a global organization that is organized around the hierarchy of power and the in the world may be unjust. and black and legitimacy, and i think the calls are stemming from both of those types of criticisms of the present structure of international institutions. and just a matter of weeks ago they arrive elect donald trump again in the white house. he sort of notice that the structure in chief as he do you think he's going to help him to this mission? well, i think we have to be very careful to distinguish 2 forms of critiques that we're seeing of international governance at this point in the world. one is of the start that i just described, issuing mainly from the countries of the global south field. that'd be a reading structures of international governance. unjustly denied them representation and opportunity to influence policy making. the other former critique, the one that donald trump makes very vociferously from the united states. uh uh, is based on the idea that the uh, global structures represent

a check upon the sovereignty of very powerful countries in the global order. but it's an entirely different form of populism. a call for the return of sovereignty, 2 countries that already wheeled over a representative interest influence in global governance organizations. but it has cooling for the does, it protects us, the pulling back up the us on the global stage and if indeed it does do that. so we seeing signs of leadership else with filling a potential void here. yes, yes, very much. so i think that what we see coming out of the global south and particularly from latin america in form of leadership from countries like brazil, possibly from mexico in the future, is a representation of an alternative approach to global governance. it's not a non critical approach, it's not a stat as close to approach it still demands reform, but not the abolition of these international organizations. instead,

it seeks their strengthening and increasing their capacity to represent the interest of the world as a whole and to strengthen its capacity really, to check the power of countries like the united states. that have at times use these organizations to provide a cloak of legitimacy for intervention that they undertaken other parts of the well as those are the at that time reform and not replace existing institutions. because of course, that is very much india and brazil is approach to this, as opposed to say russia and china is that's exactly right. i think that what we see coming from these leaders in the global south is a call to take the organizations that we have now improve their capacity to represent the interests of nations that were under represented at the time of their formation. and perhaps even strengthened their capacity to, to issue and enforce regulations at the global level. and it does
