right, well, what that does, india should really 5 countries in this policy of africa run by military jumped is after a series of cruise in the last 3 years and the side and stability put. so investors the, [000:00:00;00] the hello i'm mainly on when this has been use. i live from coming up in the next 60 minutes, destruction and panic after a mastercard and gaza, at least 471. people are killed after and he's riley a strike on the l. ali baptist hospital. to his presidential abide and says, egypt has a great to us and the wrath of border crossing into guys,

up to about 20 trucks with tremendous hearing and the now some comes off to the president met israel's prime minister, while jordan cancelled. amazing was fine and, and several of the arab leaders and the united nations us visa is a resolution calling for a humanitarian importance in the gaza. complex. the welcome to the program is just past 1 am in gone. so where civilians are still willing after. and these riley strikes on a hospital left almost 500 people. that it's the single worst attack on the besieged enclave and one that has bound to rage across the region is round, has blamed his i'm a g had for the attack and accusation, the palestinian group denies. the attack happened just before the us president arrived in israel. and the show of support, joe biden said he's received information from the pentagon that backs up israel is

claimed it was, is not behind the hospital strike, but he provided no evidence to support his statement. he also says israel as a grade to allow aid into gaza as soon as possible, but at the same time the us has vetoed a draft resolution of the un security council, which was cooling for humanitarian, paused in gaza. and condemning attacks by hum us on israel, russia and the u. k. abstain 1212 other nations including china and friends, voted in favor. while heading back to washington, the us president said he's worked out a deal with egypt to open the rafter. crossing with garza, which i bought and says damage at the side caused by is riley strikes, needs to be fixed, which means i might only be able to answer guys that by friday at the latest he agreed that what he would do is open the gate to do 2 things,

one right up to 20 trucks to begin with. satterfield wine bassinger is down there in cairo. now he is going to coordinate this. he has my authority to do is they're gonna patch rhodes. i have to say possible trucks to expect to take about 8 hours tomorrow, so they may be nothing. roll through until wednesday probably until friday. that's bringing rosalyn. jordan and her joins us live now from washington day say hello. there was just breaking down for us. how significant is this development to this is a significant development because the narrative had started to pick up here in washington and in other world capitals that child jo biden's trip to tell a leave on wednesday wasn't going to yield much of anything and probably would not

prevent the state of israel from continuing its war on garza. however, the president told reporters on his way back to washington on wednesday evening, that one of his goals was to get humanitarian aid into gauze because of the very real suffering. he says the palestinians who lived there are under going. he also noted that he has also been working on trying to get those us citizens inside garza out. although he didn't want to go into details about how that would come about. so far. people have not been able to leave garza for their home countries, but that said bite and also made the point that it was very important for him to speak face to face with benjamin netanyahu. this really prime minister, as well as to speak by phone with the jordanian king with the president of the palestinian authority and with the egyptian president about trying to keep the

situation from worsening. press one, how is bite in strip 2 ways ro, playing out politically on the ground in the u. s. as well, there hasn't been any official reaction. this news has only come out in the past hour, but the administration has been signaling that it will be asking congress for more money to provide military assistance, not just to israel, but to the state of ukraine as well. and joe biden is now expected to address the nation on thursday evening about these priorities. however, this is something that is going to be difficult to pull off because they are still is no speaker in the house of representatives. and until that happens, any legislation not to mention appropriations, cannot be considered and voted on. and unless you have both chambers of the us congress, fully operational, the presidents wish to send more military aid to israel and to ukraine. sampling

isn't going anywhere. plenty of complicating factors. thanks so much for breaking. know down for us is rosalind jordan in washington dc and as rosalyn mentioned president joe biden, early i met with these riley prime minister in tel aviv hayes supported these rouse, denial all of involvement in that attack on a hospital in gaza, but provided no evidence to back up that claim official reports from television. it was a trip meant to help deescalate the crisis against it, but it began to unravel before do by even touch. don't entail a be warm hugs to be followed by tough question. said the white house, particularly when you might have to be an issue. but then there was a massacre. i think as a hospital overshadowing every 6. the americans of all did their own inquiry into what happened to bite and refused to be endorsing is really denials. are deeply sad
1:07 am
in our age by the explosion as hospital and kazi yesterday. and based on what i've seen, it appears as though it was done by the other team. not, not you, joe biden has promised, isn't it what it needs to carry out? it's offensive in guys, a permanent support. clearly welcomed by the country's prime minister with one eye on the american audiences that on october 7th, come us murdered. 1400 as well as maybe more. this isn't a country of fewer than 10000000 people. this wouldn't be equivalent to over $50000.00 americans murdered in a single day. that's 2911. that is why october 7th is another day that we live at in from joe biden was meant to leave here and meet with 3 out of leaders and jordan, but an extraordinary diplomatic snap, the essentially cancel. i agree that the us president was not prepared to call for the ceasefire, but he did want to ring concessions during his visit. but with the going on at the
1:08 am
rise, the number of dead and the humanitarian crisis in a final speech before leaving after this extraordinary visit comes, he'll bite and revealed he'd secured is really cooperation for aids to be allowed to get something since we're getting close cooperation with the governor to be to the united nations and that agencies like the world program and other partners in the region to get trucks moving across the border as soon as possible. i a job items on wavering support for israel has won many admirers here. but in the why the region this consent, the us isn't using the influence, it has to do more to stop the assaulting guys and stuff, the number of dead from rising island, fisher. i'll just need to tell us what time to guys, and now when nearly 500 people were killed off during these riley as striking a hospital thousands of civilians i thought to obtain inside. at the time of the attack, i saw the bank has the details, cottage bodies and body parts strewn across the ground. the result of in his
1:09 am
regular strike on either the baptist hospital because it is no is safe and is besieged in case no way is off limits. no way to save some of the images are too graphic to protest. images of dead children, their bodies ripped apart, faces mutilated bodies where you strike this positive result into kevin keith children's body parts and bags of my son that you can see here on my phone. my wife just told me he died. he was sitting with us and all of a sudden he disappeared. hundreds of families had sort refuge in the grant of the hospital so that we were told the red cross of the hospital to lift the civilians in which it. and suddenly rockets and missiles started falling on all the civilians with it, including women and children who had the bodies dismembered. while no one was paid . it's been described as america heist death toll from single attack. for decades,
1:10 am
hospitals are supposed to be protected under the 1st geneva convention governing the rules of will it states that medical personnel and facilities cannot be attacked under any circumstances. and that's in the despite strike a hospital, that means they have no limitations. they've given the green light to execute all palestinians. that means they can choose his hair as well as their them the out about boss, household and use conference. my goal is, is the health ministry surrounded by the day to some of the dead children not being told by their relatives. the authorities here want to show the world what is taking place in the goal is to strip for home and how this morning volunteers go through the grounds of the hospital. you looking for belongings and, and you know, remain in the body parts. how would this attack may be a 10 point in this war against cause i really just have condemned to strike, but it is the palestinians who must live through a good many dogs the think nothing would ever be the same again, as that big g 0. let's bring entire go as them now who's on the ground and gaza tired. there's
1:11 am
a move strikes this evening including one close by 2. what impact has that had a one as strike really were carried out in western areas, a rough district closing. so if you missed 2 of a 4 story building that was really level to the ground by there is, but the ongoing strikes until this current moment for policies were killed to do this attack. while those others were ones that i know that i talked to placing jamalia refuge account, a number of casualties also have to ripple which is very ongoing for apartments when the gaza strip really terrifies civilians and coast massive destruction to private and public sectors. the ongoing strikes really pro, to catastrophe consequences on different life aspects. palestinians really not really say feeling safe by the east bed strikes, like every single area inside. the goal is a strict had been hit by the is ready. it forces tara, there are hopes that a will make its way through the border between egypt and guides. there,
1:12 am
as has been reporting for the last 2 hours, obeyed, it will only be 20 trucks. how do you expect this will be distributed across the region or across the guys or rather as well uh, these kinds of humanitarian aid, when from the 1st moment that it will enter the gaza strip. these trucks will be supervised by the united nations as what's happened for inside the goal is to stripe during the previous voice. these uh, these uh, humanitarian 8 till this current moment on, you know, if you are talking about 20 trucks for more than 2300000 palestinians. and only these trucks will be for the southern areas of the garden script. seems that even northern central areas isn't, wouldn't be really get useful from these kinds of weights. meanwhile, also there are still hundreds of trucks still in the huge show side, waiting for the permission to get to happening, treat to the besieged in place. so as long as much as a humanitarian aid might enter the goals,
1:13 am
this trip to humanitarian situation will be gradually mitigated. okay, thanks so much for that update. derek bu, as in, on the ground in kaiser for us, let's take a closer look now at that raffle, border crossing, which is the sole crossing between egypt and the southern end of the guys. the strip is guys is only lifeline to the outside world. and it's only for small vehicles and the movement of people. the other crossing is in the south and it's known as karema bu, salem. it's located where the borders of egypt, gaza, and israel made. and it's the sole passage for trucks carrying goods, fuel and aid into gaza. hundreds of tons of aid from several countries have been held up in egypt, pending a deal for its safe delivery to gaza and the evacuation of some farm passport holders through the roof of border crossing area. i spoke with richard brennan. hayes, the regional emergency director for the eastern mediterranean region at the world health organization. he said they hoped to stop moving humanitarian aid through
1:14 am
that crossing as soon as possible. i were in charge, that's probably the best use the width. ready in the last 11 or 12 days that you won't be able to move. she monitor in a across the board or at rough. ready then it's more sobering to know that there's no not going to be she mandatory forms, even in those kind of context. in humanitarian settings, we can do what's called. ready the conflicts, so that means informing a glitch or it's on both sides of the conflict of the geographic coordinates where you 80 is and where it's going with the trust in that they will not target that particular area. and. ready allow the site and the passage of the supplies. so i think it's very important not that it's not just a matter of getting the supplies across rasa. the supplies that have to be
1:15 am
distributed throughout all of casa to the hospitals, vulnerable communities. and that's why we need this d confliction process. so the, the both sides will, we will respect the neutrality, humanitarian i, which it is the raffle crossing between egypt and gaza is used. and that is a big if we have to say at this point, is it 8 and sufficient, given the scale of the need across sconce, or at the moment to help me understand. and as the go stations is still ongoing and not all the details of your friendship, but we understand we're kind of stop robert small probably 20 trucks, hopefully tomorrow. and then building up to ideally up to, you know, what we've heard as many as a 100 trucks today. so i'm not sure of the same calculations of, of the needs at this stage, but this will certainly require analysis. we've,
1:16 am
we've really just trying to kick the door open just to get a few trucks across, but then you are rightly indicating now it's got access. if we've got sustained access, we need to really do the estimates of what is required with respect to food, water, sanitation supplies, medical supplies, shelter and, and so on. across the whole, by 6 of egypt, president says he wanting to allow refugees from guys a into his country, adding it would make to sign. i've been into a target for is around the whole concept to transfer and palestinians from the gaza strip into sewing. i is simply moving the fighting resistance from the gaza strip to sign on, which means sign i will become a base for military operations against israel. and then is there, i will try to defend itself and direct its military operations against egypt and sign on. egypt has committed to establishing peace, we should remain dedicated to our investment in the peace process. we should come
1:17 am
up with a viable solution. if there is a transfer, that's what b to the negative does in his row. last row do what they wish to do with the minute true operatives in cause a before returning to palestinians box full acts by israel, cussing water and electricity as a means to forcibly transfer palestinians into the site. and i put in 0, which we totally reject l. a and my colleague just as the a taste bye to who's saying her really, he's a full my exemption. assistant foreign minister. he explained why a ship doesn't, won't palestinian refugees to be sent to egypt? old jordan, of the questions from an additional point of view as explain the vice president cc this morning is that we really checked the task for us. uh, by the cdns. either from does it have to sign i or from the westbank to order? because we are for the establishment of an independent palestinian state
1:18 am
on the west bank and even guys that is the palestinians invoice in the west bank and gaza would leave that there towards then. that would never be it . but this thing and state that's, that's the reason why egypt is against the past for us by this dns to either egypt or of georgia. of course, in the same time, the president a positive though, that we want to send to mind is that in a, into the guys as that and that they've got it. and then the zip shop side of the pressing has always been open. the problem was that on the buy this thing inside that was one bar that on various occasions by visiting cd at ad force. and on the other hand, the president makes clear that the when egypt pets signed,
1:19 am
it is easy. it was as well in 1979. it was betting on these not only between egypt and israel, but b, b 's for the 1st thing is a piece of it in between isabella and other, other companies, many living in syria in florida. so i have a number of questions for you about the international community and those assets and just a minute. but i wanted to pick up on what you was saying that about 2 amount of terry and aid because we have been hearing that there is some kind of aid agreement that's been reached, that you as president was saying so, but they have been scant details. i mean, uh, that was israel and the us was asking for the foreign nationals to leave for hostages to be released, you know, more not the frameworks of the steel, according to what president president biden made to year before he left the issue today. he said that the he agrees with the, as i the meters that uh who am at that enable events. are the guys asleep. and uh, after that, the is a prime minister and made
1:20 am
a statement in which he said that uh, a human fatty and aid wants cross. and so that's the only from the crossing at present and by the president. by the mentioned is that the tennessee of the aid would be subjected to inspection, inspection, and the, this isn't the 1st condition. the 2nd condition wouldn't be that the 8 or some parts of the a was able to how much we have no problem, no problem. so the question of inspection, and this is, and he said some, some, some inter addition marks, but anyhow, the most important and the most urgent. the task right now is that the compos of the minute how many 30 in
1:21 am
a start entering the does the same as soon as possible. joining us live from washington dc is or my dad. he is a middle east political analyst. i'm. i thank so much for being on this news our. how would you assess us, president sure biden's visit to israel? was it a success? so i think the visit is a complete and utter failure. however, it is a predictable failure in the sense, in the sense that all that has come out of it is a reinforcement of the fact that the body in administration stands in support of whatever israel does and the gaza strip. even though it's creating the very humanitarian crisis, but now that us as pushing to try to really by pushing some aid and, and even though as well as engaged in a massive campaign of what crimes throughout the entire gaza strip. you know, this entire framing of this being about defeating terrorism. it's, it's very difficult to understand how that framing even makes sense. when dividing administration is endorsing what is relevant, gave them, which is
1:22 am
a mass campaign of terrorism. i got the civilian population of casa from the indiscriminate bombings to the fact that water and medicine and food is being restricted to huge parts of the gaza strip, even if some aid work to be let in. and so in a sense, i mean, between him not being able to meet with other arab leaders in the region. and the fact that he keeps has kept us on a track that is inevitably going to lead to more blood shut and violence and suffering. moving forward. it is difficult to see how anybody can paint that is a success just picking up on that light is used all those latest developments on his way back to washington. what by didn't did reveal that there was that deal with egypt, which has been worked at toys and the roof of crossing with guys are in 20 trucks, will be allowed to trade. and this comes all the while, while the usb towards a security council resolution that cold for a humanitarian pause in the conflict. so how should we assess that seemingly juxtaposition? so yeah, there is a fundamental contradiction and an american policy in general. and frankly,
1:23 am
it has started even before the slightest crisis in gaza, but on one hand, supporting israel's destruction in palestine beyond even just because of strep, but also and gaza, while also wanting to support and supply some humanitarian aid and reconstruction. and what have you in, in the areas, but israel is devastating. it seems like it would save everybody a lot of money to stop funding, the destruction and the 1st place, so that you don't have to give more money in a, in order to help restore some of the damage. and yet this idea of calling for a pause and in our a ceasefire for the onslaught that we're seeing would require the by an administration to stand in sharp contrast with his is really counterparts. and that seems to be something that button is unwilling to do at the moment. he likes the political cards, some, you know, partly for domestic reasons and probably for what seems to be genuinely emotional ties a genuine emotional ties to, to israel and nothing. yeah. whole that have basically eliminated his backbone and
1:24 am
in this entire dynamic, where from this to the story about the hospital, to the claims that by the made, making up the completely and verified and likely fabricated claims of decapitated babies. and what have you, he seems to be extremely deferential to that then. yeah. how it seems like nothing . yeah. who is the one calling the shots, and by the simply obliging and working within the confines of what to what not to be. his preferences are, instead of showing genuine real american leadership in the situation and doing what needs to be done, which virtually everybody in the world at this point understands as an immediate cease fire, because the genocidal rhetoric and the mass of onslaught that is only just on the people of gaza there is simply just no way to justify by any stretch of the imagination. and he seems to be completely unwilling and lacking the moral courage to actually take that stone. that brings me to my next question. what did you make of spartans choice? of language, while he was in television, particularly what stood out to me was when i was talking about the hospital bombing . and he was saying,
1:25 am
he's understanding was that it was the other team to those 4 to minimize the seriousness of the situation a little as they, they absolutely do. i think the of the, you know, just the, the lack of seriousness with which he's treating this entire situation is, is deeply troubling. you know, talking about, 1st and foremost though, emphasizing very significantly his sympathy with his rarely victims 1st and foremost, and then a passing thought for palestinian victims. and all that happen in the hospital is terrible. but you know, we don't know which team caused this. i understand as the other team, this is what israel did with that hospital fits into a very long pattern of what israel does in the gaza strip. any time they engage in the mass of bombing campaign. human rights organizations have recorded many, many instances in which israel has engaged in massive bombing of civilian areas and civilian infrastructure, including schools and hospitals and things of like. so there is nothing particularly unique about this hospital bombing apart from the scale of the depths
1:26 am
that we've seen in that particular mastercard. but otherwise, it fits right in into a pattern of the way the israel behaves. and more importantly, we have a very long history of israel lying to deflect responsibility for its own crimes and the palestinian areas. we've seen it as recently as last year with the killing of i'll to 0 journalist and american citizens sitting of off there. where the is really a reaction and instantaneously was to say that palestinian gunmen were responsible for her killing even though that turned out to not to be true. and then when that was discovered to be a lie, israel shifted to the next excuse, saying that she was caught in the crossfire and then that was proven to be a lie. and then israel trot to deflect attention from that situation entirely. and the same can go back to many bombings of civilian areas, bombing of ambulances, going back as far as 2006 and 11 on where israel claims they have nothing to do with it. and that's not their responsibility. then human rights organizations are independent media, investigate and find out that israel is in fact responsible. so between this being
1:27 am
perfectly normal behavior for israel in this context and their history of line to deflect responsibility, it simply makes no sense for by them to be so differential. and just simply just take israel's word for what actually happened and, and to be willing to roll with it. that is not what leadership looks like. and we have a real absence of american leadership on, on this particular issue. but unfortunately, it does fit into a pattern of the us constantly treating as a country that is above the law and above rules. one that does not have to account for how u. s. military funding is used. one where the u. s. keeps intervening. the un devito resolutions that are trying to hold this real accountable. that entire pattern, i think is a, is a very, very deep problem. it shows a very high level of hypocrisy, compared to how the united states treats many other countries that violate human rights. and just finally on my, how much do you think domestic politics and potentially next is election applying into biden's public response?
1:28 am
i think that is definitely a significant factor here. i mean, there's 2 things. one, we know that republicans are constantly trying to portray democrats as anti israel, as a talking point of a part of someone and democrats, instead of having a backbone about it and basically coming out and saying yes, we're not going to endorse another on a part time government, now by the admission of again, every major human rights organization in the world, we're not going to endorse their work crimes. but democrats attempt to do is fall over themselves to try to prove that they are not at the israel and what they do it in the way that we've seen a president by then. and democrats more broadly behave and, and this particular crisis. and there is the status of this lack of understanding of how much public opinion has shifted in the united states, especially on the liberal end of the spectrum. and now you've seen, even with the latest polls that have come out, showing that there is a clear generational divide where younger americans are not supportive of what israel's doing. recognize that it's
1:29 am
a massive atrocity. it gets the policy and people recognize that palestinians are being denied their most basic human rights. and that this is really the fundamental driving force of all this violence. and yet the, the, the political class has not caught on to that shift yet. and even though there is would be wide support for the united states actually holding israel accountable. it seems to me that the entire political class is still stuck in a very outdated mindset where they do think that the israel lobby is extremely influential to the point of never being challenged. and thinking about what they're currently doing is, is ultimately beneficial politically. but i think there are many, many reasons to believe that this is the wrong domestic political calculus. but it's, it's, it's just a bit of, of some of those political dinosaurs still being stuck in an old way of thinking and not catching up to the times. and the necessity with which young people in the united states are demanding a change in policy and wanting a genuinely fair and equitable foreign policy that does allow us to me. and so live in freedom and dignity in the same way that is really is get to enjoy these things
1:30 am
. i'm glad to get your perspective. i'm about a, a middle east political analyst in washington dc. thank you so much i, i think i'm picking up on what are my said in washington days say protest is from anti will group and jewish voice a pace of states just says in inside a congressional office building the demonstrate is calling for an immediate say, so i missed the rising death tone, guys, a capital place has been slowly arresting, deactivate some protest as we're wearing shirts with the woods notes in l. 9 headed calhane was that the protest in washington dc in the us capital here in the canada. how many of them this happened maybe were named you serious use?
1:31 am
fire now came and they knew they would be arrested. this all started at a protest, a few blocks away or the day really all one gentleman. he said, here's the, here's how i see my job. as carrying on their legacy as the jews who fundamentally see their role as standing up for state less than impressed people all throughout the worlds . and i see no better way to do that. then fighting for peace and the ceasefire and gaza today one by one just to give you
1:32 am
a sense of how different this sentiment is from the election officials by one representative. it has to offer a ceasefire. you know, still a don't l g 0 will have our continued special coverage of the war. and guys on the to hello good to be with you in pennsylvania is still a story for vietnam. but now more for the northeast of the country with this tropical storm in the gulf of tonkin, dropped about a meter of rain engineering before it became a tropical storm. so this one certainly is packing
1:33 am
a punch for that southwest corner of china as well. pushing into one g providence, not that same time. we've also got rain falling across the yangtze river, the solid part of a cold front cutting across the korean peninsula. and again, it is so called friends to watch what happens by friday. certainly a fresher feel temperatures in the teens across the green peninsula. and that batch of rain now runs into japan's hunch you island. and this is also going to drop down the temperature in tokyo to just 20 degrees on sunday, which is below where you should be for this time. you're back to this part of southeast asia, as i'm pretty intense rain southern sumatra island and for west cal. them and 10 on the indian easy inside of borneo island and meantime for australia, not much to report it stress about the heat from the kimberly to the red center to the southeast. by friday we really see that heat build in the se, but we've got a southerly buster here. so that's going to knock back temperatures in adelaide. 10 degrees by the weekend. pretty typical spring day in new zealand. not bad and gets been with

expose this and questions. they use them to be use of power around that one out there, the the hello. you're watching out a 0. i'm emily. angry and he's a reminder about top stories this hour. really, 500 pellets. damian's have been killed in and he's riley a strike on a hospital on tuesday night. for this is condemning the mask. i have taken to the streets in the west bank and in cities across the middle link. you as president or bottom says he's worked out a deal with egypt to allow 20 trucks carrying aids to enter guys. it's for the rest of processing 5 and says that i live in gaza on friday at the earliest one on wednesday,
1:36 am
the us president met is riley prime minister benjamin netanyahu intelligence 5 and says, the pentagon has information that backs up is ralph claims. she is not behind the hospital strong. the un security council has failed to pass a draft resolution cooling for a humanitarian pause in gaza, the killing of hundreds of people as a guides a hospital on choose day was also high on the agenda. the u. s. vase heard the draft resolution which was sponsored by brazil. colleagues, the united states is disappointed. this resolution made no mention of israel's rights of self defense. like every nation in the world, israel has the inherent right of self defense, as reflected in article 51 of the un charter following previous terrorist attacks by groups such as al qaeda in isis. viscouso reaffirmed that right,
1:37 am
this tex should have done the same christian. so lemay has the developments from the un headquarters in new york. you are, the officials are very concentrated still on attempts to get a deliveries into gaza with or without the security council. the secretary general has called for a humanitarian sees fire on his own. he is in on his way to egypt to discuss that with various players in the region. the u. n. released chief martin griffith is already in egypt working on that. he also addressed the security council today. we're hearing calls from the united nations to respect international law which does demand protection of civilians in a conflict. it also calls for the protection of aid workers and medical personnel and the u. n. a saying that some of 15 aid workers have been killed. several
1:38 am
medical professionals have also died in the conflict. so it's a very dire situation as far as the united nations is concerned. but again, the emphasis without the security council is still to find ways to get that aid. and i should also point out that while the security council is promising to keep working on some sort of a resolution, russia is talking about going to the general assembly where no country has veto power, like they do in the security council to get a resolution their past calling for humanitarian relief for gaza. the un secretary general antonio gutierrez, has condemned the attack on that hospital in gaza, with hundreds of palestinians were killed. he's calling for an immediate humanitarian, safe file for 45. by the time that is what people do, it's all holly hospital this same day. you guys by us that i,
1:39 am
