high ups. the front and i have a couple of questions with only days left to decide who will americans vote for trump, harris or 3rd parties, and who has the momentum to win the white house. let's get to the bottom line. the campaigning reach, fever pitch levels this week, and now it's time for the final countdown. by next week, american will wake up to a new president, at least that's the plan. with all nationwide poll, still putting republican candidate, donald trump, and democratic candidate, comma harris in a dead heat. there really is no way to predict who is going to be 1st past the post . well, the american people help trump achieve his dream of a 2nd chance, or will we help parents make history? is the country's 1st woman president. if that happens with trump accept defeat, which way will the swing states wing? how much impact will israel's war on gaza?
3:06 pm
have on the elections in the united states. let's get the pulse of the nation with only days to go before the big election. in the 2nd half of the show, we're going to be talking with summit for political reporter could be a go. but the 1st we're talking with linda sar store, one of the country's most prominent air of american activist and co founder of the social justice organization. until freedom made it's real pleasure to have you on the show today. let me just start out saying many arab americans are saying a vote for comma harris is also a vote for genocide. do you agree with them? so i'm one of the combo harris campaign has made a calculation. they do do not need palestinian air rocking and muscle american voters. that's when there is a genocide that's happening. this is a parade, ongoing mass motor of palestinians. this is not something we're talking about in the past. this is not just a general conversation on foreign policy. there is a genocide and calmly. harris has continued to paris, basic talking points around self determination of the palestinian people. she has
3:07 pm
said that she wants to cease fire. she wants release of hostages, but there hasn't been an action behind that. and we've seen the marginalization of palestinian americans in the campaign. we watched dr. estimate of that name, a prominent michigan leader who was removed from an event with campbell harris after he was cleared by security and received an invitation. we were as promised to treat americans, we were denied speaking slot on the dnc stage. as you know, even though we also had the opportunity to listen to the parents of a hostage in, in, in the gaza, we believe that we have the right also to speak our piece of to be able to send to the voices of our people. so all along in this campaign, palestinian american voices have been marginalized and ostracized. and so that's why i'm calling to la harrison. her campaign. it's their job to earn boats. it's not our job to give her votes. although she is not presenting any policy change or any break with the bided administration, she's been asked,
3:08 pm
what would you have done differently? what will you do moving forward? and she continues to say nothing of that. i'm not going to uh, a break from the party that i appreciate job i it, it, i, i can't think of a thing that i would have done definitely than jewel live is that continues to frustrate and outreach air of american muscle, american and palestinian american voters well, donald trump has been out there and we know he's reported to is really prime minister netanyahu to have said do what you need to do. but yeah, there are a lot of arab americans that are saying are going to support donald trump, or they'll support 3rd party candidates like corneo west or jill stein. there's american american st. that's essentially a defacto vote for donald trump. do you have concerns about the way some in your community are looking at donald trump as a better option? then calmly, harrison this moment a donald trump is not a better option for air of americans and palestinian americans. i know this because i worked on the front lines against donald trump for 4 years. donald trump gave is really sovereignty over the golan heights. he moved the american embassy from tel
3:09 pm
aviv into jerusalem, and he basically declared jewels long as the capital is 0. he's support settlement . he has people around here like jared questionnaire, who things guys. it is a great waterfront property. donald trump is not good for the palestinian people. he is not good for muslim americans, and we know that if any community knows that it's ours, the sentiment is, and i'm not saying i agree with this at all. but emotional people and people who are being reactionary right now are basically saying we have to punish the democratic party. that voting for donald trump is a way to punish democrats. i am imploring my community that donald trump is not the right choice, not to vote for donald trump, for those who live in states like california in new york and illinois and texas, look vote your conscience bo, outside and vote for 3rd party candidates. we have to break this 2 party system, but we have to rely that donald trump is not a walk in the park. and we know that as most of the americans now people will argue that there is nothing worse than genocide. and i also have to agree with that. so
3:10 pm
again, we are really in a, between a rock and a hard place. but again, as a muslim american organizer was one of the co founders of the women's march. and i organized for 4 years under donald trump. i know donald trump is not going to be good for palestinians, nor the american people. so again, it's a very difficult situation, but i'm employing people in my community that they participate in this democracy. they focus on down ballot races which impact our daily lives. so. busy this is the hardest election i've ever had to work it in my entire 23 years of organizing and politic linda, i genuinely don't know the answer this question, but were you permitted to speak at the women's march that you helped organize? oh yeah, i was definitely speaking at the women's march. i was one of the 4 full founders or the whole chairs of the one is march on washington. i took the stage as a was thinking american as a muscle american woman into a job. and immediately after that, i was attacked by right wing zionist i was attacked by white supremacist across the country, a death threats against myself and my family. and so i know what it needs to
3:11 pm
organize under an administration like trumps that literally a supports this kind of behavior. and people who believe that they can be brazen and discriminatory and even violent towards people who look like me or have the views that have been look, i've also been discriminated against by the democratic party. my views have been condemned for my support of boycott divestment sanctions. for support of the palestine of my support around police accountability in this country. so listen, i'm equal opportunity and that's why our community feel. so after his eyes we feel so marginalized because we don't know what our political home is anymore. and so again, we are in the selection where we hope that we can defeat donald trump. and if cala harris is to go to the white house, we're going to see her as our opponent. we're going to fight her every single day. we're going to push her to end this genocide and to start the pathway towards a free and liberated palace by so she's gonna be, she needs to be prepared for mass movements in this country. cornell west has been on my show
3:12 pm
a couple of times. we've had fascinating conversations and he's not shy about calling joe biden. president joe biden, a work criminal is someone like cornell west and the way and he's about what he's communicating about. the genocide in gauze of the actions of by israel in the region is, is, is his voice enough? a doctor cornel west has an old friend of mine, and i appreciate his intervention in the selections for speaking truth to power and yes, drawer a joe biden is a work criminal anthony blinking is a work criminal and we will continue to say that and hopefully one day they will be brought to justice and you know, listen it for now west i'm is not alone. students across college campuses across this country, movements from climate just as to gender, justice to racial justice movements has gotten up and stood up for the palestinian people. they have been demanding and immediate cease fire and, and arms and bar go against israel. historic organizations like the end w. c, p. the national council of, you know, the church as a we see the solidarity,
3:13 pm
the people are with the palestinian people. the majority of the people are, it's just those in power that have not yet heated to the calls of the american people. so again, this learn this journey towards a few. palestine is a long one, but we're on the right path. and we're hoping at some point one day, very soon that we will get to go to a pulling site in the presidential election and actually vote our values. and both our principles that we are able to let someone who is going to be a person who is committed to peace and diplomacy and not to continued wars. we've been watching some officials of the state department resign issue protests about the state department's unwillingness to restrict the sale of weapons to israel based on humanitarian law, which is law in the united states. we've also see recently a group of attorneys inside the department of justice, right to merit darling, the attorney general and say we're not following our own laws and rules and procedures by investigating the deaths of americans. americans at the hands of his
3:14 pm
really citizens and soldiers in recent years they, they're saying the department of justice is failing to investigate the death of americans. is your organization involved in any of this? can you be a partner in elevating awareness that in some of these cases with regards to his real, we're not following our own domestic laws and procedures. yes, absolutely. um we have made falls to this administrative should to get just especially in a box it for people like i said, nor who is a turkish american. a college student who was in palestine engaging in volunteer work. it is outrages to me every time i think about being an american and how my identity as an american is disregarded because i'm palestinian or because i'm in palestine or because i'm in solidarity with the palestinian people. we are not protected as americans in the it, within the occupied territories or in, in general, in, in, in, in, inside the state of israel. it is outrageous that the united states government
3:15 pm
continues to fund aid and if that benjamin netanyahu, what so ironic here is that you will have someone like comedy harris or the democratic party go after trump and call him a fascist. and he's part of a right wing government and we can't have a right wing government back and we have to be careful and we're warning the american people. but here we are the democratic party supporting a far right government and is real benjamin nothing. yahoo is a fascist engineer benjamin. nothing. yahoo is a right wing leader and there should be no reason why we are sending him blank checks to continue to slaughter the palestinian people. we have to continue to hold our government accountable, and that's my job as an american. so people always tell me, what's your role? like, what do we do? i save up. these are people in elected office, you elected them and you can on the left that we have to start organizing political power. and when we watch our colleagues and people inside of the administration for resign and we watched these letters coming out once again, and people get upset when we say that these really lobby has a strong hold on,
3:16 pm
are government. people get upset with us. they call us all kinds of names for making that, but what is, what other reason is there, then your own people on the inside people you've appointed to work for you or against you on this policy, the over 70 percent of americans support and immediate ceasefire. the polls which demonstrate that most americans support some sort of restrictions on military aid to israel, especially during this ongoing genocide. so who are you adhering to? what do you listen to? and that is the frustration and outrage of the majority of voters right now who care about this issue. many polls have shown that palestinians urban, most on voters are saying gaza is our top priority issue. and it is my job to go into the communities and say, look down, ballot races, don't feel osh desires don't give up your right to vote in this country because your outrage in this moment use your role. and so we're, we don't know what's going to happen in the selection i'm, it could be very likely that com la harris goes to the white house because people
3:17 pm
are that are afraid of a trump administration. if to campbell harris loses this election, i promise you it will be because voters turn their backs on the poles on top of the hairs at the same way that she and the democratic party have on the gaza genocide, who will have to leave it there. thank you so much, linda source or air of american civil rights activists. really appreciate your thoughts today. thank you. thank you. we now turn that could be a goal, but political reporter for some of, for who's been covering united states presidential campaign from the beginning to the what a pleasure to have you on today. and let me just start out, come on, harris is out there. closing her message to americans, so it was donald trump, but one of the she said, caught my eye. listen to what she said on day one of the elected donald trump would walk into that office with an enemies list. when are you likely to? i will walk in with it to do list of what i will get done for the american people. let me ask you which of these
3:18 pm
messages, if she's right, is resonating with americans? i think her cap wanted her to be more spicy, make the distinction between her and donald trump. but then also there are the progressive groups who wanted her to say, you know what, you need to talk about what you're going to do for the people. so i think that in capital very much, those 2 i the allergies and those 2 demands coming from both sides of the party. you've been all over the united states. you've been going to battle ground states. what do you think americans care about in the selection of the economy and the economy means very different things were very different people, jobs rate is always going up, right? but people are like, well, why can i buy a home for um, you know, at this age or black people in particular talking about institutional, what are institutional? well, right, that is very different from, you know, maybe some body suffering with grocery bills or doctors bills. so all of that
3:19 pm
encompassing leads to the economy, but it can't take away from immigration. it has been a residing issue throughout the country and my home town, new york, where you're talking to immigration like anti immigration, not pro immigrate. well, just the immigration issue that the borders are open to wide open there too many people coming across the border and it is to their eyes taking resources away from them. and we really saw this a lot in new york after the 2022 election when they of migrant crisis started to arrive at you know, come up in new york, which wasn't an issue in the past. it's a, a safe stay where you can go if you are seeking asylum. that became an issue and it, it put congressional races that will determine the house who the majority, the house majority and put those congressional races in danger for democrats. because that became an issue, let me throw
3:20 pm
a piece of data at you 28 percent of americans believe america is on the right track. no political party in american history has one has, has been returned to office after having numbers of support that low is, does that matter? i mean, that includes democrats, republicans, independents, 28 percent. think the countries on the right track, which means a significant number. think wrong, what, what do you think about that? yeah, of course. this is the damming issue. and one of the big political hurdles that com, la harris had to jump over time and time again. how does she distinguish yourself from joe by and after survey and being his number 2 for the past 4 years? of course, this is, yeah, this is an issue for democrats and in particular in the house and the senate, and especially for comma hired a lot of, uh, anchors out there in the news. anchors are saying, it's not fair to compare calmly. harris, who really been on the campaign trail very short period of time because joe biden stayed in for so long to a donald trump. and so they were saying, oh,
3:21 pm
if you don't have all the pillars and plans have an opportunity economy, which he's pushing, worked out in your mind, that shouldn't count as much as donald trump talking about deploying the u. s. military against enemies within the nation, which is pretty strident and shocking comment from anyone running for president, but particularly from someone who was president. sure. okay, each candidate has their base, right? we got to think about that 4 to 5 percent of american voters who needs to be convinced. and i mean, i think the democrats understood this is probably some of those disaffected republicans who usually aligned themselves with the party, but just feel uncomfortable. voting for donald trump. again, whether it's for january 6 or whether they just disagree with him at large, that is who they're talking to. and they need to convince those people. and yes, i mean, i think people need to be on point in their messaging to those specific people. but
3:22 pm
we've got the gaza crisis, you've got the increasing conflict with lebanon. do you think any of that's playing out there with americans and me, and particularly in michigan? absolutely. and michigan, i mean, we saw this at the start of harris's campaign, right? people in the audience yelling pro, palestine messages and her kind of batting them down. i predicted this was never going to stop. we saw it escalating in michigan 1st. again, all the way back to by mentoring the primary and the contest or as i, i'm contested or uncommitted, uncommitted the global, uncommitted, that that is who these people are. they are upset about the wars and they are disgruntled with the democratic party because they think they have a hand in whatever is going on because we're, we're supporting, etc, weapon, arms and etc. so yeah, we see this and, and i think republicans, you know, steve,
3:23 pm
on the opportunity by that integration hitting themselves to v made or the muslim may or is out there who will, i think have an effect on congressional races surrounding. now i'm not saying they're going to pull a lot of democrats, a lot of most of the democrats from those congressional races. but i'm sure there's going to be a dip in the numbers specifically in michigan, but it's kind of impact. but along those lines and look, i'm always cautious. i mean, you've helped me for a long time, very cautious of people when they talked about 3rd parties. i mean, our system is so, so driven towards that you party, strangle, hold on the system. if you do have cornel west out there and you've got, you'll sign out there and they, they could become pivot points in the selection. they're not going to win, but they could become pivot points. do you agree? i mean, if you, if you're talking about whether most of the americas americans will vote for sign because she has been extremely pro how to find an articulated that. sure that could be some one affecting the res i if this is specifically in michigan, i,
3:24 pm
i'm not sure if that's going to give her a boost. but as you point out, it could ship a way of some of the votes that harris would have had a lot of concern out there. but president trump, is it he's going to, if this are rate expertise in the government that we're going to have political, people loyal to him, put in place as it would normally have been with experts and, and for a policy want like myself, that's highly disconcerting. if that turns out to be true, have we just moved into a place where so many americans don't even think about that. that also has been clear about this, right? and anyone who's not taking that seriously, you know, is probably not as close as you and i to it. but yeah, there is an issue would possibly be with americans understanding how policy works or appreciating that that is a really disconcerting as you point out point of view for anyone speaking office
3:25 pm
and for anyone speaking office to articulate that. yeah, that's the problem, maddox. but also if you're, if you pull americans how many people know they're members of congress, they probably wouldn't know that either. so while they are super engaged in these elections and that's appreciated on the policy side, we probably all need some civic. i want to apologize for viewers who have to, you know, get a lesson and how american politics works. the electoral college. yeah. the fact that we have swing states. so if you lived in california, i guess what your vote is already predicted, and that doesn't really matter. oklahoma the same thing. but there are about 7 states that matter in this election by most analysts measure. and they are pennsylvania, michigan, wisconsin, north carolina, georgia, nevada, in arizona. memorized ball set. yes. now i think it's really interesting that we're looking at those states and sort of look at as you're looking at things right now just in the eve of the election. how do you feel that breeze is going to such
3:26 pm
a tough question? um i, i, all i can say is the races are very the both, both states are very, very tight, with harris slightly leaving a little more earlier in her 180 candidacy. and then trump somehow chipping away at that, but they're within a point difference. it is going to be a tight race and i'm not sure will know the election results on election night. well, isn't donald trump making sure we won't priority saying that pennsylvania is cheating and kind of laying down the groundwork for talent are definitely in addition to sewing down on the election and yeah, i would imagine, i think georgia is only hand boat by hand count at this point, it's going to be a very interesting, very much a repeat of 2020 probably. how is abortion playing in this election right now, and particularly in the battleground states? yeah, so i think humbler harris, you know,
3:27 pm
took that opportunity to seize on that. this is a post is the 1st election pulse of the overturning of roe v wade. and yeah, she's appealing to women. women historically vote, you know, at greater numbers. so she's the, her team is probably smart to focus on that. it is the difference between her and donald trump. she's focusing on women putting a fortune or reproductive rights 1st, while trump has taken this pastor of zoning and on men specifically, oh man. and i'm trying to bring that base out. and i think that's what madison square garden was about. the other night is very much, much use low look where whole whole going with our fisher. and again, i think if he understands that, i think he understands he needs to bring out his base, which i have to say the republicans have received some criticism in the past because they weren't really doing that. and especially in those swing states, i would tell him, but he, we are, we are getting a real treat here cuz could be
3:28 pm
a go, but has been tested, former colleague of mine, us politics reporter for some before thank you so much for joining us today. thanks for having me, steve. so what's the bottom line? people around the world, not just americans are watching these us elections because the winners policies are going to reverberate in all 4 corners of the globe. for instance, is russian leader vladimir put and going to get a seat dinner at the trump white house, or what a harris white house muscle up nato in eastern europe, on the ukraine war. these 2 have wildly different visions. what is sadly clear, is it neither trump nor harris are promising much. that's different in terms of american engagement with the stability that is both chest and fair. in the middle east, we're watching a war continue and broaden. and my god just tells me that trump and harris are going to continue to give a knowing wink and not to the violence and the killings there and not investing american resources in truly changing these realities. i hope i'm wrong, but i'm afraid i'm not. we'll no sooner not. and that's the bottom line.
3:29 pm
the unique perspective we don't want to head to but we no longer have any private spaces on the incident. that's a scary well on heard voices a year into this genocide, it still remains large. one section connect with our community and tap into conversations you will find elsewhere, but humanity, the number of people who want to stop sending weapons has gone up and up despite what they hear in the mainstream media in the united states. the stream on out to 0 is real, is duty as an in judaism is israel. many american cheese are raised with a one sided view of israel. this is our land. that's what was conveyed to us found in the depths of my family's house. but the tide is shifting as younger jewish americans learn the reality about these rails treatments of the palestinians. i was
3:30 pm
never in the palestinian house to live barge into one in the middle of the night. it's a military occupation is right, is episode to on alex's era, the, to hello, i'm elizabeth put on them and don't have the top stories on al jazeera. that is the aftermath of one of the latest is really as strikes on on the site at refugee camp and gaza. earlier in the day, at least 26 people were killed in sustain strikes on the area. reports also coming in of a novice drive called a school showing displace palestinians kind of getting these 1st.
