3:00 am
to as a principal presenter, as, as a correspondence with any breaking the story we want to hear from those people who would normally not get that forces on the international news channels. one moment i'll be very proud all was when we covered the pool last week of 2015 at the terrible natural disaster stuff. and the story that needed to be told from the hall of the affected area to be then to tell the people story. it was very important at the time the tiers enjoy and auto body students. and then there's a 2nd group of 39 palestinians, a release to was made in prison and reunited with their families. elsewhere in the occupied west bank, massive price or not to greet the women and children as they arrive shortly up to be set free. meanwhile, 13 is rarely use and for 5 captives are released by hamas and are back in israel as
3:01 am
part of the prisoner exchange the i'm about this and then this is all just a life and don't have also coming up. the prisoner exchange was delayed on almost the rails off of a dispute over a shock switch of enrolling into gaza carrying food, stool, and medicine. and why that's common guys of that happy more is really raising the occupied westbank, at least for palestinians are killed in geneva, the double o g m t that's 2 am in gaza after a delay of several hours. the exchange of a 2nd group of his ready captives held in gauze over palestinian prisoners in his many jails has happened. that had been tearful reunion so ready and occupied east jerusalem. the prisoner as well was briefly put on hold saturday evening. as
3:02 am
homeless accuse israel of failing to fulfill the times of the agreement and he is 13, is very captives and for time nationals released by homeless, arrived back in israel. transported by the red cross is the 2nd exchange of captives in this many days. and all paused for 4 days. he spied agreement mediated by contents, which all struck for his life for us and alberta and occupied westbank. as with the palestinians awaiting degreed. some of those 39 prisoners who just being with these charles, we've been watching and the previous are pictures of the buses transporting the palestinian prisoners. talk us through what's behind, what's behind you and what the people are feeling at the moment as well. yes, it seems that the journey from over a prison full that boss carrying those prisoners, as you can imagine, it's taking quite a long time. um we understand that in any normal situation, it's around about 10 minutes from here, a 10 minute drive in area code. my so just speaking to people who are tracking it,
3:03 am
but yeah, as you can see, thousands of people have gathered here and the crowds have increased throughout the evening in expectation of, of meeting these prisoners greeting these prisoners and celebrating with them and the families we've been speaking to some of the families here throughout the night . as we been reporting many of them expressing great personal joy and relief, but eventually being able to see their loved ones, many of whom have spent considerable times incarcerated in these riley jails. but also mixed emotions. people have very much aware that the war and gaza seems nowhere near over. i people of course, as you can imagine in great solidarity ways that felt like palestinians in garza, also concerns here about these ongoing ministry is really ministry rates to the happening right. the way across the occupied westbank um every night now. um let's just put that in context. the palestinians of the occupied westbank itself,
3:04 am
a gaze of similar kind of rage, but they have increased dramatically since the beginning of the war since those times attacks on october the 7th. and as you mentioned in the, in show at least 4 people killed in a race this evening on the town of jeanine. also another palestinian killed not far from here. according to the palace, sending those or to the else ministry, a young man who shot dead close to and it's really a legal sacrament. but yes, i suppose in the law solve an hour or so. we've heard this be the occasional chair and a so you people have moved down down the street to thinking that the buses or the bus was close, seemingly. it's not. but yeah, the mood has changed considerably over the hours. because of course that what was that delay? and it was a great feeling of, of depression and disappointments at that stage. and then we began to trickling through information. that's uh those is ready,
3:05 am
the captives have been released. and then we heard news. we sold a list of 39 palestinian prisoners that were due to be released satellites and the moods changed immediately. and yeah, so as i say speaking to, to the family members around that time. it was just, it was great to see basically that their expressions suddenly change. one woman telling us that and you know, she had left her daughter, she is waiting for her son to arrive. he having spent the last year 17 year old teenager the last year and it is riley, joe, she said that she left to adult or the home and not listen promised that she would bring her brother back with him. and at that time, you know, before that list was on alps, she was, she was very skipped school today and see the joy on her face. and to see that her son was indeed on this that she said that she'd immediately go to on the phone. 2
3:06 am
adults or not listen a to tell her the good news that that the brother will be reunited with a very soon. but as i say it's uh, it's mixed emotions here. of course, that have been well, could all googly be described as, as threats? certainly by the fall, right. and it is miles threatening a saying that basically palestinians should not be celebrating in the occupied territories most specifically or with more emphasis on occupied in a occupied east jerusalem. and we know that there are a number of women that are being released in, in, in that area this evening. and we've heard from our reporters on the ground that they've families, therapy, facing, repeated intimidation and threats from the is really minute, you know, to celebrate. but as you can imagine, certainly here in bill a very close to ramallah, there's no sign as yet of any kind of intimidation here. directly on this location
3:07 am
is that it would be pretty inconceivable to say the is rightly ministry breaking up a celebration like that. but yeah, it's important to recognize that today obviously is the 2nd day of this full day hope will cease 5 in gauze, we're expecting hopefully to see another trunks of prisoners. and another load of capt to prison is released into, into the occupied territories. and, and capture is ready to catch is released back into israel tomorrow. but if those delays are an indication of the kind of problems potential problems that, that my, i hate, nothing is such. and so at the moment it's very much one night or one day to time. but yeah, great relief is that finally, seemingly, these prisoners could be arriving here. one would think, at least well in the next hour or so. yeah, just as we're waiting for those buses to arrive, jones, i was just looking through the list that you were talking about that have been
3:08 am
released about the 39 palestinians. 6 of them are when the balance of them. 33 of them are young man. what do we know about the palestinians who have been released? yeah, so a lot of teenagers amongst these, these, these groups as a similar scenario yesterday. uh, we've been talking a lot about the conditions that we know that they've got a suffered angel. we spoke a lot about what's called administrative detention. this is a ruling that the, the, the, the is ready occupying policies use as a means of basically holding potentially prisoners some very young for indefinite periods on. basically using, using evidence that is not disclose to the prisoners. and the lawyers which human rights groups say, obviously, as you can imagine,
3:09 am
makes it very difficult for them to mount a particular, any kind of defense. and these kind of sentences or story not sentences, these kind of jail terms can go on for a long time. and we know that the prisoners that or the families that we've been speaking to today, we know that some of the prisoners that some of their loved ones have been subjected to this kind of treatment. i've also spoken about the kind of conditions that they've learned that their loved ones have. i've enjoyed inside these riley jails and we're talking about no access, for example, to any kind of communication with their loved ones, but for weeks months. sometimes if, if not even, even long ago, we've heard about solitary confinement being used. we've heard about lack of access to medical care. a number of the families that we've spoken to today have told us that on 2 occasions, at least, the sons were badly injured before they were detained before they would take it
3:10 am
into is rarely prisons. and they was saying that they were denied the requisite until the needed medical care at the time. so they going to be very, as you can imagine, very relieved to as the sun's back with them turn the light. so as it is now, one's 2 in the morning. but guess as you say, a number of women as well. in fact, we were expecting the release of a female prisoner to reset the longest jail time of all the male prisoners should be released this evening as well. we tried repeatedly to do what we call a one plus one, an interview, live on television for you, but the mother is so emotionally over role. she is so over joy potentially to be seeing adults or again that she has has refused to speak to. so yes, because uh, yeah, another indication of, of, of just how we pulled the is on a personal level for these families. but yeah, it's again, really important to put this in context. in terms of obviously what people are
3:11 am
thinking about in relation to what's going on. so inside garza and the level of suffering that the gardens are enjoying and yes, this increasing intimidation of difficulties that are being presented by these is riley military rides that are happening every night. right. the way across the occupied west bank. yeah. which as, as you'd be speaking to, is we can just say top right hand corner of our screen there. they're kind of the previous pictures that we had on the bus carrying the palestinian prisoners, which is be surrounded by crowds and being accompanied by what appears to be a large con, via vehicles as well. it's probably no surprise that it's taking quite a time to get to where you are at the moment. obviously, as soon as those that bus arrives and prisoners get off the bus, you're going to be there to cover that for us. we'll come back to you, but for now, charles, thanks very much indeed. well, how much i'm doing as being outside the family home of use that job is one of the
3:12 am
female prisoners released by israel and occupied east jerusalem. yesterday we were speaking with a manny high seem who had been in jail for 7 years and she was released last night . we were at her family home after she returned and her family had said that the police. okay, we may have to move again, just give us a 2nd here. okay, i think we're all right now. they have been visited by the police no less than 7 times before she was released and brought home and warned repeatedly. and the palestinians that i've been speaking with the past few days, say that this just shows the pattern of persecution that they continue to face. we can just take a look here. i was just going to move the camera to show you the battalion of the security forces, these border police and other members of the police force that have shown up here this quite soon. it is now emerging from the house and it looks like they are on
3:13 am
their way out. we're just going to try to follow them. and we were told earlier, just give us a 2nd here. we're just trying to get here trying to move. all right. anyway, this pattern of, as i was saying before, we have been told about 5 many palestinians we've been speaking with is the fact that they are prevented from holding any kind of sensitivity or celebrating their freedom. showcase is a pattern of persecution that continues and that this is really indicative of the palestinian experience for so many palestinians. and the people that we speak with say that these palestinians that they are unjustly detained, they are held without trial. they are held for indefinite periods of time. and again, it just goes to what they say is the injustice of what they experience on a day to day basis here. well let's get some more on the captive. so were released
3:14 am
by hum us and then know back in israel honda saw hoops and occupied east jerusalem for us. so what do we know about the release and how does that one down? i'm where the people are now well, at this hour, all of the captives who have been released are at several different hospitals and the tel aviv area renew, needing with their families. all of this comes after a 2nd day of the captives being released, the facilitation by the red cross to the crossing where they were then taken into the hands of these really military to undergo identification processes. they then crossed into was really territory went to a military base in the south, where they under went the 1st medical check. after that all of them were transported via helicopter to several different hospitals where they are now reuniting with their families. however, before all of that,
3:15 am
before they were taken via helicopter news, really health ministry is saying, but a 21 year old woman who was released was an urgent need of medical care. she was taken immediately to a hospital and the health ministry says she is now in stable condition. all of this comes after hours of a delay in the process of releasing the captive v, as really, as were saying that they had done everything on their end to uphold the deal, but how mass was saying otherwise. so after this, more than 7 hour delay, the captives were released in the 2nd day of the ceasefire. that is expected to last up to 4 days on the what's been the reaction to the release of the kept as both inside israel, but also internationally. well the is really prime minister benjamin netanyahu released the statement saying that he
3:16 am
welcomes the captives back into was really territory. and that the mission is not over until all of those who were taken on october 7th or back in is really territory. now, there has been some international reaction of the captives who were released today at 4 of them are also german citizens and berlin. releasing his statement saying that they were relieved about the news of the return of quotes. they were incredibly relieved to learn that they were released from dogs among them for germans, a father after $49.00 days in captivity. they are back home. now. additionally, we've been hearing from the irish for administer regarding a 9 year old girl and who was released today as well. saying that he's quote, delighted by the release of emily, who was an irish, is really a citizen who was actually her father previously was notified that
3:17 am
she was dead and then received notice later on that she was held captive by him. so she has since been reunited with her father at the hospital in terms of the is really society. they have been welcoming the captives back. they have even organized a demonstration earlier this evening and which there were around a 100000 people in attendance that according to the demonstration organizers, and they're saying that there is cautious optimism. because while they are relieved for some of these captives to be returning, there is still a large number of them who have not yet been returned. who are not. 1 of this deal, remember at the end of these 4 days, it is only going to be women and children who are released in a total number of 50. and the is rarely as has been saying, so that they are open to an extension of the ceasefire. for every additional 10
3:18 am
captives who are released, there will be another pause in the fighting. however, these really defense minister jo, i've got launch well touring, gaza today for the 1st time since the war began. said that these really are not going to leave the gaza strip until all the captives are returned and that any other future negotiations or deals are going to happen while there is fighting ongoing. and he said, quote, well, bombs are falling, and these really forces are fighting in the gaza strip. so when it comes to future deals, it's still a lot of unknown because these rallies are saying, but nothing is final, even in this deal until the 4 days are over. and the 50 captives, as stipulated in the original agreement are back in is really territory that we've been talking about, the delay that for several hours or so before the swap, finally took place. i'm homeless, was accusing about mates, the several accusations against israel not upholding it's part of the deal. one of
3:19 am
those was set to be a delay over at about some age trucks, not being allowed to get to the north of guys or what is israel is response to all of this. there's these accusations that are being made. israel has denied all of the accusations made against them these really military spokesperson, daniel, how god is speaking tonight, said that israel has done everything on there and to withhold their side of the deal. however, how much came out with several different things that these really they say had violated in the agreement, these really military spokesperson went on to say that if this cease fire deal the agreement of the exchange of the captives and the prisoners was violated, that these rallies were going to resume the fighting immediately and he said even banking and in and noting the important role of the mediators who rushed to
3:20 am
emergency negotiations like the buddies and the objections to help facilitate the 2nd day of the captives release. so well there was this long period of delay. these really is have denied any wrong doing on their part of the deal and said that they had upheld all of the promises thus far. and there were even reports from is really officials speaking to is really media saying that the is really military had said that if by midnight the captives were not returned, the fighting would resume immediately via air, land and sea. so while we are entering the 3rd day of the ceasefire, these relatives are saying that there are still a lot of unknowns and nothing will be final until the end of the 4 days when the agreement has passed and those 50 captives, as promised in the deal are returned into is really territory and remember in
3:21 am
exchange for that there will be a $150.00 palestinian prisoners also women and children who will be taken out of his rarely presence. honda, thank you very much indeed. is honda soto talking to is from occupied east jerusalem? want to bring you some live fix is that we've gotten all the bus that's carrying the palestinian prison is in the occupied west bank. its heading towards um, i'll be the and the occupied westbank where a large crowd has been waiting for it for several hours now. but as you can see, the bus itself is surrounded by crowds coming flags. we also have seen it trying to make his way through normally fairly quiet streets, but i'm surrounded by a convoy of vehicles which has been accompanying it on his journey. and our correspondents, so struck phil just telling us out here that's a journey that normally would take about 10 minutes. but this has been taking months much longer than not, at least probably, i'm guessing maybe 15 minutes, possibly an hour. but the time it actually gets to, i'll be at,
3:22 am
i'm our correspondence shows, properties waiting with our crew there. i saw the bus to arrive at, i'll do it as soon as it does or live. of course we're going to go to charles and get his assessment of what's the um, the, the, the mood is like, i can see actually on another feed as well. it does look as though the gosh, maybe getting closer to it. we can see crowds be named beginning to make their way through the streets. cat again, coming flags to somebody in somebody shoulder there you can see for the cries, have been uh, building up and building up. it looks as though the boss is going to be with there within a matter of minutes. so, so we're gonna leave that for the moment, but as soon as the bus does arrive in, i'll be there. we're going to go to child stratford and pick up the atmosphere of what's going on. i'm just trying to look to see if there's a flashing light on the left hand side of the screen there. and i'm just wondering if that's a could somebody who is ahead of the bus, but i can't quite see it from here. we're gonna leave it for
3:23 am
a moment and we're gonna, we're gonna go and talk about some other. but some pieces particularly from honey, must move because he's out more on the reasons for the delay that the honda was just talking about in this prison or exchange change thing in con eunice in gaza. a statement came, they said by how much military wing they'll then forget and then later on a speech by a senior, how much the official from the root is stated, the clearly what, where are the reasons behind the delay? it was more of a suspension of the swab deal, a given a 3 violations, the cited by the, by how much. and it's military when the 1st the violation have to do with the it. but these really barring the, the free flow of humanitarian aid of trucks into the guys to particularly into the northern part of guys a much needed area for humanitarian aid and admitted to supplies and food supplies
3:24 am
. but unfortunately, out of the 200, it humanitarian, 80 truck that we're allows us to do, only a limited number of them reads the northern part of the oven, just to compare that to the dire need. the people stranded in the north and part of the city and those limited numbers of a trucks where did not cause any significant change on the, on the ground. people in the notified are hungry. the thursday, the medical supply, the needs medical assistance and you need access to drinking water. most the water in the northern part is contaminated and not suitable for human consumption. they needed a fuel link between gas just to get through the days after 48 days of ongoing bombardment and, and relentless airstrikes, literally destroying every means of life in the know the fight. another violation was cited by the end. the statement had to do with the 1500000
3:25 am
palestinians in the sending part was activated in the were or dividers, really military to move to the southern part to avoid bombing, we're not allowed to go back. and the fact that they were, this is really military established, but it's called the ceasefire line. and how to block the roads while i have been roads as for the people coming through the northern parts. so few people at many of the people at the early hours of the morning made their way in attempt to go to the north, to check on their homes and to see their relatives and loved one. but unfortunately were shut at my live i munition and entered guys, 2 people were reported killed and many were injured at that incident. a 3rd violation signed it in both a statement in the speech. it was the at the bridge of the no fly. it's tough to time is free and between 10 am in the morning and 4 pm. that's 6 hours of no fly timeframe,
3:26 am
but as fi and surveillance drone was flooded in the cause of the gods. for together these reasons at 1st, how much then it's military. when to delay the, the swab, until it gets reassurance. is it from this very side that it was going to adhere to the terms of it's condition and vice he'd be involved and by the cutter in addiction? the how much receive the those assurances and, and then responded to the request by the egyptian and the country and proceeded with the uh, the, the release of the captives from guys and a lot of pictures from alba and occupies a west bank where the prisoners or some of the palestinian prisoners have just arrived. i mentioned earlier that it was somebody being carried on the shoulders of somebody else whom i understand the men that you can see wearing grey sweat shirts on some of the palestinian prisoners have been released from is really jails. and
3:27 am
just within the last couple of hours or so, let's go to child stratford, whose life photos is there, where the palestinians have been waiting to greet the prisoners for several hours. now, charles tokens to what you're saying. well i'm just gonna last uh it's gonna cost all camera. i'm not here to panel. so you're going to look at this. yes, the day these all some of the palestinian prisoners that in the last 10 minutes so . so have arrived on roy the so you say that they are wearing greys went this way on the sign to be the, the clothing that they were released from the city and charles wearing many of these guys look very young indeed, but great scene of joy and relief as they all welcome bye. every day, part of citizens here goes to the crowd,
3:28 am
all family members, as well. it is taking a good an hour and a home for them to arrive here as the the bus that they were being transported on east its way through the crowds of people. but as you see, the flags and many green flags all all have last swags. but you know, this is, this is not a celebration that is being anybody being dominated by any of the, the factions there, all other sites, families looms of life that have come out. i waited for hours and hours. so they saying to just to a pay for these prisoners to be released. the problem is that we'd be speaking to, to have express mixed emotions personally with joy. but of course, in the context, because the ongoing board goals are defined so many thousands in the city and
3:29 am
prisoners revise is riley giles tells uh it is the case as a way to that in previous circumstances. when we seen prisoner release a prisoner release is lights, there's, there has been in the past a period of time that has passed. and subsequently some of those prisoners have seen re arrested by it is rarely forces as well. this is something one would imagine. that is on the minds of all the families of relatives and of course, the prisoners themselves. roy, and many of the problem is a big company to express exactly those kind of phase. there is a freight, a freight set of on search and see the picture of a young young baby like this that the lives will pool their future potentially could well be living under is riley ok. patients and there is no sense or no certainty to that,
3:30 am
to the lives of many of them, all big support, which is even, it's too young age of, you know, the resistance groups, but all so popular across your keyboard territories. you know, groups that see themselves as having a legitimate right to defend themselves. but as you can see, the pictures some of these, some of these are all my kids. and we know that they wouldn't be a, that would, of reading costs are right. people. something as simple as hurting starns, funding. wrong city use, right. a bit of tree. and so yeah, i, i the right side. great on certain say this to i, suzanne future. now this as you, as you can see, this is a celebration and then we're going to be hunting down some of the findings that we spoke to the us to try and get sound hey,
3:31 am
that reaction.
