1—dayers and this year we've played many 1—dayers and this year we've played ma ny test 1—dayers and this year we've played many test matches. i did well today and it gives me great satisfaction and it gives me great satisfaction and gives me immense confidence to realise i'm suitable for both formats, and that helps me build a great amount of confidence that i'm good enough for the longer version and that i can play for a long period of time. and if you're talking about by bowling, this shoulder is in auto mode, it's happening all on its own. —— my bowling. you could hear a pin drop in the dressing room, very disappointing day. there's always a chance until the final ball is bowled. but, yeah, it's a hard day—to—day. the boys will be pretty down and they are pretty down but i'll give them a good crack in the morning, you never know, but it's a tough ask. new zealand have moved along to 402-6 new zealand have moved along to 402—6 after lunch on day four of the

the evidence that we have suggests that cricket exists in a bubble and we've got to get outside this bubble, to be relevant to the broader consumer, and actually say, look, cricket fans, we have the ability to make that proportion of cricket fans that care about our sport much, much bigger than what it is now. we need to be more open, we need to be more representative, and we need to connect more with more people. this is how the new tournament may look. from 2020 there'll be eight teams, as yet unnamed, based around regions instead of counties. each will field a squad of 15 players, including three from overseas, and in a crowded schedule the competition will consist of 36 games over the 38 days, building towards a final. the counties, meanwhile, are preparing for the new season. yorkshire taking on lancashire in a friendly this week in the warmth of dubai. these two clubs know they'll at least host matches of the new tournament at their grounds. others, however, will miss out. i think they might be quite disappointed that they've not got a franchise,

say it is one of the smaller grounds, but on the other hand, i think i'll be getting quite a hefty severance package anyway, so at the end of the day they can grow their game. tomorrow, here at lord's, the ecb's board will formally begin the process of changing their own rules to allow this tournament, with final ratification possible as early as next month. such is the sensitivity around it, the counties have been told not to comment at this stage, but some traditionalists are concerned that it could do lasting damage to the status of the existing county competitions. not at all. i think what we're doing here is future proofing county cricket for the future. cricket has been a sport which has always had the ability to evolve, to actually innovate and change where its needed to. with most of the counties struggling financially, resistance has been eased by the promise of more than £1 million per season to each in extra revenue. the ecb says this is the biggest project it's ever undertaken, but it's also a gamble that will change the cricketing

summerforever. dan roan, bbc news. monday's friendly international between senegal and ivory coast in paris was abandoned because of crowd trouble. several supporters caused problems in the stands, but some invaded the pitch and one of them rugby tackled senegal‘s lamine gassama when the score was level at 1—1. sadio mane had given senegal the lead from the penalty spot midway through the second—half, with cyriac equalising for ivory coast two minutes later. but the french referee halted the game with two minutes to go. in nfl news, the oakland raiders will locate to las vegas and start playing games in a new $1.7 billion stadium sometime in 2019 or the following year. the announcement was made just hours ago and means two professional sporting teams will feature in the city, with nhl franchise the golden knights set to compete in the next season starting later this year. the raiders will continue to play at the oakland coliseum

until the move and to make it a reality, the team needed support from at least 2a of the 32 club owners. it follows the st louis rams' return to los angeles in january 2016, and the san diego chargers' move to los angeles at the beginning of this year. my my father used to say that the greatness of the raiders is in its future, and the opportunity to build a world—class stadium in the entertainment capital of the world is one opportunity that will give us the ability to achieve that greatness. i have mixed feelings obviously, i love oakland, i love the fans in oakland, and we know that there's going to be disappointment and maybe some anger. and ijust hope that in the future as we play in oakland this year that we understand it wasn't the players, it wasn't the coaches that made this decision, but it was me that made it and if they have anyone to talk to about it, it should be made and i will in the coming days try to

after a glorious weekend, glorious start to the week, things are set to turn more unsettled now as we continue to head through the week. that's because we've got this area of low pressure out in the atlantic slowly encroaching in, it will be bringing increasing cloud, outbreaks of rain and increasing wind as well. meanwhile, high pressure remains anchored across the near continent. this feature will be bringing some showers into the south—west corner of the country during the course of the night. and i think generally it will be a cloudy and night to come for most, certainly central and northern areas, a bit of mist down the east coast there. so as a result, not quite as cool by the time we reach first thing on tuesday morning. could see the odd pocket of frost, though, across the north—west corner of scotland. that's because skies will remain clear here. so we've got showers from the word go across the south—west for tuesday morning. a bit of sunshine through the midlands and the south—east. more in the way of cloud across northern areas but a line of showers will continue to northwards and eastwards as the afternoon wears on, some of them could pep up to be quite heavy.
1:56 am
a cloudier day i think for much of scotland than what we've seen of late through the afternoon. probably the best of any sunshine across this sheltered north—west highlands corner, where we could see some pretty decent temperatures. but a cooler feel to things. some rain getting into awards dumfries and galloway. for northern ireland, scattered showers, some sunshine. some of the showers could be heavy with a rumble of thunder, and that's also the case for much of northern england and in towards the midlands. but there will be some good sunny spells through the midlands eastwards and that really will boost temperatures again, up to 18—20 celsius. the breeze, though, more of a feature across the south—west. and we'll also see another weather front moving in, and that'll herald more persistent rain, which will spill its way northwards and eastwards during the course of tuesday night into wednesday. so actually wednesday day is looking pretty cloudy, quite a damp one with outbreaks of rain. most of it across the north and the west of the country, the odd heavy burst mixed in, it will feel cooler as well. we'll still make 15 or 16 celsius across the south—east given some brightness. so, we're into a more unsettled regime midweek onwards.
1:57 am
as you can see, tighter packed isobars, more of a breeze, outbreaks of rain, and most of this across northern and western areas closer to this area of low pressure. this warm front, though, will be moving its way northwards and in fact will let us tap into some warmth across the near continent for thursday. so east anglia and the south—east, given some sunshine, could have a really warm day and potentially the warmest day of the year so far. 18—20, maybe 21 degrees. but further north and west, it'll be cooler, breezier, without breaks of rain. then through friday, that weather front spreads its way northwards and behind it is a regime of sunshine and showers and it'll feel cooler for all. and that cooler theme continues on into the weekend. welcome to bbc news, broadcasting to our viewers in north america and around the globe. i'm reged ahmad. our top stories: cyclone debbie batters north—eastern australia. parts of queensland are in lockdown as the monster storm brings destructive winds and tidal surges. iraqi forces fight their way deeper into the city of mosul amid more concerns about civilian casualties.
