affected. i represent small building companies across the uk and they are at the tail end of the supply chain, it's not just carillion at the tail end of the supply chain, it's notjust carillion but hundreds of other companies affected. one of oui’ of other companies affected. one of our companies is owed £230,000 and their tools are a lot on site so they cannot get the tools to work on other sites. another company is owed £20,000 but the real tragedy is that there are a number of apprentices who now find themselves not knowing what to do and we will have a meeting tomorrow across the industry to work out with the training board placements, what we can do for those young people because they are innocent victims of this. some good news today, banks have said they will try to continue to make sure funds are available so people get

paid for those sites who continued to work. yes, because on monday the industry met with the secretary of state, we were aware that banks were taking a small line toward small companies, today we heard that they would be more relaxed with the interest payments and overdraft facilities and also good news from revenue and customs that they would adopt a more lenient approach, but we wa nt adopt a more lenient approach, but we want to see this ruled out because a lot of companies want to know what to do now and it's another day in, so the government is moving quite swiftly, there were positive announcements today but still much to do with the industry and government working together. did you see this coming, with those profit warnings last year? it does surprise me, with the profit warnings issued
