us give your loan, but you need to give usa give your loan, but you need to give us a stake in certain critical assets. the us has withdrawn a lot from africa. it is now in a situation where you see a lot of acting governments associated with china and along with the us culture is concerning to washington. there has been a huge shift that, where for decades they have been investing heavily in africa, china, in all their resources. this has been very strategic. the us has not been as active, which is interesting. interesting how that has shifted. we go to donald trump. and donald trump concedes to the nra, abandoning his gun—control promises. we know that the new york times is not a supporter of the trump administration, the they seeing a? they are talking about donald trump ‘s plans on how to deal with the gun issue in the us, following that florida, i think every 14, shooting,

on the gardens after yesterday's rain but it's clearing away as we speak. this little ridge of high pressure is building and with light winds temperatures are falling away in the far north of scotland. a chilly start on tuesday morning but we should have decent spells of sunshine and in fact it's probably going to be the best of the dry days through this week. the best sunshine the further west you are, northern ireland, scotland, wales and south—west england, but eventually we will see that cloud breaking up, perhaps the exception of north sea facing coasts. temperatures will respond with the sunshine, highs around 7—11. with the light winds and sunshine, it will feel much better. however, low pressure will sit out to the west, not only for wednesday but the rest of the working week in actualfact. spiralling around that low is a series of frontal systems. the good news is it's driving in a south—westerly wind so milder air spills across the country, the bad news is circulating around that my will be weather fronts bringing rain at times. not for all of us.
5:56 am
perhaps on wednesday it will be in the south—west, eventually into ireland and also wales and south—west scotland but central and eastern areas will see decent spells of sunshine and temperatures will respond. it will be windy at times and it will see some wet weather spiralling around that low pressure, almost like a catherine wheel, driving up some rain at times. chiefly affecting the south—west, eventually moving into northern ireland and into wales. but for much of the eastern areas, we'll see dry, bright weather. temperatures responding with the sunshine and the southerly wind, highs of up to 14 degrees. a similar kind of story actually on thursday. another front brings rain into northern ireland, wales, the midlands and eventually into the south—east, but much of eastern england, along with scotland, will see some dry, sunny weather, and with that wind direction, it's still going to feel reasonably warm, highs of 7—14 degrees. so if you get the sunshine with those temperatures responding, it could — dare i say it — feel almost springlike at times. but don't get used to it because it looks as though by the weekend we'll see quite a dramatic contrast in the weather,
5:57 am
as the wind direction changes its going to get cold again. that is because we start to see another area of high pressure dominating across scandinavia. the winds clockwise around that high, a cold easterly set to return. it looks as if it will turn much colder as we move into the weekend, and any moisture coming in off the north sea could again fall as snow. so it's certainly something that we're going to have to keep a close eye on. i wouldn't be surprised into the weekend as we start to see a return to snow on the roads. take care. hello, this is breakfast, with louise minchin and dan walker. britain's ultimatum to russia — explain your role in the salisbury spy attack or face the consequences. the kremlin has until midnight to spell out what happened or theresa may says she'll take action. it comes as tests conclude the former double agent sergei skripal and his daughter were poisoned by a military grade nerve agent made only in russia.
