in, in terms of is operating affectively and in dense urban terrain, creating a safe humanitarian quarter's making sure that we're thoughtful about how we shape the battle and making sure that, you know, our objectives are well defined. and,
2:49 pm
and so we'll continue to share the lessons that we've learned over the years. and of course as the israelis prosecute this fight out, we will learn lessons from that. and so i think it's just great to teamwork that a service both well over the years and will continue that semester. there's been some confusion over the 24 hour deadline that is a real now to for civilians and guys a to move south to evacuate. and move south, there was a 24 hour deadline initially reported and then there's been reports that israel has modified that have left the open. in other words, not sticking to 24 hours of a deadline. would you please clarify specifically? is there going to be a deadline? what can you tell us about the deadline and what, what is we'll do if anything to help civilians move some of the people have said
2:50 pm
that thomas's problem, it's not our problem was felt before. i would like to remind all of us what had been less than a week ago, 1200. these wiley's well, both already mailed the right her band live. kids will die one through the other. and to show that the hand, this is called boss, this is the isis of goes up and as the secretary said, they took evil to another level. that's 1st issue. second it is was never and ever will not short, severely as in purpose. therefore, we are asking all the civilians in gaza city to go salt on garza. and the reason is that because we don't want to have them become
2:51 pm
a flush of the therapist, is the civil population. therefore we need to separate them. so those we want to save the life, please go sold. we are going to be side from us infrastructure of how most headquarters from us military establishment and take these phenomenon out of gaza and all of the day off. they cannot live among human civilized people. but 24 hours is that deadlines still holding the 24 hours. thank you very much. we're done today. thank you. or you're watching. i'll just say that we're bringing you a press conference from tennessee between us defense secretary lloyd austin. and the banner was speaking just at the end, there is really defense minister your goal on becoming a lot of ground in not very long press conference. but predominantly the message
2:52 pm
was that the us is standing behind israel following the attack by hamas us defense secretary lloyd austin, saying american support for israel is a, it was iron clad. he said that israel's, this was the time of your trial or 2. he said, and not a false equivalence. they also both made comparisons between hamas and ices, also known as i saw the foot saying that to the higher how much was essentially the same as isis as i say, also known as i saw a lot else and said this was the time for resolve and not revenge. we also went into some of the background logistics that the us was going to be offering to israel. and it's fine, we're joined by i've done that all out there and he's associate professor of history of the middle east, georgia university and kinda in contact. he's been here with us as this press conference has been going on. it's quite clear that the us is the time to show that it stands for full for squire, for like behind israel. nevertheless, it isn't
2:53 pm
a kind of difficult situation in one sense, isn't it? because it wasn't long ago that we were talking about the abraham because i'm the growing closest of your life between israel and for example. so there may be a normalization, as it's called of relations with what they are of world. and given everything that's happened, where do you think that stands? well, i mean, i think that policy was based on a certain logic that the palestinian applied could be completely ignored by the us, by israel. and increasingly, among all of these, eric states who have made the choice to normalize, i think the events of the last week i've shown that you simply can't ignore the plight of millions of people who are either besieged or under under direct military occupation or the threat of subtler violence and who are having their land appropriated and are being denied their rights and so forth. i think what we're seeing now, you know, we have to be really clear about the fact that the united states is now offering
2:54 pm
full throated support for state who is currently engaged in the killing of civilians. we've seen over 500 children and casa killed. we're seeing the targeting of 1st for small unders, we've seen that the one workers where they are on the ground are being killed, journalists are being killed. and so i think the idea that the united states is still continuing to offer the support also at a time when the government is not just openly, you know, some of its members are openly threatening genocidal intentions, but are actually poised in a position to do so. and i think this threat against 1100000 people in the north of the country brings back echoes to the founding a visual all the way back 75 years ago. when so many people were displaced. i mean it just to give you a sense of the, of the kind of comparison at that point it was 750000 palestinians or forced from their own lands. now we're talking about 1100000 people in doing it. and in 24 hours, not enough in this fan of one year, which is what originally occurred. let's not forget also that 70 percent of the
2:55 pm
population of guys are either direct survivors up to knock off from 1948 or their descendants. and so we're talking about also a refugee population that has already been displaced at least once in the course of their lifetimes. and so i think what we're seeing just in the last day has been a really terrifying escalation. i've done that. thank you very much. i'm going to leave it there for the moment, the audience. thank you very much indeed for your time. i want to go to jamila. i was and she's joining me live from gaza. now i understand that you're a, where you are at the moment. you're seeing some movement that been just talk us through what the latest is and guys at the moment. yes, this early morning. we have to evacuate from the u. n. g p headquarters in gaza. me and my family other you and if you staff members with their families and also international staff working with the n g i n g o. so the plan was and says it's not clear. at 1st, they told us to pack our essential stuff only and get ready to leave. the
2:56 pm
instructions are to move to a new and course in a con way, taking the rashid wood and heading south to con units. when we were on our way, there were other citizen car joining the convey to come by. all of this is happening was helicopters were right above us precinct, our truck. as we reached our destination design, you and just really a training center. there were people of the you and already and the location. and now after 7 hours or is that in a half hours at the center? it's really overcrowded. here was about 3000 people from the u. n. u n t p, an international stuff of the i n t o i, i have to mention a very important point that the majority of these people are children and is really deep. and, and also there are tons of people waking at the gauge and i have wasn't us know,
2:57 pm
people were coming to the open the gate for some people not or people are allowed to use in on the u. n. n u n d, p, members. other people who come into this isn't cars, have to or just, or somehow the ports to entering this area. this situation is, is catastrophe. there's no water, electricity, or for some that's equal to one unit of have the winds from half an hour to, to do some supplies and food items know from where exactly only, i mean, i mean, even the amount of food we have from the food is nice and also there is, um, do you mean we're going to have to leave it there because unfortunately we're running out of time. but thank you very much indeed. simula i was and then talking to us from a guy, is that no, that's it for me. robotics and stay with us on knowledge a 0 of course we're going to have continuing coverage of the war. and guys are here on audra 0. stay with us. the
2:58 pm
assessing the discussions as agents, we use the same as about 50 percent of which are smuggling is going to die. examining the headline 12 percent of the global population is responsible for 50 percent emissions, which has created this crisis, exploring abundance of 12 clause programming, designed to inform the move to face. and inside the way my story was, i felt that it was important. i get back on algae 0 or exploring type less cultural, exciting political discourse, exposing societies with dr. award winning intense investigations. the get compelling insights into humanitarian folds and untold stories from asia or in the pacific one. 0 one east. on out you see around

the israel threatens to intensify its a typo in the northern dogs. this trip ordering for more than 1100000 people to leave the clock. this is out your life and go home with special coverage in the world. health organization says moving severely, ill people from overwhelmed hospitals in gaza, amounts to adults, and united states will make sure that.
