know what the problems are with menstral hygeine in india and also a grounded conversation. she's very approachable and very friendly to talk to. and she was willing to do anything that we wanted. we wanted her to drape the sari. she wore the bindi and all the traditional things as well. she looks gorgeous and a bit indian which we love. now you have not come alone have you? >> no, i have come with three other women here. two are from mumbai and they had never gotten on a flight before. this is the first time they've gotten on a flight and straight to london. it's been a dream come true for them. really, really happy it's such a special occasion. they've gotten on a flight for the first time so their impression of the u.k. will be windsor. >> and the incredible people here. >> what an honor to be one of the seven charities that harry and meghan have asked people to

donate to. what does that mean for you? >> i think a really small organization, that kind of support that comes in early on really helps us exponentially grow. now we can think about expanding to 100 more women because we've built that credibility through this kind of support. it's really important for the morale of our own women, for them to perceive and see themselves in the papers and also just feel like what they're doing is really important and it's being recognized. >> how do you feel being here? you're about to go to the royal wedding. >> just really honored and super excited. i think this is really a once in a lifetime opportunity and i can't believe that i'm here. >> it's wonderful that you're here. she's only 23 years old. you look sensational. have a fantastic day. >> thank you so much. >> thanks, anita. we're delighted to welcome to the studio barrenes lawrence.

thank you so much for taking the time to join us today. it is a very interesting moment in british cultural history. we're seeing a snapshot of something quite different. given that you have met the couple, can you give me your impression of meghan markle when you spoke to her? >> they have an empathy coming across from her which i thought was really good. because at the end of the day it's quite a roller coaster. to have somebody so calm and really engaging. it was good to have that. at the end of the day for me it was good to have that. >> what did she talk to you about? >> she didn't say that much. she was really pleased to be there and understood about what happened around steven and just saying how sorry she was to hear about the news and really pleased to be there at the time.

>> we talked a little bit about this earlier on and the royal family always has causes and it looks like meghan is bring is those causes on. there's always a big thing that the royal family can't get involved in politics but there is a point where cause and politics kind of -- the diagram overlaps a little bit there. >> i remember when their relationship was first announced there was a lot of language in the press that i thought was very coded racist references and i don't remember but prince harry issued a statement from the palace where he calls that out and condemns it and it was completely unprecedented and i think that it is difficult for them to put themselves out there on issues like this but when it effects them personally or they feel strongly enough about it they do. it was a hugely welcome moment because people like me that write about it are often attacked themselves and to have somebody in that position be on

your side makes a huge difference and i hope they'll continue to venture into spaces that have been a bit too difficult because that's what we need in the country. we need to start talking about things that we prefer to sweep under the carpet and i think meghan has a track record of doing that. harry now has entered that realm as well and that offers a lot of promise and actually if the royal family wants to make themselves more relevant to the new generation that's the kind of thing they do need to do. >> we should let viewers know -- they probably know, we've seen sarah, the duchess of york enter st. george's chapel. >> i want to ask you about when we see the royals and the soon to be royals turn up at events, what happens is automatically usually more attention than an event would get because of their presence.

for what does that mean in your role as you consider your work? >> steven's name has always atracked a lot of media attention but to have both meghan and harry turn up it was fantastic. it shows that they're more in tune to what's happening within society and the fact that they wanted to be there to support him. we had prince william to to steven's trust before with kate and that's amazing, because they spent time talking to young people and you couldn't pry them away because they're so keen to make sure that they spoke to everyone that was there on the day. >> announcer: stay tuned for more of prince harry and meghan markle's royal wedding on bbc america. mom, dad, can we talk?

barone have you spoken to the young people about this wedding? do you think -- are they engaged in it? >> i haven't had a chance to be around the wedding but i've been speaking to them. it's so important to have to get young people's views. we had one young student attend the service and he's one of the law students so it was quite good to have young people. the idea was about voices, young people's voices. so that's what the theme was. to see them there on the day, of course we invite all our students to whatever we're doing to make sure they're represented

at all times. >> hopefully in the future we can move on from this being a question, but is it important or how important do you think it is that we are seeing the first biracial member of the royal family? >> i was saying this morning that they've had a black queen before. this is back in 1750 something so it's not the first time. i think we need to move away from always talking about people's color. ho thed to talk about w person is, what they're bringing with them, the background. i think for me that's what's important. if we don't start moving and doing that, the race issue which is important, we need to make sure we address it but at the same time we need to look at the person and make sure that we welcome them for who they are. >> thank you so much. thanks for coming along today. it's just a few minutes after 11:00 a.m. pretty sure wedding parties are getting into full swing all around the country. not just here. let's go back to richard in los angeles where it's about 3:00 in the morning. let's see how they're

proud of our program at st. francis. >> tell me about what stood out about meghan to you? >> when she walked up on the stage, she was just amazing right away. she had the charisma and it caught me right away so i casted her as the lead. >> do you think that background in acting, do you think it helps on a day like, that poise, does it help on a day like today when it feels like the whole world is going to be watching her? >> well, to be in theatre, you're evolving in that character. so use it as a platform and she has the charisma to reach out to other people. >> thank you. do not play down your part in today. you gave her her first role. she goes on to "suits" for more than 100 episodes. she meets prince harry and goes on to marry him. i say it's down to you.

now we know that prince harry was in the armed forces, one of the most rewarding experience of his life. 2014 he founded the invictus games. they've gone from strength to strength and two people very much involved with him now, victoria gosling who looked after the games in 2016 and double amputee and former u.k. captain. welcome to both of you. >> thank you. great to be here. >> by the way, victoria, you should be organizing the wedding with your c.v. you are on it.

2016, talk us through that because he was quite the tough boss, wasn't he. he was on the phone all the time. >> he was. we had it in 2014 and wanted to ensure that it kept the brand integrity. he's very much engaged in ensuring that we kept that integrity to the games but of course we were taking it over to america and we had to make sure -- it was the first sort of opportunity to put the brand on a global platform and of course with the distance -- in london he was there all the time but when it came to orlando he clearly couldn't be there so he was literally ensuring that we were doing it and then we came back to give him a break to make sure that everything -- >> bernie, you were captain of the team last year. >> absolutely, yes. >> what effect did the games have on you personally? >> for me personally, when i was retired from the army, i still felt like i wanted to perform what i was when i was serving. having the opportunity to be captain, to be given an

opportunity to step up, to stand up and be the person i was and it brought about that person. >> it's interesting because british service men and women i guess have in common with most service men and women around the world, they're people with stamp ma, ambition. if that's taken away that's a huge part of your personality you can't express. >> sit down and watch tv. the opportunity to step out of that and something that prince harry did to move into invictus makes a massive difference. >> there is a sense that you obviously get institutionalized because you were in there such a long time. there's a sense that like i said from the people i've spoken to that there's a distance or a certain sense of loss. is the invictus to a point filled that in your life? >> it made me the person i was.

when that was took away, it is taken away, when you get together again, that camaraderie, you feel a part of it. you prove you can do it as well as you did it while in service. >> can i ask you, you were both in toronto when meghan and harry. for them to go public because clearly, the games are really special to prince harry. the it's very much part of his life. i think recently. so the very fact that's what they became public was great because it was everybody could see it firsthand. this just added more sparkle,

really. >> going to be on the phone when the wedding's over. >> an accident. it's happening. everything was in full splendor. >> they're having a delayed honeymoon. on their way there to the games, they might take time. >> that's a right place to do it. >> yeah. >> we are approaching 45 minutes away. when that service will begin. just a couple of minutes before midday. meghan markle will arrive at the great west door of st. george's chapel and then process aalone along the aisle and she will cross the part of the chapel and cross by george clooney

approaching the altar, where prince harry will be waiting for her. then the archbishop will conduct the actual marriage ceremony and the dean of windsor, who is in charge of this magnificent place, he will be in charge of the overall service. now some kress ta music. some very english flavor. the chamber orchestra and conduct ed by crist quer warren green and they are a superb group of players.

tindall, they were married back in 2011. zara phillips expecting a child and they'll be sitting very near the queen and other members of the royal family on the right hand side of the choir as we look at them. so just basking in the sunshine as they make their way down. they have a very short walk from the private apartment. if you just look at the part of the castle in the background there, that is where the private apartments are. prince michael of kent, princess michael of kent, cousin of the queen of course and they'll be there with the duke and duchess of kent as well and we also have the duke and duchess of gloster too. making their way down. so members of the royal family making their way down.

they know what's in store. it's a happy service. it's a service of celebration. they're enjoying the crowds outside and people having a very good look. how lucky are the 2,000 people in the lower ward of windsor castle because they have been waiting since about 8:15 or 8:30 this morning in lovely weather but waiting with the cameras poised and now they're getting some of the best shots possible of the royal family as they arrive and in a short while of course we'll be seeing the prince of wales and duchess of cornwa cornwall. that's all to come. making their way in. very, very happy to be here today. st. george's chapel windsor, there you are. great symbol of medieval splendor and the perfect setting for today's service. >> thank you.

inside that car is the bride to be. meghan markle and her mother. we saw them arrive yesterday. see a glimpse of the bride. she's wearing a veil. but for now, not much more than that. it's moving at a stately pace. once the home of another remarkable american. the first female to take her seat in the house of commons back in 1919. >> now is an opportune moment. >> yes, sorry. i'm just trying to get that

sight of meghan. she is coming past us right now. looking absolutely stunning. she is wearing a long veil. looking happy and relaxed sitting next to her mom doria bursting with pride. you can just imagine what that journey is going to be like for the next 30 minutes. that's how long it will take to get to windsor castle which is 9.5 miles away from here. it's been closed to the public since yesterday evening so this will be the first time they see world press cameras point pointing at them from every angle and of course the huge crowds that will be lining the streets waving and cheering them on as they approach st. george's chapel where we will get to see that dress in it's full glory and let me tell you, i'm sure the end result will be stunning. the last person to see the dress of course will be prince harry. what a moment for meghan and what a moment for the royal family in 2018.

>> can i just say -- can i just say. >> the three women in this studio all went -- we saw a boat neck and sleeve and veil. >> rather feminine very romantic neck. what i loved was that really nice chunky tiara. i couldn't tell if it was diamonds or pearls or some combination of the two. low bun swept back hair like that gossimer like veil. >> you're asking her to call it. >> i mean, i eluded there to the history of cliveden house hotel. i'm wondering as an american when you watch all of this.

you're looking at the heart of the british establishment, there's a fresh, american about to enter there. zara phillips making herself as comfortable as one can when one is heavily pregnant but when you see this fresh young american, full of education, full of thoughts and ambition. she has a million dollar smile that the cameras love. she is great and when i say performer i mean that in the best sense, she knows how to communicate a message. >> it's interesting because she is so modern and very independent and speaks her mind. so it will be interesting to see once she is married if she will continue to be able to do that

because she has so much to say and she has stood up for so many important causes including gender equality which is very important to her. she spoke about that eloquently at the un for years now and i hope that her voice can be heard and i think with harry by her side it will be. i don't know to what extent but he also wants to give folks a voice and they are humanitarians and care about people and together they're a powerful team. they call them the fab 4 for a reason. >> that puts windsor on the map. >> not all of britain looks like this. this is a very cliche view of britain. the union jack and so forth but it puts windsor on the map. >> absolutely. we're really not familiar with

it. people still thought the wedding was in london, including myself. oh i have to get on the train and go 20 something miles to get here but then when you're here it's like a fairy tale. >> we're seeing beatrice. >> you live and you learn. >> i was being told earlier that it's an up and coming designer, quite knew on the scene already and do you know what, i think they're gorgeous. >> yes. >> really, really understated and beautiful. >> there we see the royals. it's the place that she has been on many occasions before. it's another day out really isn't it? >> looking through the order of service. >> i like her ruby red. >> how do you think she epitomizes the modern american woman? >> she never wanted to be one of

the ladies that lunch. she wanted to be one of the women who work and that's very much the modern american woman. a doer. someone that stands tall and proud of herself. very independent, works hard which she has done her whole life and she has principles from the time she was 11 and saw this commercial that offended her because she found it sexist and her dad actually said then write a letter and she wrote to among other people, hillary clinton. who was then a first lady and it's a few months later that ad was gone. >> time after time you go back, she's american, she actually had to work very hard to get where she is and there's something incredibly admirable about that.

>> she gives back as well. she understands she has this platform and she wants to use it for positive things and that proceeds all of this and they were on parallel courses in some way because harry was doing the same thing and then they came together and it felt just like a natural union. >> stay tuned for more of the royal wedding on bbc america.

yes, we're keeping a very close eye now on the next group of royals because we already had quite a few members of the royal family come but of course bride on the way. we expect to see the groom very soon with his brother the duke of cambridge. the best man. they'll probably walk down toward the chapel very soon and with me, keeping me company here, two experts, veteran observers. we have the royal commentator and also journalist robert hardeman and the royal correspondent. on a day like today weather wise and event wise. i'm just thinking just before we see the groom and the best man, just thought about this partnership. we saw it back in 2011. a very long time ago and now we're going to see the roles

reversed today. what are we reading into that? what is our partnership telling us today? >> today we have the most modern royal wedding we have ever had, really. each royal wedding brings with it new developments. new trends in fashion but i think today, it's a sort of extraordinary atmosphere. it's sort of the stars and stripes a long side the union jack. you have hollywood. you have a 1,000 year old castle with 1,000-year-old monarchy as well. it's a fabulous blend of ancient and modern. >> the most modern? >> it is the most modern royal wedding we have ever seen and certainly the most modern worldwide. she's walking herself up the aisle.

in a week of twists and turns. yes i think as robert said, this match shows that the monarchy has moved. it has moved and modernized and people will be celebrating that today. >> we had a little glimpse inside the car. >> very demure dress. boat neck style. a big tiara. it's hard to see. a veil. doria is looking beautiful in a hat. we think that's burberry but meghan looks magnificent. >> a quick word. one of the big elements of news of today, the big news of today was of course the title for the couple. just a quick word about the title. >> duke of sussex is a royal dukethat became extingt in the 1830s. so it faded from view. it was widely expected but duke of sussex. but i think most people will remember him as prince harry of wales. >> we'll be back in just a moment because they're really

patient and quite now as we have a sense that things are about to happen. >> the scene of all the guests awaiting, studying the splendor in st. george's chapel. >> doesn't look like tom harding. with us now are two more people that have met and worked ian green and the french recipients of the diana legacy award. welcome. first of all, what a remarkable thing to receive. just explain what the award is and why you got it? >> the award is for young people that have been continuing princess diana's legacy in terms of kindness and compassion. >> what did you do to deserve it? >> i was born with hiv and i think it's important that young people born with hiv are able to change the world ultimately in

the perception of hiv. >> you are very concise and very eloquent. i reckon you make it sound easier than it was to do. >> definitely. it's been a process and a lot of time spent thinking about how to do it and why to do it. stuff like that. >> the couple to choose a trip to nottingham sends a huge message. >> the prince has been a strong supporter of the hiv sector for a long tile but then to use their first engagement together said something about their care about the concern and the cause but also really importantly about they want to tackle the stigma still associated with

hiv. >> which is obviously a legacy of his mom. >> absolutely. i was privileged to meet princess diana on a couple of occasions. i can see his mother in the son. they have that passion and empathy for things that they really care about. >> when he took the hiv test there was a 500% increase. that makes a massive, massive difference for getting people to test and normalize hiv testing. >> what is the involvement of such an incredible, right now the world's most high profile couple in something that's so important to you? >> i think they're choosing chiva as one of the 7 charities to contribute too is symbolic of how much they care about hiv as an issue. >> do you have a wish for the couple today? we're all sitting here waiting for the big moment. >> we wish them all the best from chiva.

but he knows the task ahead and the commitment he's about to make is the greatest one of his life and i think he's looking just a little bit nervous. quite understandable. >> it's not the easiest walk as well. it's kind of a long walk down to your own wedding. >> he has his brother there. his brother who has seen him through so much who only recently apparently was asked to be best man. he left it until the last minute. >> they have broken the tradition. >> and we learned only less than an hour agatha we will see prince harry today once he has made his vows put on a wedding ring and that is a new precedent

the dean of windsor david connor in charge of this service today, reflecting the status of st. george's chapel. this is not under the jurisdiction of the arch bishop of canterbury. it's under the queen's jurisdiction. it's known as a royal peculiar. and answerable to the queen. not to the archbishop at canterbury and that reflects the status of this chapel within windsor and the ancient college of windsor and the fact, of course, that this chapel has many, many sanctuaries of royal tradition attached to it. interesting too that today prince harry has opted to wear the uniform of the blues and royals reflecting his army heritage. he does have more senior ranks and more senior uniforms but

that tells you something about where he felt most comfortable today. the official office of the prince of wales which we heard performing there in the 20 minutes or so before the brothers arrived. >> so they make their way along the aisle. up toward the choir. they'll be followed a little later of course just before midday by the bride herself who will be joined halfway down the chapel just by the prince of wales that will accompany her for the last section of the procession. during that procession there will be a performance of wonderful music and the trumpeter. here we are. the scene outside on the fringes

of windsor. and this is is just at the end of the long walk approaching windsor castle itself. where there will be a grand procession by the way after the service. so this is going to be a very familiar sight today. we have there the conductor christopher warren green with his players entertaining the congregation. a quick check on the time and i think that hotel, christopher, they are pretty much on time today and just first of all the sight of the two brothers making their way in. >> very wonderful to see them in their blues and royals uniform. a lot of people thought he might wear his world marine military uniform but they just look so, so happy really lovely. >> and wearing the rank of major. i mean, totally equal today.

the reason that prince william is wearing the gold. he is an adt to the queen and also both of them t blues and royals means an awful lot to them. particularly to prince harry. it's going to play a key part in today. >> very soon we'll have the prince of whales here. >> unexpected but i think he'll be very pleased. it will be rather wonderful to see the prince of wales at the bridge between the monarch and the future of the royal family. we were supposed to see her father but it will be a good thing for the prince of wales and the royal family and i'm told he was incredibly touched that meghan asked him. >> and he was himself married here in 2005. it's a place with incredibly

happy memories for him and i think after some of the days, he's just drawn a line under all of that and for the prince to be there, he will be very touched to be right in the heart of it. >> it's not been the easiest in some ways. i mean for meghan certainly of course and this will be put together and they're determined to enjoy it. >> absolutely. >> there's always, the king of spain coming out at the last minute because the honeymoon was going to begin. all of these things always happen. on the day it comes good. these will be the things that people remember. >> so very soon we'll have the prince of wales and duchess of cornwall arriving and of course the arrival of her majesty the queen and the duke of edinburough. >> he is the iron duke.

references during the morning and we saw it earlier and of course we have the late diana's sister who will be delivering one of the readings. and that again is a powerful statement about her presence still. >> harry will say always, he told me that everything he does in his life and his work he thinks about what his mother would have thought. he is determined to keep her very much alive. meghan is wearing an engagement ring with jewels that belonged to diana. i'm sure this evening there will be tributes to diana in the best man speech and she will be felt very much apart of the day as harry said that he missed her. on days like that when he proposed to meghan markle he missed her enormously and is determined to keep her memory with him. >> everyone watching would understand that. on a day like today, you know, there's lots of happiness and joy, but for them to -- >> i think the whole world will remember. thinking back to that 12-year-old boy making an incredibly brave and desperately sad walk in 1997 behind his mother's coffin and these are molts people will not forget

so many royal occasions. the bride making her way into the castle and the next time we see meghan will be when she arrives at the west door. and there waiting for her in the choir will be her future husband prince harry and the best man of course, the duke of cambridge. just exchanging a few words of reassurance and advice. they look around slightly nervously but we completely understand that. but you do get a very strong sense here again within such close proximity howell they understand each other and howell they get on. there's a clear one. >> it's lovely to watch there. harry looks nervous and william is clearly joking.

just at the end before catherine arrived william looks a little bit nervous and harry was playing the joker and it's lovely to see that role today. >> so they arrive and then they have the choice of sitting in there for quite awhile but wisely they went into another little room just to calm down a little bit and gather their thoughts before they enter. so they now have a wait of around 10 minutes before the bride arrives. bride having arrived at the top end of the castle with her mother and final adjustments will be made there before they arrive and within a minute or so of midday. that will be a great fanfare by the state trumpeters. we saw them early on. they will be there and at that moment, harry will know that meghan has arrived at the west

door. that is the signal to the world that the service will get underway and the procession will begin and once again, i like to share with viewers how important that moment will be and to take it all in. that will look very dramatic and very different and then of course to be joined by the prince of wales to go into the choir itself. we will not have seen anything like it. and dare i say, in most. >> you're absolutely right. it's unpresented for a royal bride to walk herself down an aisle. in fact, actually, serena williams who is sitting in the choir. >> just on the left hand side. >> she did walk herself down the aisle when her father pulled out at the last minute. it's going to look different. it's going to look dramatic, but she was an actress. i'm sure she will be drawing on her poise and experience to make it up to the organ screen where the prince of wales will

this is a royal wedding. i reckon that we're about to see the prince of wales. duchess of cornwall. we h probably see duchess of cambridge, too. we are waiting for the lovely scene with six bridesmaids and

four pageboys. all of them there for a rather special reason either because they're children or friends or children of the royal family itself and they will be, i think, a lovely sight. and they'll be a nice scene where meghan is accompanied by two page boys who are children of her very good friend. so there we have the mother of the bride making her way in. must be a rather unreal day. she is going to be proud. she is going to be overjoyed but she must be pinching herself in some ways because this is, this is just an experience that nobody could really prepare for, isn't that fair? >> a week ago she was in california packing and thinking what to take to the u.k.

yesterday she was having tea with the queen. today she is being watched by over a billion people but it's still, it's wonderful family moment. doesn't really matter whether you're being watched by one person or a billion, you're seeing your daughter get married. >> so the rolls royce phantom 6. this is bringing the prince of wales and the dutchess of cornwall to the gallery porch. this is a different entrance which is used by members of the royal family and they will be making their way in directly into the choir. later on of course the prince of wales will be making his way down to the center of st. george's chapel to wait for the bride as she enters just at the stroke of midday. we're just five minutes away from the start of the wedding service of prince harry and meghan markle. so the prince of wales and

dutchess of cornwall were married in a civil ceremony. and there's her majesty the queen and the duke of edinburgh. her majesty at the age of 92, clearly enjoying the day and the duke of edinburgh who had his share of ill health, delighted to see that at the age of 96, 97 next month, he's able to come and see the wedding today. that's going to be a great source of joy for the couple and the entire country. i have just been told that the queen is wearing a dress by stewart parvin. it's a purple and grey printed silk coat and dress. the hat is by angela kelly.

but it will make quite a statement too. and there we have the mother of the bride waiting in the choir and just a thought from what doria is thinking at this moment. >> she must be feeling exceptionally proud of her daughter, completely overwhelmed, i'm sure. the queen made her welcome as have the rest of the members of the royal family but she is feeling unbelievably proud that her daughter, an american is about to marry into the royal family and become the duchess of sussex. i'm sure that's something she never thought would happen. >> harry looks nervous. >> he has a bridesmaid and page. family honor at stake here. they both have things to worry about. >> she is the only member of

meghan markle's family attending. so she is representing her daughter today. >> we want to see the bridesmaids and the page boy. that's what we want and we're about to be treated. making their way down. making their way down to the lower wards and this is our vantage point. slowly making their way past all the crowds there. some of the 2,000 people invited into the lower ward today. lots of these by the way are either members of the royal household or people part of the windsor castle community but as i was saying earlier, thousands of them have been selected. ♪

power in love. if you don't believe me, think about a time when you first fell in love. the whole world seemed to center around you and your beloved. well there's power. power in love. not just in it's romantic form but any form, any shape of love. there's a certain sense in which when you are loved and you know it, when someone cares for you and you know it, when you love and you show it, it actually feels right. there's something right about it. and there's a reason for it. the reason has to do with the source. you were made by a power of love. and our lives were meant and are meant to be lived in that love. that's why we are here. ultimately the source of love is god himself.

the source of all of our lives. there's an old medieval poem that says where true love is found god himself is there. the new testament says it this way, beloved, let us love one another because love is of god and those who love are born of god and know god. those who do not love, do not know god. why? for god is love. there's power in love. there's power in love to help and heal when nothing else can. there's power in love to lift up and liberate when nothing else will. there's power in love to show us the way to live. set me as a seal on your heart. a seal on your arm. for love it is strong as death. but love is not only about a young couple.

and the power of love is demonstrated by the fact that we're all here. two young people fell in love and we all showed up. but it's not just for and about a young couple who we rejoice with. it's more than that. jesus of nazareth, on one occasion was asked by a lawyer to sum up the essence of the teachings of moses and he went back and reached back into the hebrew scriptures and jesus said you should love the lord your god with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind and all

your strength. this is the first and great commandment and the second is like it, love your neighbor as yourself. and then in matthews version he added, he said, on these two, love of god and love of neighbor hangs all the laws, all the prophets, everything that moses wrote, everything in the holy prophet, everything that god has been trying to tell the world, love god. love your neighbors. and more than anything, love yourself. someone once said that jesus began most revolutionary movement in all of human history, a movement grounded in the unconditional love of god for the world and a movement mandating people to live that love and in so doing, to change not only their lives but the very life of the world itself.

i'm talking about power. real power. power to change the world. if you don't believe me, well, there's a place in america's antebellum south that explained the dynamic power of love and why it has the power to transform. they sang a spiritual even in the midst of their captivity. it's a healing balm, something that can make things. to make the wounded hole. there is a baulm in gilead that heals the soul and one of the stanza says if you cannot preach like peter and you cannot pray like paul, you just tell the

love of jesus, how he died to save us all. his way of love theay of fe. he died to save us all. he died for anything he could get out of it. jesus did not get an honorary doctorate for dying. he wasn't getting anything out of it. he gave up his life. he sacrificed his life for the good of others. for good of the other. for the wellbeing of the world for us. that's what love is. love is not selfish. love can be sacrificial. and in so doing, it counts redemptive. unselfish, sacrificial redemptive love changes lives.

and it can change this world. if you don't believe me, just stop and think or imagine. think and imagine. think and imagine a world where love is the way. imagine our homes and families when love is the way. imagine neighborhoods and communities where love is the way. imagine government and nations where love is the way. imagine business and commerce when love is the way. >> imagine the world when love

is the way. when love is the way. unselfish, sacrificial, redemptive. when love is the way. when love is the way we will make justice roll down like a mighty stream and righteousness like an ever flowing brook. poverty will become history. when love is the way, the earth will be a sanction ware. when love is the way we will lay town our sword and shields down by the riverside to study war. no more. when love is the way there's plenty good room for all of god's children. and when love is the way, we actually treat each other well,

like we are actually family. when love is the way. we know the source and we are brothers and sisters. children of god. brothers and sisters a new heaven, a new earth, a new world, a new human family. and let me tell you something, solomon was right in the old testament that fire -- i'll sit down. we got to get you all married. he was arguably one of the great minds, great spirits of the 20th century. roman catholic priests, scientists, the scholar, a mystic.

some of his writings said and others have that the discovery of invention or harnessing of fire was one of the great scientific and technological discoveries in all of human history. fire to a great extent made human civilization possible. fire made it possible to cook food and to provide sanitary ways of eating which reduced the spread of disease and fire made it possible to heat warm environments and there by made human migration around the world a possibility even in the colder climate. is no -- there wasn't without fire. no iron without fire. no industrial revolution without fire. they're greatly dependent on the human ability and capacity to take fire and use it for human

good. anybody get here in a car today? an automobile? nod your head ifs you did. i know there were some carriages. but those of us that came in cars, fire is a controlled harness. fire made that possible. i know that the bible says and i believe it that jesus walked on the water but i have to tell you i didn't walk across the atlantic ocean to get here. controlled fire in that plane brought me here. and can socially with each other. fire makes all of that possible and greatest discovery in all of human history.

and harnesses the energy of fire again. if humanity ever had the energy of love it would be the second time in history that we have discovered fire. dr. king was right. the redemptive power of love. and when we do that, we will make of this old world a new world. my brother, my sister, god love you, god bless you, and may god hold us all in those awl mighlm

hints of the sunshine to come and the great sight of the west door of st. george's chapel. members of the calvary lining the steps ready to escort the couple through the town. and there is the kiss that everyone was hoping for and waiting for. >> well, that was a service and a half, wasn't it? >> you took the words right out of my mouth. what an exquisite scene.

the magnificent floral displays behind them and we saw just a glimpse of that tiara. from 1932. the central taken from 1893. we were talking about the dress quite a lot this morning and what a dress it seems to be. what do you make of it? >> listen i'm slightly outside my comfort zone here but she just looks stunning and happy. they did a great job. >> joe it wasn't what you expected but what are your thoughts? >> it's absolutely genius, actually in that it completely compliments her style. it's got the real pure romance as well as perfectly ree gal for a wedding. gorgeous. >> and we are seeing members of the royal party there. there's little princess charlotte but also take a look around charlotte. what a day this is. her mother the duchess of

cambridge is saying. just a few short weeks since she gave birth but there she is looking splendid and doria ragland. seemed to be having a few quite thoughts to herself but now there she is with her extended family, the prince of wales having a few words with her there. it could not be a more beautiful day here at windsor. >> so the carriage is ready. harry makes his way in and helps his new wife into this that they have chosen for this carriage procession. a lovely open carriage perfect for this day. giving everyone a very good look at the young couple as they make their way through the streets of

windsor and then back to the castle on the long walk. it's going to be a lovely procession. we have been enjoying the service and now we're going to enjoy the scenes as well. and i have to say, robert, at this point, they look remarkably happy and relaxed given that they have been through what for most of them is one of life's great milestones. >> stay tuned for more of the royal wedding.

way through the lower ward and then they go up toward the great round towel past st. george's chapel there and waving to the 2,000 or more people that were especially invited to be included in this lovely event today and of course watched keenly by smiling members of the royal family including the queen and the duke of edinburgh that is here today after just a month of surgery on his hip. people very pleased that he was able to make it. look at the waves and the smiles and really, robert, the relief. >> yes.

the relief. the royal family standing waving rather than being in the procession. >> absolutely. just such amazingly lovely scenes and this is that really rather wonderful pageantry and this is going to be shortly the first time that members of the public outside the castle walls, there's definitely more than 100,000 estimated to come out to see them, get a chance to be the new duke and duchess of sussex for the first time and the roars as they come up around the streets of windsor will be quite amazing. >> just go into the eastern end of the castle where they will

disappear for a few moments and then i expect her majesty the queen and the duke of edinburgh to be leaving. >> more people leaving the chapel itself including the mother of the bride. that's been for her a pretty intense and he emotional moment. >> extraordinary. she looked remarkably composed the whole way through. really emotional as she understandably saw her daughter arrive. >> very soon the queen will be leaving st. george's chapel and the national anthem will be played to signal the queen's departure. ♪ ♪

>> the queen and duke of edinburgh making their way back to the eastern end of windsor castle. that's where she spends so much of her time and that's where of course we get the sense of the fact that she loves windsor probably more than anywhere else. and who can disagree with that given the fact that it is a place that has a thousand years of royal history attached to it. but here we are, the wonderful carriage procession underway and the young couple preparing to greet the crowd on the streets of windsor. >> we're just seeing on the top of the round tower to the right,

the largest of all the very large royal standards, the biggest one has come out today. it's magnificent. it's so big. >> such wonderful scenes. these are of course the horses pulling the carriage, shortly they'll be joined by the household calvary and it will be lovely to see the interaction between harry and meghan there. they'll be seeing the crowd for the first time. >> the windsor grey horses especially selected for the procession today. the ones that will be on their best behavior but also the ones that look really magnificent. everything has been prepared in great detail for this procession. probably the best part of half an hour but every inch of this procession has been planned and you can just see something, you know, not just the color, not

just the style, not just the pageantry but it's going to be an impressive show for the world to see. it is a symbol, if you like, of military precision but also the kind of cerimonial flair that the british bring to these things. >> they do. we see this sometimes when the queen welcomes world leaders here to state visits. there's a comparable show of the procession that will come up. so what we're going to see there is really unlike anything. it's going to be the longest procession through the streets of windsor we have seen in a very long time. >> you mentioned the extraordinary training and precision that goes into this. these horses actually have special training to prepare them for the crowds they're going to see and hear. i'm told they have ear must haves in their ear plugs and ears to help them cope with the noise of the crowd and what will be lovely to see is to see the groom in this household calvary. >> fans welcome here. household calvary coming down

and the new duke and duchess of sussex. >> there's a wonderful fusion here of significance of this matched with the rather charming small scale streets of windsor that are just sparkling today with the beautiful union side banners and, indeed, you may see at some point it's been made by the tiny busy hands of the school children of windsor and many other kids. so we're seeing a lovely uniting

of some rather handmade and very proper moments. estimates today that around about 120,000 people would amass in and around windsor and i have to say i think it's going to be in the final count many, many more thousands than that. windsor grey have done their job well. and there we get a glimpse of the bride and the groom. >> stay tuned for more of the royal wedding on bbc america.

>> so the carriage procession on the way to the heart of the town of windsor. it's always great for household calvary. so commanding officer commanding the traveling escort for the entire procession is the commanding officer of the cal vary since december of 2015. he is probably on the right-hand side as we look.

and then we have it yesterday about today's escort. and been with them since 2002. a couple of tours in afghanistan, i think, and i think he actually served in prince harry's troop. so lots of personal links here today. some of which are not so obvious but it's how much thought has gone into this procession as well. >> it's wonderful to see the calvary. there's another link between the commanding officer and harry. his sister, who is actually a bridesmaid at princess diana's wedding and his father trained the prince of wales as a young jockey so fantastic to see them

doing their thing. doing what they do best. that pomp and pageantry makes them feel very proud, doesn't it? >> they come past victoria barracks there. he was actually competing show jumping in front of the queen. interesting the victoria barracks was on the left there. they look modern but it's been there since the 18th century, the end of the 18th century. but of course much enlarged now and it's where they turn.

they rotate to change the guard at windsor castle and the whole procession coming down into king's road where i walked down there yesterday. everyone has been working very hard on their gardens and very hard on their bunting. you'll see a lot of stars and stripes as well which is a nice touch and canadian maple leaves as well. >> the common wealth is a big theme not only in the bride's wedding dress and her veil but she had every single flower of the common wealth. all 53 embroidered, which was a lovely touch. >> it's probably why the veil was so long. it's a very nice touch. in those days there was only 8 nations and today it has 53. 250 members of the armed forces serving today in various roles. lots of them with links to prince harry. the irish very prominent today because these irish guard versus been on duty and the band performing for us here at windsor castle and they have been hard at work all day as well.

lots of individual members and then different serving groups and regimens involved. >> people made a huge effort to decorate their homes. lots of them, indeed, we were just here two or three days ago and people were preparing at that point when the town was not so busy. time and aga people were talking about the weather and there's always a bit of a gamble in may. this has been a gamble that paid off very handsomely and now what we have seen on procession is just some of these streets before they'll get to the most spectacular part of all which is the long walk. we saw the car earlier speeding through. this will be a very differ experience and of course with

the household calvary in attendance providing the escort it's going to be one of the most memorable images of the day without any question. >> absolutely. a spectacular site. you mentioned a few glitches. i think the couple will be relieved. windsor could not look more stunning. this is exactly the picture of windsor of great britain that we want to be seeing at the moment, don't we? >> the queen's guard did say you could not have picked a better time than may for the wedding. it's at its absolute best and when the weather is like this it's going to be the most fabulous global picture. and as we can already see, people are on one side of the road, they're going to charge all the way across to the other into the park so they get a second look at the couple coming back the other way. these crowds, we were expecting big crowds but these have exceeded all expectations.

there's no room on the pavements for any more people. i would like to just at this point acknowledge those members of the armed forces. it's a pretty arduous duty on a day like today with temperatures so high. prince harry appointed commodore and chief by the queen a couple of years ago. taking over from the duke of edinburgh that held that title for 64 years so that's very much rich family heritage and the army air corps, we saw them on the steps of saint george's chapel early. first already mentioned and prince harry was appointed honorary in october 2008, a decade ago by the queen.

so just to underline they're all here for a reason, yes? it's not by accident. they're all here because they have a personal bond with prince harry today. >> prince harry talked about so movingly how his ten years serving in the armed forces changed him. >> stay tuned ed for more of t royal wedding.

>> just looking at them now, happy and taking in all the kind of enjoyment of the day and i think it's normal as well as we see them here, newly married couple, ready to embark on this fantastic journey back to windsor castle and the reception that will take place in a short while, a reception hosted by her

majesty the queen. and the kind of things they intend to do. what can we say with confidence already about what they want to achieve and the places they want to go to? >> as they made very clear in their interview, they do see their future very strongly within the common wealth. prince harry is going to be a common wealth youth ambassador. they turn there on to the long walk and the centerpiece of this procession and i think the common wealth, we've seen touches of it all through the service. it is an extremely important part of their lives. they should be traveling a lot through the common wealth. we don't know where the honeymoon is.

i put an awful lot on the fact that it will be somewhere in the common wealth and that's part of their future. >> they're literally going to hit the ground running and as soon as they're back from their honeymoon they're going to be doing quite a lot of travel. we think that's possibly a trip to dublin being considered and maybe the netherlands too and in the autumn a big common wealth tour to australia, the invictus games and reinvigorating the common wealth and what it means to young people will be high on their agenda. >> traveling escorts leading the carriage right along. the long walk which is in the heart of windsor grey park and this is the highlight of the reception. >> all 2.65 miles ahead of it. >> and the site of what i can only describe as the natural grace of the duchess of sussex.

and there she is. waving entirely which is quite something because this today is quite a crowd. >> at the end of this, the duchess maybe the second person to call her back. the carriage will go through and then they'll go to the reception after photographs. >> now the photographs are interesting. we know that alexi lubomirski, he usually takes pictures for vogue and big stars, beyonce, but today he'll be taking six official photographs of the royal party including all of those astonishingly well behaved flower girls and page boys that helped the royal couple on to the west steps of st. george's chapel today. crowd is made up of so many people.

21 degrees with a light breeze here in windsor and in 1981 it was a scorching 24 degrees. we're lucky today. >> the queen will host the reception at st. george's hall in windsor castle for the congregation. and the head chef of the royal household is mark flanagan. >> there's been a lot of chat about the cake. is it elderflower and lemon? we saw that on the instagram account of claire ptak, who is making the cake.

quite a moment. and meghan markle is somebody who is used to being composed. it's part of the job of an actress to perform but here this is a very different role. this is a woman who seems very natural. very connected. not acting her way through a huge event which she might have been expected to do but for every moment of the service and now she sits by her husband, she is beaming with a smile and taking in what is surely the

view of a lifetime. >> just take a moment as well just to talk about her entrance into the chapel. >> that was a remarkable thing and i think it takes a great al of self-possession and composure at aomenwhen maybe more than ever, in the days that lead up to this magnificent day she's had her troubles. the fact that her father was unable to come due to his health. she had to make a decision, how was she going to enter the chapel? how was she going to meet the man that was about to become her husband? and she chose to do it on her own with those 7-year-old twins holding her train. they did a good job of that and yet the composure that it took was quite something. but she had it. >> she did. and as the world watches windsor today, a worldwide audience of 1.9 maybe will be nudging 2 billion. the sun is out. not a cloud in the sky. and these people on the long

walk. some of who have been there since thursday. many of whom have come today in the train station. and then is the sight they have been waiting to see. the crowds come to an end on the long walk and then it is the private garden that the royal couple will move into. the cheers will be distant sound and they'll have a few moments to enjoy just each others company.

before they meet the 600 odd guests. a service like no other. royal wedding. >> and as the royal couple always -- tell you what that was like. right down the walk. >> i think they might well take a minute to congratulate each other on getting through what is essentially an intensely private moment under such scrutiny.

harry walked down st. george's chapel i did think he had the look of slightly nervous but not anymore. >> he's a very happy man. >> stay tuned for more of the royal wedding on bbc america.

these planes coming in, i can only imagine the pilot if you say if you look to your left and there's this unbelieven sale unfolding. i thought it was magical. you talked about her grace and how confident she felt. if you look back at all the film, she's always carried herself with dignity. but what stayed with me are her freckles. she used to talk about about biracial and being told to cover them. that was symbolic that today, i am meghan markle. you're looking at me and what a sight to behold. >> the moment the carriage procession came down, you guys know how to do weddings. >> definitely know how to do weddings. >> but not like this.

>> they were really just two people in love. you saw it so clearly. they just really, really love each other. >> we're going to talk to you a little bit more later but just briefly, your thoughts on the dress. >> absolutely stunning. nailed it. it was superb. this was absolutely as i said before the perfect fusion. >> it was refined wasn't it? >> it was appropriate for the location. >> it was exquisite. just superb. >> let's go to anita. >> how was that? >> incredible. sensational. meghan looked beautiful. the gospel choir were on form. it's probably the best wedding i have ever been to.

>>hat was the emotion like? of course. and you can feel the electricity in the air and i have no skill when it comes to singing whatsoever. >> but you have all the rugby skills so we forgive you. now all royal weddings are a moment in history. >> obviously for a number of levels but i think more than anything else, the reverend's address, i think the world's in a bit of turmoil at the moment. it cut through that and it was to celebrate harry and meghan's day but talk about loving people more. that we should be more accepting and i think it was amazing and i think it will go down in history for a long time. >> i think you're absolutely amazing. you look very smart james. i'll let you go. you have a lovely lunch to get to. >> we could do half an hour on the bishop's address couldn't we? >> yeah, that might be a whole other program. but it has been a terribly

exciting, i was going to say exhausting day but exhilarating day. how are they feeling in los angeles where they is been up all night watching? >> well, the sun is rising here in los angeles and in santa monica. it's been fascinating joining this viewing party and just watching them watch their hometown girl join the british royal family 5,500 miles away. it wasn't just that you could see the emotion. the chapel cheers as you'd expect as we saw the dress for the first time. the perfective of being a brit here watching this you just got an absolute sense of the impact that this is having globally.

your afternoon there is just beginning. our long night is over and it's time for bed here but i'll leave you with this comment as i was watching the service, there was a girl sitting next to me who lent over to her friend and whispered to her, this marriage is going to change the world and i think that is the feeling of the people who have watched it here in los angeles. >> richard, thank you so much. >> stay tuned for more of the royal wedding. mom, dad, can we talk?

>> we know cake is not your traditional cake. lemon and elder flower. they've start eed bringing thei own sparkling wine. the queen is serving it for the first time at the commonwealth summit, so they could be having the queen's own wine. it went down extremely well. they make their own ice cream here. so it's going to be home ingredients. >> well, the kitchens here have been cooking for something like 800 years with a bit of modernization in between so just in terms of what's happening at lunch and the private reception this evening which does involved a reduce number of people and that's been the source of commentary. >> very intimate. only 200 people make it on to that very elite list. we'll have speeches from the queen and possibly from the prince of wales tonight and it's very under wraps.

you can read all about it in the sunday times tomorrow. >> still lots of very impressive military going on. the royal marines making their way through the senor of windsor and what i'd like to do now really quickly is just ask for the highlights of the day because to be fair, you know, we have a choice. in terms of you know, not just the arrival of the bride and the emergence of the dress but there were several special moments. so what's the highlights? >> the music. the music in the chapel. monarchy is all about bridging the past with the present and it was a glorious fusion there. it just brought past and present together beautifully. >> to me, it's seeing meghan incredibly composed walking herself up the aisle. she looked radiant. that dress was sensational but also i think charles and william had giggles at some point. the sense of humor in the chapel

was fabulous. >> it's been great. thank you for enjoying the events with us. thank you very much indeed and with that let's join them again. >> it's been an incredible procession. we saw the marines there, the irish guard, which leads us to our favorite moment, the highlights. meredith and joe and i imagine -- >> well, you know, the dress, the dress, the dress. it was absolutely worth the wait and the surprise. it was pure class. that's the word, isn't it? >> and the veil. >> that was beautiful and the veil with symbolism. that was a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. >> and with meghan it's totally considered and it's like a world

view and really thinking about everything. i don't think that the actual designer, the fact that she is the first female artistic director of givenchy i don't think that's an accident. i think she considered all of those elements when she made the decision. >> i also love watching her mom doria that's the only family member that was here for meghan and this has to be for her an incredible whirlwind and she has hawaiian -- maintained the same dignity and class as her daughter. >> given the amount of -- i'm sure it's background noise to a degree, but the amount of press and media speculation, a lot of it, much of it not good that's happened around her family, for her to be there and be the person she is and conduct herself in the way she has always conducted herself but to do it under the spotlight is quite something. >> absolutely and for all the things that happened over the past week, meghan markle said in the past her dad was such an important part of her life growing up so i'm sorry. i'm really saddened that he couldn't be here for this moment. >> there was a beautiful tender moment though when meghan was walked down by the prince of wales and prince harry mouthed very quitely, thank you.

let's go over now. >> gorgeous. you guys like sensational. how was that experience? >> extraordinary. we when out to go to the loo and we came back in and there wasn't a seat in the house so we were going to put me on one side and then there's two seats over there. where? right at the front. >> i saw you. >> it was like pot kettle black. >> what were the high likes for you? >> well, apart from the seat which was obviously amazing, it was, i mean the choir was incredible. it was seamless. it was amazing. the people that, everyone was so

friendly. so relaxed. everyone was laughing and joking. it was warm. it was just a room full of happiness and it was incredible. the whole, the entire wedding was just magical. absolutely magical. >> i think that happiness is seeping out of the walls of the chapel and everyone's televisions as well. >> we've been talking about the magnificent music. >> the fannic voice of ellen. we know each other pretty well. we're all friends. how was it for you? >> very exciting. >> got the call in the middle of march. a little bit but i thought what a perfect thing to walk into a wedding too. i have sung it at one other wedding but it's such a special event all around. it's been a really beautiful day.

>> lovely atmosphere. i am wondering what is the challenge of performing on this kind of stage, does it make a difference? >> yeah, the biggest stress is how fast you're going to walk because of course it's all down to its her moment and you don't want to be too fast. you don't want to arrive three minutes and you don't want to miss getting there. there's been so much planning. the rehearsal was like a tightly woven embroidery. i saw prince harry at the start. he said good luck. i said more good luck to you. and everyone just seems very happy to be there. it seemed like a true celebration all day long. >> you can tell us now who you were most thrilled to meet today. >> i met george clooney. >> that's very honest of you.

>> it really was that kind of emotional ceremony where i think whatever age you are, where ever you come from you really reached out. we have the kids from st. george's school that watched me just behind it on the grass here. you have come all the way and i know for you standing here listening to that ceremony worth the wait. >> worth the travel, worth the pressure of getting here. it was amazing. an amazing day. >> well, may i say you look absolutely fantastic. >> thank you. >> what's so special. >> just being able to be here. the atmosphere when the royals passed they acknowledged us on the way past.

your god with all your heart, with all your strength and this is the first. and the second is like it, love your neighbor like yourself. and then in matthews he added on these two love of god, love of neighbor, hang all the law, all the prophets, everything that moses wrote, everything in the scriptures, everything that god has been trying to tell the world, love god, love your neighbors and while you're at it, love yourself. now, someone once said that jesus ban the most revolutionary movement in all of history, a movement grounded in the unconditional love of god for the world, and a movement mandating people to live that love and in so doing, to change

not only their lives, but the very life of the world itself. i'm talking about some power, real power, power to change the world. if you don't believe me, well, there is some old slaves in america antebellum south who explained the dynamic power of love and why it has the power to transform. they explained it this way, they sang a spiritual even if the mist of their captivity, then it's a balm in gilead, a healing balm, there is a balm in gilead to make the wonning whole. there is a balm in gilead to heal the soul. they said, if you can't no preach like peter and you cannot

national anthem being played for the new couple to make their way through the lower ward and go up towards the great round area of the windsor and waving to the 2,000 or more people who were especially invited in this lovely event today, and of course watched keenly by smiling members of the royal family. here today after a month after some surgery on his hips, he was very pleased he was able to make it for this event. look at the waves and the smile. really, rob, the relief. >> yes, the relief here, it's great to see the royal family standing by the side of the road waving. >> absolutely, just such amazing and lovely scenes. to see themming to, and this is of course is the start of that really wonderful pageantry we're going to see with the the else escort at the house and cavalry. this is going to be shortly, the

last time that members outside the castle walls that definitely move 100,000 estimated come out to see them, get a chance to see the new duke and duchess for the first time. what a lovely sight that will be. and the roars they'll hear when they come out and it will be amazing. >> they'll go into the eastern end of the castle where they'll disappear for a few moments and i expect the queen will be leaving. mother leaving the chapel itself. she's the mother of the bride. that's been for her a pretty intense and emotional moment. >> extraordinary, she looked remarkably exposed the whole way

through. >> very soon the queen will be leaving and the national anthem will be played to signal the queen's departure. ♪ ♪

>> queen making her way back to the eastern end of the castle. that's where her majesty's private apartments are, that's where she spends so much of her time. that's where of course, we get the sense of the fact that she loves windsor probably more than anywhere else and who can disagree with that, given the fact that it is a place that is a thousand years of royal history attached to it. but, here we are, the wonderful carriage procession and the way the young couple preparing to greet the crowds on the streets of windsor. >> we're seeing over to the right, the largest over very large royal standards, this biggest one that come out today, it's almost a hazard in traffic it's so big. >> such wonderful scenes, these are of course the his or hers from the muse with the charj.

shortly they'll be joined by the -- it'll be so lovely to see the interaction between harry and meghan there. they'll be seeing the crowds for first time that's gader gathere to see them. >> the windsor gray his orses, ones selected for today, everything has been prepared in great detail for this procession. lasted probably part of half an hour, every inch of this procession has been planned. you're going to see something, not just the color, the style or pageantry, it's going to be a obsessive show for the world to see. the kind of ceremonial flare that the british bring to these thing. >> they do, we see oh kags like this when the queen welcomes world leaders here for state visits. it's a show as the procession

come up to the castle. we're going to see it's really like anything. the longest procession through the streets of windsor we've seen in a very long time. >> and the emotion of the procession that goes into this. these horses have had special training to cope and prepare them for the crowds they're going to see and hear. i'm hold they have earmuffs and ear plugs in their ears to help them cope with the clouds. it will be love for for us to see, and that's the see the groom and his house hole cavalry uniform. think that will make him feel especial proud to be escorting. >> passing victoria monument down castle hills to raptures of fans welcome here. such a good welcome. >> it really is quite a sight

indeed. and there is a wonderful fusion here of significant with this pageantry, matched with the rather charming small scale streets of windsor, which are just sparkling today with these beautiful union flag banners and indeed you may see at some point in the procession routes there's a thousand missiles made by different hands by the school children of windsor. we're seeing a lovely uniting of some rather handmade cattle movements and some very proper british movements. estimates today that are round about 120,000 people with a mass in and near windsor. i have to say, i think it's going to be in the final count many many more thousands than

that. the windsor braves do their job well not being put off by the cheers and the waving of the flags. and there we get a glimpse of the bride and the groom.

so, the carriage proseg on its way through the heart of the town of windsor. the traveling escort, it's always a great sight. the house of cavalry are so impressive on all occasions. we have two offers and 24 soldiers involve in the traveling escort. commanding officer, nathaniel james gazely. commanding traveling escort for the entire procession, the commanding officer since december of 2015. he's riding very near the carriage and he probably on the right-hand side as we look. that's james gazely. then we have frank o'leary, we spoke to frank yesterday about today's escort duties, he said

on several tours and he's been on several tours abroad with the life guards since 2002. and i think he served as a radio operator in prince harry's troops. lot of personal links here. it's underlining how much thought has gone into this procession as well. >> absolutely. it's wonderful to see the men dressed, there's actually here a lovely personal link between the commanding officer james gazely and harry. his sister was actually a bridesmaid a charles and dan's wedding. and -- as a young duck key, so wonderful personal link there, fantastic to see them doing their thing, doing what they do best. makes us feel very proud, doesn't it? >> certainly does as they come

past victoria barber rets there -- ber rets there. the victoria berets on the left there look quite modern, there's been berets there i think since the 18th century, much enlarged now. it's where lots of -- in term and yes, they take the turn. take to change the guard to windsor tunnel. the procession coming down the street enters prince royals. everyone's been working very hard on their garrisms aents an bunting. canadians certainly working to prim the bride as well.

>> the common well-wwealth was big theme. the bride had every single flower of the commonwealth, all 53 em broided on to her veil which was a lovely touch. >> probably was the veil was so long. it was a very nice touch, it was a queen's combination gunshot wound. >> so, 250 members of the armed forces serving today in various ceremonial roles. lots of them with links to prince harry. the irish guards very prominent today. these irish guards have been on duty and have the wonderful positions of the irish guards as well performing. so, lots of individual members and then different serving groups of regiments involved to all of them selected for their

links. >> all services involved people have made a huge effort to decorate their homes. lots of them indeed, two or three days ago, i think they were preparing at that point when the town was not so busy, but they determined to have a great day. time again, people were talking about the weather and there's always a bit of gamble in there. this is the gamble, its paid off hand solemnly. now we've seen in the procession completing where some of these streets -- before it was a bit chilly, you get to the most spectacular part of all which is the long walk through windsor great park. we saw the car earlier speeding through. this would be a very different experience. and of course with the house attendants providing the escort, it's good to be one of memorable

images of the day without question. >> absolutely. i think it was mentioned a few glitches, i think the couple will be extremely relieved with the weather, windsor could not look for stunning. this is the picture of windsor great britain that we want to be seeing. >> could not picked a better time than may. it is absolutely best, when the weather's like this, it is going to be the most fabulous global picture of britain. as we can already see people on one side of the road, they're going to charge they're way across to the other into the park so they get a second look of the couple coming back the other way. but these crowds, they're all expecting big crowds but i think they're exceeding, there's absolutely no more room on the pavement for people. >> working hard in windsor, let's give them the credit they're due. i would like at this point just

to acknowledge those members of the armed fors color street lining because that is a hard duty on a day like today when the temperature is so high. prince harry appointed chief in small ships and diving by the queen a couple years ago. terry was appointed captain general of marines in december of last year, taking over from the duke who had that cycle for 64 years. that's very much rich family heritage. and the army, they are taking part today, the rifles, we saw two offers by the way on the steps of the chapel earlier open the doors for some of the cars arriving. first guards i already mentioned them and prince harry was appointed honorary a decade ago

by the queen. they're all here for a reason, it's not by accident. they're all here because they have a personal bond with print harry today. >> prince harry has often talked so so movingly about how his ten years serving in the armed forces shaped him.

just looking at them now, happy and taking it all the kind of enjoyment of the day. i think it's normal as well at this point, as we see them here, newly married couple ready to adopt on this fantastic journey back to windsor castle to a reception that takes place in a little while. but, as we look at them now, just a thought for both of you two, about the kind of lives that they plan to lead. the kind of thing they plan to

do. what can we say with confidence already about what they want to achieve and the kind of places they want to go to. >> as they made very clear in their interview when they were engaged, they see their future in the commonwealth. prince harry's going to be a commonwealth youth as an ambassador. i think the commonwealth, we've seen touches of it all throughout service, it's going to be an extremely important part of their lives. i think -- the honeymoon is and an awful lot of the fact it's going to be -- and that is definitely part of their future. >> we know as well they are going to hit the ground running. while they're soon they're back from their honeymoon, they're going to be doing quite a lot of travel, we think there's possibly a trip to dublin, maybe considering the netherlands too. in autumn they'll embark to us

tra australia, possibly to fiji and new zealand. >> traveling escorts leading the carriage right along. the along walk which is in the heart of windsor great park. this really is the highlight of this procession. >> it really is. that we can see all 2.65 miles of it is pretty spectacular. that area, look at that. >> and in the sight of what i can only describe is the natural grace of the duchess, she sits in this open lom bow with the youthful windsor grace. there she is, waving entirely, it seems at whole it is quite something, because this today is

quite a crowd. >> at the end of this they'll go the cambridge gate, we saw early on, the duchess will be the second person to pull -- the carriage goes through and reach the -- they'll then go to the reception after photographs. >> now the photographs are interesting. we alesci we spoke to yesterday, he usually takes pictures of stars, beyonce, today he'll take six photos of the flower girls and boys who helped the royal couple on to the west steps of st. george's capital today. the crowd made up of so many people who has come out. we reckon it's 21 degrees with a

light wind. we're lucky to do, a very decent 21. >> i imagine they have some sort of appetite. and the queen of jorja capital and the congregation, the high chef of the royal house, maybe focus on the food will be in season. for the most part, food -- garden of england of course. >> and then there's the cake. there's been a lot of chat about the cake. the cake is its elder flower, is it lemon. >> it is. >> we saw a beautiful lemon. >> at the top. >> great big plates of lemons on the instagram accounts. there we have waving. is it just me or is the cheers getting louder. meghan markle of course is somebody who has used to be

exposed, it's part of the job of an actress to perform that. here this is a very different role. this is a woman who seems natural and connected, not acting her way through a huge event which she might have been easily expected to do. but for every moment of the service she sits by her husband, she is beaming with a smile and taking in what is surely the view of a lifetime. >> we take a moment as well, just to talk about her entrance into the chapel when she was on her own, that was quite something wasn't it? >> that was a remarkable scene. i think it takes a great deal of self-position acomposure when yu want a man to lean on. the fact that her father was

unable to come due to his health meant that she had to make the decision, how was she going to enter the chapel. how was she going to meet the man who was about to become her husband, she chose to do it on her own with these 7-year-old twins holding her train, they did a good job of that. and the composure was something, but she had it. >> she did. >> as the world watches windsor today, we reckon a worldwide audience of 1.2, maybe $2 billion, i think britain's showing its face. the sun is out, not a cloud in the sky. these people of course on the long walk, some of them have been there since thursday. many of whom have come today into the stag and this is the sight they've been waiting to see.

the crowd's come to an end on the long walk and then it is the private garden that the royal couple will move into. the tears will be -- cheers will be a distan sound and they'll have a few moments to enjoy each other's company before it's time for photos and it's time to great the 600 or more guests. we witnessed a service like no other. royal wedding. >> and as the royal company always make their way through the cambridge gate let's see what the atmosphere is like

right down in the long walk with alex. >> and well she might take a moment down -- >> absolutely. i think that might -- who knows what they're saying between each other, which is a private moment -- but who knows what they're saying to each other.

as harry walked down just after 11:00 i think he had a nervousness about him but not anymore. a smile has broughtway wi away confidence, he's got his gal. >> a very happy moment.

. and the role of the military today is so personal to harry as we know he's seen two tours of afghanistan, 250 member of the armed services. -- what a shot. somebody's been out with the -- >> for the last week. day in day out. >> a beautiful scene. well, the young -- >> no he didn't. >> the couples' horse. >> and so the household cavalry

can be part of this, well, as they always do, they did their best for a splendid parade around windsor. it's been a treat for every single person who came along and wavered their flag to see the royal couple. the duke and did yuchess of sus. >> well, everybody here, thousands of people on the long walk, we're waiting for the procession. absolutely perfect. we have cried all the tears. oh, my gosh there was a collect awe when harry lifted the veil. >> the look of love between them. >> the kiss. >> the look of love for me. couldn't take his eyes off her. >> it was a moment for you. >> it was terrifying for me. >> you loss your harry. >> i lost miharary.

>> and you -- >> i'm very hurt about it but it was a beautiful situation. >> it may be the last royal wedding for a long time but it was absolutely perfect. now a spot check and a g--

levels is a signal of change. and when you look at the diversity of the audience, when you look at the range of people, of different backgrounds, representing all kinds of corners of society in that congregation, when you look at the range of music because the music culturally says many different things, i just thought, that in itself was a major statement and then, of

course, the bride and what she symbolizes and the way she did things in her own way today which i thought was hugely impressive, very dignified. bride's mother too, by the way, i thought she handled herself incredibly impress blably. for all of those reasons, it was way beyond the kind of royal event we cover. 2011 was a major wedding. you know, william and kate, it was a fantastic day but there was a formality to it which was really authoritative on the day and today, it was different and i think obviously now, it's a reflection of the fact that people have picked up on this. there was a lack of formality and that's been seen to be a good thing. in the past, the royal family would have seen that as undesirable but today, it seems to be a good thing and that's why the celebration is still going on.

got. and there, we look at james blunt and what an absolutely spectacular outfit she is wearing. we know she's a friend of harry's. her friend. >> this is the scene for you. inside this wonderful chapel with some guests before the service gets under way, some 600 people in this congregation representing friends and family in many cases and there we have the lower ward of windsor castle. people gathering in the sunshine of may for this lovely day, this very happy day and it couldn't be better weather. it really couldn't be and i think they are in for more detail later on to the kind of service we can be looking forward to because i can tell you one thing now, without

giving away too many secrets. the music in today's service is absolutely sublime. >> prince george's chapel and probably one of the biggest names. george and amal clooney and the beckhams too. so this is the celebrity minutes. >> donny wilkinson and his wife with a lovely bump under her beautiful lace dress. >> a pretty prominent face in the choir opposite where the royal family is sitting. >> there is elton john. and david.

james and his wife june. james is now a big star in america, of "carpool karaoke." he's done well. these are some of them. they are done up. >> quite a recipe we look at there. >> style looking utterly splendid. see serena williams, one of the greatest tennis players to grace the court and returned to the court after giving birth to her first child. >> now we have some members of the royal family who are making their way and pace down towards st. george's chapel.

peter and his wife, of course, married at george's windsor and sacza zara phillips and expecting a child. >> inside that car is the bride to be. miss meghan markle and her mother, doria. both looking remarkably elegant and composed and we will, i think, see a glimpse of the bride. the world is waiting 1.9 billion views around the world. we see she's wearing a veil but for now, not much more than that and moving at a stately pace. and now we look at the groom and his best man.

and what a welcome they are gathered. doing so much. and only recently and left it not quite until the last minute but wasn't a given. >> wasn't a tradition, until recently these two. >> and we learned less than an hour ago we'll see prince harry today on a wedding ring and that is a new precedent that's been set. waving to the crowds and this is really what they've been waiting for. we know that prince harry said and i wondered the romantic piece of phrasing that when he fell for meghan markle. the stars were aligned. >> the two brothers mounting the west door of the george's chapel windsor look at the amazing

display of flowers and foliage that's been created around this great and the dean of windsor, david connor, who's in charge of this service today, reflecting st. george's chapel. this is not under the jurisdiction of the kacanterbur but the queen. that's the official title for st. george's chapel. david connor, the dean, answerable to the queen, not the archbishop at canterbury and reflects this chapel within windsor and the ancient college of windsor and the fact that this chapel has many, many centuries of royal tradition attached to it. interesting too that today, when there was a bit of a choice, prince harry has opted to wear the frock coat uniform of the blues and royals, reflecting, of course, his army heritage. he does have more senior ranks,

and more senior uniforms, but that tells you something about where he felt most comfortable today. this is a magnificent. >> you are looking there. and it is fabulous. they've been cutting out the barriers and expecting 100,000 people. i wouldn't be surprised if it was more. 10 deep, 30 deep. going back to the tree line there. >> let's be very clear. this is a big drive. yes, it's a big drive and heading back towards the castle there. and the next time we see, meghan will be where she arrives at the west door and there waiting for her in the choir will be her future husband, prince harry, the best man, of course, duke of cambridge. just exchanging a few words of advice and look slightly

nervously but then completely understand that.

this one for those of you on the cards, this is bringing the prince of wales and the duchess of cornwall to the galilee porch. not the south entrance. it's a different entrance used by members of the royal family and they will be making their way in directly into the choir and into the store and later on, the prince of wales making his way down to the center of st. george's chapel to wait for the bride as she enters just at the stroke of midday. just five minutes away from the staff of the wedding service with prince harry and meghan markle and of course, her majesty the queen and the duke of edinborough.

>> we just caught a glimpse of what looks like a fabric and the bride is wearing a soft white and they're departing around the castle to join their guests. more than 600 were at st. george's chapel but this evening, it will just be close friends and family and i think on that license plate, can you make out what that is? 1905, 18. terrific. so they'll have the evening reception and get ready, my friend. prince harry and meghan will return where they will spend the night. >> they look well understandably. delighted to be with each other.

delighted to be in the windsor sunshine and the bride here, again, up but more on this time. and the dress she's wearing, a halter neck. i think that dress is going to be on the dance floor for summer into the wee small hours of morning. but in the home part of windsor castle. and that's a private area and the last wedding with the reception venue for the wedding, and that was phillips and kelly back in 2008. having a little bit for just a few precious days every year. and they are open to the public. and for this young couple enjoying what is a rather balmy evening and kick their heels off with close friends and family.
