are you saying that netanyahu. are you saying that behind—the—scenes things are more fluid? i was not in the meeting and interestingly they decided not to have a press conference afterwards, they just put have a press conference afterwards, theyjust put out a statement which is kind of unusual. i think a sign that neither of them wanted to face awkward questions. a spokeswoman for theresa may said the objection to settle m e nts theresa may said the objection to settlements was that they undermine trust, the reality is there is no trust, the reality is there is no trust between the israelis and palestinians on these particular issues. and there is a pretty strong international consensus that the growth of settlements is doing more than anything else to reduce the chances of the so—called two state solution. palestinian state alongside israel. now of course they wa nt alongside israel. now of course they want the visit to go well, the uk needs more trading partners because of brexit. and israel has a very strong high—tech economy so you can see why they want it all to go well and perhaps they did not really
6:46 pm
speak out particularly loudly about these things. the fact is i think these things. the fact is i think the uk appears to be changing its emphasis on this stuff. but that could be a source of tension further down the line. notjust for the two state solution option but also because british policy might not marry with the policy of donald trump. yes and i think if we slavishly follow president trump who goes about like a gadfly at the moment, then they will always be chasing him and it will be difficult. but the fact is, mr netanyahu difficult. but the fact is, mr neta nyahu is difficult. but the fact is, mr netanyahu is on record saying he supports the two state solution. but without going into a great deal of detail about what that would be, what the palestinian state would be and what the borders would be. but the fact is the actions that he ta kes, the fact is the actions that he takes, i think it is quite clear,
6:47 pm
there are designed to stop that happening or at least put it back so far down the road that it does not happen. he's not just far down the road that it does not happen. he's notjust a paragon of the right wing in israel but opposes that kind of thing anyway, he's under a lot of pressure on his right to try to be tougher on the palestinians of. so i think the policy for many years has been just to try to kick the can down the road and paper time. he also wants to be tough on the iranians are to their ballistic missile test a few days ago. donald trump said the iranians are on notice, it is not clear exactly what that means. but netanyahu exactly what that means. but neta nyahu talking to exactly what that means. but netanyahu talking to theresa may today, is he hoping that she is going to go beyond whatever may be contained within the details of the nuclear deal, and actually force on the message is that what the iranians are doing is out of order?
6:48 pm
the nuclear deal was very important because it stopped what seem to be an inevitable slide towards war of the iranian nuclear plans. the uk is a permanent member of the security council, one of five. and so it is very important in terms of an international response to what goes on with iran but that nuclear deal was deliberately very narrowly cast. so it does not touch any of the other activities that iran may or may not be getting up to. many thanks. president trump is in tampa, let's hear what he has to say. president trump is in tampa, let's hear what he has to saylj president trump is in tampa, let's hear what he has to say. i want to thank you for your tremendous spirit. you like me and i like you, that is

days. we need strong programmes so that people that love us and want to love our country... president trump they're addressing some of the military in tampa in florida. they are at the end just before we faded it down, going on to defend his travel ban. he said isis will be defeated, we will defeat you, he said, we will beat radical islamic terrorism. a little before that he also said we strongly support nato. remember he did say few weeks ago that nato was obsolete but now he says they strongly support that but a number of countries have not been paying theirfair share. and a number of countries have not been paying their fair share. and that had to change. he said we will be defending our nation to the hilt. more on that coming up but mile time —— now time to look for the weather.
