things we need to improve on before the next match. we need to keep going for 80 minutes, and the next match. we need to keep going for80 minutes, and it the next match. we need to keep going for 80 minutes, and it was probably be big learning that some of the players got from tonight. there were very fine margins, we missed a penalty that we would normally score every day, and at the other end, they scored a penalty, thatis other end, they scored a penalty, that is the difference between losing by a point and winning by a couple. one of the positives was seeing captain sam warburton play. he was battling a knee injury coming into the tour, and damaged his ankle in the first match. here is his assessment of today's defeat. ifi if i had to look back, i would not limit on one instance, but there was a string of too many penalties that the away. they forced them out of us, we have to give credit to highlanders. that was probably what ha rd highlanders. that was probably what hard as most, though. —— what howard

last year describing his time there as "an amazingly unpleasant experience". ido i do not have a history of mental health problems, but it got to the point for me when i was expediency but i could only describe as bouts of anxiety and depressive episodes, every single day. ijust had... for someone every single day. ijust had... for someone who loves my training, i love training every day, i love my sport, ijust really did not want to be there. i did not want to be doing the sport. i just sometimes be there. i did not want to be doing the sport. ijust sometimes had my fingers crossed that i would sustain an injury where i could not slide, it was that bad. a special presentation was made to britain's johanna konta at the nottingham open after she notched up her 300th career win, with victory in the first round. the top seed was leading 6—2, 3—0 when her opponent and fellow brit, tara moore, had to withdraw through injury. konta will play belgian yanina

wickmayer in the second round. it was surprising more than anything, because i had not realised i was approaching that number. overall it was a really nice surprise at the end. not the best circumstances to come through that match, but in terms of things i had under my control, i felt i competed well and i definitely enjoyed getting the first match under my belt on the grass. naomi broady is also in action this week in manchester's grass court tournament, where an impressive performance will help her gain a wildcard entry for wimbledon. it will be the first time that broady has played in her home city since the manchester arena attack last month, and she says it will be an emotional event for her. something like the manchester attack that happened, it makes you appreciate family and friends and its changes your priorities a bit. my its changes your priorities a bit. my grandma is coming to watch me for

the first time, and my nieces and some of their school friends. my family and friends who do not know anything about tennis... it will just be a fantastic experience, and obviously i am working hard to do my best year, it would be a dream to win the tournament, but i do not get that far, i will have done my best, and it will be a fantastic week for people in manchester to come down and watch some great tennis. now, before the the weekend we'd never had a british winner in the men's singles of the wheelchair draw at the french open. that was until alfie hewett came along. the 19—year—old, who made his roland garros debut this year, has still got plenty of time on his side to achieve so much in the sport. one year ago, i was outside the top ten, i was 18 years old, and i had not really won anything. one yearon, i i had not really won anything. one year on, i have a wimbledon doubles title and two silver medals, i never
6:46 pm
thought it would come so soon. it is still very early in my career, not many players have done so at such a young age, so it is great for me, but i've got a long way to go yet in the sport. i have so many other goals that i want to achieve, but to my first grand slam is amazing at this age. you just missed out on the doubles title with gordon as well, in the final of that. what next? the transition from clay back to grass, is that difficult? because players across the board sometimes have their favourite surfaces. how does that affect you as a future player? it is very tough. —— as a wheelchair player. i have got another tournament in paris next week on a ha rd tournament in paris next week on a hard court surface, so i have to go back onto a hard court for one week, and then after that tournament, i
6:47 pm
will get on the grass. the transition from hard to clay from ha rd to transition from hard to clay from hard to grass, it is tough for the wheelchair, it is all about the movement. going from a hard court to a clay is tough because the clay court is harder to push on, and the different bounce of the ball, going back onto the grass, it is good to bea back onto the grass, it is good to be a lot lower, even harder to push, so it is quick to take at least a week or two weeks to get used to the transition. i am looking forward to wimbledon, it is an amazing event, and hopefully we can recreate what we did last year. unless you are willing to animals, is it difficult to make ends meet? yes. for the wheelchair players, we get prize money at the grand slams, but if you do not win a grand slam, it makes it incredibly tough to be able to play the sport. and even in grand slams,
6:48 pm
you still need extra financial help to travel the two and to travel the world, it is a very expensive sport. the two elements and the grand slams are doing a greatjob at the moment —— the tournaments. they are doing a greatjob of promoting wheelchair tennis, and i am still looking for a main sponsor, i do not have one at the moment. it does make it incredibly tough, and when wins like this happen, it helps, all that hard work and effort is repaid. britain's six—time paralympic champion david weir will compete in a track event for the final time in next month's anniversary games in london. he will continue road—racing — he won the london marathon for the seventh time in april. injanuary, weir, who won four gold medals at london 2012 and two at beijing 2008, said he would never compete for britain again after an unsuccessful games in rio. it's just all seemed to collapse at
6:49 pm
one of the biggest stages of my career, and that was in rio. i try to forget about that week that i had out there, because it was quite depressing and quite hard to take in that i did not come away with any medals. i think my performances, and the way i felt, and other things that were going on in my mind... i just felt it was the right time to say, no more track, and just concentrate on one race, and that was the marathon. and i think that's just proved, this year in the london marathon, if i just just proved, this year in the london marathon, if ijust focused on one thing, i could really do well, and thatis thing, i could really do well, and that is what happened this year. i did not have a weight on my shoulders telling me to get ready for a world championship. i have got a few good years in me yet, and i
6:50 pm
would like to do the marathon next year. september, october, november it is the marathon season again, so i have got a few marathons to go and do, andi i have got a few marathons to go and do, and i want to win as many points for the world major marathon series. we'll end with basketball, and golden state warriors are the nba champions again. celebrations may still be going on in california. ski—goggles are standard in dressing rooms to avoid champagne in the eyes. a nice big trophy, lots of bottles of champagne, and the rather peculiar sight of the golden state warriors, winning ski goals. —— wearing ski goggles. that's all from sportsday. there will be more sport here on bbc news throughout the evening. most of northern ireland, england
