fit and enjoy the racing in the great city games in manchester tomorrow. in 50 days' time, the paralympic worlds. still coming up we will be hearing from geraint thomas after his bruising experience at the giroud tally. when i see the race on tv i turn straightaway or on twitter don't want to hear about it. chelsea might be the champions but the manager of the ladies team has accused the football association of treating women's football as an afterthought. first we have some more football headlines. both england and wales have named their squads for their respective world cup qualifiers next month. wales are certainly looking to the future, and wayne rooney is also looking to his, because he's been left out by gareth southgate. england's record goalscorer also says that a decision about his club football will be revealed in the next couple of weeks.

our reporter david ornstein has been taking a close look at both squads named today. the domestic football season may be drawing to a close but there are still important games to be played at international level. let's start with england and the 25 man squad that gareth southgate has named to face scotland and france. the big news is the omission of wayne rooney. he remains the official captain, the all—time leading scorer and the most capped outfield player but his last england goal was against iceland at euro 2016 and he has only started 15 matches for manchester united this season, fuelling speculation that he may already have played his final game the and country. there is however a place for his manchester united team—mate marcus rashford, and the 19—year—old's inclusion means he won't play for the under 21 is at the european championships this
