bastman david warner says their success has quietened the tourists down. it's test cricket, you know, it's hard—fought out there. sometimes you think there are times when you want to go at people, and sometimes you go in your shell like a turtle. you know, we've probably shut them up a little bit at the moment. hopefully this gets them up and going, and firing some barbs, because i love that. i love whenever we're in a contest, and i feel like they were quite flat in wa, that's for sure. phil "the power" taylor is into the third round of the pdc world darts championship at alexandra palace. the power breezed through his second round match againstjustin pipe four sets to nil. this will be the 16 time world champion‘s last appearance on the oche. he's retiring after the tournament. it would be typical of him to sign off with a win, wouldn't it? and finally,

do you ever feel like you're seeing double? here's the moment roy hodgson‘s lookalike met crystal palace manager roy hodgson. the real roy was introduced to the swansea steward who looks incredibly like the former england boss before yesterday's one all draw at the liberty stadium. roy hodgson looks a bit bemused. roy hodgson looks a bit bemusedlj have roy hodgson looks a bit bemused.” have been told i look or sound like gary lineker. i'm not so sure about that. i would like to have his career 01’ that. i would like to have his career or his backbones. you just keep being humble. dog walkers and the parents of crying children might not be the first people who come to mind when you think of so—called asbos. but some councils are being criticised for unfairly targeting such groups with anti—social behaviour orders. it's led the government to issue new guidlines on their use, but will the changes make a difference? let's speak to martha spurrier who's the director of the human rights group, liberty. merry christmas and the geforce
7:41 am
speaking to this morning. what is the problem with these powers? —— thank you. since 2014 winter palace first came in, they are used in an —— avenue busybody way. banning swearing in some cases. we have heard people banned from standing in groups of more than two unless they we re groups of more than two unless they were at a bus stop. six people have been sent to prison for being homeless as a result of these orders. they have gone off piste and being used by the local councils in a compassion less way so that
7:42 am
poverty becomes criminalised and very vulnerable people are swept off the streets and into the criminal justice system. the point you make about homeless people, most people will be agreeing with you. what about swearing? nothing wrong with expecting urgent stanzas of behaviour. —— standards. if you hear somebody using foul mouth behaviour. maybe someone should tell them not to but the reality is, these are pretty heavy penalties. these are criminal penalties, for swearing. in the end, we live in a country that we have free speech and it might be irritating and you might not want your kids to hear that kind of thing but that is the price you pay for being able to use our public spaces freely. they can bask, they can protest. if it is harassing, that is separate. —— busk. you don't need to
7:43 am
use these very broad, wide ranging powers for criminalising things like this. do you support the broad notion of the things in trying to make society a better and nicer place to be, it'sjust make society a better and nicer place to be, it's just the specific implementation in that —— certain circumstances but broadly, would you welcome? jelena the difficulty with this law is that it is drawn so widely that councils have been able to use it in abusive ways. -- the difficulty. it needs to be redrawn so difficulty. it needs to be redrawn so it is tighter. true, there is serious antisocial behaviour which is criminaland serious antisocial behaviour which is criminal and nobody wants that in their local areas. however, the problem with these powers, they have been used to target very vulnerable people. if you seek homeless people, a woman in worcester a few months ago, was given a six—month prison sentence for baking 50p. if you see
7:44 am
that, that is abusive. —— begging put upa that, that is abusive. —— begging put up a not meant to target vulnerable people. but the law is written in these wide terms and so the risk is always there. martha, thank you talking to us. you may be getting up to head off on the roads to visit family, or you might have plans to get out and do some last—minute christmas shopping. louise has the weather forecast so you know what will confront you as you know what will confront you as you walk out the door. i hope it is not one of those. i am sure the kids would love a light snowy christmas, but we are not going to get that. the snowiest christmas for kids was 1981, so your mums and dads might remember that. 47 centimetres,
7:45 am
wouldn't that have been great? for the rest of us, are bland and boring run—up to christmas except for the far north—west of scotland. this weather front is a conveyor belt of rain pushing into the north—west. some of it quite heavy and persistent. we could see as much a 60 millimetres of rain in the far north—west of scotland. 50 mph gust of wind. just to the south of that front this morning. it is a mild start in sheltered eastern areas of scotland, so topsy—turvy weather conditions across the country. now, it does look as though for the rest of us it is a pretty bland, boring story. rate news if you need to be out on the roads for some last—minute christmas shopping. maybe the cloud thickener for the odd spot in wales. the cloud may well fin and break in places, but generally speaking it will be cloudy, dull, damp, dreary kind of day. but not cold. we will see some rainfringing day. but not cold. we will see some rain fringing the far north—west of northern ireland. persistent and heavy rain into scotland, and that
7:46 am
will slowly drift its way south and east. sheltered eastern areas of scotla nd east. sheltered eastern areas of scotland might not see too much on the way of heavy rain. it will gradually push its way through northern ireland the north—west england, and across the lake district. england and wales staying rather dull through the afternoon. ten to 12 degrees across the country. that is christmas eve. the difference as we move into christmas day, that weather front still with us day, that weather front still with us and as we go through the night it will reinvigorate itself and some of that rain will slowly start to turn quite heavy once we move into the irish sea. you can see most of the rain will sit across northern ireland during the early hours of christmas day. we start off cloudy, damp and drizzly. the rain will turn quite heavy into wales in south—west england by the end of the day. ahead of it, staying cloudy. showery bits and pieces of rain. ten to 12 degrees behind it. colder air starting to kick in. i was telling
7:47 am
roger earlier we could see technically a light christmas, because some of those showers behind could be a little wintry to higher ground, but we're not expecting any lying on christmas day. as we say goodbye to christmas day, that weather front moves through at quite a pace. clearing its way steadily east, that heavy rain. that marks a change. boxing day you will need to wrap up warm, and the north—west wind kicking in. temperatures starting to plummet and heavy rain across england and wales will turn to snow to higher ground across wales. so all change, really, on boxing day. on the issue of the snow, am i right in recalling that in order to be officially a light christmas it has two snow on top of the weather centre in london? no, a fla ke the weather centre in london? no, a flake of snow anywhere across the uk is technically classed as a light christmas. that is why actually there have been quite a few light christmases, and then people say they have not been that many. i can't remember exactly how many
7:48 am
christmases where we have seen significant lying snow. i will tell you in half an hour's time. but one fla ke you in half an hour's time. but one flake of snow somewhere across the uk, which is why a few flakes across high ground in scotland is going to be technically a light christmas. that is good to know. poor old santa claus might get a little bit damp while he is delivering. now it is time for a particularly festive version of click, with spencer kelly and the team. twas the night before clickmas, and all through the smart home, not a gizmo was whirring, not even a drone. the stockings were full with gadgets galore, with virtual realities primed to explore. # but the very next day, you gave it away.
7:49 am
# this year, to save me from tears # i'll give it to someone...# and welcome to the clickmas special! cheering. and thank you very much to john culshaw for that excellent rendition to start us off. would you believe it? the gang's all here, the halls are decked with nifty gadgetry, and it's time to get this party started. 0oh! look at that! this is the lyric speaker, and it streams music from your smartphone from spotify, and it also picks up the lyrics from spotify and displays it on the screen for you all to stare at, rather than having a sociable conversation. and if you do want something to talk about, you can talk about the fact that this costs £3600. wow! yes, so there we go. does it play mariah carey? technically, it does, but we can't afford the licensing. well, i tell you what, i've got a christmas present
7:50 am
for you, spencer. fabulous. you've always wanted to be a jedi knight, i know this in my heart. yes. you've always wanted to have a lightsabre battle. oh, yes. with this augmented—reality star wars battling headset, you can. fabulous, can i try it now? yes, but you're going to have to go over there, because i know you and your waving arms, you're going to knock something over. 0k. and, while i get lost in a galaxy far, far away, dan is getting lost in his favourite video game. come on, come on! come on! come on, come on, come on, come on, come on! i've just crashed it! he laughs it's a stunning game, and i'd love to tell you it'sjust like driving the real thing but... ..i can't just yet. this is the nissan gt—r.
7:51 am
its four—wheel drive traction—control system lays down almost all of the 550 horses from the engine to the tarmac. it has a top speed that would make your nose bleed, and been clocked from 0—60 in under three seconds. i am ready to go again! sorry? 0h, bleep! oh, my...! yeah, you'll want to
7:52 am
be a little bit... so we've played the game, we've driven the car, so how about... ..we do both? this is a full—size, fully—specced remote—controlled nissan gt—r/c. it has been made by the team athb design and is driven by a standard playstation controller. four robots control the transmission, steering, throttle and the brakes. the six number—crunchers in the boot calculate my adjustments 100 times a second. so, just to be clear, i'm going to be driving that car with this, while rob chases it in the car that we're in, so we don't lose contact, obviously. i know. bonkers.
7:53 am
this is £100,000 worth of sports car, and i've got to say it's twitchy. just like the grand prix, a bit of brake, there we go, in we go, in we turn. just take a little bit of kerb. he has got it round that corner! he hasn't smashed the sports car! this car has so much power, and i literally have to just dab my finger and it moves — i mean, it really goes. incredible. wow! i mean, just be able to control something as powerful as that is so much responsibility, actually. but, once you get into it, you get focused on the car, it's just incredible. we should all have one of these for christmas, shouldn't we? oh, well. nice to dream. dan, that looked amazing!
7:54 am
pointless, but amazing! yeah. and terrifying. it was absolutely terrifying, spen. i think we created a new emoji when we filmed that. 0h, isay! goodness me. but we flushed it away, it's ok, it's fine. right, well! ho, ho, ho! merry clickmas! what have you got there? this is my friend anki. i thought it would bring some fun to the clickmas table. look, it even recognises me. hello, anki! and it's a goading robot! it can say phrases, it can play educational games, and it can even do that. let's have a look at what it gets up to on the table. don't worry, it's not going to eat those chocolate coins of yours! does it mine for bitcoins? it mines for chocolate coins, at this moment. 0h. robots are the best! this is 0cado's hatfield fulfilment centre — a place where humans work alongside a process that already looks pretty automated.
7:55 am
but the robots are coming. wow! this grocery—picking robot is being tested here, and early next year, she'll be making an appearance at one of 0cado's warehouses to do the job for real. it has been trained to identify 2,000 of 0cado's 50,000 products using computer vision. and, as long as those products are non—porous — so that means basically anything that won't be damaged by being picked up by this vacuum — then it can take them out of the picking box, take them through the scanner, and place them in the bagging area. but this isn't the only bot being tested here. so i'm off to meet a man called panos and an arm called soma. hello.
7:56 am
oh, i don't know whose hand i shake first. i'm going to go for yours. ok, so whilst this robot looks like its purpose isjust to have the human touch, so it can pick things up that are softer without damaging them, it does also have another skill. what this one has been taught to do is the same thing a human would. so to put their hand on it, roll it along, and do that. panos, can you help it demonstrate, please? of course. wow, that arm movement is quite something. it's got a few elbows there. but it's grabbed it, and it has picked it up successfully. it can put it down. 0h! thanks, happy christmas to you, too! wow, i have to say, you get a great view of london's west end from up here. i'm on the roof ofjohn lewis at the moment.
7:57 am
and these aren't any old binoculars. these are made by iq, and they are basically a combination of a lens strapped to a smartphone strapped to a viewer. and they allow you to record what you are seeing so you can watch it back later and share it with friends. nice. i'm freezing. i say, barman... well, hello there, spencer! well, if it isn't tv‘s nick kwek. it's me! how are you? very cold. can you whip me up something hot? here you go, spen. it's a lovely hot chocolate. i say hot, because actually that is a smart mug you are holding. it connects to your mobile phone via an app, and that works like a thermostat. you choose the desired temperature of your drink, and that keeps it warm all day long. all day long!
7:58 am
that is, until your smartphone's battery dies, at which point the power in the mug goes. i'll drink it, then. that will be £80. say what now? £80. £80! what's that, production? i'm needed back in the hub right now? spen, spen! i hope you're enjoying the show. it's time for our clickmas elfing. sticking with the theme of ar, we'll be adding a bit of augmented reality to the photo this year. we have the photo printer attached to a smartphone. i will need some help here, dan. could you take the selfie, please? you're in a better position than me. so we need to put it on video mode. this is a video selfie? well, it is. you're going to find out why in a moment. but all i have to say right now is, when dan presses the button, make sure you move and make some noise. happy clickmas, or something else appropriate. three, two, one! all: happy clickmas! so now we've got a still that looks
7:59 am
like that, which we can print. that's unfortunate. it's not a bad picture. let's print that still. hurrah! there you go, spencer. your memento. your memento for having us. i like the way you framed it. i'm sure that's what it was designed for. i'm going to have to take a selfie of that. that's it for this week. thank you so much for watching. on behalf of the whole team, merry clickmas! the rooftop sees santa, who's laughing with glee. he's trying to fit robots down the chimney. he finished thejob and the gifs were delivered. around rudolph's neck, the gps triggered. and, on santa's step counter, the total was high. merry clickmas to all! now, where's my mince pie? guys, i think i've fallen over. no—one told me there was a step. hello, this is breakfast,
