between russia and the united states. two people have died after a fire at a residential care home in hertfordshire. more than 30 other people had to be rescued, at the new grange care home in cheshunt. andy moore's there now. andy, bring us up to date with the latest. well, firefighters were called here at ten to six this morning to find a fierce blaze raging in the roof space from end to end of this care home. the residents are elderly and infirm, many are wheelchair users. they had to be rescued by the firefighters. they we re rescued by the firefighters. they were carried down ladders and then brought out into the street here in chairs, some of them. they were covered in blankets and clothes, anything to keep them warm. 30 residents have been found alternative accommodation, three have been taken to hospital, two have been taken to hospital, two have been taken to hospital, two have been taken to a community hospital. they were suffering from minor injuries and the effects of breathing in smoke. thank you.

workers at three rail companies have been on strike today, affecting racegoers heading to the grand national. members of the rmt union at merseyrail which services aintree, as well as arriva rail north and southern, are in dispute over the role of conductors. here'sjudith moritz. grand national day is also the busiest day of the year of the year in liverpool, passengers pouring off trains on their way to aintree. today, those arriving at lime tree station were met by a picket line, manned by train conductors belonging to the rmt union, striking over the introduction of driver only trains. the fact that there is strike action on today is only down to the employers and their intransigent attitude for refusing to negotiate a sensible solution with the trade union. during the course of the whole grand national festival, one in three race goers gets
