very short time since that appalling attack on a nightclub in turkey on new year's eve, in istanbul, that killed 39 people and injured many more. clearly, details coming through from turkey or the time and we will keep you up to date with that. let's get more now on brexit, specifically the appointment of sir tim barrow as the uk's new ambassador to the eu. the chancellor philip hammond has been speaking to sky news arabia on a trip to abu dhabi. he said the out—going ambassador, sir ivan rogers had done a good job, but had chosen to resign because of the timing of brexit negotiations. he was coming to the end of his tenure, coming up to his retirement later this year, and he has taken the decision that he should go early and allow somebody else to take over

we could not believe this was happening right in front of us. he was hanging down below the chair lift a good couple of feet. we were all very concerned, not only that he would drop, but that perhaps his backpack could be strangling him. they grabbed a very long ladder and brought it up to the lifts and leaned it against the chairlift. 0ne individual climbed up. that ski patrol guy is strong to pull him like that. when we saw him being lifted up onto that chair, we were all ecstatic. superhero! i was amazed that he was able to

in but a number of people wounded. it would seem this is an explosion outside or very close to a courthouse. a lot of tension in turkey in the light of the attack on a nightclub on new year's eve. we will keep an eye on that. a number of emergency vehicles and ambulances at the scene according to eyewitnesses. four teenage boys from cumbria have been arrested on suspicion of raping a 15—year—old girl. the alleged incident happened in workington two days ago. 0ur correspondent fiona trott has been following the story for us. this investigation has attracted a lot of attention because of the ages of the boys who were arrested overnight. three of them just 13 yea rs overnight. three of them just 13 years old, one of them 1a years old. cumbria police have told us that a 15—year—old girl was walking along a road in workington on tuesday evening near the local council

apple's stores. until recently that was available but now we are hearing that has been pulled. the reasons aren't exactly clear. apple have said they were asked to remove the application because it violated some rules and conditions in china but what rules were violated, that is still not known. how much can the new york times or other companies that face this situation in china, how much can they do about it? it is not hugely surprising that google, youtube, it is very difficult to access in china. our other sites likely to follow? if you look at a lot of the biggest names in technology. american companies. google, for example, would like access to china, doesn't really have it. facebook have made it clear they would like access to the chinese market. mark zuckerberg has invested a lot of time in the country,

speaking mandarin, but has not been able to secure the kind of access that facebook would like there. it is rumoured, and very much a rumour, that facebook has been developing softwa re that facebook has been developing software that could censor some content that would violate chinese rules. i think that is the concern. at what cost can these american technology companies operate in china. linked in does operate in china. linked in does operate in china. that is something that raised eyebrows at amnesty international, who are concerned about this. and in the case of apple, it was not that long ago that the company was involved in a dispute over privacy and rights with the us government over the contents of a phone that belonged to a government official. there is a sense they are applying one rule in the us and a different rule in china, which is the company's rule in china, which is the compa ny‘s third rule in china, which is the company's third biggest market. thank you. that is all the business news for
