here we make the rules, not sales people empower, investigate, exposed, and question the use and abuse of power around. but the analogy there, the the, it's 7 am in gaza where a space fi has just come into effect. significant moment off the $48.00 days of school time, simon's a van without a 0 special coverage of the status of the as well. i see saw for the past 7 weeks, palestinians having good death, destruction, hunger and pain. now the bombing and bloodshed should stop,
8:01 am
at least for full days. now the $15000.00 palestinians have been killed in garza since october. the 7th. a majority of them, women and children. $1200.00 is right, is what killed in, ty, areas of the strength of been wiped out, hundreds of thousands have been forced from that homes. now, many will be assessing the damage and it may reveal the extent of what's happened. the central medicine food was so fuels and basic supplies desperately needed in gaza. a trucks are lined up on the egyptian side of the border, waiting for the old clay to cross. well, here's what we expect in the coming out. as i mentioned, the sci fi, both in northern and southern gaza as come into play. these really ministry spokesman sized bed troops will stay behind a sees fire line inside garza, that 1st group of 13 is ray. the captives will be released by hamas at 4 pm local
8:02 am
time. that's 1400 g m t. 14 out to 50 is ready. the women and children all set to be released in that 1st move. the red cross will then a school the captives to that off border, crossing them over to these riley ministry who will begin the identification process. the captive so be to take him to hospitals instead of the sole physical and psychological tests. well, says he, 9 out of a $150.00 pounds, standing in prison, there's a set to be released from israel as part of a swap. on the 1st day it will be taken from 2 is right, the prisons, dumb on an mcgee, they're both se of haifa, that will then be driven to the alpha prison south of ramallah in the occupied west bank of the palestinian prisoners who will be taken then to a nearby crossing and handed over to the families and villages they come from the
8:03 am
much needed humanitarian aid is also expected to cross from egypt into garza, in the hours that follow how my saying $200.00 a trucks and more trucks of fuel well and to gauze daily, to have a team of correspondence keeping us across all the developments in the occupied territories in lebanon. way this being, of course, across the board, a fine with his rel, during the war. and here in concert where the seas 5 deal was broken and is now being monitored. first of all that stopped in gaza. hi me, my mood joins us now from the fun eunice. so the big question now, honey, i think it's what just a couple of minutes past 7 has been 19, so on bob month now ended. so it's really good morning to use. i mean yes it is in did right now,
8:04 am
and we are with this thing a relative called the gradually becoming more and more uh, visible as. busy is a complete sob of the fights or is it sliding over the gaza strip? but the, the hours of preceding uh, the uh, the, the, the seeds fire becoming effective where the bloody is the, excuse me, the toughest for palestinian story. living and in the northern parts and java city and all the way through the southern part of the safe area designated by these very the military for people to move to, to avoid getting bonds in the northern part of the highlights of what happened in the past. hours and it throughout the denied the, the, the storm at the indonesian hospital where these really military squeeze the
8:05 am
hospital under heavy bombardments and tank show destroying its main gates and the power generators. that was a really truck a few weeks ago at this time, the target, the air strike this completely destroyed the power generator. there was use gun fire going on inside the hospital by these rarely monetary killing. at least the 3 people, one women, and the 3 people who have been killed, happened to be among the injuries who were in the hospital to a new fire, right refugee camp and a breeze refugee cab. we're a targeted hebrew the last night and not only by erie strike, but also by israel naval power in the sea. it came under tv, bombardments, of many residential buildings where destroyed a remaining bakery and the camp was also destroyed to the width of, of hon. units as the eastern line of the city of pine unit areas in the southern part
8:06 am
of the gaza strip came under heavy air bombardment until late hours all last night . at similar situations happened to do more residential homes in rough a, where more people reported killed the, the, the, the reports. and according to what we hear from people, it was the toughest night in terms of ever so i can bombardment since the beginning of, of the one. all right, thanks so much kindly. let's keep this going and let's go over to the occupied east . jerusalem. a jump jim joining us live from then. now we understand if all goes well mohammed, one of the 1st opening moves of this, these 5 will be the release of is really captives understand that families have been informed. take us through how this sensitive issue is playing. out, what does that mean? it was last night that we found out from israeli government officials that the
8:07 am
family members of that 1st batch of captives, those 13 people have been held in god's or that will be released later today that they had been informed that their relatives were going to be released today now is really government has remained very tight lipped about who these people are. they have not given out the names. they've also repeatedly warned the media not to leak any of those names. if they were to find out, here's what we know about how that process will play out later on today. around 4 pm, local time is really government official saying. the red cross will transport those captives. those 13 people, women and children from guys up to that up on the border crossing. once they get to the border crossing, they will turn them over to the israeli army. were told, the israeli army will then verify all of the identification, so they will go through the process of identification for all of those captives that have been released. and they've been, is really army will take those 13 people to 5 different hospitals throughout the
8:08 am
country. they will then undergo medical and psychological tests. what we don't know yet at this hour is when exactly those relatives that have been informed, those family members of those captives that are due to be released when they specifically will be re united with their loved ones. we expect that it would happen at the hospital, but again, it's really government not giving out many details. they've especially one the families not to speak to the media, not to say anything. and they've also, in the last 24 hours, really try to one family members that nothing is certain until those relatives have been they've been held captive now for so long and gaza until they've actually gotten back into israel. so they should essentially try to keep a cap on their expectations, but nothing is certain until the transfer actually happens. but again, a lot of relief amongst the family members who have been informed, but as far as the other relatives of captives that are still in gaza. we've seen
8:09 am
over the course of the past few days, various quotes and the media people really worried about the process about if their family members will be next on the list. and when exactly they can expect them to be released semi a lot to keep our eyes on. let's keep our eyes on the story. now. think how much, let's go with his own personality. joins us from nablus in the occupied westbank. and we understand of course, same once we see some movement with these raven captives, palestinian prisoners should also be released, have palestinian families be notified. do they know who and take us through the how are they going to be released as well? what we understand from the people we've been speaking to a several of them are still waiting for any news yesterday we spoke to family members who said simply the waiting simply, the not knowing had been consuming their entire lives for days. we spoke to someone else. this morning who says they still have not heard? all they've been doing is watching the phones trying to contact the official
8:10 am
authorities watching the news for any information. so the palestinian families that we've been speaking to say they have not been informed of this 39 palestinians, expect it to be released. all that we can survives from the process as it is ongoing, is that perhaps their families have been informed. but as of yet, there is still no information for the hundreds of relatives of those expect it to be released and coming days there's no indication that they know for certain if their families will be getting out or not one person we spoke to a mother, we spoke to whose daughter is expected to be released as part of this deal said that all of the power of who gets out and when they get out still remains is rarely happens. what we do know about what have will happen when this process carries forward is likely to resemble what we've seen in the past, where the red cross will take care of any paperwork. any of your rocco see that needs to be done? prisoners will be proc wherever they are in the prison system,
8:11 am
in israel proper to offer prison, which is the only one in the occupied westbank at once. they are cleared for release, they will be let go and walk over to a check point in crossing to the occupied westbank. but as of yet families that we've been speaking to, as well as the large majority of people who are hoping to have their relatives released, they still haven't been informed. there's still not sure what still a lot of uncertainty. thanks so much same bus harvey. let's go now to human to say she's a rough are crossing for us for another part. in this process of the c 5, everything goes according to plan. hopefully, you'll know with the exchanges of captives and prisoners. we're supposed to see a trucks going through the off where you are right? that service uh, be uh, in these uh, full days of the ceasefire. were supposed to witness a huge number of a trucks entering more than what has been entering in the past times. we are
8:12 am
expecting today a loan 200 trucks of aid to enter 140000 liters of fuel and at least 4 trucks of gas. no, of course the fuel amount of the gas amount is very little consider to what is needed here in the gaza strip. but resident since the civilians see it as a good start at a that could actually be increased, it'd be upcoming days. so the hops are high, but these uh or is this a that is coming in would be increased email in the coming days. all right, well leave it there. thanks so much jim. this said, let's go now to zane a hold of actually before we do that, let's just bring you some pictures and take in what we're looking at. and what has happened. we're about 12 minutes past the announce thoughtful the seas 5
8:13 am
and 48 days of conflicts. we're looking at live pictures coming in from gaza. a lot of smoke that. but what we understand from our correspondence that smoke is from earlier shelling and bombing so far. it seems things are relatively quiet in gaza. of course, there's been something of a 2nd front going on in the north, towards the border with lebanon. let's go to zane a hold of in by roadside zayna. how have things been shaping up now? that went into this truce visit the the northern border of israel was 11 and we haven't had any reports of israeli air strikes or is really artillery. shelly, or any attack by has the law in the past few hours. now the is or 11 on board or
8:14 am
was not mentioned in that cease fire agreement between israel come us. but what we have been told by has the law and what we heard from the is really army. it appears that there will be quiet along the board, is that both sides, the warning sides will respect that truth. now it has the source telling us we will abide by it as long as, as well does this way the army spokesman saying that we will defend ourselves against any threats using the word defend, meaning that they will not open fire at least both sides seems to have been you know, given this commitment we've seen was 7 weeks of across the border fires the 1st few weeks for roddic exchanges, but then it became more intense. yes, it's largely confined to the border area. but it has been dudley. hezbollah has lost nearly 90 men, a police 10 palestinian fighters killed 14 civilians, killed, including reporters. so this has been
8:15 am
a deadly conflict. the concern and 11 is what happens after this 4 day pause in the fighting. the iranian foreign minister was in baby this week of the round, of course being leading this so called access of resistance. the arms of groups across the region, which have been launching, attacks against israel, as well as us troops in order to relieve the pressure on concepts. what he's saying is that as this, these fires as a whole, then expect an expansion of the conflict in the region. and we've heard this ready defense minister say that after the pause in the fighting, the conflict will resume. so there's a lot of concern that if this cease fire is not expanded or some sorts of permanent deal political security guarantees, then we could see more of what we have been seeing a long backorder and it could spread deeper inside left or not. all right, thanks so much as a nicole the say, no, hold it out, day thing else and what's going on on the border between 11 and, and these are
8:16 am
a little bit say that highlights the why the reasonable regional implications of this war. let's go over to our diplomatic edits a james base. he's here in the concert capsule where the deal was broke and joins us now live. so james, a lot of global and regional diplomatic calculations have been somewhat reset in this conflict. take us through how important the coming minutes and hours of to those calculations. i sami, this is absolutely vital. i think what happens in the coming minutes and then coming hours because it's all being very, very sequenced. what is going to happen over the coming hours? the idea is that in return for one thing, something else happens, and that is how they're going to try and sustain this full days of c spa. the world is watching. what's going on right now on these events that you're seeing right now
8:17 am
in casa? because the world has been in many ways involved in all of this capital has been the linchpin. this is the place where the negotiations have been done. this country has been building on its previous mediation that's taking place in the middle east in africa. and i've got to stop because it's use those skills that it's lunch in the past and it's context. remember, it has a direct line with a mouse to mediation, also has good relations with the us. it can speak to these, right? and these and you have some of the biggest thing is in this conflict, old directly involved in the negotiation. normally the providing negotiations have done by diplomats on this occasion. i think it's pretty clear that some of the very top leaders been involved the, i mean with catch all the prime minister of canada as well. so the foreign minister, us officials, the secretary of state and to the blinking was 1st here on the 13th of october,
8:18 am
but he's been intimately involved. he's key officials have, as has a president by no means riley side of the head of most side has been here to doha. we've had this phase of trying to get this all together to get the sequence together. now, the diplomacy is to keep it going. i'm cats always go to an operations room in dough where they're going to get real time information. they have direct links, which these randy military with home us. the idea is if there's any source of violence, ition, but because of those direct links to get to try and make placing the buds and make sure that this can continue. this process can continue for the full days and that hoping that can continue before building the full days. but it is west reminding everyone as we see scenes have come for the 1st time in gaza for 7 weeks. what these riley government is saying, i'm back to you, is that the war is no so, but they still want to destroy a whole mouse. so for the poor people have garza, this is an important rest spike. this is
8:19 am
a chance to check on family members. this hopefully is a chance for them to get some aid because the u. n. is wanting of the risk of disease and starvation bought down the line, the law, but will sauce again. well, i thank so much james bass that let's bring it back now to the studio where we have the, how much of the valley. he's a professor of conflict resolution and diplomacy at george mason university. i'm down to 0 correspondence. hash him a bottle. and also let's bring back into the chat. i'm a jim, jimmy is joining us from occupied east jerusalem. all right, so let me style. so 1st of all, we've missed a shot of cali, what all the flash points that we need to look out for, to know whether this is going smoothly or this becomes problematic. one 1st, there is a promise and pass on and discuss the immunization data is on open ended, momentum will style. there is also an assurance that they wouldn't be no spill over the years. i'm not going to escalate the position of ease of use and i am booked
8:20 am
the for installment release on with this hostages for team today may be 13, tomorrow may be 13, saturday and on sunday monday. so this is going to slow down the momentum because at the end of the day, mediations of successful when they have a symbolic and the human utility and significance. and unfortunately now we're still debating. is this a good sign that's going to maintain the count, pause, or truce as big as what i 8 is preferred to quoted for. what i'm going to shift towards this is a form of this file, and this should be the ultimate objective of all the mediators, as well as both the stakeholders and is what i learned how much and of them and beyond. so i have a question with a staggering it out, helps to increase momentum opens up areas full things to go wrong is what you'll, you'll but i was the whole thing that since all of the parties have agreed on this framework, we shift this from uh,
8:21 am
$200.00 to just 50 and from another to under. sure. it was $100.00 is about 80 hostages for $250.00. now it's 50 for a total of towards a 100 of them. 60. when the numbers of shrinking this is going to be around the negative sign, that's as if some of the font is, are not fully engaged or committed to this process. and i think the is right is, are looking at this as an opportunity not to give any symbolic value or source code or policy could come to him as this way that it would be no celebration. there will be no cameras. so this money pro nation of the really so how should we talk about some of the key points? the numbers of exchange of captives is 954, a 150. as, as mr. chicago, he was pointing out the what about other key things? what are you hearing from the call to the negotiators? from how much when it comes to things like how much fuel is going to be allowed,
8:22 am
and how much, how many trucks, a trucks are going to be allowed in, you know, some of these key things. how much aerial activity will the not be some it was interesting. yes. today of the press conference, but i'll talk spokesperson was admitted so far enough us to hey spoken in details about some aspects of the dates of decided to stay tight lips when it comes to humanitarian relief. well, this is going to be into gaza and the, the operational aspects, particularly the no fly zone window north and south for the simple reason that the operation rooms here in doha, is as we speak now, in touch with these writers with him, us with egyptian, as a capital under the crossing to work out some aspects of these the of the, of this agreement as we speak, it was not set in stone by the way, yes, today, go ahead and say that will work in progress. definitely,
8:23 am
but hash and didn't we have from how much things like they are understanding is fuel will be allowed in that will be a complete association of is really every like give it to you in the south and for 6 hours in the north. right. is that the understanding of it is that expecting to a 100 trucks of 8, something like a 100000 liters of diesel on a daily basis. but this is something they're still trying to pin down how much is asking for more. katara is also is the key me data that got onto is hoping to increase this. busy and the volume of a to across does that because they do understand if you want this to hold, you have to address some of the biggest concerns by the good, by how much, but also by the people often goes on this right ways. why this works best instead of yesterday? everything with all things out in terms of humanitarian aid is just a fraction of the massive demands of the needs of the all right from the script. let's take this to my, i'm a jump june because he's standing by line for us and occupied these through some of
8:24 am
them. i'm sure you were hearing that the discussion that's going on here. visit the some of the specifics like trucks of 8, how many trucks of, of a trucks will get through. will fuel be allowed? it will that be a complete cessation of his riley aerial activity in the south of garza. how much confirmation all we hearing from these riley side on some of those points a semi by and large of these really government. it has left the specifics, those details to the companies. they've also not commented very much about what they will be doing in gaza in the days to come or not doing it's let's take one example when it comes to fuel trucks. so we know from last week that the war cabinet had made a decision that they were going to allow in a small amount of fuel per day into gaza. that it amounted to 2 trucks. we've not heard anything beyond that since from the israelis when they were asked
8:25 am
specifically by is really media over the course of the last few days. if they were going to add here to the demand, to the point that these really is not fly war planes or surveillance drones over the skies of gaza during the ceasefire. but they essentially deflected saying that they will not be blind as to what's going on in gaza and as far as what their positions will be when they have been asked specifically again by reporters. what they have said, especially the spokesman for these really military daniel allegory. he has said things like, we will stay behind those ceasefire lines and he's also said we will respect the terms of the ceasefire. that's really about as much detail as we've gotten from the israelis because one thing these really government has tried to do repeatedly over the course of the last few weeks. and especially over the course of the last few days they've been, they've been reiterating this being that they're trying to continue to present to
8:26 am
these rarely public that this deal may have been difficult to accept. but this deal was the best course of action for right now. they have said that while they are not against the idea of potentially extending that deals, if how much were to be willing to release more prisoners, they also continue to say that this is a temporary cease fire and that wants to cease fire is over the world will continue, we heard that reiterated again as late as last night from these rarely defense ministry, you'll have a lot. okay. heard of that. so how much more will can come back to the point and that it will about this, this continuing but hash. and it was very interesting listening to him, how much was saying that, about the, the kind of leaving that for the countries to being tight lips on some of those details. when you talk with the counselor, indigo shade is what, what is your media is, is, what is your sense? have these details been worked out, but people don't want to talk about it? or is this a, a fluid situation where these details will be negotiated,
8:27 am
worked out on a day to day basis of how many trucks of 8, how much fuel, how many hostages in captives and prisoners will be released and so on. assignment, as you know, this is the way about holidays. traditionally love to do politics. it's always discrete shuttle diplomacy. everything is behind close tools and then you that this is perhaps the most complex agreement in it, in the region over the last 20 is fast moving with the potential for any small mistake it could jeopardize the entire agreement, which is why i guess they've set up the mechanism and operations room to try and deal with this exact on a certain by 2nd basis. they are in touch with the most that they're in touch with him. us to come as all the it will cause of they are in touch with the political beauty of how much based here they are in touch with the egyptians. they did
8:28 am
understand yesterday because yesterday it took us 4 hours to wait for the sports bus of the missing for that fast will come out and say that is an agreement and i do it. we understood that because it was still negotiation, negotiating some aspects, right? so without any of that fluid situation, he left out some aspects during the press gone for the sake that starting from today, the with come out and updating the media on the ticket a is a humanitarian aspect because they don't go pay more of that today. they will, they would be able to set some of the it's aspects. how much out of how we, the bottom line here. is this going to hold? is this going to work? and is this? is there a chance that this can become something more than a full day truce? a prophecies 5. do we have to wait to see what's going to happen on tuesday morning? but other words, if you, where would you put your money? i was probably gonna be probably one way i would say that there is a golden rule in conflict resolution. got any mediator, any conflicts,
8:29 am
parties are engaged in a collaborative effort. that means mediation itself does not and stay connected to the when of one side. but all of them together, so now we have this for they promising 4 days of exchanging hostages for prisoners. however, there is a crucial question that we have to face, and i think the bosses should move from this experimental mode. let's see how these 4 days will work out. i think it's about the time. i believe that is what i am homeless. i'm not fully investing in what? because the reason that your services are low and therefore if we missed this, i'll put it on the in other words, if there wouldn't be no build up on tuesday and be on what's going to happen today . saturday for the sunday on monday. then i think it's going to be a missed opportunity to because is, i think because of that it is out of favor, the meticulously kind of conduction disability. and i don't see that they are fully
8:30 am
engaged. therefore, i hope the interesting point, interest of what, let me take it back then to my i'm a jump julian occupied east jerusalem because a lot of those questions i guess on now really about what is israel's next move? we've heard conflicting signals on the one hand, how much you were talking about. you have guidelines, promise the will, will go on that to the i was promised the will go on. but this also been told because hey, will extend this and offer additional days of truth for every 10 captives which will released. so i mean put, put it all together for us. that's right, sammy, and sure you're right. there are conflicting signals because while these really is continue to insist that this war will continue until they achieve their objectives of, of this one being that they would free all the captives held in god's and the other that they will completely destroy. how much that's what they continue to say. they've also continued to reiterate this point.
