in germany, dozens injured after a van plowed into a crowd in the northwestern city of muenster. the incident is being treated as an attack. it hasn't yet been confirmed though as terrorism. the driver of the vehicle is said to have shot himself. police say they are not looking for any further suspects. about 20 people are reported to have been injured, six are said to be in a critical condition. police also say that a suspicious object has been found in the van. a little earlier we heard from a policeman in muenster and this is what he had to say about the incident. the suspect shot himself in the vehicle. his identity is still unclear. there's some eyewitness accounts of other culprits, possibly having fled the vehicle, but we're still investigating this and do not yet have an in—depth understanding of

site, and the people are calm but really shocked, so it is a small, pedestrian area and next to that there are are some big street, but it was a pedestrian area and cars are not allowed there. it was a small restaurant and the people are sitting outside and then the van crashed into the restaurant. the people are scared because in 2016 there was a christmas attack in berlin also with a vehicle so the people are kind of scared, they did not believe that it happened in muenster because it is really secure here and so, yeah. i'm also shocked andi here and so, yeah. i'm also shocked and i think it is a deliberate attack because it is not allowed to go attack because it is not allowed to 9° by attack because it is not allowed to go by car in this area and also i

still being circumspect about that. they have not ruled out a personal motive, the possibility there was some kind of grudge to hit someone in the restaurant seems unlikely. as we have said it is a pedestrian zone so we have said it is a pedestrian zone so you would clearly want to be injuring as many people as possible if you will drive a vehicle in a kind of area and it does not look like a specifically targeted attack, but a purse —— that a personal grudge my point towards the terrorism look like the most obvious thing. the other thing is is on the first anniversary of a similar attack in stockholm in sweden exactly a year ago when a failed asylu m exactly a year ago when a failed asylum seeker drove into a crowd outside a department store there and killed five people. he's actually admitted to being the perpetrator of that attack, but he's still on trial because in sweden they have to prove that he intended to damage the state per se. if they want to make a terrorism charge stick. 2016 was the worst year so farfor

driven into people. has that been something that has happened in german cities? it certainly has. when you look carefully, when there are... in fact in the christmas season, all the christmas market, there were many more road blockades around the market to prevent a car from running into those christmas markets, and at the same is happening with many other events where larger crowds come together. however, we all know that it in our larger cities there's always a good reason for crowds to come together you cannot always plan ahead of time and put barricades around it and in muenster it seems... this is the first beautiful weekend of this year. everyone is going outside, sitting outside, eating cake or having a beer on a saturday

afternoon, enjoying the sun and so people come out and that is of course for someone people come out and that is of course for someone who deliberately wants to hurt people, a potential target. and something where it is of course impossible to protect every space, every restaurant, every pub where people sit outside. tim is speaking to us a little early. we will bring you the latest developments as we get them of course from muenster. 0ne news agency now reporting that special forces have been deployed. it is not berlin, obviously, it is muenster in the capital of the west region of germany. meanwhile in other news at least 1a people reported to have been killed in canada in a crash between a bus and a truck. 0n been killed in canada in a crash between a bus and a truck. on board the bus was the humbled broncos ice hockey team with players ranging in
