10:54 pm
in the middle of the day? it is a hugely popular part of central london, a popular destination for people on a saturday night. it is by one of london's biggest train stations with several pubs and restau ra nts stations with several pubs and restaurants in the area. we know just after ten o'clock, we began to get reports of eyewitnesses saying a white van, hitting pedestrians on london bridge. eyewitnesses have reported seeing several people injured on the pavement. we know london ambulance service have said they have deployed a number of ambulances to the area. metropolitan police have said multiple resources are attending a serious incident, and stressing for people to avoid the area at the moment. clearly this is all still unfolding. emergency services at the scene establishing what happened and asking people to
10:55 pm
stay away. metropolitan police's twitter feed here. 0ur information on bbc news needs to be accurate. we will deal with what we know and nothing more. you can see the london ambulance service resilience team is confirming what greg said, that they have sent multiple resources to the incident and is asking everyone to avoid the area. only call 999 if you have a genuine emergency as they need to be spending all of their time and energy in the area. all sorts of reports that you may read elsewhere on social media, we will not be reporting them until we have had them confirmed and properly corroborated. it is easy to start speculating that we know where that gets us. let's go back, if you are just joining gets us. let's go back, if you are justjoining us. you are watching bbc news, these are the latest pictures from reuters news agency.

know. there was a white van that holly described as a white transit van, that knocked several pedestrians over, maybe five or six of them. that seems to be the figure eyewitnesses are talking about. several of them injured, some seriously. i think there is also a report coming in of people in a pub telling us that they have been told to stay in the pub. people running everywhere. it seems to be on the south side of london bridge, where this incident happened. police have been escorting people from the bridge. will heaven, the managing editor of the spectator magazine, has written on social media that he saw pedestrians injured, and saw the first responders, armed police, and

10:59 pm
london bridge, mounting the pavements and hitting pedestrians. we do not know the precise figure. a bbc reporter, hollyjones, was an eyewitness and said she thought it was at least five or six people who see she saw injured. we have reports of one man being taken away in handcuffs. it seems that most of this activity is happening on the south side of london bridge, the busy apart at this time on a saturday night. close to the tube station and overg round saturday night. close to the tube station and overground train station as well. there would have been many people who would have seen this. quite an operation for police to clear the area. scotland yard saying on their twitter feed that they will release more details when they have them. very important, they are saying not to speculate as to the
