you can't actually see them from here unless you have a telescope. we can show you some webcam footage. this is of the male arriving a couple of days ago, because these birds have spent the winter in west africa. there are just 30 pairs of meeting ospreys in england and wales. six are in cumbria. they mate for life, and this pair have been coming back here for five years and have raised ii chicks. people love to follow them. they build on these huge nests right in the top of trees, they are quite bold, if you like. and they have got this fantastic highway man's mask and fantastic black and white markings, and people just find them fascinating. it is already busy here today, but over the next few weeks, around 7000 visitors are expected to come here to foulshawjust to see if they can get a glimpse of the ospreys. i thought i would nip across the border from north yorkshire and have a look at them.

it was cool. it looked really nice. 0sprey numbers declined due to years of persecution, but this is a conservation success story. they are thriving now in scotland and are slowly starting to spread south of the border. those parts that have the sunniest conditioned yesterday were cloudy and web today. this soon across much of central and eastern england in which there are outbreaks of rain. elsewhere you saw some sunny spells. some fog patches developing overnight in parts of northern ireland, north—west england and south—west scotland. patchy rain in the south—east. it will be a mild night. maybe a touch of frost in the northern parts of scotland. tomorrow morning, those patches of mist and fog will clear in northern ireland, south—east scotland and north—west

it was a good day for the home nations at the commonwealth games with all of them picking up gold. the big shock of the day came from 18—year—old gymnast rhys mcclenaghan, of northern ireland, who beat the olympic champion max whitlock on the pommell horse. mike bushell is on the gold coast for us. as the gold coast stayed the night there will be sweet dreams for athletes from northern ireland, wales, scotland and england. it was the best day of the game so far but those themes. some life changing performances from happy to be in the past might have been in the shadow of others. past might have been in the shadow of others. no way! i can't believe it. it takes a special touch to raise a teenage champion. this is northern ireland's first gold of these games. rhys mcclenaghan called it his proudest day, and at 18 he'll hope it's just the start. his poise on the pommel was enough to beat his idol, max whitlock settling for silver. i honestly have no words.
