for team gb in pyeongchang. lizzy yarnold has become the first british winter olympian to successfully defend a title. she's skeleton champion once again, and laura deas also took bronze. it's the first time there have been two british medallists in the same event. earlier today, izzy atkin won bronze in the slopestyle. and that was the first medalfor a british skier in the history of the games. three british medals in a day, that had never been done before either. joe lynskey reports on british joy at the sliding centre. in winter sports, britain aren't supposed to dominate. no—one told lizzy yarnold, though. lizzy yarnold, what a performance! the first british athlete to successfully defend her olympic title. she went into her final

in women's skeleton, it is now gb gold three games in a row. in the hours after her win, lizzy yarnold posted on social media ‘i won the olympics, again' #historymaker. very humble! there's been fantastic british support at the sliding centre and afterwards our correspondent david ornstein spoke to yarnold's parents. completely unbelievable emotion that lizzy has achieved what she said she was going to achieve, and she's done it. it's just mind blowing, we will take days and weeks to get to realise and accept what she's done. you saw four years ago in sochi, now in pyeongchang, your daughter is the most decorated british winter olympian ever. has that started to sink in? it is not sinking in at all. i was terrified through all four runs.

just wanted them over, is that awful to say? i wanted her to get to the end and be safe and fast. she is amazing under pressure, look what she has done. she said she would do this for our country and she has. let's hear now from the british bronze medallist laura deas, who will be joining lizzy yarnold on the podium. i can't believe it's happening, this is like a dream. i knew i could do it, and i thought it was going to be taken away at the last minute. when she came down behind me, i couldn't believe it was happening, i'm so pleased for lizzy as well. and chasing the pack, it was always consistency that was going to win the day, and i was pleased at the time that last run. i could barely feel my legs, i was so nervous. i can't believe this is real.

team gb also celebrated their first winter olympic medal on skis. 19—year—old izzy atkin was born in the us and is based in utah, but has a british father. she won an historic bronze medal in the ski slopestyle. ben croucher reports. this is the face of history, great britain's first silverware on skis. slopestyle is about nailing the rails and avoiding the bumps andjumps. this teenager adds substance to style. izzy was raised in the usa by a british father and a malaysian mother, she has been skiing since she was three. tricks like this have taken 16 years in the planning. before the final of three runs, she was pushed from the podium, this had to be flawless. every grind, twist and jump jiving with jeopardy. she put down a score enough for fourth, but could anyone deny her slopestyle silverware? she's down!

izzy atkin takes a bronze! there were big names in the field, it could have been anyone's. i knew i had skied the best i could and i was waiting for those last three or four girls to drop. my heart was racing, i can't believe it. believe it, izzy, you're an olympic bronze medallist. well, let's keep with the family theme — they are the ones who see these athletes through thick and thin on their olympicjournies. this was izzy's dad michael after that bronze medal winning performance. he was born in county durham, grew up in birmingham, but has been based in the us for years. just in case you were trying to place the accent. quite remarkable, hasn't sunk in yet
