the vital role in solar energy harnessing offerings, 75 percent of global carbon credits essential submitted by mental protection, enhancing investment climate digital licensing, your better tomorrow the the, the, the problem and this is the news our live from don't have coming up in the next 16 minutes, 13 is riley's in full, ty, captives released by him off from gaza colson to egypt as part of the 2nd batch and the present, or exchange d. and these are live pictures of the as rainy prison from west. 39 palestinians are about to be released. the prison,
1:01 am
the exchange was denied, and almost the rail voucher of a dispute of a trucks which had been rolling into casa carring, food, fuel and medicine for the pulls and fighting, still appears to be holding palestinians, southern gaza, taken long as such as the sold a cx 5 train him off and as round and why that's common goss as they have been more astray. the rates and the occupied west, vancouver 9, the it's just boss 22 g m t that is midnight in gaza. adoption with today of several hours. the exchange of a 2nd group of israeli captives held and gaza for palestinian prisoners in his riley jails is back on track. it is part of a full day seats fund agreement. i'm off is handed over. 13 is really captives, as well as full foreigners to the red cross. country mediations have confirmed that
1:02 am
israel will release at least so 2 non palestinian prisoners and exchange those numbers off similar to the swaps that happened successfully on friday. early the exchange was, did they talk to him also choose as well as violating the terms of the sci fi now and it's 2nd day. i'm also israel hasn't been allowing the agreed upon amount of 8 and to move and gaza, which has been devastated by 7 weeks of school. we believe that that is why you let them know they are not this one being and that i and the positive way to what was achieved. and according to that we have called. i want them in the items to me because i need a 4 to 4 different or what has agreed on light allowing the trucks or freight to reach then austin bought of this out of to 100 trucks. we did not reach them now. 70 trucks
1:03 am
also, according to the release of the business, we believe that those that are in is when they put that in their shoes, of this good hunting must move now who is joining us live from con eunice in southern gaza and honey, the latest that we're hearing is that those 13 is really captives as well as for foreign nationals. we know them to be taught nationals have now left across the raw foot crossing from southern gaza into egypt. yes, indeed. within the past half an hour, we watched the photos and videos of the red cross vehicle crossing the roof, a high crossing and moving from the palestinian side. today, gibson side,
1:04 am
with 13 of the captive the, with released the today by a how much military a wings that we're talking about. 13, kept as a plus for and for a nation knows work or at we're on their way to day gibson's side. where do will be transferred to adoption ambulance for a quick medical checkup before they are transferred and will be on their way to the is really a side. and this has been very, very, is critical within the past few hours as the deal was delayed by a how much military wing and there were reasons cited for that delayed the violation at 3 violations were cited a link to the delay of the release of the captive and in a, in a statement issued by how much military we assigned for gate and
1:05 am
a senior. how much the official in, in, by your route a were consistent and stating clearly that those violations were the reason for the delay and how much was not going to change its position. and unless the is really government and the really military adheres to the terms agreed upon. uh for, for the deal. it came the video that we're watching right now. and the photos are relief for many palestinians here because it, within the past a few hours, a a know deal. what it meant that we're going back to a, the, a, the, to the fighting and the war and more of the bombing and the air. it strikes particularly after a statement it made by a and is ready the military officer visited by midnight. if we were, if we did not reach the deed, if the captives are not released then is read,
1:06 am
will continue the war on, on guidance so that it has been very, very critical for the past few hours. then everybody now is the good. it is quite happy that it is happening and gives them a again, that cautious optimism it for a, for a possibility of extension to this. these fire a possibility of extension, which of course means relief often more than 7 weeks of relentless bombing. thousands dead. so much of the infrastructure and gaza destroyed and the needs then now for people just immense. they had a the yes indeed the, the lots is bombardment of the gaza strip, particularly gaza city. and the northern part has literally blue treated garza,
1:07 am
everything entire neighborhoods were wiped out. entire residential buildings destroyed completely. the sheer amount of destruction and damage leave the one in shock and all of what, what is what is happening a just is it beyond imagination and gaza has turned into a means of rebels. and we just as so some of the of the, the photos released by, by those who are still is trended in. and y'all has been the northern part just within the and yesterday and today they were able to a go back from leaving evacuation centers, the honor were schools, and go back to their neighborhoods to check on their homes and, and embrace their, their, their relatives who remain at their neighborhoods, it's just the pictures are and the videos are very, very shocking. the, this, the, the level of destruction is beyond imagination and, and makes,
1:08 am
makes people wonder that it might, takes years before that they start seeing a life going back to the, the places for a lot of people here in the southern part particular evacuated. there is a growing frustration that there is the realize the did the, the level of destruction and damaged cause to their did their, their, their homes and neighborhoods. but the fact that they were unable to go back and to check on their homes at just increase their fear of permanent display spent as these really military stablish disease, fire line or live didn't road blocking people from going back from the southern parts to the northern part of the of the gaza strip at this aggravate the needs for more human and tell you in a the sudden part of gaza is packed full of people. evacuated centers are full, the streets are full hospital, our fault at but the northern part of is, is still in need of, of more of these
1:09 am
a humanitarian aid of trucks. the northern part is a starving. no food, no water, no medical supplies. and here what is the verb is available is not enough. so we're talking about across the goddess trip. a real problem is going on honey. thank you very much for that. so now that is honey mack, who's giving us the picture of the situation in gaza from con eunice and southern gaza that spring in. i'm the son who's she's joining his line from occupied east jerusalem and home that we're hearing from the israeli government. that's 6 women and 7 children and teenagers are among those 13 is really captives has been released of the that's right. and these really military confirming just minutes ago that all of the captives have crossed over into is really territory and are now being escorted by is really special forces. and the sion but, and they are undergoing an initial, an initial medical test. now,
1:10 am
after these captives were taken through that offer crossing, they were then take it into the hands of these really military to go through identification processes and to confirm that they were in fact those on the list that was handed to these really governments. they are now in is rarely territory as confirmed by the military. these really prime minister's office releasing a statement also just moments ago was saying, but the government embraces the captives that have returned confirming that there are 13 is rarely use and for tight citizens who are returned to israel. all of their families were informed that they are on their way to the hospitals. now they are in is really territory. after they go through that initial check, they will then be air lifted to different hospitals to be reunited with their families. this comes after a lot of uncertainty, a lot of delays. these really military and politicians
1:11 am
a like seemingly scrambling along with negotiators to try and get the deal back on track. but after more than 7 hours of a delay, these captives are now all back into was really territory. their ages range from $161353.00. the oldest we're seeing on this list is 67, and the youngest is 3 years old. so all of those captives who have been brought back 17 in total, 13 is rallies, and 4 tight citizens are back and is really territory and home to it's an o d and isn't it for the families of those 17 who's being released on saturday night with hours of delays, a full cautious optimism is the word that the government, the military and these families have been using while they were hopeful for their
1:12 am
release to be at 4 pm local time. it did end up happening much later. now these families remember, had been waiting at the hospital for hours in anticipation of the release happening, according to the time stipulated in the agreement, which was 4 pm. so they had been waiting, almost in anguish, waiting for any sort of information from the government about their release. additionally, we've been hearing from his really officials all day, these really military spokesperson acknowledging, while there were delays, there was significant progress and that these rallies, we're doing everything they could on their end to try and keep video. going to try and keep the release of the captives today on the 2nd day of the ceasefire. and as we entered day 3 and day for families and is really society's a like our on edge waiting for what is next. come and remember,
1:13 am
these really armies spokesperson, daniel, how godaddy had said from the beginning, even before the ceasefire went into place, that nothing is final. this is a dynamic situation. it is unlike anything they have experienced before so that there are bound to be changes. there are bound to be hick ups and bound to be things that come up but change the plan. but as of now, after midnight low full time, all of those captives are back in 2 is really territory. 17 of them. elizabeth compos. thank you very much for that. i'm the son who fly for us and occupied east jerusalem. this goes to tell stress that he's live and i'll be there in the occupied westbank. palestinians are waiting for those $39.00 for those to be release from is where the jails. i know you've been speaking to many people, many families tonight childs what have they been telling you?
1:14 am
that's right. yeah. you're joining us outside one of the government buildings here, where we expect those buses as impossible as a way will be bringing those to do, you know, and palestinians house from, from i swear to jails. and the crowds have been growing that have or number of families that are here that know that the loved ones are on this list of 39 people . and they've been expressing mixed emotions. i'm obvious, obvious joy of having their loved ones, potentially back wisdom by uh, well one was one would hope body of the hours of all of this holding or in the next couple of hours or so for the same time. that's, you know, that's changed with, with great sadness and great removals people who are all very much aware of the, the level of suffering the, the, the level of killing in gaza. and that sort of very much with the fellow palestinians in the gaza strip of many of the families also talk about the
1:15 am
fact that, you know, they know so many other people that are in is writing jails. people who are serving huge sentences and who there is another side of the being released in the foreseeable future. they also talk about their lives generally sitting here in the okay, by the way, spy and gotten the occupation and then a situation where they describe the kind of crack down by the way, the ministry in recent weeks since the time of the attacks on the side of the savings as having increased as having got more intense. we all, as we speak, there is an ongoing rage and ministry right happening in jeanine in the knowles of the occupied with spank. we're hearing now from the palestinian authorities that full of people. now the data in that raid 2 of whom all teenagers,
1:16 am
a number of other people injured, there's also being a shooting, not kidding, literally a 5 minute drive from head of other young palestinian again, according to the palestinian authorities. very close to one of the many illegal is ready settlements in new york supply territory. so yes, as i say, although there is a degree of happiness and relief among some of the families who in the knowledge, hopefully that they will be seeing their loved ones today, it is still changed with great sadness and tension because there are so many offers on on some questions as to whether in fact this, the swab will continue just for the full days. so the $150.00 also, palestinians that these rarely say they will release if they get that 50 captives out of garza. but also looking beyond that, um, you know, questions being honest about how this will and they're all the political solutions
1:17 am
that are being put on the table yet. and these riley ministry has about to continue fighting until it is, was it completely destroys, come out. so yeah, mixed emotions here and no real stay of age. what sort of time we're going to be saying these policies arrive. all right, charles, thank you very much for that. that is charles stratford with what we know so far live for us in the i'll be there in the occupied westbank. and joining us for montreal is william rabbani. he's called the editor of the online new science jebediah engines on resident fellow at the center of a conflict and humanitarian studies. thank you very much for your time. it has been a very busy saturday night. how do you assess, or the developments that we've seen, the delay and the release of as rarely captives and the full for nationals. because i'm also choose to israel of not sticking to the terms of the agreement. the mediation staffing in, i'm guessing it's back on track. right?
1:18 am
well, as, as people who have dealt with these early is, will tell you, um, typically 1st you reach an agreement with these, or at least then you need to negotiate the implementation of what's already been agreed. and then they will try nevertheless, to implement it in a way that best suits their own interests. so i think that's one dynamic, that's the work here. and another is that this is kind of a test of wills, of, of these rarely use. trying to do things their way to show that they're in charge of have us insisting that the agreement shouldn't be implemented exactly as specified to show that they won't be intimidated, but in the end it seems the categories. and also the egyptians stepped in to ensure that the various commitments that were supposed to be implemented during the 2nd day of this temporary truce were in fact um executed. so
1:19 am
i mr. bonnie, this yes. yeah. i'm sorry. we did lose all connection with you for a short moment, but i, i think it's, it is, it's fine again. okay, how, how do you think that the israelis doing balancing the different objectives? because while they are on the immense pressure, are they not from the families of those held captive in gaza to bring them back? and they say that that is an objective, but that's so 2 is destroying him off and they keep saying that they are committed to the c's 5 to get those captives back. but then the will must continue because they must eliminate time us as well. i think it's useful to perhaps take a step back. israel's initial position was that there wouldn't be no truce and there would be no negotiations. because military force was the only method that
1:20 am
would succeed in meeting their objectives, which is both eradicating from us. and um, uh, and retrieving their captives. well, we have now is, is real reaching in agreement, not only with some aspect specifically with the yes and what was the architect of the southern october attacks. and it's very clear now that israel is going to get it's captives back, not through the application of military force, but only through an agreement whose conditions very closely reflect what, how much had already offered about a month ago. and so i think that will only increase the pressure on the is really government from is really public opinion to extend that to us if that opportunity is offered and to continue negotiating in order to retrieve more of its captives. you know, well, he was saying that as well as being re writing, he's saying that his role has been saying that it's been able to get him get to
1:21 am
this point to get the captives released by its use of military force. that's interesting because both israel and how mos say the same thing about the other. the other only understands military force. and yet we seem to be here on the 2nd day of the ceasefire because of the mediations that have taken place, that have been, you know, led by casa and also by the united states. and by egypt. do you think that if we, since we have got this far, is the potential to build on what's being push in place? a yes, i mean just a slight correction. it's correct. that is real set. it would achieve its objectives to a military force, but the point i made is that the military force did indeed succeed in slaughtering thousands of people. i apologize, we have lost that connection with a guest in montreal. so
1:22 am
a 2nd time. so let's move on. the only hundreds of protests as an israel demonstrates as near the promised as residence, calling on him to resign. they are choosing benjamin netanyahu of mishandling the will with her loss. also said he isn't doing enough to bring back all the captives . some health battles saying nothing. yahoo destroyed israel deliveries job because for the of the 7 days after the biggest one we had the baby raised. meanwhile, millions of people who are being displaced and gaza are unable to attend to they homes. even with a see, saw many in expressing their frustration,
1:23 am
the anger and fear for the stage of the homes they left behind. and that's how far we came from. the law here on for overwhelmed with fish, we done filled our life switch for them, ruthless bombardment. despite the current truce, we can not go back home. we are still get by fear we are trump. inside the school. sting was more than 60 people inside the pay room. despite all this, we thank god for what we have come to. however, we cannot go back to the north under any circumstances where the come. i wish i could go home. our extended family stretches across full households, but we can't go back as long as these railways are continuing to shower us with miss styles and the bones of the like thousands of thousands, we came from beat like yeah, the as really air force drops leaflets, warning us to leave, we were bombarded from all directions. the northern part of the gaza strip was
1:24 am
totally destroyed. we held her ground as much as we could good, but there was nothing but showing fear, killing and destruction. we ran for our lives like many. again, these railways dropped the leaflets warning northern guidance from returning. but we palestinians are a people of fortitude, we will hold, steadfast to our homeland. the building that have served as causes the legislative headquarters has been reduced to rubble. new video shows only the entrance of what was gauze as parliament building is still standing before raising it to the ground is ready. so i'll just post itself face with the flag from inside the main hall. what as the forward i seize font and gaza approaches the half way mon palestinians are rushing to pull out their loved ones from under the rubble. so they can bury them properly. many say will latest see them as men numbers and not victims more now from a sullivan java than a warning that view as may find some images in his report. distressing.
1:25 am
well, they've traveled to him. he says that in gods hands know how many can do looking to reach multiple levels of concrete in the bottom step, calling people and goals that came out looking for people. the last example, know it is in the ones that use was in place. we run to search for our loved ones, family members and friends. we found many of them. but with these results is we kind of pull them out. the excruciating hit this, this set and the demand. and they see their relatives bodies under their troubles, yet unable to do anything about it. it's read the 5th street is really buttons of public, most of no doesn't into debris. even 1st responders, we're not sped. a lot of i came here about an hour after my home was hit, we were pulling out women and children assisting a team of civil defense. and all of a sudden we were targeted by the bombs and missiles. people were able to come out
1:26 am
because as well and homeless agreed to a prison, to swap and exchange for afford a ceasefire. the scale of destruction hasn't been widely seen by international audiences. new during lists that are allowed to feed into gaza and even the language is dictated by his reading, the officials. i kind of at that stand because it's like they released children and then we released children. i'm sorry, don't accept that. you can say women and minus and they did most major newspapers and tv outlets called them is really women and children and palestinian women and miners. only the guardian newspaper issue to try to for cation later. that the insensitivity was unintentional, the palestinian see the failure to see the children as children. as to the dehumanization, malik was a teenager when she was arrested by his really forces a release comes as a young woman age 23. mother was a 17 year old high schooler, she spent
1:27 am
a t as in jail and now released at the age of $24.00. a money, no one fatima. how many with us? i'm a share some of their story. at least 88 women and more than 250 youngsters under 17 or needs read the jail summer jail for offences like throwing stones. it is really set this and then legally paying, it looks almost it's where i used to look like this. so 50 percent of her body was severely burned. as a family says she was left to burn in the car. according to them is risk are, was set ablaze, but is really soldiers open fire. while she was driving on tuesdays is really forces who called her a terrorist incentives to 11 years in jail. charged with trying to designate her fuel tank. your soldiers, palestinians won the world to acknowledge they are also human beings. and to try and recover the bodies of their loved ones. so they can be given proper burials. they have to do it quickly because the for the cease, fire is already halfway through some of the job aids out of there. this is
1:28 am
bring you up to date on the latest developments. 13 is ratings and full, ty captives released by him. us from gaza. now back in israel, this is the 2nd group to be sneed in the present or exchange do 6, a women and 7 children and teenagers have spent 15 days in captivity. we've also seen on palestinians just have to be released from israel to offer prison families and loved ones that those about to be free to wasting anxious to meet and greet them in the occupied westbank exchange had been delayed for hours after a dispute over the amount of a big amount and the gaza mos accused israel often laying some trucks at the roof of crossing or carrying desperately need of food, fuel, and medicines. i knew that abraham has the latest from back to and yet in the occupied westbank with palestinians
1:29 am
a waiting for their family members to be released from his righty jones. some family members have received the good news, so they've made their way here to wait for their family members to be released from israel prisons. others are disappointed of course, but they're still hopeful that the fact that this deal is being carried on is that it's continuing gives them hope that future deals are potentially on the agenda and can really release other prisoners. they're looking for size the at those who have high sentences, who really have no other way of being outside lars. and if it's not, it's through these deals, we're seeing a hundreds gathering here. the majority of them are heading towards that direction . and you might ask why it is because at the end of that street,
1:30 am
there is the is really, isn't it called the old father? this is the place where the 139 palestinian prisoners who have been released yesterday as part of the 1st batch of the deal have been released from the expectation here among spouse. the news is that this is with that it is going to happen. we've been seeing palestinians confronting with the is really forces that are inside the present. we've been seeing more and more palestinians making their way here because they've seen the list. they've seen the numbers of palestinians were going to be these and made me not just the numbers, the names of all my rom on as a fellow at the middle east council on global affairs, and he's running his life in washington dc. thank you very much for staying with us . how do you assess the developments of saturday, nice to have been so many moving parts and we've heard from several analysts now
1:31 am
who said that israel is essentially trying, it's locked to see what it can get away with the implementation of this agreement to thank you for having me back. yes, i think um, you know, that may explain. uh, what happened in terms of delaying the, the exchange in terms of was, is real, you know, pushing the boundaries here to see what it could get away with, in terms of, you know, what i have mass line have mass would stick to the end of that included, you know, letting resources back into the northern gaza strip. because as we have seen, over the past 6 and a half weeks is realize, intend on pushing the civilian population of gaza out of the northern gauze or strip into a much more crowded south. and now at this point, even bombarding the south in certain areas, but certainly they don't want to allow resources back because are people still in the north? they don't want to allow too many resources back up there to sustain life in the
1:32 am
northern gods a strip. and so that's one aspect of it. another is that those people that we're heading back up there because a lot of people are using this reprieve of a few days to uh go back to their homes to see the state of their homes, to collect the debt, to bury the dead. and to see if they can salvage anything from their homes and you know, is really cyprus were firing out a lot of those people coming back and been killing. so i'm entering others. and so it seems like they were intended to art and are intent on preventing that. so i think i'm asked was responding to that by delaying the 2nd trunks, the 2nd release of hostages. it's interesting that you say that as well doesn't want to allow resources back into the north. we believe there was something like 500000 people still in the north. we heard from the is way the army sports person down here in her gallery a few hours ago. and he said that it is the united nations and that is international organizations that are in charge of age going into south and to north
1:33 am
guys. uh, what do you make of best a well, you know, i don't, i don't know how much merits are, is to give to his particular statement. these realize have been, you know, stating things that were unsure the whole time and you know, you, there's been plenty of propaganda here. but what i'm asked was saying was that israel was violating the terms of the agreement in terms of allowing how much a to into the north. again, i don't know who's responsible for what was allowed into the north. you know, whether it's a groups or whether it was israel, but we do know and we've seen, you know, in the worst, in the most extreme circumstances possible. what is roles intention has been for the north of the gaza strip. and to me, and from my perspective, in many others for the entire to because of strep, but especially the north in terms of the clearing it out in terms of carpet bombing . there are very few, you know, there's very few civilians structures intact in the north. the homes have been all
1:34 am
destroyed and you know, it force people who were intent on staying for quite a long time. it force many to flee any that could. all the hospitals are not operating up in the north. so, you know, we see the condition of the situation is rise, their leaders have made claim that they want to push the people out of the drop leaf, or it's telling them to. yeah. and you know, and everything you're saying, you say, carpet bombing the states of the stage of the hospitals. you really highlighting just how high the stakes in the ceasefire continuing, what do you think it does for the possible extension of the ceasefire? when is where the lead is continued to say that they are committed to was using the war to the facing him os windows full days. he's fun and as well look, i mean, what has is your up accomplished up to this point to 6 weeks to more than 6 weeks of they eliminated? how mass have they killed even more than you know,
1:35 am
a certain amount of, of fighters, a certain amount of commanders are the anywhere close to the stated goal. it's clear to me that they're long, they're larger goal, and this has been, you know, evident in the statements of political leaders across the spectrum, including the prime minister, the president, his cabinet, that the much larger goal here is to make gaza uninhabitable for its civilian population so that they flee, it's, it is about a paradigm shift for gather not to go back to the status quo ante of october 7th to re engineer. but they don't want to pay to come back. they've stated that into the gaza strip. you know, they're not that keen on an international trusteeship. so what is their intention? their intention is not to go reoccupied the gaza strip and it's 2200000 people. so what is ultimately their intention wasn't intentions to mt off the gaza strip and to take control of of the area without its people. i think that is the intention here. and so of course, they're going to have to resume the bombardment after the 4 days of, of ceasefire of the, you know, that is, this is
1:36 am
a temporary measure. they want to return their citizens to the, to the country. they're bowing to the kind of internal pressure within israel to have the hostages come home. and then after that they have to achieve something, nothing. you know how to achieve something, something clear that he can show his people. and it seems like that is a, you know, far greater than, than what's been achieved. so for mr. robin, you're not the only add on this to say that as well as grace or plan. that is what it's trying to achieve here in the end is getting rid of those 2300000 people in gaza by pushing them out, pushing them out into the cyanide as it um, through egypt we have seen what the international community has already. and now to happen in gaza, the more than 15000 people who've been killed 6000 of them children. but do you think that, do you think that we could really see the pushing out of such a great number of people from the gaza strip that that would be allowed to happen
1:37 am
as well? i think you know much of the world, at least those who count in the west, israel's backers are allowing it to happen. they're refusing to call for a cease fire. refusing to pressure is real and providing to them not a cover while it pursues this and know it is really leaders that have made those goals clear. they're the ones that speaking about it and we're, we're seeing it played out. now. egypt has not been compliant in that and i, there are others and jordan, obviously they don't want a pass that needs to be pushed into their territory tossing into themselves, do not want to repeat of the lack of a, but ultimately, i mean, how long is this real willing to, to maintain the situation of total siege on the strip in terms of, you know, no electricity, no food, no fuel, no water coming into this except for a trickle of trucks. and although there's been, you know, a few 100 that have come in as a result of this negotiation over hostages, that fairly needs to demand, even in normal times let alone, you know,
1:38 am
the crushing demand of the moment, you know, after the decision of the territory and the environment of it so, you know, if israel plays the long game here, i think it's hoping that there's the pressure on the people for survival and the pressure on the governments of egypt and others to eventually relents here, that they can play the long game. because they have enough shown, you know, a merciless annessa cruelty towards pulse enhance dehumanization and a lack of care for life, for international law. for all these types of, oh right, that they can kind of wait. all right, that is on the rama. a fellow at the middle east council on global affairs, he is joining us live from washington dc. thank you very much for staying with us for your analysis on this developing story. we appreciate is and we want to show you some pictures from occupied east jerusalem. now where i believe we are seeing a woman who has been released from an as rainy day and
1:39 am
a palestinian woman. i believe her name is shadow. shadow way up who has been released and she was imprisoned in 2015. and she is one of the 139 palestinians who are being released from is ready to joes. on saturday night, on the 2nd day of the seas, 5 the full day, 65, between our mazda and as well, which also involves the exchange of as rarely cap service and being held in garza by him. us for palestinians like shut oaks who we are watching on us queens here. these are pictures from occupied east jerusalem off shut hoops, has been reunited with his family. a. let's go now to, let's bring in our correspondent child stress said he's joining us live from, i'll be the in the occupied westbank and charles as we see those pictures of palestinians off shuttle being reunited with her family. you have been speaking to
1:40 am
families throughout the night. who hopeful that they will be re united with their family members about the plight of palestinians who have been thousands of palestinians who have been held in is rarely jails often without uh, without trials, without convictions. that's right. yeah. so, i mean, just quickly, before we, we speak about that here is just beginning to percolate among the crowd to that a gathered outside this government building, expecting policies, bringing those prisoners to arrive for news has begun to spread among them about these we're hearing now the 2 female prisoners, one who's been released into east jerusalem, and then all the one who's coming into the west bank by columbia crossing. we don't have many details as to why this has happened, but i'm being told that one of the reasons could well be because they have the specific is rightly bye
1:41 am
d i d. that would enable them to do that. we're expecting now the, the, the remainder of, of those prisoners to potentially arrive here on buses. and. yeah, it's, it's bad to say that the excitement is rising here. but excuse me, now you say we have been speaking to numerous family members here over the last few hours and they've been telling us about how they feel and expressing very mixed emotions. because of course, everybody is aware that the world goes or is, is fall from over and people here and in the occupied with bank, standing in great solidarity, a very much aware of the level of suffering that to, you know, that the 2 points for you 1000000 people in gaza having good and over the last 7 weeks. so. so a lot of the families that will so we've spoken to a very much aware of, of the fact that they're all still styles. and this old policy deals in is riley
1:42 am
trials. and there is no sign of them being released any time in the future. a number of the 5 is that we've spoken to are expecting a. 2 family member to be released today have more than one level one in jails. i don't need, as i say, only one of them is being released. so no, i mean, series of calls people here all very much on the pressure from, from these on going is rightly military rates that happened right. the way across the occupied territories every day, every night. now. so, you know, very frightening, very intimidating. and these raids, we understand is why i'm still in going in the city of janine the policy minerals towards the saying that at least 4 people have been killed in that right. 2 of them teenagers, we were getting reports earlier that the slightly ministry had brought to the influences to post the hospitals, stating jeanine. we've also heard from the policy mills or to that a young man has been killed in the last couple of hours shots. we don't know by who,
1:43 am
but so he was shot close to and he's really and he's a he legal is riley settlement which is only about 5 minutes from here. so is this kind of context, these kind of violence is kind of intimidation. there's tension, but that these, these family members are waiting for their loved ones to arrive. our express a very much mixed emotions. but as you can see behind me, the crowds now gathering pretty sick and false. actually the beginnings of a flags to be waived. those have asked flags, actually the green flags you can be behind me. and yeah, i increasing beginning of expectation that these so the 9 also palestinian prisoners could be arriving very soon. and a or just charles and we are here and the is really prison. authorities are saying that the 39 palestinians released at 59 palestinians have been released on the the
1:44 am
hostage deal. i believe that's overdoing with the child's child stratford life arise in. i'll be there in the occupied westbank because we have another one of our correspondence mohammed junk june. he's standing by for us and occupied east jerusalem. and mohammed, i've been told that you uh, are you near the home of a palestinian prison? a who's been released? another palestinian president who has been released. so elizabeth, we are actually we are we're at the family home. we may have to move situations very fluid right now where it's a family home of that sort of job because of a palestinian prisoner who's been in prison for 8 years. the family believes that she is to be released to night and that seems to be every indication that we're getting right now. what's happened in the last few minutes? why is it all right? we're, we're being told we have to move the security forces of come in here, some order to lead to other brigades of the police forces where
1:45 am
we've been told that until the media leaves you that we are on the inside the house. all right, so we've been, so we need to waste down to the bottom of the stairs. all right, all right, everybody. we are moving right now. it's a bit of a crash. we're trying to get out the door here. because the police have told us that the prisoner cannot return until the media has left. so that is what we're doing. so now that is confirmation that that's what a job is, is going to be returning her. we expect at any moment now as soon as obvious is a prisoner who has been in prison for 8 years. more earlier in the evening. we were at a different area here in occupied east jerusalem where she was expected to arrive
1:46 am
and then there was the delay and getting those as really captives out of gaza. but now that they have been transferred, it seems as though the $39.00 palestinian prisoners that were, that were being held and being ready ready to be released seems as though they are starting to be released. and we are now just waiting on the arrival of this particular prisoner up until now it's been calm throughout the evening at this family home. but in the last 10 minutes, in the last 10 minutes, as the security forces showed up, it started to get more defense. the we apologize, we're just trying to figure out exactly where to go, elizabeth. yeah, of course mohammed, there's a lot of people here, of course, and we can see that we and you know, i understand that you anyway, if you need to go or what. yeah, we're,
1:47 am
we're fine. we're fine right now. we'll let you know if we need to go. we just have to get out of the actual family home. so we're just waiting on the arrival. so this was obvious. we're waiting to see when the police will actually to parts this family home. but let me just tell you earlier in the, in the evening, earlier in the evening. so we have family members that at 1st they were relieved because they thought that she was going to be released. then you have that delay in the captives that are being held in gaza being released. and then everybody was deflated and they were worried that the essentially just meant that all those $39.00 house, any and prisoners that were expected to be released. and maybe that wasn't going to happen. and there was even some concern that perhaps the entire cease fire deal perhaps the entire cease fire deal was we were being thrown out. i think we're going to be moved from here as well as you can see the, the police starting to emerge. so we may have to move again, we'll let you know,
1:48 am
but in any case there was a lot of concerns that perhaps the family members wouldn't see that. so again, it's perhaps a ceasefire deal with completely to lapse in the last half an hour. what started to happen in here is that they started to put up tables and chairs and more people were gathering. there was some concern about that too. and the reason for that is because in the last couple of days, you've had warnings from the far right. national security ministry, it's more been given year telling palestinians in areas under his jurisdiction. but there were to be no celebrations, no festivities when it came to the release of the house to the prisoners. all right, we're being told we have to move. elizabeth, we have to move again. just bear with us. yeah. yeah, that's right. so as i was saying, as i was saying, you have this message from the far right wing is national security minister that promised indians were not to be celebrating the live areas under his jurisdiction
1:49 am
but, and that would encompass occupied east jerusalem of course happened stephen yesterday when we were speaking with some palestinian prisoners who had been released from his early detention, they were telling us how concerned they were about all this. because some of those families have been visited multiple times yesterday before the release of their relatives and have been warned repeatedly that there were to be no celebrations inside those houses outside those houses. so yeah, and washington tonight was if there were gatherings, if there were people coming together, is that something that was going to be tracked down upon? so it's very fluid situation. we're just waiting to see what happens right now. it's 10. they're trying to clear people out and we'll, we'll keep you posted as to what happens in the, in the, in the next few minutes. and remember how much this is something that we have been proposing as maybe a special saying that palestinians are not allowed to celebrate the,
1:50 am
the family members being released from prison. and as we can see from your reporting, the media is not allowed to cover this prison the returning home. but we can see that there was immense interest in the story. and that is because this is an issue, palestinians, and is really jose. that is, that has touched the lives of most, if not all palestinians was absolutely and, and yesterday we were speaking with a manny how she, who had been in jail for 7 years. and she was released last night. we were at her family home after she return and her family had said that the police. okay, we may have to move again. just give us a 2nd here. okay, i think we're all right now. they have been visited by the police no less than 7 times before she was released and brought home and warned repeatedly and the
1:51 am
palestinians. and i've been speaking with the past few days say that this just shows the pattern of persecution that they continue to face. we can just take a look here. i was just going to move the camera to show you the battalion of the security forces, these border police and other members of the police force that have shown up here. and this point to that is now emerging from the house and it looks like they are on their way out. we're just going to try to follow them. and we were told earlier, just give us a 2nd here. we're just trying to get here trying to move. all right. anyway, this pattern, as i was saying before, we have been told about 5 many palestinians we've been speaking with is the fact that they are prevented from holding any kind of festivity or celebrating their freedom. showcase is
1:52 am
a pattern of persecution that continues and that this is really indicative of the palestinian experience for so many palestinians. and the people that we speak with say that these palestinians that they are unjustly detained, they are held without trial. they are held for indefinite periods of time. and again, it just goes to what they say is the injustice of what they experience on a day to day basis here. when it comes to occupied east jerusalem. let's go back for a moment to what i was telling you about. we heard from the national security minister at mart been given here the other day. he essentially said that the police were going to crack down on any festivities when it came to palestinians celebrating the release of prisoners. and he was talking about areas under his jurisdiction. but he was also saying that he would hope that the army would do the same. and the reason he was suggesting that was because the police force doesn't have jurisdiction in occupied west bank. his police force has jurisdiction in occupied east jerusalem. and so he was saying that he would like there to see would like to see that also
1:53 am
the army in the occupied westbank would track down on celebrations there as well. again, this just goes to show when we talk to post indians, they say this just shows that the injustice they faced on a daily basis. tonight, the mix of emotions that we've seen, it's been a roller coaster for this family. they started off earlier in the evening, being happy that they might see a loved one that they haven't been able to see for 8 years. then they have to deal with thinking that perhaps a ceasefire deal was collapsing. and maybe they would not see her again. then it looks like she is going to be released. then we're told that she's being transported, that's what the family was hearing, although it wasn't completely confirmed. and then in the last 15 minutes or so, you have these uh, this, this platoon of, of police forces coming to the house, emptying the area. and now everybody's waiting again. when is,
1:54 am
when is the prisoner going to arrive? what is the family going to be able to do? are they going to face as they asked us, are they going to face harassment from the days to come? are they going to be able to speak to the media? are they going to be able to celebrate? they just don't know. and that's why there is so much concern and so much frustration. mohammed elizabeth, sorry we believe the police are coming back now. mom and i wouldn't let you go mohammed because uh it sounds like the very fluid situation. and if you do is it looks like you might need to move again. so we will leave you bet for now. but no doubt we will come back to use and that is well how much i'm june. but the lease has from as close as he can get to the house of one of the prisoners female prisoners who was being palestinian prisoners who is going to be released imminently. that's an occupied east jerusalem. that's bringing child stratford. he's lost the rise and i'll be to in the occupied westbank and charles,
1:55 am
we've really been seeing that crowd behind you swell over the last few hours. and now we a hearing from the is ratings that the 13 on palestinian prisoners have been released . oh, that's right, yeah. and the crowd have really beginning to to get big a lot of flags now beginning to appear noticeably the green flag of having us great expectation here. i didn't and amongst these crowd as you say that are all family members that are expecting the loved ones to be on these policies. i'll be speaking to uh, a number of them. and yes, very much mixed emotions. joy on a personal family level that they are going to be seeing their loved ones, hopefully in the next in the next hours also. but at the same time, very much changed with sadness. and i think uh, a lot of the time is, well,
1:56 am
i'm obviously angry at what's been happening and garza the, the level of the kidding, the, the level of suffering that fell upon the city and gauze or having to enjoy. busy the fact that there is no and didn't sides to the wall, realistically watched when, as well, 5 minutes and as at yahoo continues to say that the job will not be done until how much he's completely smashed and no political. and so i the off to the end of a will, there will say very much where the families will also tell you that, you know, there. so it's very much with this thousands of other palestinians in these variety trials. well over 7000 of the many of whom know and decides to their incarceration . so yeah, although the atmosphere here is, is one of excitement and anticipation, it is also changed with a lot of sadness, a lot of and as, as tension across the west,
1:57 am
pine continues to mount as we pull to there. all these on going is really ministry raise that happen every night in various towns and cities. there's one that's been happening for the last 4 or 5 hours and then all of us you have to name at least 4 people killed in that right? that's code into the policy and those are 2 uh, 2 of those, 2 of those people, i believe to be teenagers. and also a young man killed a couple of hours ago. again, according to the palestinian authority, close to to legally is riley settlement, which is already about 5 minutes from where we stand here. so yes, there is on tissue pricing and excitement building here, but you know, a lot of pay a lot of and a lot of sadness, right? so that the situation continued seemingly to deteriorate in the occupied with the much the spiked this prison, the release happening as we speak. charles,
1:58 am
thank you very much for that. and we will of course, be going back to chiles of the next few hours over the next few hours. that's for me. elizabeth cronum. thank you very much for watching the. this is what it is like for palestinians and his radio occupied territories. every day of the year, all the trees security checks the day, the old deal, especially for young palestinian men. you ask me for my ideas. how does to new se then not going out unless they have to to avoid arrest check points and harassment from angry is really odd. non side tells us he feels the situation has less than to palestinians. on sunday, he was chased by launch group. this is randy settlers want on his way to what? i think his rating supermarket, the security guard came over shouting about pointing a gun at my face and forced me to the ground. it was discrimination only because on
