liverpool have ended manchester city's 30 match unbeaten run in the top flight, with an entertaining 4—3 win. the reds scored three goals in eight minutes in the second—half, which handed city theirfirst league defeat of the season... but they're still 15 points clear of second—paced manchester united at the top of the table. joe lynskey watched the match. this is the era of the super fixture, the games that define the best of the big six. stopping manchester city seems to take divine powers. liverpool had to do it without their superstar defender. but to pave the cracks in the back, the reds got on the front foot, oxlade—chamberlain got the breakthrough moment. the eighth minute would never settle this match. city rarely go behind, when they do, they respond. liverpool would return from the break with a more ruthless streak. they went back in front through roberto firmino, and when sadio mane increased the lead, this felt like their moment. they came unbeaten, but now city were unravelling.

liverpool always demand a lot, you make a mistake and they punish you. with salah, oxlade—chamberlain, it is a team of quality, to run and to make fast counterattacks. but, hopefully we can learn from that of the future. it's been another disappointing day for arsenal, who are now five points adrift of fifth—placed tottenahm in the premier league, after losing 2—1 at bournemouth this afternoon. and in his post—match press conference, the arsenal manager arsene wenger confirmed that their star player alexi sanchez could leave the club in the next 48 hours. nick parrott has more... there is as much drama off the pitch as on it for the gunners. their manager is still serving a touchline ban and he left alexis sanchez on the bench with the chilean forward trying to secure a move away from the club.
