as england‘s test captain. our sports correspondent joe wilson spent some time with him earlier today. every captain knows the ultimate direction, it is when, not if the end comes. alastair cook told me he was managing his emotions but lists the response abilities he‘s leaving behind. he doesn‘tjust toss the coin, he must be the on field tactician, diplomat, media politician and in kirke‘s case, the team‘s most dependable batsman. i wondered if he was relieved to give it up. i don't know if i'm relieved, something in me knows that thisjob is 100% or nothing. looking in the mirror, knowing i couldn‘t do it was tough. but i‘ve been very proud of what i‘ve achieved, a lot of people to thank and most importantly my
