and was briefly suspended. sebastian vettel extended his championship lead over lewis hamilton, but the briton described vettel‘s driving as "disgusting" after the race. tom clarkson is in baku and can tell us more. the azerbaijan grand prix turned out to be one of the most frenetic and chaotic races in recent memory. lewis hamilton started on pole position but he didn't win the race, not by a long shot, as nick reports. blue skies in azerbaijan did not point to a storm in baku, but it rained chaos from first to last. va ltteri bottas valtteri bottas tumbled from second to last. this seemingly ending the hopes of kimi raikkonen. hamilton escaped from pole position but as he got the cue for the restart, sebastian vettel got too close. team radio: he literally turned on and hit me. so much debris was there that the race was suspended for 20 minutes.

23 small island nations are competing in seven days of sport on the swedish island in the baltic sea. it's one of the biggest sporting events this summer in terms of athletes — with over 2300 competitors. our reporterjen smith sent this from gotland a short while ago. the first day got off to a windy start here in gotland. officials decided to curb the swim at the seafront which kind of cost disadvantage so they are hoping to use that. it didn't impact on the men's favourite, he was second coming out of the swim but by the time he ran home he nearly lacks some of his rivals. in the women's event it was another success for jersey. stuart broad literally streets ahead of the competition. with her team—mates ninth and the third they easily won team gold as

the government has revealed that 60 tower blocks, covered in supposedly fire resistant cladding, have failed safety tests following the grenfell tower disaster. the department for communities and local government says checks have been made in 25 council areas across england, and so far the failure rate is 100%.
