to bite and in 2020 so nobody really knows what is going to happen. so she has been appealing to the african american vote also to the hour of american vote. let's not forget to begin the speech right here. talking about the ongoing wars and the release, the war 11 on the war and gaza. also talking about this number and thousands of civilians that have been killed in the war. the need to end the war. the need to create a 2 state solution to give the palestinian people dignity itself the permutation, among other things. so again, to repeating, to the owner of american both in the states. but even though it only represent one percent in the united states, it is, it said an important voting block because it's located in swing states like this one. donald trump went to visit last friday, some members of the arab american community in the city of dearborn. here in michigan, so comment of harry's again today was on stage with members of the out of american community trying in a way to show that she's thinking of solutions to try to achieve
2:31 am
a ceasefire on peace in the middle east. suddenly, there were thousands of people pressing here today, listening to her, they want pamela carries to become the united states next president. and to raise a she said, so i'm going to quote here, she said, quote or campaign is not being about being against something. but about things for something that really is a recurring theme for accommodate higher says, well, this is something that we've been hearing all around the state, especially among the people that will vote for her. those for voting for her say that the ones better jobs that they want better education is that they want better health care. and they believe that camera harris stands for that, that mean she is appealing, as i said before, to different communities that are currently living in this day to the african american community. that's troubled, struggled for decades with poverty, unemployment segregation, among many other things. and they're extremely concerned that donald trump,
2:32 am
i couldn't make it to the presidency again, the arab american community, however, with their own problems, and many of them expressing their support for cabinet harris. but let's not forget that there's also lots of different chat in sense among the arab american community . it also frustration anger because they believe that she is complicit of what is happening in the meeting is that the government of joe biden has failed to stop. or people who are say is the general side of the palestinian people. so suddenly there's lots of support for cabinet hours and so, so lots of support for donald trump. that's why this place is a swing space and nobody really knows what is going to happen next to what it is tuesday. what is certain is that there's lots of interest in the selections that people are heading to the polls. at this point, her note is crucial for kimberly, how is mobilizing voters getting them to vote? it's crucial for her to be able to win this page. and for her to be able to make it to the white house. okay, teresa, thanks very much indeed. but as we mentioned,
2:33 am
trump has been in 3 swing states on sunday. these are a lot fits his from his ride in the city of may come in georgia, he's set to speech shortly, and we'll bring that to you live when he gets it around. you patrice, is a democratic, a political strategist and former deputy campaign manager for benny saunders in 2016. she joins us live now from dallas, texas. so very up be to come with a harris that does she have good reason to be that because the polls have been pretty much neck and neck. yeah, i think that's what we keep seeing over and over again. is it is a dead heat, a statistical tie? i'm not sure. i mean, i think the alternative of her having no energy is probably not going, but i don't know. i wouldn't feel comfortable making a claim right this moment if it is going to pull it off. she started her speech on the same of gauze and 11. and what did you make of that?
2:34 am
you know, i, i think it's a gosh, frankly, the welcome shift. obviously we had seen the shifting rhetoric from the vice president when she 1st took over at the top of the ticket. we even saw some of this ship from her before she took over at the top of the ticket and then it seemed to almost, i don't even know what the right word is dwindle away. so i think it was a welcome. um, you know, a welcomed shift but as we had all so many of us have been saying over and over, the shift to rhetoric is not going to save lives. it's, it's appreciated, it's welcomed. and obviously we need more from, from, from the vice president even more so from president biden. and from the, from whoever does when this, this uh, the selection and domestically, uh, in that speech, she's very much courting the female, but with a stance on reproductive rights. america yes, of course. and you know, there is,
2:35 am
she said something and it's not, it's not such a unique line, but it is a really devastating line. and it's very true that generation, the young women's, these gen, the young women have fewer rights than their mothers. and some of their grandmothers, and that is just the truth and in large part because of donald trump as much as he might want to deny it, that's the reality. and we've seen girls and women lose their lives because of this. her reading just policy. so it makes a lot of sense that she's courting women and we're seeing that, you know, it's an important issue. even moderate and conservative women see that donald trump and the republican party have gone way too far. she's also been sending a message against division. i'm going to repeat this again, but she said the campaign is not being about it being against something but being
2:36 am
or something. it really is a recurring theme in a campaign, isn't it? it is in any retreat site again early on and granted her her her entire campaign is about 3 months, so we'll deliver a little over 3 months old. so it hasn't been that long. but from the beginning, she has been talking in a lot about unity about what brings us together. obviously for, for myself and many other arab americans and, and i'll send you an american. this idealization of, of dick cheney and things like that doesn't feel really helpful for so many of us. it just brings up the last preventive forever more in iraq and afghanistan. and so you, while i, there's part of me that does appreciate this disunity message and, and with so much division in the united states. uh over the last several years it's, it is, there's pardon me that appreciate that. and then there's the other part of me that doesn't, especially with the situation we're in right now with
2:37 am
a continuing unfolding genocide and god the and the ethnic cleansing happening and love and on i think that there's some limitations there. again, pardon me, appreciate that. and then there needs to also just be some, some limits. and what can candidates actually achieve at this late stage to not people still likely to be undecided even now? in honestly, i'm putting my, my own deep pain around the genocide of my own people aside, which is obviously very hard to do. but the reality even from those of us who are directly impacted and connected to the issue of palestinian liberation, it is an issue that matters to a lot of people arrogant, mathematical americans, of course, but also our allied communities as well. so i don't necessarily know that it is and
2:38 am
decided in, in the traditional ways that we usually see in an election cycle. i think it has a lot of internal conflict that people are feeling because it's hard to vote for somebody who was part of an administration that is literally funding and facilitating the genocide of your people and, and, and a, and ever. and then the expansion of, of that invasion is 11. and so while i do think it's important to name the limitations of the vice presidency, i often say, you know, the vice president is a dining executive orders, for example, that's not with the vice president of the isaac's does she still part of this administration? so i do think that we are seeing this internal conflict to people who are for so many understand how horrible other person donald trump is, and what another 4 years or whatever comes after 4 years with him. me. and then also struggling with the idea of supporting the vice president. and so i think
2:39 am
that's what we're kind of what we're seeing within that undecided space right now. i, i personally, i will say i do how i, i've been saying over and over. i think we have to decide who can we have the most impact on who can we be, who can the find the most effective and efficient ways? i think that is a common le harris and very much not a donald trump, but i think a lot of people are still waiting for that decision is weighing heavily on them. probably the trees we find much appreciate your time here now just you know, thank you. thank you. but as we mentioned, republican the presidential candidate donald trump has been in 3 swing states on sunday. the site to look back the pitch he made to vote his early today. a with your vote or tuesday, i will end inflation. i will stop the invasion of criminals coming into your country. your country is under siege. we have criminals of all the right at the
2:40 am
murderer's drug dealers. we have some of the worst terrorist of the world in our country right now. they may live right by you. there letterman by the 10s of thousands, the worst administration, a history of our country. and if we let this slip away, we should have our heads examined and fish it has the very latest on the trump campaign from kingston in north carolina. donald trump taking his message in the final days 2 places where he thinks it can make a difference. he's been in pennsylvania on sunday here in north carolina and he's going on to georgia. oh, swing states. he's spending a lot of time here in north carolina. is team a consent? this is essentially donald trump supply, well know you've had a couple of horses blue bowl state. this is the equivalent for donald trump. one year 2016 and in 2020. if you can't win north carolina, the chances of winning the white house go don't quite dramatically. and so is team
2:41 am
are spending a lot of time, money and energy in the state. they will also be killed by a poll that came out late on saturday from iowa. iowa isn't a swing state. this was a pull from a company that has be fairly accurate in the past. and they suggest that come of the hardest is up 3 points in that state. a state that has been sold lead of public, it was coming out. it's getting votes among women voters and particular older women, voters. and if that's the case, if donald trump is losing states that was considered dead set republicans been, his campaign is having problems that he's going to spend the last 24 hours hitting this wing speaks again, hoping that his message will resonate with suicide still got to make up their mind and then wait to see what the polls deliver. on november, the 5th i would say sir, i'll just go to kingston, north carolina, north carolina. there is one of 2 swing states recently back to it by heart and then whether that might affect how if both has cost the balance remains to be seen
2:42 am
. but that evo thing has already proved popular in many affected areas. has laura call now on why north carolina not is going into election day both comma harris. i'm donald trump, a many neck and neck and a 7 swing states. north carolina is one of them. it has 16, electro bates, one from 4 years ago. like many southern states and purchased the democrats for a century before swinging to the republicans. in the 19 sixty's population shifts, including a lot of people moving in from other states, have made it into a swing states and we some collections. brock obama carried north carolina not really in 2008, but lost it in 2012. since then. it has remained placed with republicans generally having a small advantage. north carolina was the only one and this is swing states, one by donald trump in 2020. but just by around 1.3 percent.
2:43 am
so this time north carolina is very much at play as a crucial swing state. it's tamela harris doesn't need to win north carolina, but any scenario which she does makes hub paul to to 17 electoral votes on the white house a lot easier for trump. he can also gets to 70 without north carolina. but doing so will be very, very hard, like so many of the swing states, north carolina is a story of a few large and heavily democratic cities balance against the hence lived with his boss, rule and republican. democratic vote as a mainly concentrated in the state capital in raleigh, on the neighboring cities of greensborough and high point. and then down here in charlotte, the state's largest city is also a small, but significant concentration out here in the west of the state, around ashville. pretty much everywhere else is republican, right? now, every election has a so called october, surprise. this time it's hard, compelling, devastating storm that costs more than 200 people to be killed,
2:44 am
catastrophic damage across the southeast and united states. and that includes georgia and north carolina of these of the community busted by hurricane helene. and this is a month of a 2020 results. look at these areas in the west. here mostly will mostly white, heavily republican bees, a trump strongholds, except the little pockets of blue that i mentioned a moment to go around the democratic stronghold of ashville. again, by the affected by the hurricane now is unclear how her complaint is going to swing these elections. but it may affect the pace of accounting process. how the federal government, that's by and i'm paris at the white house on the state government to respond to this disaster. and how that perceive to respond could be a key factor for the states votes as, as they had to the pulse as well,
2:45 am
deeply religious, north carolina has a huge evangelical christian population, which is typically voted for republican candidates. donald trump box with just 2 days to go now until the election. there are signs of a crack within the faith. and it could be good news for coming to harris from winston salem in north carolina. phil development posts even in church, you can't get away from the presidential election. the bible very much on the ballot. the some voters, i'm going to vote the way of the bible. i'm going to vote the way of the kingdom we have to see who as evil in their poxy. this bishop says he wants to save america. no. just will for life will for the biblical definition of marriage will not for transgender surgery is, will not for things of that nature with
2:46 am
a strong borders. religion is playing heavily into this election. it is not connecting this deeply developed states, both candidates holding by events. donald trump even selling his own bible. well that aside of north carolina, identifies as evangelical christie, and they are typically conservative. but there are some cracks appearing. i think some of them are probably discuss it. i think they're frustrated, evangelical pasta, ben marcia's, how the know pastors and leaders are gonna. he got death threats after posting this video condemning those who claim they were acting out of space on january 6. the person that's running for secretary of education in, in north carolina, she talked about having obama executed on national television and put that on social media. and i think there's a certain number of christians and evans our calls in, in north carolina and across the country that are saying that this does not represent christ, has to twist. despite how it might look,
2:47 am
the churches are not allowed legally to either endorse or post any presidential candidates if, because of this bit of legislation, it is called the johnson amendment grounds tax exemptions, but prohibits them from any type of political campaign. and that's that the church officials tell us this is a truth list. very rarely use bit of legislation. the leaves of folding have in the south now making way for new growth. there is change in the i did the church. apparently, the vast majority of younger evangelicals claim they care more about claimants and economics than they do about these issues. people are, i think, pretty blogs say about one sexual orientation these days, these evangelicals won't be changing. the question is, will many others? what will that be for the election that live out out to 0, north carolina. let's take a look at another swing state. now donald trump, last wisconsin by just under 21000 votes in 2020. now the trump in house campaigns are fighting for every last vote there,
2:48 am
including in areas where they are unpopular strategies to cotton, to their opponents margins, even in the most unlikely of places. i'll just here as honey jo. castro has this report from the best place of the republican party. a 170 years ago, a group of citizens held a meeting inside this little white school house in ripping wisconsin. they opposed the expansion of slavery, and they decided to call themselves the republicans. and that's how the political party was born. david gray is the former mayor of rippin and a proud descendant of the towns political legacy in front of republic. i'm forever, but i would describe myself as a moderate republican republicans dominate the local county or donald trump one the most votes in the last 2 elections, but cala harris came to reuben in october, trying to p o. off support graces. he and his wife watched the harris rally and
2:49 am
weren't impressed. she's tries to walk away from by and but i think that she was a part of me while trump is trying to stem his losses in parts of wisconsin. that sabre democrats. he recently visited madison. the republican party of today is very different than the one that was founded within these 4 walls in 1854. when republicans were the progressive opposed to the status quote, the party today represents conservatives, and there are other differences. the parties of 1854, we're really focused on the policies and the issues surrounding the people of the day. and if you look now at whatever political party you'll see that they're much more focused on the person and the personalities. mandy times gives tours of the little white school house. now a museum run by the non partisan ripping chamber of commerce. it tries to preserve
2:50 am
the place as a time capsule and shield it even from today's politics route. and we do believe that the history that happened here can be inspiring for people, whether they're whatever political party they're part of. it's just a really good reminder that ordinary people can change the world. and grace says he knows the world is watching how wisconsin voters cast their ballots. he's checking the box for trump. heidi jo castro alger 0 rip in wisconsin, in the battleground states of michigan. now are the american voters could tip the balance on tuesday once a month to get it to james bass has been speaking to a panel of guests on how the candidates are trying to appeal to what could be a decisive demographic. let's stick with michigan now because you are both experts on 8 because it's your, it's your home state. what's your take on michigan? the do you think there is a big problem for harris? with regard to the arrow,
2:51 am
the american votes has given what they feel about the bite and administration and it's support israel and it's ongoing bombardment. both of cause i'm not been in with more than 453000 people that it goes. yeah, absolutely. i think it's a huge challenge for the harris campaign. i have a lot of friends in dearborn and in detroit, but also it's not just the problem is the urban, eric and community. a lot of us in the jewish community, such as myself and other friends, are horrified about the violence and in think that it makes everyone live safe. however, when we see the contrast that a lot of young people are seeing between calmer harris who's reached out about it, is talking about the experience of palestinians. and donald trump, who did some of the most divisive things in history, appointed someone to be the ambassador to israel, who had a financial interest and expanding settlements. we, i think a lot of young people are seeing. pamela harris isn't perfect, but she's someone we can work with in the move and can push this issue forward. and donald trump is as far as you know, out of the question on that issue and far more interested in continuing the sort of
2:52 am
expansion or do you agree with that? eric? because she didn't mean that the convention, there was no speaker on behalf of the palestinians. she hasn't actually being today able to meet into the hearts of, of the, the, out of the american community. when you look at comma la harris over these last $100.00 plus a day, she has reached out to every t demographic that will be voting. and this selection from african american men to latino man. and one key audience says she has not touched at all, has been the air american population. i was in chicago for the democratic national convention. and there was a push to have someone from the air from american community speak at the convention . and it did not happen. and even while she's in michigan this weekend, she's not actually speaking to anyone, as you said, she's not going to be in dearborn, dearborn heights or any of these communities where you do have a number of ever americans that reside. and it comes across as though she is
2:53 am
strategically ignoring this community. i'm not saying she's going to lose the air of american vote, but she doesn't seem as though she's aggressively going after it, like she has other key demographics. so when you look at the polls, one of the unknowns, of course, all the people who have voting for the 1st time because we don't know where they're going to go to the young voters. what's your take on what's matches for younger versus who will be voting for the 1st time in 2024. yeah. you know we work with a lot of young voters. we've been talking to voters. i just spent 10 days in michigan and i was on the university of michigan campus in ann arbor. and a lot of young folks are really worried about and ongoing bombardment in guys, an environment on those. and. and they're also worried about climate change. and when you know, when we think about it, my little sister, her 18th birthday party, was actually almost cancel it because of climate induced bad air quality in the state of michigan. and so her and all of her friends are thinking about what's the actual impact now that climate change is affecting our lives today,
2:54 am
and who's going to be taking on those issues. and really there's only one party who talks about it in a serious way. and as we've just heard in that panel discussion, despite the unprecedented storms and he twice the issue of climate change has not received much attention this campaign season. both candidates a stock suite different policies that calling baker expense. as donald trump and cobble of harris have very different views on climate change, power says it's real. trump says it isn't. but climate change has not been at the front of harris's campaign. so it's widely believed that she will continue jo biden's policies, his inflation reduction act, and other bills earmarked over of trillion dollars for climate focused projects that included cleaner energy production, more electric cars, more battery plants and more efficient housing. but on january 20th, most of that money will still be on the table. donald trump says he'll diverted to build roads, bridges, and dams,
2:55 am
and eliminate regulations that were designed to speed. the change from gas powered cars and trucks to electric vehicles, and there will likely be objections from states that we're counting on that money, including some that support trump. trump also says a lower energy prices by opening up new drilling projects and quickly he wants to bring back cold. but that's an industry that's been in decline for decades and talking about it won't increase demand by itself. the truth is that the us is both the world's biggest fossil fuel producing nation and an economy where the energy and environment is rapidly changing. renewables now account for almost 10 percent of the countries energy use. trump says he will again leave the powers climate agreement as he did in 2017. but even under harris to hit the powers targets the us would have to reduce its emissions by over 50 percent by 2030. and that's just improbable. whoever wins this race, by the time of their an organization next year,
2:56 am
the world will just have experienced it's too hot us to yours. on record. a while in north carolina and georgia have been badly hit by storms. another swing state, arizona is facing reco heat, waves of water shortages rentals, reports from the states painted desert. as arizona grapples with drought and water shortages, climate change is high up on the list of voters priorities. a recent poll showed 64 percent of voters in this swing state. say, climate change is very important or somewhat important to them in terms of who they choose to be the next president. the state has experience record heat waves with 100 days over 37 degrees celsius. this year alone, there are concerns about water conservation and the claimant's impact on human health. the candidates offer vastly different solutions to the problem. donald
2:57 am
trump slogan is drill, baby drill, and he advocates more fossil fuel extraction. cala harris supports expansion of clean energy and renewable sources, but compared to the economy, immigration, and threats to democracy, climate change as received surprisingly little attention. during this years campaign rob reynolds, l. g 0 in the painted desert of arizona. well, that's it for this news hour. we've been following all the latest on the us campaign trail with less than 48 hours until the americans had to the problems to elect the next president. well, the sound we heard from democratic presidential candidate come to harris, excuse campaigning, an east lansing michigan republican presidential candidates. donald trump will be speaking in macon, georgia shortly. and some nice pictures from that to events with forces of waiting for him to a pip. who would bring that speech to night when it happens?
2:58 am
in the meantime, i'll be back with more news in just a few minutes. stay with us here, and thanks so much and be from the the repair. it is sure visual and see us. and he threw off when, i mean, i wasn't here, i shot him dead. the controversial us know, stand your ground. you're saying that these laws actually encourage more violence. given your statements, the right to kim, we're sending the message that you can just do this. this is ok, i'm denying justice to victims, families lines investigate licensed q on out to 0 in an already follow to sign for the escalation of the president by then i a working to end this war. i did encourage him to get this over,

which it has to get over with fast, with many desperate for change. it is absolutely essential to avoid then all 2011. what is the world to expect to each other in the world? we are. we have to be brave, otherwise we're not gonna have a country left. how will the choice of one nation affect us all the us 2024? on out to 0. interrogate the narrative. there's no question about it. the united states has effectively complicit the genocide challenge the rhetoric. yes. a unique the correct. but so is the international community upfront. only without just there . there is no channel that covers world news like we do. we revisit places the state houses are really invested in that and that's a privilege. as a journalist the,
