the the. ringback the years president joe biden test positive for cobra account is supposed to come see the campaign events in las vegas. the other ones are in jordan, this is out. is there a license office that's coming up? donald trump's running mate said he's done so set to address the republican national convention where they live in nova. there's where the army continues to target residential buildings across the guns, at least $27.00 out of demands on killed in a tux across the district. and the us,
2:01 am
some of the tree announces and it's floating aids, and it also comes to come to the us president joe biden has tested positive a covered wall campaigning in las vegas. the white house says he's experiencing mild symptoms from the infection by, from the had been due to speak at an event, and that rallying hispanic voters, but has now flagged to his home in delaware. officials say he will suffice for late while continuing to carry out all his duties fully. this and the 3rd time that the 81 year old has cooled, coven. but it comes with vitamin sizes, increasing pressure to step aside because of his age. i was just on the phone with president biden and he shared his deep disappointment at not being able to join us this afternoon. so the present has
2:02 am
been at many events as we all know. and he just tested positive for cove it what's on engine is in washington dc with the reaction from the white house with the 1st let's go to rob rentals. he's the in las vegas and rob. so president biden was supposed to give that important speech to this group of latino vote. just tell us how the announcement was made, then what more we know about his condition, rob, hello, rob. right, it looks as though we've, uh, we've lost rob reynolds or try and come back to him if we can. let's call 7 now to john, let's customer to that statement of the white house made because they released the statement following the announcement of president biden's positive tests for koby. the press secretary carrying john pet says the earlier today, following his 1st event in las vegas, president biden tested positive for code. 19 these vaccinated and boosted and he's experiencing miles symptom. see, will be returning to delaware,
2:03 am
where he will satisfy slate and will continue to carry out all of his duties fully during that time. all right, let's go to join hands and now he joins us live from washington dc, a john de la. so this must come as a bump show for the white house, what more they've been saying, and how important is it for the white house to be trans sparren's about all of this? well, the wind has made the announcement initially, or rather it was made of the event in las vegas at the white house is a presumed decor request. and that's important because it shows in immediate candor, they didn't cancel the event and not explain why it was going to happen. but it's critical that the white house be very crystal clear and being transparent about this. because there is a big concern around the country that bibles, mental and physical condition has been hibbon from the public that he's been concealed among a small group of age. and that for a very long time, he wasn't doing major free wheeling big network interviews. but he wasn't on the
2:04 am
road in, in, in a major way until recently. and he has done that recently. after is disastrous debate performance at june 27th. i believe that was in advance when the public at large grew concerned that showed members of the democratic party and a just now one of the american networks abc news is reporting that chuck schumer, the a democratic leader of the us senate apparently told biden on saturday that it would be best if he would end his campaign. that is an enormous blow to the binding campaign. if schumer goes public with that, it would be devastating. biden is already dealing with fundraisers, now declining to give money to the democrats, if he remains their standard there. and so it's important that the campaign a become transparent about his health let the public know show him physically
2:05 am
being all right, and then be getting back on the campaign trail as soon as they can. because while he is absent and presumably a coterie of aids around him, maybe ill as well with cove and we don't know. donald trump is at the republican national convention about 2 weeks set their nomination and give a big push, or rather having about to accept their nomination on thursday and giving a big speech. he has just escaped an assassin, a bullet in pennsylvania, and she looks vigorous compared divide and then it's not biting. solve the contract, it drove it, but the timing couldn't possibly be worse when of so many people are questioning biden's health, his heart that needs to be president for another for years. so they really have to get out in front of it. just the, just just the big picture on the optics, john, i mean, what are the political consequences now for that democratic campaign and even on binding to himself and that with all the worries about his frailty and his health,
2:06 am
whether he stays or whether he goes as well, the pressure has been on bite and already there had been quiet, talk among leading democrats. there are some democrats who've gone public, but not the big, you know, important people who really would hold the power to persuade him to step down. now we're seeing more of that, but what's happened is that after the attempted assassination, people thought it was perhaps disrespectful to leave this campaign to push bide now . and during the republican national convention, it also is something that people it held back on because it publicly anyway, because it would make the democratic leader look weak. but now there is serious concern in this just raises another health question at a time, and bible doesn't need it. so if democrats come out and become more vocal, that's a real problem. biden has been talking to individual interest groups, progressives,
2:07 am
hispanics and others. and some of those calls have not gone well. some of the people in those calls have called for biden to step down. so it's just a particularly bad time for him to have a physical illness. while the democrats, some of them are nipping at his heels, are all right to join hands on life as the from washington dc job run and jump. thank you very much that let's go to rub reynolds. now. he's live for us from las vegas. rob, so i present bite and was supposed to give that important speech to latino voters tell us how the announcement was made, then what more we know about his condition of a so yes, uh the uh, the crowd of the people who are here, delegates to the national convention, if we need o. c. u. s. a. latin latino of civil rights, an activist group had been waiting patiently for hours for president biden to show up. and then uh at uh after uh,
2:08 am
he had been for about an hour and a half late. the president of the group of janet and there we took to the stage and made the announcement that shocked everyone in the hall from the waiter's to the journalist or were here saying that the president was not going to make his speech as planned. instead, he had tested positive for cove and we can reconstruct a little bit more of the president's day, a bite and woke here in las vegas after a day yesterday in which he gave a speech to the n, a, c p, the african american black civil rights organization, i was there for that speech. it was delivered forcefully. he was not coughing or showing any symptoms of, of any kind of respiratory distress. but this morning he had an event which was a radio interview with the one of his young news networks that was held at
2:09 am
a mexican cuisine restaurant. carlindo walked up here in las vegas and after that at some point, shortly after that apparently the president was tested and he did test positive for cove. and he was then given packs loaded, and is now on his way back. aboard air force one to the east coast. he'll be landing at dover air force base and delaware, and then going to his home on the delaware shore. and the atlantic ocean enroll with delaware, and he will be self isolating there for an independent room and periods of time present symptoms described as mild, runny nose, slight fever, some non productive, coughing, a general feeling of uh, on wellness blaze as the presence position put it in a statement that the white house issued almost immediately after the announcement came here, but it definitely came as a, as a dramatic shock in this room. darren,
2:10 am
i can tell you, nobody was expecting this and you know, it's kind of rippled through the crowd. the journalists immediately leaped up and, and started talking into their microphones. we had the good fortune of being on the air already, but the, the, the announcement was, was a stunner. and now it is the sense that his campaign into a state of the something close to being stunned as well as john was just yeah. outlining to us in his analysis. yeah. and well, but you know, you've been following button on the campaign trail. what does this not mean for him? i mean, he clearly, as you say, once do re emerge on the trail and gain back some ground off of that dissolved space debates and concerns of his mental well being. and his frailty eccles. it's right and he's the president adamantly the rejected any suggestion that he drop out that he stepped aside that he was not. well,
2:11 am
he said he just had a bad night on june 27th. that debate experienced that you referred to a moment ago. darren and it so he was just full full steam ahead. he got kind of a, i would say probably of a psychological boost room is reception at the end. a c p conference yesterday where he was applauded and greeted with chance of 4 more years. but now, you know, we can say one thing for sure, factually. he's going to be self isolating. he's going to be at home. he's not going to be out on the campaign trail. so he will miss crucial days when he could otherwise be making speeches, attending events, you know, shaking hands, kissing babies, whatever is not going to be able to do any of that now, because he's going to be at home recovering from a uh, transmissible, uh, contagious disease. and receiving treatment. so that's one thing that we can say,
2:12 am
factually. the, the other things that, that we can speculate about, or it's for speak with some degree of insight about is that this is definitely not a good thing for his campaign. overall, as john was just saying, it comes at the worst possible time as he was trying to re establish himself present an image of, of a bigger and confidence. saying that yes, i may be old. i may not run as fast as i used to, but i know how to do this job on projecting wisdom and all that sort of thing as a, as an answer though, to the increasing calls for him to step down, just today, adam shift a democrat of some renown in the house for leading the 1st impeachment effort against then president donald trumps. and now are candidate for senate in california, a called for bite, and to step down, he said he doubted very much that he could beat trump and said it was time to pass
2:13 am
the torch. we will have to listen closely to the political drums beating over the next several hours and days to see if those cries are those out of cries or calls become louder and big and come from different directions. all right. yeah, rentals live for us. the in las vegas, rob, thank you. what donald trump choice for vice president and how many jersey vance is set to address the republican national convention on day 3 of the conference? the focus is now turning to foreign policy issues, including biden's handling of israel is more on god's i'm allowed to 0 is out in official, joins us live now from the convention in milwaukee in wisconsin island. so with the news that president biden's tested positive for cobra, them and how is that likely to play out there at the convention? because there's now this huge contrast and the optics isn't there. between trump and button trump up here. strong is the vibe and assassination attempt and binding with concerns of his frailty, a now catching cogan. and you can bet that they're going to compare and
2:14 am
contrast. we'll make the points that the joe biden had to come off the campaign till 48 hours after an assassination attempt. donald trump was here at the convention. certainly just texting with a few republicans in the last 20 minutes or so. one thing that they say is that just 24 hours ago, joe biden gave an interview and said that if the doctor said he had an illness that would hinder his campaign. and if there was an illness that would stop them carrying it to the job of president for another 4 years, he would step aside. and republicans, some of them think this is it, this is, this is joe biting. is that this is him opening the door to be able to step out of the race, not least because he is looking at the polls and sees that donald trump is leading in all the key swing states. you can talk about national polls and how is that within the margin of better? but when you start looking at the $560.00, so will probably the sizes race. donald trump is
2:15 am
a head. and in most cases above the margin of that is that something that defines will address as well when he speaks, he of course, is donald trump's new vice presidential candidate. he'll introduce himself to the american people during his speech. later this evening. i know many people know about him outside political circles outside of washington. i cited the media. they maybe have read his memoir hillbilly allergy, but a lot of them don't know his story and that's what he's got to try and get across. but what the democrats will try and do is say, look, this guy is dangerous, he doesn't support, continue support for you 3. he's also an up. so this is what it comes to. a portion of the things that you'd be new except she's not even for rate or in a and says, and he's very much behind the controversial projects. 2025, which would see i'll, uh, essentially a lot of big changes that would please the right way in the stream. right wing of
2:16 am
the republican party. and so they will paint him as dangerous, but they don't get the chance to do that tonight. this is about him taking the stage and selling himself, not just to the people in the hole you'd already convinced because donald trump is back to him, but to the wider audience, right across america who may be tuning. and i'm not just as days free of the convention lies on j. d events, but that keynote speed slides. so what's that? what's the mood like now in the whole, behind you on what more can we expect? this is incredibly boy here that they, they, they've seen essentially a run, a very good luck for donald trump. uh, a he essentially won the debate by default because to bite and lost it and lost it very badly. he said, the number of successful court cases go ahead, a number of court decisions we should say, go his way over the last week or so. and then there was an assassination attempt the field, a key, a match, looking strong and defiant. and the people here are boy and the boy by that. and so
2:17 am
when they see how badly joe biden is doing in the polls and that this, that this latest line about them catching cove, it wouldn't change the perception one bit see think that the on course to do a clean sweep come november, which would mean winning the house winning the senate and also the winning the white coast. what is interesting is the democrats said that they wanted tumble of hottest to debate to the buttons very quickly. a vice presidential debate, if you will. the republicans responded by saying they'd be happy to debate, but they want to see who the vice president will be. first. we see, let's see who couple of how does fix as a running me know that me come over is a bit split too, but it's actually quite funny. and it got a lot of play on social media as well. and sums up the confidence that is in this whole confidence that the democrats are going to help work really hard to try and
2:18 am
replicate when they have their convention in chicago. all right, to adam such a life as the republican national convention in milwaukee island. thank you. as well as bringing them because she's an associate professor. i'm a student of public policy at the university of maryland, and she joins us live from hyattsville in maryland. the i'm be good to have you with us again. first of all, your response to the president catching co. but what does this now mean for binding? i mean he currently wants to re image on the campaign trailer gain back some ground off about disasters, debate and concerns of it has meant the wellbeing is frailty and not always got code, but it's a disaster, isn't it? thank you for having me back and it is, i mean, i think it's just been one thing after another, but i said earlier, now say it again, getting cold with a bit of law. it is a hot spot right now in berries, various places across the united states, including nevada, where he just was in so that he would contract code or even down from the contract code. but at this point, certainly surprised any of the cobra is bill arrives. we don't mask anymore,
2:19 am
and they're out here shaking a lot of hands are given a lot of those. so it couldn't happen at worst time, but it doesn't have to be fido either. yeah, i mean, meanwhile, low now the time is running out to $73.00 and a half months to the election and that increases the pressure on the democrats and with bite and now catching co. but it's not a good look. is it? no, but neither. 34 felonies for the other presidential candidate. and yet no one asked him to step out of the rate. i think we have to be balanced here in our, in our thinking about what's at stake. neither these men are young. neither of these men are in probably the best day for their lives. neither be been, are probably at the top of their game. donald trump was looking rather tired the other evening. so i think we have to be honest about that. but they're still a long road to november. we're not even at september yet, so i wouldn't be, you know, polishing up. you know, the china yet in the white house about republicans. they're still time. does this now mean then the couple of hours will have to step up her schedule, step up her game and try and plug that gap on the campaign trail. absolutely,
2:20 am
and i think this is why, you know, vice president to picks are important. people usually don't put a law stock in vice president. they don't have their own agendas per se, but these are the moments when you need a strong number 2. this is typically why you see the ticket balance between young, you know, a more experience or less experience because of moments like this. so absolutely kala harris, whose job is up to be quite a capable communicator. who has the real political bonus cities to do this. will have to come to the for more and i think really for the democrats, it couldn't happen at a better time. i think many debates have been clamoring for carla harris to get more screen time more air time. and i think this is the perfect moment for her to do that. um, now be, let me get a final thoughts from you before you go. i mean, meanwhile, more pressure is being heat on joe biden. to end his re election bid. another high profile democrat adam ship is also urging him to go yeah, i think this is a,
2:21 am
a dumb move, quite frankly, on the part of the democrats. one thing the republicans do is they are very good soldiers and they line it behind their person very well. there been a lot of people including j. d bands who had a lot to say about donald trump, who said that they would never been the niece. and yet they were all there last evening and this evening and the night before. all doing that right behind donald trump. a man with multiple felony convictions and still other tries to come despite the the dismissal from the other day. and yet they lined up behind their hor, may not be the person they want, but this is the person that they pay. the democrats have to do the same thing. it might not be the person that you want, but this is the person that you picked a gift some people objection even born years ago. the fact that divide as old is not news. he's been out for 4 years. people told you this been, but you kept saying no, no, no, and then one disastrous debate and then it all falls apart. i think give a crap or if they're going to lose, it's going to be because of that. not because of job,
2:22 am
i'm now been taught to always go to get your thoughts and your knowledge to say well now to 0. thank you very much indeed for talking to us now me thank you. let's bring and john ferry is a republican strategist in part and that the if the advocacy that say between loving and strategic advocacy thing that draws us live from milwaukee. i'm good to have you with us. uh, john, 1st of all, your response to joe biden catching color, but i mean, he couldn't, as i guess, just said he couldn't come to worst time for the democrats, but it so well, it gives them a permanent other excuse to try to uh, get him out of the running um yes, uh that show button. it has co but again in that he's, he's been there many times a job and i thought the job was supposed to work, but it hasn't really work the job. i hope you know that he survives this amazing, you know, be able to continue with the campaign, but it's not good news for joe biden. it shows that you have someone who's that old getting told, but again, it's, it's not a good story for him. yeah, antonio,
2:23 am
the uh, the republican national convention. let me start with j. d. find some lies will be on him later tonight when he gives his key notes page. one thing you, as a republican, want to hear from j d events tonight. for you, i want to hear his live story and how is life story applies to how he's going to act as a down from spies present and how he will do his best to serve the president and serve the american people to help people who are struggling with his economy and really have lost faith in america's political establishment and find a way for to reconnect with our politics. i think that, you know, what j advance has shown is that you can overcome a lot of challenges and, and, you know, rise to a level that, you know, the american dream, that's all part of the american dream. so yeah, that's, it has got to apply the lessons from his home stories, his life story apply it to,
2:24 am
you know, the american people story and, you know, talk a little bit about what america 1st is all about. you know, i think that's the only thing that voters aren't really sure about. they, they, they kind of like the american 1st language, but they're not sure what it means. but i think that judy vance can give some intellectual have to the arguments that don't trans make property. yeah. yeah. but the on the front is the j. d. events is a very inexperienced senate, so he's only held public office for about 18 months or so. is he really ready to be a vice president? and what does he bring to the ticket to think of how well well, that's a very good question. you know, he's very young uh, not that experience in politics, but if you look at uh, brock obama's experience that was pretty limited as well. you know, there's been a kind of a trend over the last several, maybe job. i'm kind of broke that trend. but you know, donald trump was not very experienced in politics. brock obama was not that experience and politics. i think judy vance has been a senator,
2:25 am
but it's really his life story and what he's overcome. and his ability to overcome that with a, you know, a broken home and, and, and using his brains to really kind of show the way for the investor as inspirational, the american people do. the question is, can you use his experience in his life to be an effective vice president? and we're gonna find out, i mean, you know what, we're gonna find out tonight. how effective he is communicating his message to the american people. yeah. now don't you have you written that the us economy will be the main issue in the upcoming november election? i assume you think that the g o p is winning that argument? how all of a waiting that argument and why is it so important to ordinary americans? as well, i think if you look over the last couple several years, the cost of living is really out of control. cost of energy is out of control grocery prices. um, you know, if, if you're doing,
2:26 am
if you're at the upper end of the economic scale you're doing pretty well because the stock market is actually doing quite well. but for middle class and working class, the prices of really, really sky erotic rocketed over the last 3 years and even it was inflation kind of coming down to 3 percent. that's not that's 3 percent over 20 percent. and so yeah, that struggle for folks whose wages have not increased and so that is the port right now. i think that's a good argument for republicans tonight. they're making the argument of integration and crime and making americans stronger again. i think that's another potent argument, i think for the democrats, you know, they're number one argument really i think is on the abortion issue. and i think the republicans have to worry of that issue because it's very, very powerful much the female voters in america don't let me get a final thoughts on you. republicans get talking about reaching out to black and hispanic voters, but when the camera comes across the conventional room, van milwaukee, where you are pretty much, oh, we see a white people. how do you account for that difference?
2:27 am
don't of the well, i mean the america is what 70 percent white. and so republicans have been, you know, that is just kind of the way it has been over the years. and the delegations, and most of america was, that's represented by republicans, is overwhelmingly why. so it wouldn't be that surprising that delegates are reflect that. i would say though, that we've had a pretty good track record over the last 7 years of attracting african american of political leaders. you think of, uh, tim, scott and byron, donald and wesley, hans and others. there are a lot more black republicans in congress now. and i think that, you know, if you look at the poles of black males especially, or uh, like donald trump and like his message. and i think that, you know, there's always a constant effort to expand the party to expand the message. i do think that the
2:28 am
republicans as a working class party makes it a lot easier for them to make the make the argument to black and hispanic americans . and i do also think that the high inflation and high cost of living is a good turner argument for republicans. we're going to make things easier for you. i think it is effective with the black and hispanic americans, john ferry, we're looking to get your thoughts here. thank you very much indeed for talking to us. don't think all right, talk to personal break here, and i'll just be around when we come back. we'll bring you more on us president joe biden testing positive cobit while. i'm a campaign child in nevada and putting your trust in people smugglers. we hear from west african migrants who made the dangerous journeys to escape poverty on that state. the
2:29 am
to we're off and running with your weather report for the america is as always, great to have your long windsor shifting around to a warm or breeze northerly breeze. so patagonia, temperatures are going up, but i can just show you this. almost all of brazil is dry. that's unusual. at least toward the north where it should be raining around in dallas, but again, partially dry here to central america. we go right now. okay, we've got our usual splash of rain across the caribbean. sure. get into some sunny spells there as well. but for canada, okay, kind of is largest city. biggest city toronto. look at that roads clogged with water. all because it was a 5th where they stay on record scooping up, usually a 100 millimeters within a short period of time. so here's where those storms are on thursday, the mid atlantic and the us northeast, spreading cooler air of pressure fuel, new york, 27, just 22 in toronto. these storms also pressing down to the us gulf coast and got to tell you some of these could be severe for the southern states. heat alerts have
2:30 am
been drops in the us southwest so late. that's great where you should be bang on for this time of year at $29.00 degrees, but still keeping those heat alerts for the pacific northwest temperatures and the low twenty's and looking like we've got a son cloud combo in edmonton, 34 degrees on thursday, catcher later the latest news, the lounge, roads, the could supply, the people of calls that were available for the us didn't use it's leverage to for israel to open them with detailed coverage. make sure if the school sub asked from distraction from the own government, calling us in plumbing displacements of lights and goes up from the hall. so the story is really military claims. the target of the attack was the theater. i'm a military commander but how much is the claim falls the.
