food security phase classification of the only pc reveals that 96 percent of goals this population is suffering from severe acute food in security. and that's expected to continue. $745000.00 people, a 3rd of the population are experiencing emergency levels of food and security and unable to get the minimum amount of food that they need. 22 percent of the population to almost half a 1000000 people are facing catastrophic food shortages. starvation and what it cools extremely critical. acute malnutrition, the report cools, the immediate action to control food. aid is supplied and treatment provided. the amount nutrition speak to louise wolf, which is a senior emergency officer for rewind, uh the you and agency, full palestine. refugees enjoyed stuff misread. come in gaza, miss woodridge. good to have you with us on the program. a lot to discuss will take
6:09 pm
it step by step, what number of trucks. so actually you receiving right now and what should you have been receiving in today's proceeding? this interview? ok. so here's the last few days. it's been around since a few trucks a day. that's 30. i don't think i need to tell the view is how little that is for a population of 2200000 people. who as you say in your introduction are all hungry all solving. there is no food available here. it's very, very difficult for families on the ground to have anything, any kind of substance. and the situation has become. so di ahead that once again, we're seeing the situation where people are fighting as a bags of flour. that's fighting those uh any, any remaining tens of food and, and anything in the area because it's that low in stock. everything is a priority, as it comes through the gates into goals or do you as an organization get to choose
6:10 pm
what supplies come in? or do you just open these trucks and pops was surprised by what you managed to receive. and when you are nice receiving around 30 trucks a day, it will never be enough, even if you prioritize the needs, whether it's food, whether it show to the winter rise ation. so the 2 chunks is not going to be enough for any body. it's not going to fill the needs. so we basically are in a situation where we take what we can proceed and we distribute it as soon as possible to the population. but i mean, your colleagues are already saying and that reports, it's been an extremely violent day. it's really intensified miniature operations in the middle area where i am today. so there's also the safety involved in the agers funds. how on us can humanitarians move age from the board is to the people in need when there is showing when there is as strikes when there is drones, when there is maybe 5, that is what we've had for the last 24 hours. and it's making the humanitarian
6:11 pm
responsive. absolutely impossible, but i think you've answered my next question, which is that distribution? so let's move on to how many people you will physically allowed to help right now. i mean, most of the numbers are you looking at with a very limited amount of age that's coming in. and we're trying to hope everyone's that we possibly can. i mean, this is through our own. we're running boards. well, as our staff are on the ground, they repair these most well as they try and provide as much pressure on which it to the community through these wells you in that's, we're hiring them, it's getting them working. a lot of the generates is even run out fuel or they get shots out or they get damaged in the minute generations in terms of food with distribution, flower with providing families with sla and food packages as much as possible. but it's really an emphasis to stay as much as possible. we've been able to provide some flour and some food assistance to families in northern garza. this is god, the city not in the areas that are currently besieged, that stood by the account on other areas of north because a governor putting does the city and beach county. we have reached some families.
6:12 pm
but it's, it's completely down to where we have access. if we don't have the access provided, we cannot provide the food to the people who need it. so the thing that somebody does come out and all of our reports is that they are live in feasible correspondence. let me switch as, as when to sort of tools and what concerns do you have now about the need some more raid and training, knowing that a new one is an entity that the israelis don't want to work with. and it's pretty difficult question. you know, it's a politician, you want the official spokesperson underwater, but you are the pointy end of this, this complex. yeah, i mean, what i can tell you now is it's as bad if not worse than it's ever been. 500000 people today are in danger. of flooding in winter if it rains tomorrow, if the rains come the show to is that they then will be flooded. they will have no way to see they will have no way to exist. the rest of the gods district that 84 percent is currently under evacuation or this and then the bombing then as the
6:13 pm
strikes. so in terms of safety, we have been saying this so long there is no, i say that's just us and there's no i say, but. ready what can you do when everybody needs everything and you're not getting enough supplies in winter is coming it's, it's around the corner. people do not have enough. you see the make shift shots as a living under it's under blankets, may be cousins, really damaged pieces of fabrics. it might of may be protected people from the song in summer. but now in winter, when the rains come, people are going to be out in the cold and the rain. i think you can hear it from bob minutes around me. right now people have things so that lives once again, people to fling. so that lines that is that main cuz um and then as food and then there's water and then the show to people just need absolutely everything. finally, ways, if i could, i'll shoot you pups to take your little hats off for a moment to speak to me as a civilian. you just talked about the buttons and the noise around you. right now. you must be a striking, does anybody else that's in the gaza strip right now?
6:14 pm
just as a civilian human being. just tell me how that's what it what it feels like. a guy he's absolutely terrifying. today has been one of the west days. i've experience in the gaza strip. i've been here since april. i've. i've been here. it's through the referent cousins. we've heard horrific stories in the north. we can't get to the north. it's the seas. but right now with this foaming around does with this constant bombardment. it's terrifying people, families, you know, you can have children crying, people screaming people who are running for their lives and it's been nonstop for 24 hours. there's no way to go. people are track. i think you is forget, they cannot lead that guy was a straight. there's absolutely no way for people to go. they off seeing from one place to another and getting bombed, everywhere they go. it is terrifying. louise, what ridge from underwater joining us that from a district comes in because of strep. it's good to get your 1st hand. uh
6:15 pm
1st time do you have what's going on? thanks so much louise. thank you. it's these are they all me as kind of like most royce, in east and 11, all of these 12 people are being killed in the town halls. plains of smoke have been rising over the area and in the nearby city of baltic is response of talked into the holiday of hood. it's home to redmond ruins of the parts of the unesco will pirated sites as well size is talking sites linked to hezbollah. and the substance of it they reach has been stopped by his body forces for the 1st time in a week. at least 10 strikes hidden here in the area as of friday. these are the ministry has focused on attacking the sub. does it escalate to the tex in september? that's conservative. also depaula correspondent in the lebanese capital high dose. i mean, the focus continues to be around about that, but we're hearing it strikes now entire as well once a you hearing yes, so how
6:16 pm
a short while ago there was a strike right in the hearts of the southern coastal city of tire. we saw an air strike being carried out on a residential building in the middle of the city with no prior warning from the is riley military. as usually in the past few days. the is really military has issue of force evacuation threats for the areas that are going to be striking within the different areas of 11 on and tire, of course has been no, it's what has not been swear. it has come under continuous attacks over the past week. or so, and the latest attack coming on today on friday without any prior warnings on tyre . he's one of the most h and cities in 11 on it was one's home to about 65000 people. but 90 percent of the residents have already fled. and this latest strike is an indication that the

israeli military is not letting not be claim, as targeting as the luck of the control centers for the southern front, which they claim is responsible for launching cross border attacks and the northern israel. but tire is not the only area in the on that came under attack today in the eastern part of the country. in that car valley, at least 16 airstrikes were carried out on different towns and villages in and around the city of balls back another ations city in this country and the strikes also came without any warning. according to local media, at least 40 people have been killed so far in those attacks in eastern part of the country. of course, all of this comes as lebanese officials are saying that the intensification of b is rarely or a structure across the country are indications that that israel is not serious about any kind of a cease fire. and any discussions that we have been on the table over the past few
6:18 pm
days are now long gone. and as a result, we're seeing pick continuation of from board vents across the country. so such a boy that force in the lebanese capital, thank you for the update of the world health organization size is deeply concerned about what goals a shopping number of attacks on levels, health care services. it says more than a 100 health watkins. they've been killed and 55 verified to tax on medical staff incentives since late september. but the w i chose as those numbers are likely to be significantly higher, as many workers were killed off g t thought margaret harris is a spokeswoman for the world health organization. she says the number of violent incidents as rising on hospitals are overwhelmed by casualties of the people. he's gone to hell, but the people they go should work every day to save law say do not go to work to do so lots. but they have been caught up in

a conflict with that. it seems to be no concern about attacking health facilities and it's very, very clear. it's very clear on international to mandatory little health check is not to target. and yet, as you said, we've seen 100 going through dense. so people actively onto g as the ministry of health in the owners for boarding much higher numbers of losses because many of the house for, because have been killed or injured at the injured while at high level of g o going to and from work. this was a health care system that couldn't afford to lose one health care work that they didn't have enough health care workers. before this conflict began, the economic circumstances meant that thing was very much under served and it was a health care system that was struggling. so the law, so basic health care worker is even is magnified. and now they've got mass

the candidates have chris across the country focusing on the battleground states, including pennsylvania. that's where we find like hannah, who is in pittsburgh like with the polls, or is this incredibly close? what exactly are each of the 2 campaigns doing to try and get that the their voters to the polls? well, there's a freezing wind blowing here in pittsburgh, but it's sunset and which way it's going for the candidates. they are nick and nick in pennsylvania. now the states, along with wisconsin and michigan phones part of the approval, the absolutely critical area through which come on i hire is mist walk in order to reach the white house. now interestingly enough, 2016 donald trump took both the popular vote and the the vote for congress. and that was reversed again in 2020. when biden took both sets of boats. now the important stuff to stick to look at is the size of the turn out in 2016.
6:34 pm
they would just over 6000000 people who voted in pennsylvania. in 2020, that's the finger rose to just under 7000000. so these bits of sticks what appeared to indicate that there's a direct co relation between the size of the turnout and the chances of a democratic party victory. i didn't fuss anybody. you're all here. this place is that something higher as campaigns of visit to pennsylvania some 100 times in the selection season. let's be intentional, a reflection of how important the states and this 19 electro votes is in the presidential race. but only a few days to go. polls indicate the vote is to close the cold and the candidates a full for every pallets they can possibly get away from the high profile release. there's another special for votes falling tiers from the organization. one who'd out on the street stay up to day,

and they still you, while i transfer you down, which would stop by this chance, the adam says he's been struggling ever since to support his children. he now works 2 jobs and still makes a 3rd less than he did at master lock. we found no job. this pay and that's that money, you know, my skill was wasted. so starting all the way over a 40 for you though to bring. 8 in manufacturing, he remembers president brock obama visiting the plant in 2012. the master loc announced plans to bring some jobs back to the us, but then did it. there's nothing that there's these democrat republican or whatever reaches down to us. adam says he feels betrayed. so he's not going to vote that's despite the efforts of donald trump and comma la harris to win the votes of manufacturing workers. adam says he just doesn't believe the promises anymore. plus, he doesn't have the time to go to the polls. he says he's linked to his 2nd job.
6:39 pm
heidi jo. castro, alj a 0 milwaukee wisconscin. a comic hardship is a focal point for voters in this election. and many are concerned. poverty hasn't been adequately addressed during the selection cycle. more than 36000000 people live below the poverty line in the us, just over 11 percent of the population that's despite the country are having the highest gdp in the world. 11000000 children are among those living in poverty and nearly 18 percent of black americans now live below the poverty life that's more than last year. let's discuss this issue of inequality and economic hardship with our panel of guess with me is john. uh, i'm not saying or a cabin a top van off. there we go. go to ida lane. you guys need to have is your name. and lou lane, uh, siggler louis bigelow. oh okay. we're after a great start. okay, 1st i want to talk about the child tax credit because this went up during cobit and
6:40 pm
what happened, what did it do, lane and what, what, what was the results? so it was expanded to cover more families and to give put cash and to people's hands. that was a big, you know, that's actually a central piece of what i think democrats and republicans are arguing about the child tax credit right now. it's refundable lity, so a lot of people who are experiencing poverty don't pay any taxes. and so if you give them a tax credit, it really doesn't help them unless you give them the, unless you make it refundable and you know, getting cash into their hands. give them the opportunity to pay for diapers if that's what they need to fix their car if that's what they're looking to do or to get caught up in rent. if that's if that's what is facing them right now. i want to get into the issue. busy of poverty because i think it's also the way the government calculates. poverty is not a does not get a snapshot. 65 percent of people say they're living paycheck to paycheck. that does
6:41 pm
not match these numbers. i mean, the poverty rate united is just for audience understand for a family of 3, the government only believes you're in poverty if you make about $24000.00. so how big is this? is your job? yeah, well, so i think people in other countries think we have poverty, but they've seen photos of homeless people and they think it's a problem. but a small problem, as you just pointed out, the majority of americans are hurting. they're finding it hard to get by on their paychecks. we do work with the poor people's campaign and we did a careful look into how many people are poor and well. well, meaning that if they got a $300.00 medical expense, they would be under water, they wouldn't be able to pay for food or rent. and we found that 4 out of $102.00 fifths of americans are in that situation. they're poor and a low. well, most of them have no assets either. they don't have a house, they don't have a car. and so for them,
6:42 pm
what things cost via their food for their rent or their gas is the difference between their children being able to eat a good balance meal and not. i know this is a really tough question to ask, but that's why i'm here to both of you. we are the richest country in the world. we have a nor mister amounts of well, why are so many people pour for steve? and it's a policy choice. we are governing making policy decisions to give tax credits, you know, to the rich or the corporations, instead of actually helping people who are experiencing poverty. and i think we're seeing it where we heard it in the segment earlier where you hear voters are disenchanted with politics and government. and that is because of rising and income inequality. and that's why they're also open to things like all of the charity is of them and why democracy is you know, feeling like it's a little bit more brittle now because those things go hand in hand where income inequality and,
6:43 pm
and democracy declining just picking up on that it's partly what i would and use a harsher term. it's policy violence, the keeps 4 out of 10 people living on the edge. but in addition to it, as what lane said, this country, the richest, as you pointed out in the planet, is also the most on april. so at the top, we have billionaires, we have huge corporations that have a lot of concentrated power. they to now they come out of the policy violence, trump push policies that may billionaires richer, but as a result right now, why are prices rising? it's because a small number of companies own there's 3 me, packer companies that companies that own all of the pack. 82 percent, 82 percent. yes. beautiful. you're in a huge sector. you have that kind of extreme concentration. they are setting the prices, they are pay, they're making sewage profits. they're paying their ceo as tens of millions of dollars. and they are the core. i mean,
6:44 pm
the people on the policy world call this price gouging me. and one of the parties wants to get rid of it in another doesn't the, the thing that is the biggest price. that's right now that people are talking about is housing and on housing. if the top you have billionaires from both the u. s. and overseas that have come in, bought up luxury housing, squeezing out low income housing. you have a big bill in big billionaire, like steve fort spent, who's the ceo of blackstone. he owns hundreds of thousands of housing units. he made a 120000000 dollars last year, and he is making profits off of pushing up rents to levels that are simply on sustainable. so let's talk about the candidates real quick and we've done a lot of time literally. what would donald trump do for the poorest americans with . 1 i n s policies, i don't see it making a huge difference and particularly because he's very focused on things like terrorists which don't individually help people actually hurt. yes and continuing
6:45 pm
his tax cuts, which again are focused on corporations and the wealthy. when you see commer harris, a sheet to platform her, her platform really fundamentally you can restructure our economy. it's focused on care, which we've never done that before. like other countries supporting people with a child, child care, paid family and medical leave. this will actually help people on an individual level, and you'll see them. i think you'll see our economy make huge changes because that's a really affects women who are, you know, half of our population. and right now they're struggling. but you on this harris go far enough for poverty, she talks a lot about the middle class petition talking about poverty. and neither candidate has talked about the problem we're talking about here and they are allergic to the word for her low. well, middle class is the, is the key word. her policies go in the right direction. she would build a lot more homes. she would go after price guy rogers. but the deep structural issues we've got to deal with the any quality that we were just talking about. if
6:46 pm
we really want to help poor and low wage people, we need to tax billionaires. we need to rein in the corporations that are that are gouging people. i think popular movements in this country are so upset that they were, as they pushed joe biden to do much more than what his natural inclination. i believe they would do the same with the harrison middle schools. i was also talking about the racial dimension of this because for black families make $0.23 for every $1.00 . well. so then a white family has for hispanics. it's $0.19. yeah. so how can the candidates get in? how can they addressed that specific portion? i mean, because they, although there is this misconception in the country that the majority of 4 people are minorities, they're not the majority for people in america are white, but how can they address the wish, the racial gap. so i think her policies do address those things. so when you, when you think about who has the most student loan debt in this country, it is black women. and when you look at who takes on the proportion of care giving
6:47 pm
it is typically black women, latino women as well. those policies, the way that they are touching them aren't necessarily in those terms. but they are crafted and vetted and researching in a way that i think will address the concerns of the people of color and women of color. this was such a smart discussion. i think you both for joining us here on al jazeera. so in the last day of campaigning, the candidates are focusing on the southern key swing states. they can make or break a candidates path to winning the presidency here, serial then j on why georgia matters this time and what matters to the people of georgia. here's a tossup state, were watching very closely georgia southern states, 16 electoral votes, republican stronghold for decades, and 2016 donald trump won by nearly 5 points. there wasn't close in 2020, that changed dramatically. joe biden slipped the state by the slimmest of margins
6:48 pm
just under 12000 votes. the 2020 election was so close in georgia. the votes for president were counted 3 times, including one by hand. all vote counts confirming biden's victory, but that did not stop trump and his allies from trying to reverse the election results there. that included a trump phone call directly to georgia's top election official. and there's nothing wrong with saying that, you know. 2 that you've recalculated? well mister president determines that you have is the data you have as well. i just want to find the 11780 loads, which is one more that we have because we won the state and slipping. the state is a great testament to our country. i only need $11000.00. i need 11000 votes. give me a break. so mr. chris, you have people that submit information and we have our people that submitted
6:49 pm
information and then it comes before the court and the court then has to make a determination. we have to stand by our numbers. we believe our numbers are right . the former president, now space is 8 charges, including racketeering over accusations that he illegally tried to overturn the georgia election results. all right, let's take a moment to look at the data behind biden's 2020 victory. one that com la harris needs to replicate. if she wants to retain georgia in 2024, she can expect to do well in fulton county, most of which is the city of atlanta, a long time democratic stronghold. over the last 2 decades. the counties around atlanta have grown much more diverse and that has brought huge political change. so we will be closely watching called, and gwinnett, 2 big suburban counties, north of atlanta that shifted dramatically towards the democrats in recent elections. they were key to biden's victory together. atlanta plus suburbs equals more than $5200000.00 people. that is almost half the state. power is also needs to keep winning in other big cities like savannah,
6:50 pm
like augusta trump needs to turn out votes in georgia, is vast, deeply conservative, rural areas. if we step away from the electoral mass, what do these maps and names actually tell us? well, they tell a story of america, take the black vote, for example, both harris and trump wanted nearly a 3rd of georgia's population. is black democrats, or accused of taking black voters for granted. while trump has seen his support, right, particularly among black men because of frustration with the economy and rising bills, 44 percent of people living below the poverty line in georgia are black and they don't see their lives changing for better or worse of the white population has seen a record dropping his numbers, but they are still a majority. they are the republican base, but their political power is crumbling. the biggest issues for them or integration in the economy and the hispanic population of the state, is also substantial at more than 10 percent. pull all of these factors together and harris needs a coalition of black, hispanic and women voters,
6:51 pm
while trump needs to retain the support of white voters, he needs to get them to vote and to make inroads into traditional democratic strong . that helps out. we would hope that it's hard for americans, right. all right, al 0 have comprehensive, special coverage on election night. make sure to join us from 22, g m g on november, the 5th, that's 5 pm. east coast time here in the us will have live coverage from across the country with guests and discussion both here in washington, dc. and in doha, that's here on al jazeera from 22 g m t i a election day november the 5th. okay, so that is going to do it for us. the team here in washington, d. c. for now to pass it back to you. so in the house. thanks very much, patsy. and of course, we'll be back with all teams in late to bulletins here on out just they're still on the program. many people say what they're doing guys. this cable.
