gaming is big business — it's creating a new wave of celebrities and it's even been tipped as a new olympic sport. now, a 13—year—old from kent has become one of the world's youngest professional gamers. kyle jackson has become so good at the game fortnite that he could start earning serious money. joe lynam went to meet him. for many of us, fortnite is the length of time you spend on your holidays. but for young people, it is the hottest game on the planet right now. for this 13—year—old, it is potentially a lucrative future career. kyle has been signed to play with a team of professional gamers. i started playing competitively when i was around nine or ten. i got into halo, call of duty. i realised that i could probably go to a pro—level if i kept playing at that scale. gaming is no joke. it is a big business. thousands of people

for global box—office sales on its opening weekend. industry observers said it took in $630 million even though it has yet to open in china. the takings in north america amounted to $250 million, a record for the region. a new world record has been awarded for surfing the biggest wave. these amazing pictures show brazilian rodrigo koxa in november riding the massive wave. that was in portugal. it has now been confirmed to be 80 feet, orjust over 2a metres, high. koxa broke the record set by an american surfer in 2011 by a couple of feet. the brazilian said he always tries to ride big waves, but after nearly dying while surfing in 2014, coming back and now being awarded the record makes it the happiest day in his life. chris fawkes has the weather. we have some miserable weather on

it's yet another premiership title for them as they put five past old firm rivals rangers. simply too good. lyon beat manchester city in the champions league semi—final. and a first win of the season for lewis hamilton. everything goes his way in baku at the ajerbaijan grand prix. a busy day of sport, lots to come in the programme. let's start with football. celtic have won the scottish premiership title for the seventh year in a row after thrashing rangers 5—0 at celtic park.

as for the second year running, city have found themselves knocked out in the last four by lyon. the tie poised at 0—0, city only needed a score draw to progress but found themselves under wave after wave of lyon attack early on. then up stepped lucy bronze. then a finish worthy of the occasion against herformer side. city failed to create any opportunities of their own. at the break they were down but not out, knowing a goal would still see them through. but the second half followed a similar pattern to the first, city defending heavily, while offering little going forward, with the defending champions desperately searching for the second goal that would secure the victory. but in the end, it wasn't needed. bronze's goal proving enough to send lyon through as they look to secure a fifth european title.

but the streets are chaotic. behind the leaders at the start line, a congestion fight. when it is this narrow, slight touches cause big problems. trying to dodge the debris left a few cars in a mess. away from the trouble, lewis hamilton made his own problems. he called his early race untidy, but this grand prix changed with a collision. two drivers on the same red bull team falling out at top speed. the crash took seven laps to clear, so when the race restarted, they were all bunched together. in the sprint finish, the red sebastien vettel lost his way, so next to take the lead was valtteri bottas, but his dream, like his tyre, was left in tatters. the worst time possible to get a puncture. that left a simple overtake for his mercedes team—mate. for hamilton, this was a win that fell into his lap. victory claimed in fortuity, and his first of the season.

really quite an emotional race to be honest, valtteri did such an exceptionaljob today and ready deserve to have the win. also sebastien did a greatjob. i think i was ready fortunate today, so it feels a little bit odd to be appear that i have got to take it. i didn't give up, i kept pushing, but an untidy race from me. in rugby union, wasps secured a play—off spot and climbed to third—place after a 36—29 win over northampton. christian wade opened the scoring for wasps, before adding a second — his 12th try of the season. saints responded through mitchell and tuala but fell short, as wasps sealed a bonus point win. in the day's other game — london irish, who's relegation to the championship was confirmed yesterday, were thrashed 51—14 by saracens — a result that guarantees saracens a home semi—final in the play offs. britain's chris and gabby adcock have defended their european badminton title with a closely—fought victory over the danish seconds seeds.

the adcocks, recently crowned commonwealth games champions, beat mathias christiansen and christinna pedersen by two sets to one — taking the decider 21—18, in a match that lasted 66 minutes. they are the first english duo to defend a european title successfully for 32 years.
